***cash only establishment*** Ambiance: This is a classic Cantonese/Hong Kong style establishment where it is open seating and you may end up sharing the table with a random stranger! I felt like this can be hectic and uncomfortable for a lot of people! Especially if you don't speak Cantonese because the women who run here have limited English! Service: The women here are very friendly! It's helpful to speak Cantonese, but if you're patient with their limited English, I think you can get by! Food: The food is made to order so it will take about 10-15 minutes after you place your order. They will call out your # (on the receipt) when the order is ready. The number will be called out in Cantonese and English. The food was great. I'd recommend ordering the ha gap (shrimp dumplings), any of the baked goods, and the BBQ pork rice. My only gripe was that I wish they did not give disposable containers for dine in customers. So wasteful.

Roast Pork Rice Noodle Roll & shumai

I believe this location opened recently (I've been ordering delivery at their other locations). The price points here are much better, so I stopped by to check it out. Upon entrance, there's a bakery section on the left. I ordered iced milk tea, shumai and roast pork rice noodle rolls. Was told that it would take about 7-8 minutes. The dining area was kinda packed. It's pretty cramped in there in comparison to the Times Square location. The food: Iced milk tea was OK but thought $4.50 was a bit much for Chinatown Shumai was good, same as other locations Roast pork rice noodle rolls were on par but did not come with choy sum (vegetables) like other locations. I guess cuz it's a couple bucks cheaper. They also don't have the yummy homemade chili oil. I asked for chili oil and was handed packets of Chinese takeout hot sauce euw. Overall, good spot for some cheap eats. Would probably get takeout instead of dining in.

Visiting Chinatown and stumbled onto Dim Sum Sam. It has 2 other branches with one in Time Square. Cash only for this location. Price is really good. Roast pork is $12/lb on 7/1/2025. Back home in California, I have to pay $18/lb!!! I thought the cost of living in New York is expensive. Food quality: Roast pork - skin was still crispy after I took it back to the hotel room for dinner. They must've gave me the pork belly. I should've requested a leaner section of the pig. The rice roll (cheung fun) was freshly steamed when I ordered. It has a soft, slippery-smooth texture that's still slightly bouncy, not overly firm or mushy. Good cheung fun! Service: you have to lineup and order from the counter. You can study the menu while in line. The cashier packaged my to-go items well and added in utensils without me asking. My Chinese food cravings was satisfied. Yummy!

Dim Sum Sam 80 Bowery BBQ Spare Rib over Rice The main course appeared to be spare rib tibs and not full size spare ribs. Also included with this platter is cabbage, white rice and soy sauce. The cabbage is a fantastic side dish, but it didn't go well with this platter. It was a large portion, but there will not be a next time.

2 bbq meats over rice. Cha siew (roast pork) and scallion chicken

2nd time doing take out. I ordered the same thing as last time - - 2 bbq meats over rice. I got cha siew (roast pork) and scallion chicken. This time there was more meat on the chicken and the roast pork pieces were thicker cuts. Quantity was better this time, but the meats were a bit on the dry side. Can't seem to get it right. A bit inconsistent, hit or miss.

The honey lemon was good, but the coffee tastes so delicious, we ordered one more to go!

It was my first time at this location, I've been to the one on 40th St. It's a Chinese bakery type of place. You order at the counter, grab a seat, and wait for pickup. The place is cozy with a nice seating area. The service is great - they are so patient to explain any questions about the menu. The dishes were tasty and the prices are so reasonable. We'll be back for more!

Grand opening. Foods at affordable prices I would say as a local. Spacious and new furniture for patrons to enjoy some buns and tea/coffee. Though I only came here for breakfast, I see that they also sell other traditional dim sum foods as well as Chinese takeout like noodle soups, chicken, duck, pork over rice dishes.

Saw that Dim Sum Sam opened, and it was fairly crowded inside with people purchasing baked goods. There is a fair amount of seating but not too large. Though there is baked goods and other food options, I decided to try the $5.75 small roast pork rice box. The price and portion was decent but the rice needed more sauce. The roast pork tasted dry. Will give it some time and try to return to try other things on the menu. Good location and ideal for grab and go.

Why would I need priority seating if they aren't busy?! I let him choose the spot; I knew he'd pick something good and something close to my hotel. There was a bit of a wait when we got there, but it went pretty quickly (and bonus points for the live wait list, it's nice to be able to track where you are without having to wait to talk to a person.) Once seated, we took a closer look at the menu, then decided to share a selection of plates. (Side note for future me: I *really* need to stop telling people - especially guys - that I'm "so hungry I could eat my weight in [insert food item here] because that's never the truth and it always ends in me tapping early.) We ordered two of the Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, one Gourd Luffa, one pan-fried pork buns, one pork, shrimp and cabbage and one Four Happiness Kaofu. See? Way too much food for two people. I'd say my favorite was the Kaofu: wood ear mushrooms (such an underutilized vegetable!), braised tofu and bamboo shoots - you really cannot go wrong. The flavor was slightly sweet but also savory, and the mushrooms were the star. I was also pleasantly surprised by the gourd luffa. I'd asked my friend what it was, exactly, and he gave a description in the vicinity of "melon-like" that had me questioning his judgement...but it turned out to be so good! The flavor was very refreshing - surprising for a blustery winter night - it reminded me of a winter melon. The other dumplings were good, don't get me wrong. We enjoyed the flavors and the textures of the house xia long bao and the pan-fried dumplings (in all their squirting glory) were excellent and expertly created. It's just that the Kaofu and the Gourd Luffa were standouts.

Dish highlights include the shrimp and chive dumplings, beef chow fun, and my personal favorite, the stuffed eggplant. Other items were a little bland, like the turnip cakes and har gow, and the pan fried shrimp noodles were awkwardly plated and made them difficult to eat. I also wish they had rice noodle rolls, which I didnt see on the menu. Really what pushed it to 5 stars to me was the service. We came as a huge group of 20, with a baby and stroller in tow, and they handled everything without so much as a grimace, just an outpouring of helpfulness. They sat half our group at a round table and the other half at a rectangular long table and also helped us navigate dietary restrictions, asking specifically who in the group had those restrictions. The menu is labeled too, so you know which items are vegetarian or gluten free. At one point our helpful server noticed we hadn't really touched that awkwardly plated noodle dish and offered to replace it with another. We didn't take him up on that as I'd find that wasteful but I thought that was so attentive and earned them a generous tip. The space is nice looking, and the food came out very quickly. We also didn't break the bank, even with plenty of drink orders. Dao's is an easy recommendation, especially when you factor in how seamlessly they handled our chaos.

I was browsing for places with scallion pancakes and I came across this restaurant. I saw they had a scallion pancake beef rook which I'd never seen before. It was fried and crispy on the inside with tender beef on the inside, that was slightly savory slightly sweet. I had the roll on its own, which made for a light meal, but it can also be enjoyed as a large snack. It was a little greasy, which can be expected, but not sure if I'd get it again. I did think it was innovative though. The most impressive thing about the restaurant was actually the space. I came to pick up my food and was surprised to see this beautiful place. The outside is unassuming and nothing special but inside has the aesthetic of an old Shanghai restaurant. It's ornate and slightly quirky. It's also really big, bigger than I expected. Even the bathrooms had traditional Chinese flare with the sliding doors. Definitely worth checking out,

Some of the most memorable dishes were the Mapo Tofu ($13.99), Hutaoli Roast Chicken ($43 for whole), Spicy Pot Potato ($19), Roasted Green Beans ($22), etc. All of the food is good, but definitely pricey. While the food also came out quickly, our drinks came out towards the end of our meal. It's a good spot for big parties as it never got too busy even on a Saturday night. They also have private rooms. The live music was fun, but also made it hard to have conversation.
