But staff have always been welcoming ro us 30 minutes to closing the restaurant and we're never forced out. This restaurant is not about the food, it's about the big fish tank that you get to watch while you're eating the food. We had the fish tacos (salty), with mac & cheese (pass! Lukewarm and super flavorless) and their baked beans. Their baked beans are great if you like a little kick to them, which I do. The blue cheeseburger is a total pass. The vibe of Dillon's is definitely the highlight. It's connected to the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium, and a big part of the restaurant looks into the shark tank, so you get to watch shovelhead sharks, a zebra shark, and other fish swimming while you eat. The bar side has a patio that faces the flamingo enclosure, which is also a fun and unique touch. That part alone makes the visit worthwhile. As for the food, I ordered the French dip. It was okay, but not great. The prime rib was really fatty and overly smoky. If you like smoky and fatty meats, you might enjoy it more than I did. Portion size was fair, but the au jus wasn't really au jus--it was more of a substitute sauce. Fries were good, though portions seemed inconsistent from table to table. We got a decent amount, but others around us had noticeably more or less. The service left a lot to be desired. It wasn't packed, but our table felt neglected. Our waitress was forgetful and we had to ask three times just to get to-go containers. On top of that, the food runner brought someone else's food to our table before realizing it wasn't ours. Nothing terrible happened, but the service was definitely off. Overall, the only real reason to visit is the cool atmosphere and the view of the animals. We had a day enjoy enjoying the zoo and aquarium together. Dillons was nearly attached to the wildlife park. We enjoyed margaritas and amazing barbecue dishes that offered plenty of options from full meat plates to adding sides and even offered salads or light bites if you have less of an appetite. My wife and I were going to the casino and remembered our uber driving told us about Dillon's last time we went gambling. Since it's right across the street from the casino we decided to check it out. We were seated right away by the aquarium and were greeted immediately by our waitress. She took our drink orders and gave us a minute to check out the menu. My wife settled on the roast beef over Texas toast with mashed potatoes and gravy on top. I chose the French Dip since I have to try one at every restaurant we go to. My wife liked her meal, the Coleslaw she said was ok, but the meal was good. My French Dip was good. The meat had a Smokey flavor which was probably on the menu but I missed it. I'm not a huge fan of smoked meats but it was tender and had a good flavor. The fries were crisp and had a nice flavor. I got a taco salad that cost quite a bit and it literally tasted like nothing... you'd think they would season the meat so that it tastes like taco but it didn't taste like ANYTHING. I often avoid the Dillon's restaurant at the zoo because of the many families and it is often too busy to enjoy a relaxing meal. This time we enjoyed a weekday visit to the zoo and decided to have an early dinner at Dillon's. I was happy to see that they still offer the Brontosaurus Beef Rib Platter as a big lover of beef ribs. Since I don't eat a lot of sugar I asked for my ribs with no BBQ sauce and I was told that would be no problem because they were smoked and would be good naked without sauce. And yes they were. We celebrated a college graduation gathering from all over the country on 1 June 2025. Our graduate picked this location for the gathering after visiting with his family the week prior and was impressed. We agree with his impression after dinning there today. The food was plentiful, tasty and prepared perfectly. The cocktails were some of the best made after trying other local restaurants drinks. They should teach a bartenders class to the locals! The service was spot on. After dinner we toured their zoo. The zoo is one of the best attractions we had visited here in the Phoenix area. The animals are well cared for and the posted information is updated frequently. Our favorites were the seals, otters and monkeys. Ok, this review is long overdue; Food: I really like the bar food selections, I have had several different items and my favorite is the pulled pork nachos. We went there this past Friday night, I had the prime rib and it was absolutely perfect. Husband had the spicy smoked meat platter and he said everything was awesome. Service: I guess we luck out because we always have great servers whether we eat in the bar or on the patio. Ambiance: Here is where I need to report that all of the times we have been here everything is great! Except, my understanding is that there is no smoking or vaping, unfortunately someone forgot to be very specific and include NO CHEWING of Tobacco either. We were sitting at the bar and ordered food. A young couple came in and sat at the bar next to me, they each asked for a plastic cup with a napkin inside and proceeded to spit chew into it the entire time we were there; and the bartender NEVER said a word to them. Our food came out and I had to sit sideways so as not to see them continually spit in their cup, at that time there were no more tables available and patio was closed for private party. Dillon's coming back strong and for us today the experience was wonderful. I've been taking my kids here for well over a decade and my now grown kids still talk about the aquarium views while they ate. We haven't been in so many years so we decided to stop by today with my teens after a few hours at the zoo. Service was friendly and we were seated within minutes on the patio. The menu had so many good options that it took us a minute to decide. We settled on there's combo with coleslaw, Mac and cheese and a side of baked beans. The ribs were falling off the bone, the pulled pork was to die for and with the Cajun bbq sauce ...yum! The brisket was equally as good, but if I chose a favorite of the three mine would be the pork. All of the sides were good although the beans were too sweet for me so I probably wouldn't order them again. The hit for is by far was the stew. It had a perfect kick! I could see eating that as a main meal with salad etc. with the large pieces of meat and all the flavor it was so satisfying on this little chilly of a day . It reminded me of a cozy dinner on a cold day at home. SO GOOD! The kids chicken tender meals came with 7/8 pieces and they had to take some home. We had a great time here. Highly recommend the fried pickles, which are battered (not breadcrumbs). I got the chicken platter which is a good amount of food. It comes with two sides and you get to pick them--potato salad, mashed potatoes with chicken if gravy, coleslaw, fries, veggie, Mac and cheese (which comes with corn in it, which I haven't seen before)--and you select one of three bbq sauces.
