Picked up a Too Good To Go surprise bag from 405 Vietnamese in Westminster and WOW -- this one hit the spot! Pickup was super easy and fast, I was in and out in about 2-3 minutes. Just showed the app, grabbed my food, and was good to go. I ended up getting two plates: One with white rice and two fried chicken drumsticks -- crispy and flavorful. The other with dry noodles, shredded chicken, and a side of soup. I warmed up the soup, tossed in the noodles and chicken, added a little sriracha... perfection. TLDR: It's one of those restaurant that will feel you and nothing else. The food is fine, decent even. It's just not a place I'd be looking forward to go back to unless they have a deal that I can't pass up. Chicken pho: Middle of the pack pho that have generous portions. I'm not a big fan of the fried scallions, but I understand their importance in flavoring the meal altogether. There was enough broth for 2 meals if you ration it, and the quality stayed the same even after reheating. Ground pork w/ Egg Noodles: My preferred dish between the 2 that I got. The egg noodles were cooked very well and the ground pork topping paired with it quite nicely. The pork was seasoned well, and the sauce made sure that the meal tasted the same the entire way. I would've liked it more if there was 10-15% more, but those are probably their margins. Service: I ordered to go, so there's not much to talk about here. Ambiance: Classic Garden Grove/Westminster vibe. Lights that haven't been changed in a decade. I tried out this place today. Third time was a charm, twice before I came to check it out and it was closed both times. First impression, the condiment jars looked dirty and unappetizing. I ordered a bowl of Hu Tieu Nam Vang and another order of bowl of Wonton Satay. I found a strand of black hair while digging through the bowl of noodle with my chopsticks, so I alerted the server to replace me another one. She was happy to oblige. My new bowl was free of hair, but the bowl of wonton satay didn't have any sate in it. I didn't want to say anything anymore and tried to eat the food. There was nothing great about the soup. We have not be back here for many years. We decided to revisit on a weekday to try their dim sum menu. This is not a place for your Sunday dim sum get together with family and friends to drink tea and catch up. They only have a handful selection for appetizers and then people can order noodles to complete the meal. We ordered a few usual dim sum dishes and they came out nice and hot. The taste of the dim sums was just okay, not bad however not great either. They do have a few promotions going on such as buy 2 noodles and get a free chicken dish or the price of the dim sum is less if you order more. Their noodle bowls were big and lots of toppings. I came here for lunch with my parents for the first time. While the food was good and the portions were decent, the experience left much to be desired. They advertised a "buy 2, get 1 free" promotion for noodles, but they didn't honor it as expected. The owner and server seemed annoyed when explaining the promotion, which caused unnecessary confusion--maybe it's an issue for other customers as well? The BOGO drinks were as advertised, but they only filled the cups about 1/4 full and packed the rest with ice, leaving a noticeable gap. If you're going to do that, smaller cups might be better. In the end, we paid for three bowls of noodles and got one to-go for free, but they never asked which noodle option we wanted for the free bowl. When I requested to-go boxes to pack my leftovers and asked for separate containers for soup and noodles, the server rudely told me they only had one type of container. However, the to-go order we received clearly had different containers. The lack of communication, poor transparency, and rude service made the experience feel untrustworthy.
