Good range with good equipment. Only issue is when I was leaving I got in trouble for walking to my truck with my two guns IN THEIR CASES during ceasefire. I don't understand how leaving the range with your guns in their bags is a saftey issue. So if I walk out with my rifle in hand and ceasefire is NOT in place at that time, thats ok? You will break there rules without even knowing. Would not recomend this range to new shooters as they will get yelled at for a small mistake. Good for sighting a scope or pistol practice. read more

I have been out there a few times to shoot on their 100 yard rifle range. Super people never had any issues. RO's are particular about coming and going with your weapon for all our safety so see them first before you bring your gear out of your trunk or load up to leave if you're new here. Usually several precision shooters on site when I been there everyone was friendly and helpful. They do have a longer range 200-300 I think have not tried it yet through. Going the back way down Walerga is pretty fast way way closer to me that SVSC though I have to say they are in a different class of facility . read more

Disappointing. First thing, website says free to active duty service members. It has been every time I've gone in the past. The dude charged me $10. Cool. Second. After checking in, I prepare to move my rifle onto the range and they call cease fire, so I place my rifle, still cased, on the ground behind my vehicle and standby to wait. At this point, one of the RSOs comes flying out screaming "IT'S A CEASE FIRE." I am confused. I am in the parking lot, my rifle bag is currently on the ground and I am not touching the bag. He then screams again "IT'S A CEASE FIRE, PUT YOUR GUN IN THE CAR." Hm, I have never been to a range where the cease fire extends to a parking lot. So that's new. They just make you wait outside with your bag. Including previous visits to this range, where I have approached the entrance and waited there while the cease fire is in effect. So, keep my $10. I shot there for free before, I'll consider that overdue payment for services rendered. No skin of my back. But fix that knucklehead. Good luck to you. I will not be returning. read more

The only reason I would give this place a bad review is to keep the range less busy. I went there for the first time today and it was very welcoming. Having only been to my Departmental range previous to this, I was happy that the safety and range master ran a safe line. Those who complained about this place maybe feel comfortable around a bunch of "unknowns" while shooting... I do not. I like having rules followed so I'm not being lasered and dont have to worry about negligent discharges. Sam, Dennis and I think the other gentleman's name was Bob were great. Knowledgeable and gun fanatics. They even let me borrow a sighting sled as I was there to sight in a few rifles. They offer discounts for veterans which is awesome and respectful. Awesome outdoor range, over 30 benches, friendly staff (yes they will get on you for touching anything on bench while cease fire AS THEY SHOULD!) Safety first and Dillman Range is a testimony to that. After my first day there, George made me feel very comfortable for my first range shoot at a CA range (most places when I lived in Nevada there was no Range Officer, just people following rules and respecting each other(it worked!). After my first time there, I felt immediately welcomed. Other friendly owners, lots of awesome different firearms. This place was really nice and clean, I've been to a few ranges and this is up there with all the rest. I came here to compete in a 3 gun competition and it was pretty well organized still a few hiccups but I will be coming back to shoot a few. read more

Keep your firearm in the car until they say ok to bring it out. Read and follow the rules (that are there for everyone's safety) and you'll have a good time. Our gun jammed on the first shot and they were nice enough to give us a hand trying to fix it. Unfortunately, it was too severe of a jam and had to be taken to a gunsmith, but the staff gave us a refund (without asking). We got the gun back a few hours later and took it back close to closing time to test it. They were nice enough to let us fire off a few function fires with no charge. read more

They are super safe and very controlled... except to when it comes to CA firearms laws. I love coming here, but it's not worth the risk with all the new laws out there and they pick which ones they will abide by. Could be worse though, at least they're not spenceville. read more

Nothing bad to say about this range. Only waited for a lane one time on a weekend and I try to go at least monthly.

Zero Stars! This place is terrible. Hours always change, range masters are rude and are not people friendly, and the rules are extremely strict. I understand having rules to maintain complete safety, but a lot of the rules are unnecessary. Check out the indoor range off of Watt Avenue or find some BLM land. read more

Let me start by saying I was a member of this range several years ago. It was a great place at the time and I felt very comfortable and welcomed when I went there. A few medical issues and a couple of years later I decided I would go back and maybe join up again. Upon arriving, I was surprised to see the range was in worse shape then when I was a paying member. What had they done with all the revenue? Nothing was improved. Unpainted wood, same smelly potra-potty, and the frames which to attach targets to looks like they haven't been replaced in several years. Not sure I wanted to join again, I decided to just pay for the day and then decide. I am glad I did. The RSO was a joke. He wore no vest, hat, badge, or anything to identify himself as such. He was very rude and acted like I was an inconvenience to him because he had to stop talking to his buddies and sign me in. After setting up on the pistol bench, I tried to find a target frame that wasn't all shot up and had enough cardboard left I could actually staple a target to it. I asked the RSO if I could get another piece of cardboard, but again I was an inconvenience to him and he just simply handed me another frame and said it "will do". Trying to set the frame into the makeshift cinder block stands was another joke and I never did get it to stand straight up or to stop bouncing around from the light breeze. I thought they would of replaced this half ass system a while ago. During the live fire he never walked the line, checked on other shooters, or anything I would expect an RSO to do, he just simply turned and began talking to his buddies again. After a time on the pistol range, I moved to the rifle range, the real reason for my visit. With my move, my disappointment followed. I had a semiauto shotgun that I had replaced some seals in and needed to function check, and an AR with an adjustable gas block that needed to be tuned. After speaking with RSO Inconvenience, I was ok to shoot the shotgun on the rifle range as long as it was not at a target frame. No problem, I completely understood that. During the cease fire I decided to run the target frame out for my rifle, as I knew I would only be a few minutes with the shotgun and I didn't want to wait again for another cease fire before I could begin on the AR. After the range went hot, I loaded 1 shell and fired to the left of the target stand. You would of thought I blew out the window in this guy's car. He jumped all over my shit saying I was shooting the target after we had talked that it would not be happening. I told him I was aiming left of the frame and that there was no marks on the shoot-n-see target and that I placed the frame out there for when I switched to the rifle. This calmed him a bit but I could tell he just didn't want me there. Determined now to just do what I needed and to leave, I loaded 3 shells and again fired to the left of the frame. This time I was shooting too fast for him. He placed his hand on my shoulder and began to spin me around while saying they have a 1 shot per second rule. I was firing about 2-3 seconds per shot! Who the hell wants to shoot a 12ga that fast anyways! AND WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU GRAB AND SPIN SOMEBODY AROUND WHILE THEY ARE SHOOTING!!!! Fine, shotgun goes back in the case and I am now more then ever ready to leave, but I still have the AR to adjust. I set it up and send 1 round down range. Bolt does not lock back so I drop the mag, lock the bolt to the rear, safe the weapon, and even throw in a chamber flag, trying to keep RSO Inconvenience happy. Nope. Anyone who has an AR with an adjustable gas block knows it's towards then end of the muzzle and you need to use small allen wrenches to adjust it. Again, i suffer the wrath of the RSO, saying gunsmithing should be done at home, not on their bench. I explained about the gas block and he just walked away. A few more rounds and some more adjustments and I was done with shooting, and done for good with this range. I will be happy to drive the extra 15 minutes it will take me to go to sac valley, especially since they now cost the same. This place has totally changed from what I remember. It seems like if you aren't one of the 'good 'ol boys", you won't be welcome, at least not by RSO Inconvenience. read more

Are you kidding me ? What happened to the other older YELP page with about 50 reviews on it, and the majority of those were BAD reviews?? Wow, neat trick DIllman !!! I am not going to write a small book like on the original YELP review of this place. This one will be much shorter. I have been going to ranges for 50 years (started when I was 11 years old) and this place has got to employ the most rude, crude, haters of humanity I have ever seen at any range and that includes both in the military and the PD. I have been to ranges hundreds of times and these people are the worse I have ever experienced. Last time I was there myself and my Son-in-law left early due to the un-needed harrassment. To be fair there were a couple range master people working there who were descent BUT the nasty ones were just too much to take. Go at your own risk, perhaps things have changed, perhaps they havent, I for one will never go back. $15.00 to be talked to like a dog, I dont think so !!!! read more
