Finding a good value in San Francisco could be a challenge especially in the cheap and cheerful category. The best deals can be found at mom and pops restaurants and at hole in the walls around San Francisco. This place I went to has wonton soup under $10 . They also have a variety of Cantonese dishes all in the heart of Chinatown in San Francisco. On a November almost at the end of San Francisco Summer and Autumn month stroll in Chinatown I was fortunate to find Fortune Restaurant. Inside Fortune Restaurant there are a few tables. Here you will receive tea without paying for it unlike some places in SF. There is no gimmicks no long history story behind the restaurant. It's barebones minimum decor but the food tastes like you paid a small fortune and got a bargain basement deal for the food. I got the wonton soup and it was flavorful. It was soup for the soul on a day which is at the cusp of being a rainy day in the city. I then got the scrambled egg shrimp rice. It was delicious and savory and the shrimp was okay and complemented the wonton soup. It's one of the best places to grab comfort Cantonese food in San Francisco which will save a new fortune by going to New Fortune Restaurant on Stockton street. Come get food that is "Chinese"its made in the style of the region in China that's "Cantonese"a place you will get free cups of "hot teas "a good place to enjoy different tasty plates at New Fortune but here you will save some money also known as "cheese" It's located at 815 Stockton in San Francisco if you never "gone" you find a a new fortune here just get the soup "wonton" and here they only have shrimp which is okay and other meats but they don't have "prawn" this another recommendation from the San Francisco native "Don Juan"

You can honestly throw a dart in Chinatown randomly and it'll always land at a delicious place. As always, I have resorted to utilizing Yelp to ease my stress choice overload, which this place popped up. The salt and pepper pork (popular Yelp order) was very flavorful and tender with a very nice crispy outer layer. The beef pan fried noodles was tasty as well, with a duality of crunchy and al dente. Beef was tender and the bok choy was a nice complimentary ingredient, although it could use more bok choy. As always, and important, I love it when noodle portions are abundant. The front door server was friendly and nice. I also noticed a sense of community in this lowkey small business, assuming some patrons are regulars, and that is a good sign for a business to thrive.

Small business with reasonable prices located in Chinatown that opens slightly later compared to others! I ordered the beef chow fun to go, and although it looked so good, flavorful and dark, i was disappointed. The meat was tender and soft but the noodles lacked flavor. It did not have the typical rich soy sauce flavor. The restaurant is small, but the server was really sweet. Hoping it was an off day, and i would try giving their other menus a try.

Honestly, really enjoyed both items I picked up! Got the beef chow fun and seafood pan fried noodles! Really solid portion for both items plus easy order and pick up experience! You know the spot is bouta shmackk when the OGs are huddling over a kettle of tea! Will surely be back! Service and ambiance was decent too!!

We ordered takeout from this place for a family-style dinner at home with friends. The food overall was yummy and very affordable! Pickup was smooth as well. Wonton egg noodle soup ($9) is my go to here, add a little bit of white pepper to make it yummier! The restaurant makes good use of the tiny space and sharing tables is pretty common. One server taking all the orders from phone to in person, so at times you might need to walk up to the counter to order. Weekend can get quite busy, order 3 items: black pepper beef with rice ($12), wonton noodle soup ($9), and wonton rice noodle soup ($9), waited about 30 minutes. You get 8 wonton in your soup, they do not skimp out on at all. The wonton had plenty of filling and was flavorful. Not too salty either. The rice plate is a great size, super flavorful, not too oily for the protein as well. Great prices with options for everyone!

I find myself coming for lunch more often not because the food is good but the kitchen actually listens when i ask for low salt & less oil. Everywhere i go i ask for the same thing but they give me lip service, but not here, New Fortune honors my request and i appreciate that. This is a popular restaurant even on the weekdays so be prepared to wait for tables if you come during the lunch time rush.

Generous portions. Bring cash if you're buying something less than $20 or order something worth $20 because that's their minimum for credit cards. I got the HK noodles with pork chops for $13 (w/tax) and was not able to finish it for lunch and had to finish for dinner. Totally worth it. It's definitely for sharing and absolutely delicious typical hole in the wall Chinese fast food.

Found this small local business and wanted to give it a try. Honestly, the food was tasty. The soup with pepper had great flavor and just the right amount of heat. The service was very friendly, and they offered free hot tea, which was perfect for the cold weather outside. A cozy and welcoming spot with comforting food. Definitely worth a visit.

This was a nice little restaurant to drop by on a random Saturday. They were pretty busy in general with a lot of local customers. The patrons there were all pretty nice as well. Also expect to wait a bit for your food since I believe there's only one chef and one wait staff working there. But I do believe it is definitely worth the wait. The food was good and authentic. The portions are pretty large as well. It came out to be about $21 a person with enough food left over for maybe another meal or two, If I was ever back in Chinatown and had lots of spare time, then I would probably drop by this little restaurant again.

Visiting from Texas we wanted some yummy Chinese and this was a great pick suggested by my cousin who is a San Francisco local. The food was delicious and the servings were nice portions we had plenty to take with us. The service was great and the location was right in the middle of China Town. There weren't many people and the ambience was nice

Once they started calling tables, it moved really fast. When we were seated, we ended up sharing a table with two other groups of two. I actually didn't mind it at all because there was still enough space between everyone to have privacy. It also made the experience feel more social -- I ended up chatting with the people to my right and left about the food. Everything we ordered was really good. Their popular dry fried chicken absolutely lived up to the hype and was probably my favorite thing on the menu... besides the cherry pork. I feel like nobody talks about the cherry pork enough! It was SO good -- kind of like a sweet-and-sour pork without the sour. I dipped it in soy sauce because I loved the sweet and salty combo together. The dumplings were also really good. The wrapper was thin and delicious, but my boyfriend said he wished they had a little more protein filling and less leek. The green beans are always a hit. The only thing I probably wouldn't order again was the black bean sauce noodles. Maybe I just expected a different flavor, but to me they honestly tasted like regular lo mein. I'm also not a huge noodle person in general, so I'd probably skip them next time and order something else instead. Forgot to mention their prices are on point! Definitely recommend to any of the tourists. I think the weight is definitely worth it and I love being able to take home my leftovers and eating them for lunch and dinner the next day.

"Everything!" That's all one needs to say. At the entrance, clearly marked are signs reading, "Reservations" and "Walk-ins". Since we had reservations, we waited only a few minutes to get seated at the bar. The bar makes it easy to converse with your partner and to peer over as the fire from the range springs up from the kitchen. Our server brought us some "Free Bites" of roasted peanuts and smashed cucumbers. She was such a pleasant lady with quite the wit that made me laugh between courses. We ordered a full bottle of Negori sake. Note: if you do not finish the sake bottle, they cannot pack it to go for you, so drink up! Obviously, we couldn't order everything on the menu. For our first visit, we definitely wanted their special dish, Fried Squab. It was delicious! The meat was moist and the dipping salt with Sichuan peppercorn paired perfectly! Just don't focus too much on the visual... the head and claws. Hot Mustard Jellyfish Salad ~ I loved the "crunch" of the jellyfish and the hot mustard marinade was just spicy enough to start a slow burn up the nose. Beef Chow Fun Noodles ~ Delicious and so very savory. I was amazed at how flavorful this dish was without being salty. Clay Pot Rice w/Chinese Sausage & Bacon ~ Loved how the entire pot was seasoned nicely. The sauce did not only sit at the top, but penetrated deep down into the rice. XO Escargot w/Milkbread ~ I've only had French Escargot and these are just as good, if not better! Fish Fragrant Eggplant ~ Another savory and very umami dish. Red Bean Shaved Ice ~ Always a refreshing dessert. Dig in for the surprise in the center. We had such a nice, cozy dinner here. Even while at the bar, we never felt for lack of space. They paced the dishes out perfectly, so there was always room to eat and enjoy. Looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu.
