Good overall. The pork and thousand year egg congee was ok. Too light on the green onions and somewhat rancid (maybe from the duck sauce added?). The crispy pork belly with rice was tasty with some veggies included. Overall a quick and tasty meal.

Nestled in a row of fast food and slop bowls, dim sum sam holds it's own. There is seating in the back, food comes out quickly, and there is variety for everyone. Don't get me wrong, there are better dim sum places in the city, but for the area it's a really nice spot to have.

A very quick and casual take out dim sum / cantonese food eatery, with very affordable prices. I wanted to order a rice bowl, but they had run out of rice at 8:30 PM. I really enjoyed how tender and flavorful the roast pork was, but the dish didn't stand out too much otherwise. I wish there was a greater veggie to noodle ratio.

A great and easy spot to stop at to get your dim sum fix without going all the way to Chinatown. It was good but not as much variety as I wanted in the dim sum category which is in the name, but it took care of my craving of wanting dim sum quickly and easily while staying in Flatiron area. The sui mai was the star of it all, I don't normally love it but I always get it because one day I just might and that one day was today. The duck dumpling that people talked about was not my favorite and something I hope to never encounter again, haha. I also loved their rice crepes could include egg which is my favorite way to eat it and a lot of dim sum cart pushing places don't have that option.

I'm a Hong Kong born Cali raised Cantonese foodie who's forever in search of Cantonese food during travels. This place was so good I came back twice in a weekend for breakfast. Rice porridge with pork and thousand year old egg - Generous portion of meat and egg. Ask for white pepper to sprinkle on top. Portuguese egg tart - Absolutely memorable. Flaky and buttery crust. Perfectly sweet and creamy custard. But not too sweet as we'd say. Lemon iced tea - Good not great. Prefer the HK style where you can taste the smashed bitters of the lemon zest. Roast duck noodle soup with HK noodles - Large portion of meat! Almost too much for one person. Delicious meat and perfectly bouncy noodles. Solid broth. Iced Milk tea - Delish. Service - Speedy!!! Quick counter ordering process. Your number is bellowed on the loud speaker when it's time to get your food. Self serve on utensils and clearing of tray after the meal just like any fast casual spot. Great value and location. Nice to have this canto option in Nomad to save a trek to Chinatown for this type of comfort food.

The food is delicious n fresh. The ambiance is ok. Clean but there were not really enough chairs. Service was so-so. Most importantly they were careful with food allergies.

This was exactly what we needed as we were walking across Manhattan on a breezy Saturday afternoon. We ordered a bunch of stuff at the window, grabbed a seat and in just a few minutes we were eating spicy mushroom dumplings, roast duck dumplings, scallion pancakes, and pork buns. All that and a water for 30.00 was the perfect inexpensive lunch to fuel us up for the rest of our hike.

Fast and easy ordering at the counter, then self service tables and condiments in the back as you wait for your number to come up. Great pork and duck in the window to the kitchen, did not disappoint! Great pastry for the deep fried dim sum, very flaky layers, and add/make your own sauce at the station. Easy place to join up with a group low-key!

In the mood for a la carte dim sum? Dim Sum Sam has got you covered from early AM to like 9:30pm (last I checked). The dim sum is tasty - love the siu mai - and is not Americanized. Get your goods to go, or sit and enjoy. During nicer weather, you've got Madison Square Park right there. Enjoy that vitamin D! Peep the lunch specials. The math may math for you if you want roast pork on rice (hint: you do!) and a lemon ice tea. Yes, prices are higher than Chinatown, but you're not in Chinatown. Credit accepted.

Great spot for Cantonese food outside of Chinatown! Very casual place where you order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. We had pork and duck noodle soup and pork and chicken over rice, along with a roasted pork rice noodle roll. All the meat was very tender and cooked really well. The rice noodle rolls are always my favorite! And of course we had to end the meal with an egg tart! Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

One of my favorite spots to eat at in the area. I never have to wait too long and the duck noodle soup is great (my favorite item here). The duck skin isn't always crispy but I don't mind when I'm eating it with soup. Very generous amount of meat and veggies and the egg noodles are solid. I also recommend trying the X over rice dishes- love that they come with pickled radish. Dining area is nice and clean and staff are friendly

This cost me almost $29.

Great for when you're craving dim sum and you're no where near Chinatown. Large portions and tasty but oily, hence the three stars.

It was also a bit loud. The service was great, with waiters very quickly bringing us our food and refilling our water. We tried the pork dumplings in chili oil, the tea smoked duck with sticky rice, fragrant fish fillet, and sauteed spring beans. The pork dumplings in chili oil were my favorite, despite the sauce not really tasting anything like chili oil. It tasted more like peking duck sauce. The entrees were good, but didn't really stand out much to me. We were expecting duck with a bowl of sticky rice on the side, but were surprised to find sticky rice layered on top of duck. It was more sticky rice than duck, and came with some sort of sweet and sour sauce. The fragrant fish fillet was pretty mild in flavor, although the fish was cooked well. The sauteed green beans were pretty standard. All the dishes that were said to have one level of spice had no spice at all. The final bill came out to be around $40 per person after tip and tax, which I found expensive for what we got.

I was browsing for places with scallion pancakes and I came across this restaurant. I saw they had a scallion pancake beef rook which I'd never seen before. It was fried and crispy on the inside with tender beef on the inside, that was slightly savory slightly sweet. I had the roll on its own, which made for a light meal, but it can also be enjoyed as a large snack. It was a little greasy, which can be expected, but not sure if I'd get it again. I did think it was innovative though. The most impressive thing about the restaurant was actually the space. I came to pick up my food and was surprised to see this beautiful place. The outside is unassuming and nothing special but inside has the aesthetic of an old Shanghai restaurant. It's ornate and slightly quirky. It's also really big, bigger than I expected. Even the bathrooms had traditional Chinese flare with the sliding doors. Definitely worth checking out,

It's also nicely decorated, which makes you feel like you're in China. It's definitely for a younger crowd with how loud this place gets. We had a huge party, so we ordered an array of dishes to share family style. Some of the most memorable dishes were the Mapo Tofu ($13.99), Hutaoli Roast Chicken ($43 for whole), Spicy Pot Potato ($19), Roasted Green Beans ($22), etc. All of the food is good, but definitely pricey. While the food also came out quickly, our drinks came out towards the end of our meal. It's a good spot for big parties as it never got too busy even on a Saturday night. They also have private rooms. The live music was fun, but also made it hard to have conversation.
