First of all the food was amazing and the service very prompt as always, even though we had a very large group. We chose to meet here at this location monthly. I realized later I was missing my wedding ring! After searching everywhere I feared I may have lost it wiping my hands of all that delicious barbecue sauce. I called amd spoke to Logan, the manager. No one had found a ring. He was so kind and concerned he offered to search the trash bags from earlier. In the meantime I unpacked my artificial Christmas tree I diligently compressed branch by branch to store back in the box. My ring fell out with a clink. I immediately called Logan back hoping to catch him before he finished the task. He had already finished and left me a message he had not found my ring. Who else would go that extra mile to do that? After a long day at the zoo with my seven-year-old daughter and exhausted best friend we discovered our car battery had died. To make things worse, my new cell phone battery had died from all the picture taking during the day. We were stranded! They completely lack varied of veggies or any veggies at all. They offered me an onion/bell pepper combo! what kid eats a side of onion/bell peppers with their meal??!! I don't think I'll order again in the future. I ordered steak fries with all the meals & didn't get ANY steak fries. They were small regular fries. For myself, I tried the chicken taco salad option. It was blah & boring. I thought it was going to be shredded chicken with BBQ sauce in the bottom but I was sadly disappointed. We picked up our Thanksgiving meal today. I added to our current order, 6 days before pickup (today) and the person that I talked to said it was added to my current order. It was not. Just found out when we got home. We were missing gravy (from first order), add ons that were missing and not added for our pickup order- one rack of ribs, potato salad and pulled pork. I get it's a busy time if the year but still. The pulled pork was not as it normally is cut up and looked like it was in a lot of water. The zoo and restaurant perfect for not being too busy yet before being asked if patio seating was okay I looked out to see the heaters and asked if I hose were on then yes. They said yes we can turn those on for you. After four times asking for the heaters to be lit another tables Guest got up to turn it on. It ran out of propane five minutes later before ever really heating up. They brought out a propane tank for another heater near other tables. We just froze but the worst part was the food. Not only was it not very good when it did come out but for 7 guests it came out in waves and the last two waiting for Their food waited for at least ten minutes. We returned to Dillon's at the wildlife zoo on a Friday Night. OMG! The place was so busy. We were added to the wait list and told thet it would be about 20 minutes, so we went to the bar to find seating, Not! There was a band playing and people were not budging. That's okay, I can stand and enjoy a beer! We stood there for 35-40 minutes and finally someone left. Thank you! We were only in our seats for 5 minutes before being called. We were seated near the aquarium which is always a treat! I ordered the KC sandwich and my wife got fried fish and shrimp. Both were very good. The young lady who served us was very friendly and attentive. The evening was enjoyable, but I think I will try to avoid the crowd in the future. I would not deduct a star or four stars even if the food wasn't served perfect (although it was today and typically is very tasty!!). OR sit outside if the weather is right and dine outdoors in their HUGE patio area and watch the flamingos on the flamingo island located within feet of your outdoor table!!! They are very enjoyable to watch!! Dine in or out and you will experience an EXPERIENCE!! The food is a four-star rating typically in my opinion. Sometimes it is not perfect, maybe the mac and cheese isn't hot as we like it (it was HOT today and tasty!!), but I will NEVER leave here unhappy!! NOPE, not possible!!! We go there because it's a nice place to sit down with a cold drink, and a quick bite. my wife and I have been going to Dillons at the zoo for quite a while now. The food has always been very good, until last night. My wife and I were celebrating our 50 year wedding anniversary and since we don't have any relatives in town we decided to go to Dillons it's always been good. Last night we were in there at 4:00 PM. I ordered the catfish platter and my wife ordered the mushroom Swiss burger., and we had the onion rings as an appetizer. my catfish was cooked on the top half but the bottom half seemed very raw. I managed to eat one piece of the fish and it didn't even go down well at the time I am the type of person I hate to complain and I should've sent it back last night, but decided not to. My wife's mushroom burger was way overcooked. It was very dry, no juice at all, and like me she ate about half of it. By the time we were leaving the restaurant, both of our stomachs started to churn. Once at home, we could not get out of the bathroom. This was very unusual for food. The onion rings were very good as always. In hindsight, we should've both sent our food back. The only thing positive about the restaurant was our server, she was very, very good and very friendly. I got the build your own platter so I picked the burnt ends and the brisket. The brisket was a tad dry but tasted quite good and there was plenty of sauce so it wasn't a problem. I got the mashed potatoes with brown gravy and baked beans as my sides and they were both very flavorful and delicious. Good food. The salads are great. Good menu selection, and while I am not a fan of their BBQ sauce options, their smoked meats are really good! The girls at the bar are great, and offer good service. Sometimes if it is super busy it may be a little slow, but no complaints. They check on us often. The bar side is nice enough (what you might expect for a bar). High tops, lots of TVs with different shows and games (seasonally). On music nights though, if you are going with anyone you want to be able to talk to, the bar is NOT your side. Sit on the tank side. For that small space of roughly 12 (ish) tables, the bands play their music WAYYYY too loud. All of the tables are yelling over the music and each other just to put their order in, much less just socializing. They really could have it about 1/2 of the volume and it would be great! When we know bands are coming up, we scarf down food to get out before they start, LOL!! All in all, always a good experience. read more

This is my friend's favorite restaurant and she took me here for my birthday lunch. It was a great time! You can eat here without paying admission to the zoo, and you still get to see a few of the animals. Outdoor seating has a wonderful view of the flamingos. We sat indoors and we're fortunate to get a spot right next to the shark tank. I loved watching the sharks swim past throughout our meal. I really enjoyed the food as well! I ordered the blackened cod sandwich which was delicious. I tried both macaroni & cheese and broccoli cheddar soup for sides. The macaroni had corn mixed in which would have been nice to know beforehand but wasn't bad. The soup was great! I also was able to easily order a "mocktail" version of one of the margaritas on the menu which was a big plus. All staff and servers we interacted with were very friendly too. We have dined here many times throughout the years and have never had any issues. On this particular visit, our service was amazing! We decided to sit outside and our server was quick to take our order. She was super friendly! She had small conversations with both our kids and that made them feel special. It was also chilly once the sun went down so we asked for a patio heater. The manager was quick to bring and set it up. He was so polite and again he had small talk with our children. Now for our food, it was so yummy! Everything was just as we ordered, the food was hot and fresh. My husband got an alcoholic drink and he said it was prepared really well! Also to mention that their dining area and bathrooms are clean and there's plenty of parking, unless you come during the busy zoo hours, parking can be hard to find. read more

I would love to thank Dillon's for helping me out. I had booked another restaurant & when I called to confirm they told me they had no openings for groups before New Year's Eve. I called Dillon's at the last minute & they took in a lonely group of seniors & we had a great time. Everyone loved their food & some even had takeout bags with leftovers. Mine were just as good 2 days later as they were that night. We sat on the patio & some people who have lived in the area for at least 20 years said I'm coming back with my grandkids so they can watch the flamingos. We all saw them & as the sun went down they fell asleep. It was pretty quiet except for the 20 plus seniors who were conversing with neighbors they haven't actually spoken with or chatted to since Covid. Again thank you Dillon's your the best. read more

We came into the restaurant unexpectedly as we were in the zoo and this was an amazing experience. I've been to other Dillons before but this was a stunning experience with the aquarium. Dinning with the sharks was a unique and beautiful distraction as we enjoyed our chicken and macaroni. The air conditioning was so refreshing on a hot summer day! I recently ate at Dillon's KC BBQ! The food was divine as was the service. Our waitress was extremely attentive. Dillon's makes their own onion rings and our group of three women thoroughly enjoyed them. I ordered the two meat platter with pulled chicken and rib. The serving was large enough for leftovers for supper! I bought a slice of cheesecake to take home and I have to say it might have been the best cheesecake I've ever had! I've been here twice now, and it really hasn't changed over the years. Located at the wildlife world zoo but has a separate entrance so you can visit Dillions and not enter the park if you wish. I love sitting next to the shark tank and enjoying some really great barbecue. You can't go wrong when choosing a meal, from their Smoked Choice Beef Brisket to their Pulled Pork Sandwich it's all delicious. Our server Sam was outstanding, so friendly and welcoming. Of the dining options at Wildlife World Zoo, Dillon's was the most appealing after 5 hours and over 9,000 steps! From the aquarium, you can access a side entrance, and a staff member will stamp your hand to allow reentry into the zoo. You have a choice to sit at the bar for immediate service, outside to chill with the flamingos, or inside to hang out with the sharks. My girlfriend and I went for that third option. We should've went with the bar. It was one hell of a wait to be seated (definitely longer than the "5-10 minutes" they mentioned), and although we did get a great table right next to the aquarium, our energy levels were ever so depleted. So, tip of all tips, grab a seat at the bar if you're maximally tired and hungry! Girlfriend got the Angus burger. I got the BBQ Brisket Sandwich. We both ordered fries as our side dishes; if you order any one of their platters, you can add 2 sides. My sandwich (pictured) looked like nothing to write home about, but I was genuinely impressed by the brisket. Each piece was tender, flavorful, and generously enhanced by the mild BBQ sauce. The bun was toasted and soft, and I enjoyed every bite of this comfort food. The fries were flavorless, so I'd prescribe a pool of ketchup at the ready. As soon as we were able, we paid the bill and headed right back to our zoo activities. Dillon's should've been a quick spot to refuel, and refueled we were. Sister and I took our mom out for lunch on a weekday and we all had a tasty meal. The service is above average but nothing spectacular. We loved watching the baby sharks and fish while dining. Their patio with the flamingos looks fun as well but it was a little too chilly to sit outside in early March. We ordered the fried mushrooms as an appetizer, also had the bbq chicken, salad and the French dip. Definitely the smoked French dip was the shining star. Moist and tender beef sandwich with au jus not too salty. I did ask for a side of tomato for the sandwich and it never arrived. I was too hungry to wait for the waitress to come back around so I did without.
