This review is for the Austin service area. They arrived within 2 hours of my call. Used diehard gold battery, charged 240. Be informed that they do prompt for gratuity, but was grateful as my battery was dead as a doorknob

James diagnosing my problems

Quick, affordable service (with great advice on top of it), from a local small business with conscientious technicians. Here is some backstory: My wife's Honda Accord would not start this morning (about 8:50am), and it was giving some error message with the "accessories" icon lit and the car wouldn't turn off completely. I checked the Honda forums and various support sites, and disconnect the battery terminals and thought I'd try a new battery. I'm sure glad I did. I googled I'm not sure what, and DIFY Battery (these guys) came up. At 9:33 AM I called them and scheduled a tech to come out and test and/or replace the battery. At 10:32 AM, James was parked outside my house and ready to get to work. While changing my battery, James even gave me a recommendation for a third-party product that would help to recharge my battery if we rarely drive the car. Here it is, 10:55 AM, and I'm writing a Yelp review about how fantastic this business is and how my morning went from a clusterf*** to a happy resolution because of DIFY Battery. People. Save this business in your list of top Dallas services.

Danny not only listened to me talk about the issues I was dealing with (car wise). He spoke highly about another man named Melvin. Who just so happened to be a Mobile Mechanic. Danny gave me Melvin's number and he answered when I called or maybe I had to send him a text. Nevertheless Melvin let me know that he's a RELIABLE, Trustworthy, and decent person. He told me, He'd be able to come and see what was actually happening with my ride. Because he was gonna be in the area. Twenty minutes later Melvin was calling to let me know he was outside parked by my ride. That's what's lacking in today's society. There's so many weasels out here in the world. He explained to me what was actually going on with my car without charging me $179 like Christian Brothers had done a few days before still Smdh about keeping that appointment. It's definitely a learning experience for me as a woman. Never jump to go to the first mechanic without searching around for possibilities. Thanks to Melvin I didn't have to spend $4000.00. I'm thankful for his Service and Knowledge of mechanics. If you're ever in need of a reliable, honest, and professional person to work on your car without charging crazy Assessment fees, and off the wall Diagnostic fees. Then Melvin's the guy...tell em' I sent cha. Lol

Before purchasing, I asked the salesperson a very specific question: If this battery fails within the 2-year free replacement window and I receive a new battery, does the new battery come with a fresh 2-year warranty? I was told "Absolutely." To be certain, I asked to speak to the store manager, and received the same answer. In May 2025, just six months later, the battery completely failed. I went to the AutoZone on Ross Avenue to replace it (because that was the closest store to where it died). When I explained what I had been told about the warranty resetting, I was met with a completely different response. I was told flat-out that the warranty does not restart and was treated with condescension for even suggesting otherwise. No attempt was made to explain the discrepancy--just rude and dismissive behavior. At this point, I'm unsure which store gave me incorrect information--but one of them clearly did. I was very clear when I asked my question at the time of purchase, and I relied on the answer I was given when making the decision to buy. The battery failing after only six months is disappointing enough on its own. But being told different things by two separate AutoZone locations--and being treated poorly in the process--is unacceptable. I expect consistency from a national chain, especially when it comes to warranty terms that directly affect the customer's rights and expectations.

They took my money right away with a promise of delivery in 5-7 business days. 5 business days later they sent me an email cancelling the order. A phone call confirmed they were having a QC problem. OK, no big deal, right? The problem is they promised me a refund to my credit card in 3-5 business days. On the 6th business day I checked and the refund was not posted. I called and they said thewy were having a bank problem and it would be another week (yesterday). I checked this morning and guess what, no refund! I called and they said they were still having a bank problem and it would be another week. They kept my money tied up for far longer than they promised, leaving me to find other solutions to the problem I needed to solve. Be very careful with this company. They are quick to take your money then not follow through on their promises.

No one at the store speaks fluent English either so listening to their lies and half-truths also requires you to translate on the fly and ask them to repeat themselves constantly because their foreign accents are so thick that communication, let alone honest communication, is almost impossible. They also love to blame the "new guy" that didn't know how to do his job yet. Their parts counter guy told me that the reason the tranny they shipped was defective was because the "new guy mechanic" didn't know that he was supposed to inspect and run diagnostic checks on the tranny before shipping it and just "grabbed the first part" that he came to. What a way to run a parts "business". If you read any of these reviews and still give your money to 50 Stars Auto Parts, you would be just as well off if you took the money out of your wallet and set it on fire. It will give you the same results. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Negative 5 stars!
