Stick the place we go to for outdoor and shoe needs! As we continue our journey to this location,…read morewe will add our reviews. This is the only REI in the Tri-Cities of WA state.

I came here for one thing: a sun hat that I could wear on my next cruise since the last time I saw…read moremy dermatologist, he said I had to stay out of the sun. Yea, right, on a cruise? I need vitamin D3, says me. Back to The Hat. I had a couple of requirements for The Hat. It had to be a lighter color like tan, be packable, have a drawstring so that it didn't end up in the ocean, guarantee 50 SPF protection (in case my dermatologist is reading this), and be somewhat stylish (like that is possible), plus I didn't want to mortgage the house or sell a kidney. First stop on my shopping trip for The Hat: REI. Before I could even find the hat section though, I was sidetracked by the winter sale--mittens, scarves, hats, coats. I like to do my Christmas shopping early. Name brand stuff like North Face at low prices. Handed off those items to the hubby who was busy eyeing the snowshoes (maybe he is taking up a new hobby) and continued my quest for The Hat. I knew this place would have some great choices (I checked their online selection), brands like Columbia, Outdoor Research, and REI, of course. I found one full aisle (both sides) and a sale rack on the adjacent aisle full of potentials. I eventually chose one after some consultation with the hubby. It came from the sale rack, too! While purchasing the winter gear and The Hat, the clerk asked if we had a membership or if any member of the family had one. Sure, let's try a family member's name. Bingo. The clerk explained that attaching my purchase to a membership allows me to bring the items back within one year of purchase if not completely satisfied. There are other benefits (check the REI site for information).

Great service and attention to detail. Hadn't been skiing for a while and decided to start again…read moreafter going once last year and I rented the equipment. I knew I wanted my own equipment to ski comfortably and apparently it's changed a bit since I went in the 90's lol. Greg showed me several different boots, measured my foot, gave me pointers on picking ski's and the difference of each style, level of ability, width...which was really helpful. He spent at least 20 minutes after I picked the boots I wanted fitting them to my foot so they fit like a glove. Haven't decided whether I'll rent or buy ski's yet but I know I won't regret getting these boots and will be back when I figure out how often I'll be skiing. This store has been around for ages and I highly recommend getting your athletic gear from them. You won't find the great customer service that they provide at the online stores.

It's always a plus shopping somewhere where people know their stuff and love what they do. My family has been going to Sporthaus for over 35 years and there is a reason for that. They have quality product, good service, and everything you need. If you have kids- check out the buy back program.. They are incredibly patient with even the most impatient customers (I've seen it). I saw a comment about someone being frustrated about the wait to get their board waxed... how about being stoked that it's SUCH a good snow year that the there is a wait? Also... they have a great selection of waxes, irons, and all that gear. Have a beer and wax your board if there's a wait. It will make you appreciate their work even more...... hashtagsupportlocal

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! This is NOT a friendly place…read moreanymore! Especially if you don't LOOK just right to whomever might be SERVING the customer when you arrive! The website says they welcome anyone, but they don't, they really want to focus on law enforcement, which is perfectly fine, a business may do whatever they choose to do, but in a community such as ours which is FULL of Veterans of all types, and they all may look different depending on their experiences, types of service and what they've possibly suffered in their lives, maybe, just maybe they shouldn't be judged so quickly, maybe they deserve grace and DIGNITY. Doesn't their money, and their families money spend the same no matter what they may APPEAR to look like? I know our family will never spend another moment there AND will tell anyone we know how rude and judgemental this once friendly place where we watched a local blacksmith who appeared on FORGED AND FIRE show off his skills one weekend and hoped that the store would succeed and prosper....I love LEO, and Veterans, my husband was both, sacrificed many years for his family, Country and the State in which we came here from. He was treated with absolute disrespect, and so was my son yesterday, and all they were looking for was a holster, watched like they were there to steal something, made to feel like they didn't belong to their NEW branding... BUYERS BEWARE!!

Ok, it's my time to rant. Why do almost all gun shops give horrible customer service? My experience…read moretoday, has been repeated in multiple gun shops I have visited, I am ignored. Walked into THE BUNKER this morning, I was the only customer and I could tell that the clerk was on the phone with a vendor, and they were definitely discussing business. I expected her to at least recognize that I was a customer with a handful of money to give her, a nod of the head, a wave would have been nice. Or what if she told vendor, "Hey, I'll call you back in a few minutes, I have a customer here"? I walked around the shop four or five times, she knew I was there but I was ignored, so I left. This is a rule and not the exception when I enter a gun shop. Sometimes the clerk is talking to a friend or some old man, swapping hunting stories, there is no product on the table and as far as I can see, the customer is not purchasing anything, but I am ignored. I work retail, let me give you a few lessons on how to treat a customer. 1. Greet every customer within 30 seconds of coming in. When I am with a customer, wrapping up a deal at the counter and a new customer walks in, I say, "Welcome, glad your here, we are closing up this deal and I'll be with you in a few minutes" 2. Or how about this, you are showing a customer product when a new customer comes in, say to you existing customer, "Hey a new customer has just come in, let me greet him and show him where to go and I'll be back with you in a new minutes. 3. If some old guy comes in with no intention of buying, but just comes in to swap stories. say to him, "Hey, I would like to hear the end of your story, but first, let me help the customer who just came in." If I treated my customers like I am treated in most gun shops, I would be fired. Hey gun shop owners, I want to do business with you. I will ben pay a premium to help support your business. I do not want to shop at the big national retailers or on line. But if this crap continues, I will take my money elsewhere.
