Crab stuffed chili Relleno
William D.

Eclectic ,funky, artsy interior with original art pieces and unique furnishings. We sat outside with friends who have been coming here for twenty years and let them do the ordering. The heat lamps were on in the enclosed area out front and they have cushions for the wrought iron chains and a shelf of blankets for customers to use. Complimentary Chilean bread rolls brought to the table right away with garlic herb butter, salsa verde sauce (chimicuri like) so good, made the old fashioned way with pork fat. Calamari Frito, Cajun seasoning, light and crunchy with a house made tarter sauce (excellent server brought us an additional tarter) Crab stuffed chili Relleno was a creative version of this meal I've eaten dozens of times, feta and a sweet sauce with the rock crab was delicious. Panqueque especial ,chorizo had a little kick but was cooled off by the pineapple and sweetness of the crepe. All baked together with rice, cheese, guac, veggie's on the side, this was a big meal that was packed with a savory mix of flavors,my favorite thing I sampled. Honey shirachi shrimp, jalapeno, bacon, pineapple,on slaw. Big shrimp, big taste in the sauce, excellent appetizer or can be ordered as a full meal. Fort Rock beer on tap ,live music, fun place and I will be back.

We love the food, service and atmosphere here. Today we spent a beautiful spring afternoon on the patio. This is more of a slow eating establishment and a great place to slow down for the day. The food was fresh, hot and full of flavor. Parking is a bit tricky, but this place is worth the slight challenge.

Wow! We ended up here by accident and Diego's didn't disappoint. Can't wait to return! Funky, unique atmosphere. Fantastic service. DELICIOUS flavors. The bread came first. Thank you! Yummy snack to take the edge off our hunger. We ordered honey sraracha pork loin and the fish taco plate. Yum! They brewed a fresh pot of decaf for us so we could enjoy the caramel coffee experience Everything was fresh and amazing. Don't miss this dining opportunity.

Wow! What a neat little restaurant! Diego's serves South American cuisine in an interesting little building in grass valley. The patio dining area is surrounded by flowers and offers plenty of shade. The interior is filled with interesting paintings and knick knacks. In the night I visited, there was live music as well. Our server was friendly and didn't bat an eye when I butchered the pronunciation of "panqueque". Speaking of panqueque, I tried the Especial which was amazing. It's built like a smothered burrito but with a savory crepe instead of a tortilla.

Such a cute little place--but if you blink you'll miss it, keep your eyes peeled! Awesome patio, friendly and professional service with a huge menu of South American influenced cuisine. Reservations recommended. Parking can be a bit tricky so allow yourself some lead time.

I think this is good thank you

I have give this place several chance since 2018 I will not recommend IT It is not as authentic as they wish it to Be Taste varies too much depending who is in the kitchen Services was not good for us-and we had guest and waited long periods for each dish to come out so much WE never ate together!! Due to this

So happy to have found this place ---was a definite foodie experience . The atmosphere was the epitome of Grass Valley---eclectic, unique and a little boho . The menu has something for everyone, but I have to say that I don't think you can go wrong with anything . The flavors just are bursting with spice and freshness , and I couldn't get enough of the black beans and rice. Be sure to save room for dessert ----amazing and all house made.

Loved this at the entrance

It was suggested to try this restaurant for my birthday. We arrived to a beautifully decorated restaurant with lovely lights outside. Initially, we were slightly perplexed about the entrance, but discovered that access was through the patio leading to the main entrance. When we walked in, we saw a lurch type statue and a festive Halloween decorations. I absolutely loved that aspect of the decor. The food options were quite unique and interesting, which we enjoy. My husband decided to order the flat iron steak with vegetables and sweet potato fries. I chose to have steak nachos with guacamole and salsa served separately. We arrived at the establishment within an hour of its closing time, and although we tried to order quickly so as not to inconvenience the staff, I must admit that the lively ambiance did not seem to be fully reflected in their demeanor. We would like to visit again in the future and perhaps dine in the patio area next time.

Love this place! The food is fresh, much of it local, and the service is great. They have a few vegetarian items on the menu as well.

Stopped by South Pine Cafe around 11am on a Thursday and it was relatively busy…read more There is street parking and there is a parking lot across the street as well. I would assume on busier days like the weekend, parking would be pretty difficult. We were sat right away. It smelled so good in there from the fresh squeezed orange juice. There are plenty of tables and bar seating. My mom ordered the portabella scramble and I ordered a half order of the portabella Benedict. We both really liked what we ordered. The potatoes were lacking a little bit of flavor, but salt helped. Portions were good-sized for the price. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We will be back if we are in the area.

Well, this place delivered nothing short of an excellent experience! They were pretty busy, so we sat the bar. The service was great, fast and nothing short of amazing! Got to sample their beverage menu and have one of my favorite eggs Benedict dishes... hot off the grill, mouthwatering and delicious. The setting and atmosphere was pretty chill and relaxed, with some friendly neighbors around. I will be back to this place again and look forward to expanding my knowledge of their menu, as there was multiple things I wanted to try. Go check it out today, if you haven't been. This place is happening for sure!!!
