This is my second time here, and I cannot believe I didn't write a review based on the first time! The service is impressive, with the waiters and waitresses being very attentive, but not pushy. And also willing to go over the menu with you or make recommendations. The ambiance is very low key, with low music playing, nice views of china town, and the tables are far enough apart that you can have a private conversation. The food is absolutely delicious, and I think I've probably tried the entire menu just from my two visits. But the standout has to be the popcorn chicken and the garlic noodles. I gave this spot two chances and was very disappointed both times. Walking around Chinatown, this spot catches your eye as the outside seems fairly more established than other spots, it's big and open, and seems more tourist friendly. You order at the counter here, sit down at one of their many tables, and they bring out the food for you. The first time I went here, it was crowded and there was barely any seats. I figured it must've been a pretty decent spot for so many people to come. So, my friends and I ordered a couple dumplings to share. Although they weren't the best, they were something to eat (because we were starving). Until I bit into one that was ICE cold--like, still was solid ice in the middle. It was disgusting. The second time I went here, I came with my partner and the place was fairly empty as it was a weekday (like there were only 3-4 tables out of their 15+). We waited at the counter to order for about 5 minutes before anyone came up. And, somehow the food coming out seemed even slower than last time (when it was super busy). This time, the quality seemed even worse. The taste wasn't bad, but it didn't look very appealing. In addition, they forgot one of the items we ordered. I want so badly to like/enjoy this place since I work so close but 20+ mins for one order while no one is here is a little ridiculous. (See photo for order. Yes, it was ONLY shrimp dumplings. Went to the SF for the China Town Festival and NBA All Star events. Stopped here for a quick bite. Had the Shrimp and Pork Sui Mui. Come 3 in a box. Guy at counter was welcoming. The place is fairly modern, but we didn't have a lot of drink options that day: hot green tea (and we got the last one) and cans of soda. As it was San Francisco, it's a bit overpriced for the quantity, but expected. The fried rice was good, hot and flavorful. The wagyu beef bao was definitely unique, with a heavy pepper flavor. The siu mai was fresh and tender. The shrimp dumpling was just ok. The skin was already breaking when you try to lift it up. And the xiaolong bao was not soupy or memorable. Came here right after 2022 Chinese New Year parade. Pretty busy at the time but definitely worth the wait. Get in line and order immediately; cashier will give you a table number then find a table. I recommend to have someone in your group to scope out a table while you order. Prices was a bit high; maybe it was jacked up during the parade. Food came out pretty quickly and was served mostly to go style w paper plates and plastic utensils. I had requested for chopsticks and was told they did not have any but I clearly saw plenty on the service counter. So I had to walk up to the counter and requested again. They have a sign on the counter that said not self service for customers but waiter said to help my self!? ...that includes soy sauce packets and chopsticks. Also self service for water. Food however was pretty tasty especially the wonton noodle soup; my favorite. Also ordered several other dim sum which were ok but definitely satisfied our cravings to celebrate Chinese New Year. We stopped in at Dim Sum Corner after the Warriors Championship Parade in SF today. We really enjoyed the food and the casual environment. We ordered the chow mein, wagyu beef bao, pork soup dumplings and pork and shrimp shui mai. Everything we ate was delicious but our favorite was the soup dumplings with a little kick of ginger in them. The chow mein was a great addition to our dim sum and was light but filling. Our service was pretty slow but I'm guessing that was due to the after-parade rush. The staff was really nice and apologized for the wait. Grabbed some dim sum at the corner! They had both indoor and outdoor seating available. The cashier in front seemed a little confused when we asked him if we needed to order first or if they'll be taking it at the table. Good dim sum [Chinatown in San Francisco] We had (takeout) dinner plans at another restaurant but we wanted to snack on something while in Chinatown. Many restaurants were closed for the day but we found this place open located on the corner of Grant Avenue and California Street across from the Old St Mary's Cathedral in the Chinatown neighborhood of San Francisco. While COVID restrictions were in place we were only able to do takeout. The menu board had a variety of dumplings and baos to choose from. That's it. We ordered 2 orders of the Classic Shiu Mai, $5.95/4-pcs... they were tiny pieces but filled with deliciousness which included pork, shrimps, and shiitake mushrooms. And like the 2000 Nicolas Cage film it was Gone in 60 Seconds. These delectable bite-size cooked-to-order dim sums were pricey for something so small a serving. Inside of the restaurant has a modern look with mural accents. Contrary to what their Yelp page states I didn't see a place for outdoor dining. We ate at the steps of the Old St Mary's Cathedral. I was going to give this place a 3.5 but went to 4 because no halfsies. Place is kept clean for the amount of people always in and out of here. Bathrooms available for customers. In desperate need of a snack and in need to rest from a long walk, I came across Dim Sum Corner. Now I love Dim Sum is how could I resist? Straight away it was pretty busy. There were many people sitting inside and many people in the line. But that's okay. The line moved fairly quickly. The menu is easy to navigate. Everything has its own category from the soups to the mini meals. There was even milk tea! And I love milk tea. So when it came time for me to order I just took some Shu Mai and a Jasmine green milk tea. They give you a number to take and wherever you sit (there's a lot of seating from counters to regular tables). I got my drink after about a minute and my food after three minutes. Love how speedy it was! I enjoyed the little dumplings. A nice little snack to have. But the milk tea was alright. I think it was a bit watery for my liking. 3.5 rating so round up to 4/5 read more

Time for an update. I have come here a couple more times just to give them a few more chances, and I have gotten more impressed with the food. The shrimping steamed dumplings are my favorite now. and The pork/shrimp open faced dumplings are also a good second choice. I also get them to go and head to the bus after work. The ONLY issue I currently have with this establishment is the lack of employees. I really wish they would hire more people. I feel horrible for the one gentleman who's trying to accomplish so many things at once. They make the dumplings: made-to-order, there's usually a line, the distance to the kitchen to the cash register is not short and the menu is not short but I know that it does take some time to register/process everything at once. Thanks to yelp friends, I was able to find this new dim sum fast casual restaurant at the corner of Grant and California. It's at the bottom of the old Cathay House and right at the edge of Chinatown. They offer classic dim sum fare, noodles and rice plates, a nice combo option (basically like a bento box) and boba. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and ordered the XLB deluxe and their super combo (Siu mai, sesame beef, salmon pastry puff and pork slider). The food was good value for money (it's not the best dim sum in town but definitely hits the spot when you are craving some Chinese food). It's not greasy either. With tax and tip, this was $25. It's a counter service situation and the decor is nice and modern. I would definitely come back here if I'm in the area. read more

Stopped in on a mid afternoon weekday. It's near the Chinatown Gate, so we decided to give it a try versus walking further into Chinatown. From the outside it would appear to possibly be an older, traditional establishment. However, inside it is quite modern. Almost had a "fast food" type of vibe. Menu is on the wall and you order at the counter and take your seat. We ordered beef shumai, egg drop soup, orange chicken, beef chow fun, and salt and pepper wings. Beef shumai was good - generous beef portion with good flavor. Orange chicken was just not great. Small pieces which seems like more skin than meat. Beef chow fun was decent - meat was tender and noodles were cooked correctly. Wings were okay - crispy and hot, but maybe too much salt. Self serve stations exist for water and soy sauce and other condiments. Not what I was looking for in a traditional Chinatown place, but maybe I let the modern look distort my overall impression. read more

I'm a huge fan of fast/fine casual and think it's high time that format came to dim sum. Because prior to this joint, you either had to commit to a sit-down pushcart experience or grab-and-go from places where the it's quite unknown how long ago things were made. Judging by the time it took to get my order, it seems like they make some of the items to order. XLB Deluxe Trio (Crab Roe/Truffle/Juicy Pork): A very rare item to find at a dim sum to-go place, so happy that they're offering a snack-sized version in a fast casual setting. It's got some soup inside, but not as a juicy as Yank Sing. The juicy pork was pretty much the standard; tasty as expected. Wasn't a fan of the crab roe since it had a grainy texture without adding much unique flavor. The truffle was very good though. Not sure exactly how much truffle vs. other fungi they used, but it sure had a nice umami kick. Classic Shiu Mai: Standard ground pork and shrimp. Didn't have any gristly pork chunks like cheaper dim sum to go places like to use. Macau Egg Tart: Ew, this is definitely no Gold Gate Bakery. Probably the most disappointing item I tried. The egg custard was dense and lukewarm instead of being airy and piping hot. Sesame Beef: Kinda like something you'd get at Panda Express. Breaded, fried crispy and slathered in a sweet and sticky sauce. Still indulgently tasty though, as Americanized Chinese food tends to be. Smoked Pork Belly Bao Slider: A do-it-yourself situation with three pork belly pieces on a skewer, a side of sauce and a bao. The pork belly was indeed smoky and just the right mix and firm yet tender. The bao was fine, nothing remarkable. The sauce was ok, would have liked it to be thicker.
