My husband has been a CCW holder for about a decade. I've wanted to do the same but held off because I was incredibly anxious about qualifying. The idea of that pressure of proving myself kept me from completing the process for a very long time. My husband has had John Taylor as his instructor several times and encouraged me to give it a try. I did. And honestly, I feel the most stupid about waiting for so long. The experience was straight forward, thorough and nothing to be nervous at all about. read more

John is great! He is extremely knowledgeable about his craft and his teaching style is easy to comprehend. The hands-on approach allowed me to walk away feeling more comfortable and confident handling a firearm. It goes without saying that I would highly recommend John to absolutely anyone. Regardless of your skill level, I am confident that there is still something anyone and everyone can learn from going through one of his courses. Thanks John! read more

I've used this company now four times for my CCW renewals. What can I say: they're absolutely fantastic. They give you a very informative classroom experience. Period. The main Instructor-Davis, worked as a corrections guard for years. He gives us some good information about when it's appropriate and not appropriate to use as well as plenty of instruction on the range to safely handle manipulate and use our firearms. I purposely drive 40 miles from my house just to use this agency. I wouldn't use any other. One thing that Davis said that I can appreciate being a business owner myself was this-he appreciates returning students as that is a complement to their instruction. read more

Very informative class! I'm glad I went here vs anywhere else! I would and will absolutely recommend John and Mike to anyone who considering getting their CCW (or evening basic handgun training) if for absolutely nothing else, to gain some more knowledge- we owe it to ourselves and those around us with weapon handling. John actually gave me some tips on dry firing and on the second day of the class I was noticeably better. Some things are learned through reading and watching videos; and others are from people who've had the experience sharing them with you in person. Mike and John are a vast wealth of knowledge- I will absolutely be back again in 2 years for renewals. read more

Very professional. Learn while you qualify. Comfortable classroom, nearby range, but no shade, be prepared.

Was a bit concerned about feeling safe out on the target range but John and Chris are thorough PROS. Not a chance of any mishaps with these two. With the tight organization, systems in place and oversight, there was not a second I felt at risk. All nine in the class did great with our accuracy due to Chris' instruction. Very happy I took this class. Happy to recommend and encourage everyone to take this course for the safe handling of your firearm. read more

I can't say enough good things about Best Handgun Training. My wife and I took separate Handgun Training Classes this past week. Both of us learned more than we expected and had fun doing it. John and his staff teach everything from beginners to advanced with a focus on SAFETY, which is the most important aspect of firearm training. Classroom was informative and as much time as needed was given for questions and answers. I was particularly impressed with how John organized our group at the range. We highly recommend Best Handgun/CCW Training and will be taking more training classes even before required for licensing. read more

I just attended the basic firearms course. The instructors were awesome! The classroom lecture was very informative and the instructors encouraged and answered all questions. The range portion of the class focused on SAFETY and getting all students comfortable with their firearm. I personally haven't shot a gun in almost 30 years. After the class I was very comfortable with my new pistol. All students started the range portion with provided 22 caliber handguns to learn the safety aspects of using a shooting range. If you gring your own firearm or use a class issued 22, you will walk away much more informed and comfortable using a gun. read more

Great training school. John (the owner) is such a nice and knowledgeable person about gun law. I live in Elk Grove, CA and was referred to this training school to get the necessary training to obtain a CCW. I'm so glad I came here. I am a first time gun owner and was a little bit nervous. Mike made me comfortable and tailored the class to me. I can now: 1, Handle a pistol safely, load it, handle issues that come up (jams), shoot it accurately and quickly. 2. Disassemble, clean and store my pistol. 3. Understand the legalities and responsibilities of ownership. Mike provided many real life examples and I feel confident in my knowledge of the law. I learned all these things in just a few hours and was given drills to practice on my own to become more proficient. Great class. Don read more

Good teaching techniques. I've been here two times for different courses and enjoyed both.

John and Darren were awesome. The material was very informative and thorough to read through. The questions in the classroom setting were very helpful and made me feel comfortable that I have the knowledge I need for having a CCW. The range work was awesome and I appreciated them keeping the range safe! Safety is always first in my book and having such a large class I was worried at first about how others would do. John and Darren couldn't stress to everyone enough that safety was their main goal. The tips and tricks on drawing from a holster and accessing your firearm in stressful situations was great. I took away a lot from the whole experience. Thank you! read more

OK, let's face it. We have choices on who we have train us for our CCW and firearms training. But in the 20 plus years I have had a CCW, I must say the John and company (Darren to be exact), bring this to a much higher level. They focus on SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY!! And then on helping those that need that extra bit of training to get them comfortable and more confident. They are located about 10 minutes out of Roseville, and have hours to meet your needs. They also focus on how important it is to practice basic shooting fundamentals, and the current laws we need to know. This is my second session with them, and if they continue to ROCK the training that they provide, there is no reason to ever go anywhere else. Thanks for setting your business apart from the others!! read more

I took the 8 hour CCW class on 10/22/2017 with John. It was a great class, learning about the laws for CCW holders and safe gun handling. John is friendly and very knowledgeable. The gun range portion was great, and I felt very safe. John was patient and shared his knowledge with how to shoot the bullseye with every shot, or what you needed to correct just by looking at where your shots landed. You'll shoot from 10 yards and will need to place 70% of your shots either on or inside the 8 ring. * Side note: I am a nursing mom and I had reached out to John prior to class about breaks so I could pump and he was prompt in replying and stated yes I could take the time I needed to do so. I would definitely take another class from him. Thank you, John. read more
