Hong Kong Steamed Juicy Pork Soup Dumpling
    Mary Anne W.

Came here Saturday noon, since there was a festival going on. First time at Asian Mall, the parking is pretty chaotic. The food area is located in the 1st floor, and the staff did not seem pushy at all like the rest of the clothing vendors around the mall. Instead she was patient with us because it was our first time. You get what you pay for of course, cheap dim sum, for okay taste. Hong Kong style soup was on sale that was good, very light in broth and our dim sum was still warm. The line was not long at all, maybe we just got lucky. I read the line can be long. My kids ate their food, so can't complain. Not a fan of the piggy buns, tasted dry. The shrimp rice roll was clumpy and not much flavor at all. The Shu Mai were huge, and tasted favorable and the soup was good. The soup dumplings were okay, at least it had soup in it.

Orange County just keeps upping their dim sum game! We had delivery after finding a two for one special and it was delicious! Definitely recommend the meatball soup. I enjoyed it so much I didn't even share with my family!

If only I read the reviews before order this. the meat is dry, dimsum is cold, never ever again

The vendor was pushy, food was alright. The Vietnamese coffee was very enjoyable. Not a place I will go back to.

This place is very good in my opinion. Beside dimsum items they have Com ga hai nam and wonton soup. Thai tea is great too

Located inside the Asian garden mall, once you enter from the north entrance it's on your right hand side. Decent dim sum food to go at a great price! Usually there's a line whenever I visit Dim sum bistro. You can order from the menu for more specialized items. The taste of the food is just okay but very appealing to the eyes. Depends on the day you go; sometimes you'll get fast customer service or have to wait a while. FYI - weekends and Asian new years/events they tend to get super packed. Parking can be hectic as well on certain days.

large sugar cane drink @ Dim Sum Bistro 2.18.24

2.18.24 Located in Asian Garden Mall. Lower 1st floor right near the front entrance of the mall. They have other items juices here but I'm reviewing only for their fresh press squeeze sugar cane drink. They offer 3 different sizes small, Large and XL My friend got us the XL size. It's pretty tall & slim cup. Coming to garden grove. Sugar cane juice is a must after a big lunch. It's light and so refreshing. They have the option to add kumquat to the juice. Lots of juice and not overly filled w just ice like a lot of locations that sell sugar cane juice. It was perfectly naturally sweeten. It's a food court so it has the food court atmosphere. Can't decor it too much but definitely looks pretty clean here. Highly suggest coming here for your sugar cane refreshment cravings/needs.

I received 3 color deserts (pink color). Other on board is advertised.

I was excited to try the Hong Kong style beef fried noodles, but they were incredibly disappointing. The noodles were soggy, and the beef was tough and flavorless. I also ordered the three-color dessert. The photo on the display showed vibrant, distinct layers, but what I received looked completely different and tasted awful. When I brought my concerns to the owner, she simply told me it was the three-color dessert and offered no solution. The quality was not what I expected.

They are one of the first stalls on the front side of Asian Mall. The ladies that work there are all smiley and welcoming. We wanted to try their dumplings soup just to try and sample and found it tasty! I feel like I would love to come back & try a full serving for all of us when it starts to get colder (and we're all hungrier). It's a warm-hug, comfortable bowl of Asian soup. And the price is under or around $10 which is pretty affordable--and I love my cheap eats. We were not looking for a full meal and weren't really hungry enough for snacks, but honestly I just couldn't resist the cute pig buns. I didn't know what was inside honestly & thought maybe they were pork fillings? But it was a sweet custard--good, but unexpected. And honestly, I just really thought it was too cute to not get. It's one of those gimmicks that just works for some people...and by some people I mean me. LOL! :-D Anyway, I recommend this place and hope people continue to support them.

This place is not viet authentic food I think. I ordered the bun rieu and some other foods but when the bun rieu came out I already it's not good to eat. Look so bad . Never see it like that before. Just a waste of money and time here.

    Pork soup dumplings
    Jacinda X.

Ordered through Ubereats because they had a BOGO deal! The dumpling were not as soupy, but it was a given since it was not fresh and was delivered. I wish there was more chopped up ginger and sauce for the dumplings. Next time we're in the Westminster area, we'll have to stop by and try more items.

    Vincent N.

Located inside Asian Garden Mall on the first floor. Ordered off of Postmates and they had some good BOGO deals. Ordered the juicy pork dumplings, wonton chilis, hainan chicken and rice, and the piggy egg bun. The dumplings and the wontons were decent (Not as juicy but still had some good flavor and seems to be made fresh). The egg piggy buns were decent too, nice sweet egg flavor. The Hainan Chicken was actually really good! The rice was buttery and the chicken was tender and juicy. I took off a star because they forgot the sauces for the chicken. Overall decent!

    Food selection

We decided to give this food stall in the food court inside the Asian Garden Mall a try on a recent visit on a Monday in January 2025. The food looks decent and there's quite a variety, and we tried the shiu mai, xiaolongbao, and wonton noodle soup. Only the wonton soup was fairly decent. The shrimp and pork shiu mai was dry and tasted old. The xiaolongbao was lukewarm and lacked any juice. I had better samples from Costco. $8 for the shiu mai and $9 for the xiaolongbao is pretty pricey for food court food. The service was friendly but you may want to pay in cash as they charge a flat 3% for credit card payments.

The dumplings are huge, generously filled, and really satisfying for the price. The kids loved them, and the all-you-can-eat option makes it a fun experience for families or groups. The quality can be a little inconsistent at times and it's definitely more of a budget-friendly comfort food experience rather than a high-end dim sum restaurant, but overall the food is tasty, filling, and fairly priced. Service was friendly, the staff kept things moving, and there are a ton of different options to try. I jokingly described it as "kind of like a Sizzler for dumplings" -- not as an insult, but because there's a huge variety of food and it has that casual, family-style comfort food vibe. If you go in expecting luxury dining, this probably isn't the place. But if you want good portions, variety, and a relaxed atmosphere, it's definitely worth checking out.

We went all out and ordered a ton of dishes including clams in basil, lobster, Peking duck, honey walnut shrimp, and shaken beef. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. Honestly, every dish was a hit with the table. Service was great throughout the night. Our server even brought the lobster out for a quick photo op before it was taken back to be prepared, which made the night feel a little more special. We ended up with around 12 main entrees plus some drinks, and the total was surprisingly affordable for the amount of food we ordered. Definitely a solid spot for group dinners and celebrations. Only downside is parking can be a bit tricky, especially on a busy weekend night, so plan a little extra time for that. Overall, would absolutely come back!

Whenever I'm in Garden Grove, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine will always take precedence. However,…read moremy most recent trip pivoted from the norm, and Noodle Star became the destination. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2). Bathrooms were mostly clean and the seating options were plentiful; solid for large and small group action. Parking can be tough on the weekends since it's a strip mall. I already know that I'll be back. If I was able to order 4 regions and they all came out excellent (#3), I can only imagine how excellent the rest of the house special group of dishes will be. __________ (#1) "Essence of the wok" -- it's a thing. This helped us get a table much faster than we would have than if we had just shown up and waited. We ordered the large family meal, and there were 12 of us. We also ordered the Newport Lobster, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and an extra shrimp fried rice. Overall, I think the food was good, and the prices are reasonable (except the lobster, which was pricey, as you might expect from anything listed as "market price"). Most of us in the group thought the fish fillet with black bean sauce was the best. I thought it was very good, but not necessarily fantastic. (There are other Chinese restaurants that do it a little better.) The sauce was very good, but the fish wasn't quite as tender as it can be. Definitely a solid 4 stars. Other dishes were good. I think the scallop soup could have been great for some people, but my wife and I both hate cilantro, and there was a ton of cilantro. The pork was also good, and my friends thought the clams were also really good. I found the fried rice a bit bland. And for both the lobster and the crab, they could have made them a little easier to eat by cracking the shells a bit more for us. I hate fighting with my food ... And there was a fair amount of fighting on these 2 dishes. The lobster cost almost much as all the other dishes combined. It certainly looked amazing. And the sauce was very good. But I found most of it a bit overcooked. Maybe it was our fault for asking for a big one. Maybe a smaller lobster might have been cooked a little less. The great sauce (along with the fighting with the shell) might have covered up the fact that the meat was actually a bit tough and rubbery. I don't think I'd order this again. The service was very friendly and pretty fast. And, again, other than the lobster, the pieces were pretty reasonable.

We ordered the classic dishes, including salt and pepper fried pork chopsand salt and pepper fried shrimp, but the taste this time around left a lot to be desired. These two dishes lacked the crunchiness and flavors that these fried entrees are supposed to showcase. We found the pork chops to be dry and tough, as if it was prepared a while ago and sitting out for some time before it made its way to our table. The shrimp was not impressive either. At least the shaking beef or bo luc lac was good. The beef chunks were tender, and the flavors were on point. Bonus points for the broth that is complimentary during lunch. Also the complimentary orange slices were a nice touch to end our meal. We'd still return for the lobster and noodle when the occasion comes up.

we came here for a family meal and decided to go all out with the lobster definitely didn't expect…read moreit to be that big. it had to be around 20 lbs, which was kind of insane in the best way. super fresh, great texture, and honestly the highlight of the whole meal. the rest of the food was solid too, so overall we were enjoying everything. the only thing that threw me off a bit was when i went to the bathroom and noticed live lobsters being kept in cardboard boxes right near the restroom area. it didn't completely ruin the experience for me, but it was a little surprising to see, especially since that area can get high traffic and not the cleanest. it just raised a small concern about food handling and cleanliness. that said, the meal itself was really good and the lobster especially stood out and stir fried clams. i'd still come back, but i hope they consider storing seafood in a more appropriate space just for peace of mind.
