I was quite nervous about whether or not to buy a computer from Digital Storm given all the horror story reviews. Their forum claims that their failure rate is actually low and rationally, I can assume that those who get horror stories are more likely to take the time to write reviews than those who get a working system, so I decided to give them a chance. Fortunately, the computer I ordered from them works so far. The first time I tried to buy a computer from them, I made a noob mistake about debit cards in the payment system. Fortunately, they allowed me to cancel the order without any fees or hassle. The second time around, I used Paypal because that option didn't have as many pitfalls other than waiting for the e-check to process. This seems to be the safest of all the given options, though I still wish they had a standalone e-check option for those who don't have Paypal accounts. I bought a Slade 2 with AMD TR 1900x, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, etc (see config id 1795446). Fortunately, all the necessary drivers were loaded, allowing the system to run stably (for now?) after I pulled out the foam inside the tower. I suppose this means their stress testing was legit. However, while they tested the internal components thoroughly, they didn't seem to test the peripherals/accessories that were packaged with the computer. The CM Storm Devastator II keyboard backlight failed on me, so I had to buy a different keyboard on Amazon. For some reason, one of the case's legs had a slight crack upon arrival. It hasn't collapsed on me yet, but I'm still worried. I'll probably have to find something of equal height to the leg to prop up the case, just to be safe. The configurator on their site is far easier to use than on other gaming computer sites and gives the user a lot of options for all kinds of components, including SSDs and hard drives. However, I wish they included an option to buy a Displayport or HDMI cable because some monitors only come with a DVI cable, which doesn't work with some GPUs and motherboards. I was lucky there was a spare HDMI cable in my house, or I would've had to wait a few more days before starting the computer up. read more

( I kind of knew this before buying but for anyone else interested in this pc) They give you only 2x4gig ram sticks taking up all two slots, so if you want to upgrade ( which you will)then these are useless Also the rgb fan controller doesn't even work ( cleaned it, changed battery's nothing...) After building ~30 PCs for myself and friends in my lifetime, I foolishly decided to try my first pre-built and went with Digital Storm because they had quiet/opaque cases on offer. After paying roughly $4,000 I was treated to the joy of waiting nearly double their maximum time estimate, NEVER getting any response via email (they demand you call in), and NEVER once getting a call-back from the manager when one was requested over the phone to other support staff three separate times. Weeks after confirming and paying for my order, they informed me that they had run out of the case I had chosen - I worked with them and gave them a DIRECT URL link and exact case model for the quiet/opaque case I wanted to replace it with. I could not have been more clear that I was very specifically looking for a quiet/no light build. The cherry on top is that when the PC finally did arrive over a month late, it was in a case with... tempered glass........ literally the entire point of this build was to be a quiet/opaque machine not making light or sound. I booted it up and the thing hadn't even fully run Windows Updates and the overclock parameters were pretty meh and just done via MSI Afterburner... EXTREMELY slow. EXTREMELY over-priced. I've been a Digital Storm customer since 2008, and I purchased 3 custom gaming PCs from them. I absolutely love the quality of their computers, and their customer service is top notch. They respond to e-mails quickly, and they also have an online forum where you can get all sorts of good advice. Best of all, they are local to the Bay Area. If you purchased a PC with them, then you can pick it up in person, and avoid some significant shipping charges. One of my best experiences with them was a couple of years ago: I already owned one of their high-end Aventum computers, and I wanted to upgrade the video cards and a few other components. I wasn't comfortable doing the upgrades myself, so I asked Digital Storm if they would upgrade it for me. They said yes since the computer was still covered by their generous warranty. I brought the computer in, they upgraded everything that I had requested, and they didn't charge me a dime! They also upgraded my RGB lighting system, and replaced some of the liquid cooling system to make it more reliable. I didn't even ask them to do that. What a pleasant surprise! I don't know if that is still their policy, but it's so nice knowing that I can take my machine back for upgrades if needed. My most recent purchase was just 2 months ago. I purchased a new high-end Velox gaming machine from them. After having the machine for a couple of days, the power supply failed, and it damaged some of the other components. I contacted customer support, and they took great care of me. They were quick to respond, asked me to bring the machine back for repairs, they replaced all of the damaged components, and I had my machine back in less than two weeks. I really felt like I got the VIP treatment. Now I have this amazing machine back, and it's soooooo lovely! Thanks again Digital Storm. I ran out of time and patience with this company and had to cancel my order which was over 3k. Which mean I had to indulge a 15% restocking fee and a 4.9% fee on CC which is 20% of my total order. Seems extremely high and scam artist like for not ever even receiving my order if you asked me. I get they have to pay labor for dis assembling the computer but 15% on a 3k order is too much. Be reasonable. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THIS COMPANY...pretty obvious from other reviewers that they lack compassion and quality assurance for their customers. The best analogy I can think of is if you were given $3000 to watch someones dog for a weekend and the person's dog you are watching sent you an email asking how the dog was doing and you just never responded to them...thats what it was like dealing with this company! I am disgusted by the experience I have had with digital storm. I bought a computer from them because my partner had years ago and had a great experience. Well it's been a nightmare ever since. My computer is less then two months old and is running like garbage. All they will do is blame me and refusing to help try to fix it. The technician was rude and unhelpful and lies in his ticket updates. And the best is they want to charge me a 15 percent return fee. I am like almost positive this place is a scam. My brand new computer overheats, and randomly reboots into the Bios. We tried getting support for days. The support expert, "David Tech", has now three times failed to contact us at the times he specified would. We think we need to return the machine since it appears to have not been tested, resulting in serious failures. I think I would almost expect this from any other company, but not Digital Storm. Because of Covid, we waited almost 6 months for our machine. we can't blame hem for that, but after such a wait, we hoped the machine would work. First off the service is great when you want to buy a computer. The products are fantastic and worked great. Trouble is, don't get any hopes that you'll get your computer repaired in a decent amount of time, especially under warranty. I had a cooling issue with my PC, which I got a UPS label for and out it went. Prompt, fast, courteous. PC was received and just presumably sat there for almost 2 weeks until I submitted a question regarding the status of it. Magically, the process kicked in and got 3 auto-notifications within 4 hours that someone was working on it. No actual response from a person. 8 weeks later, with next to zero communication from Digital Storm (unless I called, left voicemails, emailed a tech or submitted a form myself) I finally get it back. Unit still doesn't work and overheats. I get the RMA and am told I'll get a UPS label the following Monday. It takes over a week -- to send me a label. When I was "why" the response is "there was an issue on our end." Unit still sent via ground even though 1) repair wasn't completed by them correctly, 2) "an issue on their end" caused another week delay. So we're at 9 weeks now. Unit received and they work on it and looks like everything's fine. I get an automated notification that my unit is going to be shipped with a new UPS tracking number. A week goes by, still not shipped for some reason. I send another form request for an update and apparently it had just been sitting waiting to go out but the customer service person wasn't able to figure out why it wasn't sent. I get told it will be expedited to 2 day shipping via USPS, then 3 hours later get another automated message saying it's another UPS tracking number, and it's ground shipping again because they "couldn't expedite it." So it went from "ground but we never shipped it" to "we're sorry about that let's ship it expedited," back to "nah nevermind, it's going ground even thought the delays and repair issues are 100% our fault." TLDR; it has taken (to date) 9/26 - 12/20 to correctly replace a coolant pump, perform 2 part swaps and replace the coolant. 3 months without my PC. read more

New update, we got the unit yesterday and the packaging was great and the unit was secure, the updates rolled in quickly and the unit was finished in less than a week. The longest part of was waiting for it to start happening overall I think 25 days is a little excessive of a time to wait for a PC build, but we are enjoying the unit after it being set up. I'd just improve the time a little bit, would be helpful. Going to improve to 4 stars as the buld quality and the wire management are excellent and the unit is super clean. Update after 5 business days we got an update on the status and everything seems to be moving at a steady pace now, below my original post. So far I am impressed from what I have seen so far. We ordered a computer yesterday and did not pay the fee for priority build, but I was expecting something reasonable, we were told it would ship out the 2nd of next month. 2 1/2 weeks just to do the build unless we pay $299 if you pay that you still have have to pay for shipping too. I understand that are running a business but people should be made more aware that you are going to use almost all of that 15-20 day disclaimer, my nephew went from being ecstatic to disappointed when I told him how long it would it would take , he even called and asked because he thought I was joking. Ordered an Avon gaming laptop in January 2022. Arrived, well packaged. Booted up - track pad was broken. 30 seconds into ownership my pain began. Reported the issue right away. Was told it was software drivers. Remote desktop "fix" done. Trackpad works okayish for a few weeks. Craps out again. Another "software" fix. 3 weeks. Boom. Broken again. Returned to Digital Storm after 2 additional months of reinstalls, remote desktop time, lost time by me. Trackpad is replaced. Machine is shipped back. Trackpad still not working properly. In July of 2020 I placed an order for a new PC for my home office. The computer arrived at the end of September. It worked for a week and then began to randomly shut down. I have been dealing with your customer support staff ever since. I hope this doesn't come as a shock to you but your company has horrible customer service policies and employees. Very polite but dumb as a box of hammers with the communication skills of one as well. I have spent days and days waiting for call backs, waiting on hold, waiting for parts. I'm done waiting. I'm taking this piece of junk to my local computer store and having them make something that works from any salvageable parts. Then I'm going to BUY A DELL. A family member purchased the vanquish 7 level 4 a couple of months before I ordered it and loved it. I used there chat system on the website and asked some questions regarding the rig. The individual answered my questions thoroughly and fast. I ordered my rig on 10/25/18 and they kept me updated on the status of the rig. I was notified when the rig passed each stage. My family member told me that it was going to take a couple weeks so I was patient and just waited anxiously for each stage update notification. My rig finally arrived on 11/17/18 and I gotta say that it was worth the wait. I literally just plugged in my rig to my monitor and was ready to go. My rig is for mainly PC gaming and school work (I am a grad student so I use Word a lot) and it has been working flawlessly. Each game that I have purchased has been played in the highest setting and plays smoothly. My rig is also very quiet and does not breathe heavily during serious gaming sessions. I research the company AFTER I purchased my rig and was a little worried that I was going to have a similar situation but thankfully my rig has been working awesomely and I haven't gotten any issues, yet. I ordered a new PC during COVID & 100% understand the delay in semiconductors, gfx cards etc... However - the company repeatedly avoided communicating anything - when I called and "finally" got to someone, told me "it's shipping next week" - and then it was 2 months later... that frustrated me. What was truly the bad part, and why I would not recommend DS, is that I received my $4000 PC damaged & with a DOA monitor. 1. They refuse to acknowledge the damage on the case 2. Will not send me a replacement monitor until they receive mine (I sent it, using their label, which is the cheapest and slowest FedEx method possible) so they can process a warranty claim. What a nightmare giving this company my money has turned out to be!! I am a professional gamer, i am rank #1 grandmaster of heroes of the storm by Blizzard. I am also a Miss USA titleholder. I first placed my order over one month ago for a custom $4,000.00usd tower. 1 week after purchasing I had not even received a confirmation email or order invoice. After much hassle i come to find out digital storm could not even process my expedited assembly payment. The entire order is cancelled. I am forced to wait for a refund from my bank, wait for a refund from the bread financing company and then resubmit my order with standard processing time. Flash forward 1month and 2weeks later I receive a status update; my pc is finally ready to ship! I eagerly call digital storm sales to confirm this update. They confirmed the UPS tracking number and that my pc is finally en route. I wait outside for the delivery because it is marked as signature only. Shortly i receive a text from ups my package was attempting to be delivered but no one was home. I immediately know something is wrong, i have been waiting outside for hours. 5 hours on the phone with UPS and they agree to hold my package for pickup at the "nearest" distribution center , visalia ca, an 8 hour drive from my home. I am told if I don't pick it up it could be sent back to digital storm and I will have to wait yet again for a delivery attempt. I immediately get an uber $50 to my dog babysitter house, my car is in the shop on this day so I drop my dog off, borrow my friend's van and drive north from west covina to visalia with my boyfriend. Gas costs about $200 for the roundtrip. Arriving in visalia to ups distribution center we realize absolutely no one is there. I was told by ups a night supervisor whose number i was given would be waiting for me. After sitting at the store at midnight unarmed in a very dangerous area someone finally pulls in. A worker named Tom. He tells us the pc is here but doesn't match my name on the label but the tracking number is the same. I sign for the pc and am told i cannot open it there on premises due to liability that the package doesn't have my name but my tracking number. No choice but to take the package with my ups tracking number on it (the tracking number is provided via email by digital storm) and pray the contents hold my computer. No luck. It's a computer that isn't mine. We drive back to UPS to drop it with them. At this point it is 1am and the last worker left. There is no one to take the package. Feeling completely awful that now I am the caretaker of a random persons hard earned pc we drive home exhausted beyond belief and get into multiple fights on the way home about what we should have done and could be done. We immediately call the true package owner to let her know the situation and that her pc is probably safer with actual caring people than on the doorstep of a locked ups office. So now my pc is god knows where. Digital storm hasn't replied at all. Looks like I will never receive the computer i worked so, so, very hard to buy. Trying to workout a plan to get the girls computer to her, while mine has literally just vanished, probably stolen by a greedy digital storm employee! Overall the absolute worst company I have ever encountered. And folks, i spend money so i have alot of comparison. My boyfriend ordered from ibuypower and it was the easiest pc purchase we ever had. My extremely expensive top of the line machine came to me *leaking fluid*, screws rattling, making a god awful racket. At one point it appeared as though my roughly $8000.00 machine was just stuck in a corner and forgotten about for a week or two while I waited. After they told me they would be shipping it within three days. Oh, and when I got it my mouse didn't work. I eventually had to fix that little situaiton myself. Along with all the rest. These people have displayed a level of incompetence unworthy of the industry. You might save a couple bucks but learn from my mistake. After waiting 2 months for a so called custom build, 3 weeks after delivery the motherboard and cpu fried and there was no power surge and nothing I did caused the problem but that's the way customer service/tech assistance treats you. After 2 weeks of back and forth hell, they finally came to the idiotic determination that I voided the warranty trying to locate the issue that THEY caused. I bit the bullet and bought another motherboard and fixed it myself rather than waiting an additional 2 months for them to do another crappy job. I ordered this PC from Digital Storm on April,12 2022. I am experiencing multiple issues with the new PC that have wasted 100s of hours of my time and energy. I wasn't expecting this many issues since this is a new build and Digital Storm supposedly "rigorously tests the products" before sending them to customer. The only reason I decided to pay a premium and have a trusted company build me a PC is to save my time and have an issue-free product. This has been the complete opposite. 1) Liquid cooling for the most integral part of the PC (the CPU) has faulty connections and periodically drips down coolant on the Graphics card and other components typically right at boot up of system. Turned off system and consulted with digital storm customer service team immediately and followed the instructed directions but the issue persisted 3 days later. Initial email to customer service on May 25, 2022: " I noticed that the Liquid coolant is leaking around the hose adapter and onto the GPU, Please advise on how to fix this as this is a brand new PC and I don't want any components to be damaged. Video and a pictures of where the liquid is dripping are attached. Best, Pola". Agent advised me to disconnect hoses and re-tighten all bearings. Issue was fixed temporarily. 2) PC stuck booting up automatically to ASUS BIOS screen. Issue first experienced on 05/30/2022. Spent 7 hours researching and troubleshooting the issue. Large amounts of the liquid coolant were found inside and on the Graphics Card as well as the motherboard. The bios boot up issue is a hardware issue and was caused by the leaking liquid coolant dripping on the components. 3) Faulty software/Hardware that causes system instability. Initial email to digital Storm on May 27,2022: "ORDER#186444 Can't install programs due to error that occurs when updating apps from Microsoft store, downloading apps from Microsoft store or downloading apps from the web. "Something unexpected happened" is the error message I received. I have been getting this error message ever since I initially booted up the computer. I searched the web for hours on how to fix it and no working solution was found. I factory reset the PC multiple times and logged in with a Microsoft account and also tried logging in with a local account. Still getting errors. There seems to be some corruption somewhere in the hardware or software. Also CPU fans are always running loud without any load on the computer whatsoever. All background applications are closed. Digital storm had there phone line closed for 3 days now and I can't reach a representative. Best, Pola". Customer Service Agent remote connected to the machine for a couple of hours and couldn't find a solution and advised that it might be a hardware issue and that I should recede the SSD. Agent also advised me to perform a hard wipe of the drive through the BIOS and an external USB drive which is a very time consuming process that I have been through multiple times within the span of 10 days. 4) Constant loud CPU fans. This build is advertised as the quietest system. The fans are constantly running at a medium-high RPM even under 0 load and no background applications running. Manually setting the fans to the lowest RPM is still loud. 5) PC was shipped late. It was supposed to ship 14-21 days after ordering. Digital Storm shipped it 32 days after the order date and it was delivered 39 days after the order date. 6) Accessories not delivered nor shipped. My ordered headsets were supposed to be delivered "they may arrive 1-3 days before or 1-3 days after the delivery of your system." according to Digital Storm. The Headsets haven't even been shipped and it has been 10 days since I received the System and 51 days since the order date. 7) Mediocre build at best for a premium price. Light strip ends midway through the PC case and controller is limited and very old. Cable management is very messy and not all premium white cables as promised. Case smudges frequently. 8) performance and benchmarking are lower than expected for a build like this. Experiencing delays and unresponsiveness with multiple tabs or applications open. I expected this PC to handle a heavy work load with no lag or latency but that is not the case. Benchmark tests provide a lower than average score and FPS. Internet speed is 500 mbps and is hard wired using ethernet Cat 8 cable. I have been in contact with Digital Storm customer service team many times to get advice on fixing these issues as they occurred. Help received was not great and the issues were left unfixed or temporarily fixed. There are 9 attachments below that contain Pictures and Videos of problems 1) I need replacement O-Rings, bearings, fasteners, connectors, washers and coolant for the Liquid cooling system so I can fix it. 2) Replacement components guarantee in case any of the parts were damaged from the leaking coolant. 3) Ship my headset ASAP Please get back to me as I am extremely disappointed read more

If you are researching a company for your new PC build. Let me give you a little insight to how Digital Storm handles your order... I ordered a custom Digital Storm PC on 3/7/2021. I've paid them $5k.... And I have not heard a single proactive communication from their entire staff. When I placed the order, it said "20-25 day delivery".... It has now been 63 days. I have no computer, I have no reliable updates, and Digital Storm has my money. So I ordered a custom computer at the start of December (December 4th). I really liked their website, options available. I paid in full ($2300) It is now February and I have not received my computer. They provide a helpful (in theory) update of the stages it's in. Stage 3 (out of 7 as of today). The only improvement from Stage 1 (money received) was after I called them and asked what they delay was - which they told me they were waiting for a power supply. There was no indication or alternatives were presented and then they claimed that had come in this week and they would begin assembling. Good I thought at least it's moving forward. That was three weeks ago and it is still at Stage 3. So I called them this weekend again. Told me it would likely be assembled this week. I asked why it wasn't assembled over the last three weeks when the parts were in, and they had no answer. I get it, pandemics, holidays etc. But they are well over their maximum timeline for all 9 stages and it's still at stage 3. If it doesn't move this week I am going to cancel. They may provide a good product (since I haven't received it I can't comment on it) but horrible customer service and EXTREME delays which they seem to have no excuse for and don't try to work them out. Would not recommend. Also it looks like others have had the same problem. Wish I had read the Yelp reviews prior to ordering. I will update this... If no movement by Friday I will call and cancel my order. Update: Since Yelp doesn't allow public responses to owners for some reason. Update 2: I contacted 'alex' from customer service. He assured me the computer would be assembled this week and likely shipped by next. Despite asking directly no explanation was given for the delay. I have not yet cancelled my order (against my better judgement) more out of curiosity to see if it be actually assembled. Ten weeks following the original order with still no concrete explanation for the delay, while I am out $2300. Update 3: Just cancelled my order. Still no progress. Called the company for the third time, the guy blamed the power supply, but said it should arrive next week and be assembled. That's the third time I've heard that, fool me once, shame on you, but fool me three times... Only good news is they will give the money back in full. Company can't seem to meet their requests on custom orders in a timely fashion and their customer service is awful. I wasted ten weeks with this useless company, I am writing this to make sure no one else does. Update 4: Called the company to cancel the order last Friday. Representative said that would be done. However, no change in my account status or money returned. At this point I have been on hold or talking with this company for several hours over multiple calls, never received a product and haven't received my money back. bought a computer that was recommended by the sales person based on my needs ( fit 4 fullsize videcards) the computer that arrived only receives 2 full size videocards, I call them and in order to get the right computer they ask not only the exceed which I agreed to pay but 15% total of 3,172.00 USD = 475.80 and $59.06 return shipping. I have been a Digital Storm owner for over 12 years. I am typing on the system now and in all of this time I only had to replace a fan! Digital Storm builds solid Gaming and specialized high power computers. Imagine making an investment 12 years ago in a piece of equipment and it still plays all the new games and still seems fast at least to me. I did get a premium system at the time with a sweet Over Clock that has been stable all these years. I have a new Digital Storm Beast on order that has just finished Intense Burn-In, Benchmark Testing and System Validation. At this stage they are checking for fingerprints and verifying everything is absolutely tight, secure, exactly what I specified before for its journey to my home. Digital Storm is the Real Deal! I retired as a Systems Administrator from Boeing and the quality of Digital Storm computer builds remind me of the truly expensive commercial systems I used at work. One of the highlights of Digital Storm is their technical & management staff. When I was trying to decide on my best new system configuration I got friendly support in the Digital Storm Forum by verified Owners. Then when I got serious their technical staff spent time with me to insure that I had the most efficient cost effective configuration for what I was willing to invest. Invest is the KEY word since these system last!!!!!!!! Oh, one of the nicest things was that after I ordered my system I decided that I should have upgraded to the next higher graphics card. I gave Digital Storm a call and they just charged the difference of the GPU card and I was surprised that they let me make this change at the time. Obviously, you can't wait till they have it already built & setting on the shipping dock and expect to make a change like this without some hassle or additional costs on both sides. I guess you can tell I am excited about my new system arriving soon! 12 years with the old system and only changing a fan was incredible quality! I have high expectations that the new system will be even more blazingly fast and help keep me entertained during these crazy Covid times. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your computer needs. I found digital storm through one of my favorite content creators and I have been looking for the past year to build a PC of my own after saving up the necessary money. After saving up months to finally buy my dream PC, I made my purchase through digital storm. The buying process was great, digital storm provides tons of options and allows for lots of customization, however it went far downhill from there. After shelling out thousands of dollars to pay for my PC, the communication and organization has been abysmal. Firstly, the original estimate on the delivery of the PC quoting directly from their website was "20-24 business days from the day of order". I ordered my PC on December 9th. It is January 14th. That is *checks calendar* 27 business days and my PC is still in STAGE 1, meaning that they haven't even STARTED building it yet. Over a month later..... Now I try to be a reasonable person. I have worked in customer facing industries for most of my life, and I understand what it's like to have a customer who is irate over something that it totally out of your control, so I called them to see what was going on. The first time I called, which was after about 14 business days or so of my PC still being in stage 1, I was told that my video card was holding up the process. I ordered 3060 Ti which was very recently released, so this is very understandable. Any 3000 series Nvidia card is hard to get your hands on right now, much less one released so recently. So I accepted their explanation, I was like okay cool. The customer service rep told me during the same call that it appeared my card should be in that same week and hopefully by the end of the week my PC would begin being built. Another two weeks pass...still nothing...so I call again. This time I get a different customer service rep who explains to me that Digital Storm is currently over a MONTH behind schedule on their orders. This call took place on January 10th/11th and he explained they are currently working on orders from the 1st week of December still. On top of this, he tells me that their manufacturer who produces the type of power converters that are going into my PC has been giving them faulty products so they are waiting on new ones. While these are semi-reasonable explanations as to what is taking them so long, it brings about so many questions... Why does Digital Storm continue to advertise on their website a shipping time of 20-24 business days if they know they are over a month behind on their orders and have no means to realistically fulfill this promise? Why is there such a lack of communication? With a setback that severe there is no reason I should have to call them myself to figure out what's going on? (Not to mention being told two completely different things the two times I have called). I think Digital Storm has to learn that they aren't distributing ten dollar amazon items to their customers. These are PC's that cost lots of money and people often have to save up many months before they can even afford it. With such a cost, there is a greater expectation for good service and fulfillment of the expectations that come with such a lofty price. I honestly have never gone online to write a bad review about a company before, so I apologize if this is a bit longwinded, but I hope it provides some insight to what you are getting yourself into ordering from this company. From what I have seen looking at other reviews, Digital Storm does seem to deliver a great product so I hope that whenever I finally get my PC (who knows when that will be, maybe a month, maybe three months, maybe next year, no one knows) that it turns out to be everything I had hoped for and gets rid of the bad taste in my mouth. In summary, I really do hope that Digital Storm improves their customer experience. In April, 2021, I decided to purchase This will be a very long review but I will include a TLDR. As a recent customer of a high-end PC from Digital Storm, I feel it is my duty to share my experience. My odyssey with Digital Storm began when I decided to purchase a Digital Storm Aventum X computer, the top-end design offered by Digital Storm. I have some knowledge of computers and needed a desktop for work. I thought that Digital Storm would be the perfect company to work with since they could build me the PC I desired, and I also purchased a life-time expert care 3 year limited warranty to ensure it would be maintained properly. Little did I know that I would need to basically become a PC expert to maintain this computer with the issues that came along with it. Two months later, my computer arrived and thus began my long journey with Digital Storm. Immediately after receiving my computer, I noticed that it simply would not turn on. I created a ticket and worked with customer support to discover that the Power Supply Unit ("PSU") that came with the computer was broken. The process to get to this point required me learning how to jump start a PSU. After another month, I received the new PSU and was able to turn on the computer. Unfortunately, once the computer turned on, I noticed that the monitors and USB drives were not working. I worked with the support team to attempt the fix of the computer which involved removing and reinstalling the RAM, removing the CPU and motherboard, and attempting to remove the watercooling tube. After seven days of working with them on this, I decided I would rather just send the entire computer back and receive a new one. After another three months, I receive the new computer. It has now been 7 months and I finally have a working Aventum X from Digital Storm. The next part of my issues with the computer begin 9 months later when the PC has began overheating. I called Digital Storm and worked with them but we were unable to determine the cause. The most likely result was due to a leak in the liquid cooling. I monitored the computer and did not have any further issues until the last and final issue which prompted me to write this review. Flash forward to December, 2022, when my computer blue screens and breaks completely during a routine windows update. I called the support and worked with them over three days to determine that the cause was the growth of algae in my water cooling reservoir. The algae growth was exceptionally bad and according to the support rep it was the second worst he had ever seen. The algae had spread throughout my entire computer through the water cooling system and caused it to overheat. I began working with their support team to fix the problem. Given my prior experience and the fact it takes so long to get a new computer, I really did not want to send it back. As mentioned, this computer was also used for work and this matter was incredibly urgent. I expressed this to the support team and they provided me with a list of steps to fix the problem. I was also told that this was an issue caused by the liquidant coolant not having enough chemicals to stop the growth of algae and Digital Storm had stopped working with the company that had provided my coolant after my receipt as they had encountered other cases of algae. So, now through no fault of my own, I have not had two major issues with my computer and only been able to use it for a period of about one-year with it being broken and/or shipped/built the remainder of the time. In order to fix my issue, I had to purchase a Mayhemz Blitz Kit, Copper Sulfate, Cryofuel, and new tubing for the computer. I reached out to management to ask for reimbursement for these as they had told me and it was known that the issue with the algae was not my fault. As with most emails to management, this went unresponded to. Once the ordered items arrived, I began the process to fix my computer which included (Copied directly from my email with support): - Drain loop in its entirety. - remove GPU waterblock from GPU PCB board, disassemble and thoroughly scrub with soap and water; reinstall - remove CPU waterblock from m/b, disassemble and thoroughly scrub with soap and water; reinstall - completely remove all flex tubing; cut new/replacement flex tubing to exact lengths and install - Run Blitz kit for 24 hours (read instructions included with Blitz kit), then drain - flush entire loop with DISTILLED water for 4 hours, then drain - refill loop with EK Cryofuel and x10 drops of liquid copper sulfate If like me, you are not an expert with building computers, or even if you are, you will realize that this is not even a remotely simple process. I asked my good friend to fly to my home (he lives 5+ hours away) to help me fix the computer and we began working on it over the course of two-full days. Mixed, lukewarm feelings overall. The tech support queue on Monday mornings is insanely long, given that they close over weekends. The person who wrote up my ticket for a future callback wasn't very tech-savvy... and let's face it, no one likes relying on another service that will get back to you between X-Y pm Pacific when you might not be hands-on right at that moment. Then having to pay an extra round of shipping out of my pocket to replace a bad part rubs me the wrong way, as it implies a lack of confidence in their assemblies and makes me wonder how much stress-testing is really applied-- especially when the replacement SSD didn't fix the separate graphics card crash issues as tech support had hoped; at this point I'm hoping a future driver update will save me. Also puzzled by 1) some of the hardware configurations, enough so that I suspect it's contributing to my persistent card crashes, and 2) why the on-board speaker was omitted from the motherboard. That said, interactions with Mike were largely positive thanks to his confidence in directing me through troubleshooting the blue-screen issues that started a month after my machine arrived. A lot of companies staff tech support only capable of reading through a pre-written script, but that's not the case with Digital Storm. Emailed follow-up requests were rerouted to maintain consistent staffing throughout my service ticket. DS clearly doesn't have an external list or documentation on hand for how to reinstall everything (I asked for a list and received an incomplete one that someone less familiar with hardware would have regretted stopping at), which is part of what I was paying for on a plug-and-play, and further infuriated me with the unplanned shipping fee. For how much money I'm budgeting to spend on a gaming machine, I doubt I'll be ordering from them again, and would be rather hesitant to recommend them to anyone outside of driving distance. I've had a very time consuming experience with this company after ordering the Bolt-X. My computer kept on crashing unexpectedly 2 weeks after I got it and I ended up having to replace my GPU which they sent, but charged me for the shipping costs. We thought this would solve my whea_uncorrectable_error that I kept on getting, but the issues continued from there. I've been extremely patient and understanding throughout this process as I understand that issues can come up with custom built computers. After replacing the GPU, my computer kept on crashing spontaneously throughout the week when I was in the middle of work calls and projects, not a good look for me since I work from home. I don't consume a ton of resources when working so this has been unpleasant and they are failing to find out what is causing the crashing. At this point I'm $2,500 down the hole with a computer that is not working as advertised and no signs of possible improvement. They told me that I will most likely have to send the computer back for them to fix which would take 4-6 weeks and I will have to cover the returns shipping..... What machine am I suppose to use in the meantime when I'm waiting 4-6 weeks for you to potentially fix this over-priced computer that doesn't work? I told the rep that I was talking to that at this point I will try to get a refund since the machine is not working properly. He said I am passed the 30 day refund policy and that if I want to move forward with a refund he will have to transfer me to management. So not only do I have a computer on my hands that is not working, I can't even get my money back at this point..... This has been a massive time suck for me and from my personal experience I will not be ordering from them in the future and advise you to look elsewhere for a custom built computer. They fail to take responsibility for the issues and continually try to get me to open up the computer to swap parts out. I'm not a computer technician, that is why I paid for you to make sure this is built correctly from the start. I was going to purchase a custom computer for my son from them, but after this experience I definitely won't. My overall experience with Digital Storm has been a complete disaster up to the point of me writing this review. I am not the type of person who usually writes reviews but with how this overall experience went I felt compelled to let as many people out there know what I have gone through. Back on September 18th 2020, I placed an order for a $4,700 build. I was super excited because as I put the build together the website made it seem as though they had the at the time new Geforce 3080's in stock. I place my order, complete my payment and make a phone call to check on the timeline of my build about a week later. I was told that my build would ship around October 14th. This date came and went with no progress on my order. I called to figure out what the issue was and was told that my computer would not ship out until around October 26th. Again the date came and went with zero updates on my system. Now I'm concerned and I call to inquire about my order after over a month has passed and no progress has been made. The first person I spoke to said he would find out more about my order and give me a call back later in the day when he knew more information. I never received a call back. I called again a couple of days later and again I am told that someone will call me back later with information on my system. I tell the person that I have already been told this and did not receive a call and he said he would forward my issue to a customer service manager. Later that night I get a call from someone and they talk to me in some length about my system and claimed the issue was a hold up due to not having any 3080's in stock. I told them that this should have been something that was made apparent at the time I purchased my system. There should have been a warning on the site saying that if I got that component that there would be a delay as they had with other components on the site. The person apologized and gave me a no later then ship date of November 13th and this was a "conservative" estimate and it would likely ship out sooner. I was also upgraded to "VIP" status and my shipping was upgraded. November 13th came and went, still no progress at all on my build. Keep in mind this was an absolute latest ship by date given to me by the manager I spoke to. I called again and again was told I would receive a call back by someone who would have information on my system. Again I was not called back. I called yet again and yet again I was told the same thing and yet again I was not called back. At this point I made an account on their website to post to their forums. I got a response from someone named Stellar and now I am told that the hold up is the waterblocks and not the 3080's. However that appeared to be in now and progress was coming along on my build finally. I was told the ship date would be either the 20th or the 23rd of November and that I would receive it 2 business days after that. So my latest possible date to receive my system according to Stellar would be the day before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving came, I had no PC, The friday after Thanksgiving I receive a call from Alex asking me to pay more money for another version of upgraded shipping due to the water in my system. They did not want it to move around and requested I upgrade to freight shipping. I agreed to upgrade to freight shipping but that I would not be paying for it due to the amount of garbage I have already been put through. Little did I know that this would cause yet another delay. My system was now not shipped out until the Monday after Thanksgiving and I did not actually receive my system until December 7th. Upon receiving the system I find out the water was not in the system at all. I had to fill it myself, which is fine however why tell me over the phone that I need to upgrade my shipping due to the water already being in the system and then as I get the system and unpackage it there is a piece of paper taped to the PC saying to not turn it on until the waterblocks have been filled with water. On top of this they used purple tubing when I had requested clear tubing. I also received a survey from Digital Storm which I filled out. I was told to add any other issues I had with my experience urgently because a manager was going to look at my issues and give me a call. It is December 11th and I have not received any call from Digital Storm about my survey that I had filled out on the 6th.(yes the survey was sent to me 1 day before I received my PC) So far after a week of having the PC it has run fine. However I paid extra for overclocking to the GPU and CPU which was not done. I have had to do that myself. The lack of response from this company to my issues and when I called in with issues the people I spoke to only cared about getting me off the phone with them and not actually handling my problems every single time except once when speaking to a manager. And still waiting on my games that I'm supposed to get for buying the 2080 TI. But all in all, I would recommend using digital storm. Just be prepared for some frustrations. I ordered my PC 3 months ago and did not receive it yet. As of today, I called and asked for a refund. Part of the problem was a shortage of parts. First was the CPU, then the cooling and power box. I understand shortage problems, but when I asked to replace the missing parts with comparable existing parts the rep said it would not speed up the process anyways and I would have to pay any difference... after waiting almost three months. Hi, sadly this is not a positive review I wish it was. I purchased my Digital Storm Aventum X a little over a year ago. I recently started having major issues from leaking pipes 3 to be exact and a cpu cooler cracking. Now I will say the customer support has been pretty great just not that right kind of support a customer should be getting after they have spent $8,000 dollars on a computer. Getting free parts and guidance is great and all but I purchased this computer because A: I don't have the knowledge to do this type of stuff and B: I don't have the time to figure how to fix a liquid cooled PC. I MEAN 8 grand and after a year pipes are not just dripping here and there they are leaking a lot. I have a group of gaming buddies and they are blown away how I have been treated after spending this amount of money. They spent maybe $1500 dollars on there computers and the joke is that they have better computers because they at least work. Really sad I have to go through this because 8 grand at least to me isn't cheap. My advice to anyone that is thinking about buying a PC from this company just go figure out how to do it yourself because there is a chance that you will have to rebuild it anyways. read more

Digital Storm - Me trying to fix my $8,000 computer after a year. - Computers Near Me - Fremont, California

I purchased a computer from Digital Storm in the summer of last year. The computer arrived quickly and performed great for a few months. After this it stopped working completely and my experiences with Digital Storm since then have been terrible. If you purchase a computer with them, make sure you know what you are getting into when a problem occurs. After speaking with their support team three times, they suggested I needed a new hard drive. I had to pay for the shipping for a replacement hard drive, install it myself, and have a $115 hold placed on my credit card. When this didn't fix the problem, I had to ship the entire computer back. I didn't keep the box, so they charged me $50 for a new box to ship it in. Add the $66 one way shipping and I was now out $130 (plus a $115 hold) just to get my computer fixed that was still under warranty. Once they received the computer, they didn't notice that I had included the extra hard drive and neglected to release the hold on my account for the replacement hard drive. Apparently they missed the sticky note placed directly on the computer that read "both hard drives are in here". I called them another 3 times in order to get that hold lifted. About 3 weeks later I finally got my computer back, with no explanation of what was wrong with it (my guess is the motherboard failed but I have no confirmation of this). Computer is working again, but not after about 7 - 8 calls to their support team, $130 out of pocket, and 2 months without a computer. I should add that the support team was friendly throughout the experience, but there is no excuse for such a terrible process for addressing something that was their fault. I ordered a build in February, updates of the build only came after I pursued support tickets each time. The initial turn around time was 30 days. After dropping the ball 3 times over the next 3 months the build arrives the last week of June. My need for this build has been superceded by my outsourcing the work needed to a local media company. I no longer need this machine. I never even opened the box. These guys are literally forcing me to pay a $689 restocking fee. BUYER BEWARE! Bought a Lynx pre built computer around september, after waiting a good month or month and a half for the computer to arrive i was eager to get on and start playing games. the first day i got onto my pc i experienced blue screens, random screen freezes and random black screens following resets. after that i opened a technician ticket of which to this day has been opened for months and yet to find a solution. i've been on call with 2 different technicians about 6-7 times already, the first technician was very kind, talked to me about life and such getting my mind off the stress of the build but i could tell the experience wasn't quite there. after a couple calls and quick assist appointments to try to resolve the issue i was having. we fully wiped my computer, reinstalled windows, i even sent back my ssd which is still in processing and bought a faster ssd the samsung 980 1T. when that new ssd came i was super excited as i was promise that this was the resolution to the issue i was having and then low and behold, blue screen. discouraged i called back up digital storm and asked to speak with a manager. i asked for a refund for my build as at this point i'd just like to build my own pc ( prolly even a better build for the price i paid for this prebuilt ) the manager of customer service replied that i'm passed my 60 days refund policy EVEN tho i've had issues with this pc ever since i got it. he offered me an AWR (advanced warranty replacement) which pretty much means IF they find an issue they will send the part to me, and will cover the delivery charges. the issue i had with this is it's been many months of technical support and phone calls and quick assist meets and still they have no idea what's wrong with my computer not even a glimpse of hope at this point. the manager assigned me to a new technician who at first seemed pretty nice and experienced. we reseated my ram and gpu, then he ran benchmarking tests on my pc regulating my ram and gpu. my score came back fine but the issue still hasn't been resolved still blue screening and random crashes. 5:00 Pacific time rolled around, digital storm was closing for the night and instead of the guy continuing to help me, he threw up his hands and wrote it off as a software issue saying "it must of been something i installed on my computer". but going back to the issue, it started blue screening THE DAY I GOT IT even before i started installing games and apps on my pc. i was frustrated and i think the technician understood that in the tone of my voice because he started talking to me like i was incapable and didn't know what i was doing. he started in detail describing to me basic things that i already know, being rude and giving me attitude. when the call hung up he emailed me a list of tests to run on all the components of my pc. i will be running these tests tomorrow morning and if they come back positive meaning all my components passed the tests, digital storm truly made me feel like i'm S.O.L. Wish me luck! I highly recommend building your own computer and not doing business with this company. everything about the process screams sketchy and bad business P.S Do not i repeat do not keep the technician on the phone passed the hours of close, you will regret it read more

So I got my pc about 2 month ago. Super pumped about it. I had to pay a payment pc before I even revived it. Pc would crash a bit since I got it, I thought it was normal since I'm new to pc gaming. Now two months in my pc is crashing hard. Laggy gameplay. Really unhappy with the pc. Got in contact with support. Got pc to not lag for a few days . Now it's lagging like crazy. These guys try but they are understaffed and therefore their service is bad. It took forever to get my computer, they kept delaying it and making excuses. The computer I got costed a ton and worked for about two weeks before the power supply crapped out, so I decided to return it because that's just a bad sign. The return process has been pretty horrendous, they take forever to get back to me. Now they are claiming I never filled out an RMA so I have to do that again and hope that they aren't trying to rip me off somehow. Stay away from these guys, this business sucks. read more
