It's been a little while since I walked into a sporting goods store. And for that purpose, I was appreciative that DICK's Sporting Goods still exists as a brick-and-mortar business for such. This place is huge and they have a massive inventory of all things sports related. It's nice that you can still walk into a place and touch and feel the merchandise you might be interested in. On this visit, it was to look for a youth softball mitt that I will be gifting to one of the grand-darlings. The last time I was in a DICK's, it was to buy a White Sox cap and it was a couple years back when they were doing a wee bit better than they are this year! The pricing here does generally seem a bit elevated but that comes with the brick-and mortar business and the privilege of inspecting what you're buying. Who remembers Sportsmart, or Sports Authority, or further back Herman's? They're all gone now, and I think DICK's is it these days for sporting goods. I'm glad they are still at it for us. read more

This store has been around ever since the Glen has opened. If you order anything online, they usually have it ready for me within the hour. Returns with the receipt or the app are very quick. There's usually always someone available on the floor that is willing to assist. Sometimes you can find a good deal in store and lately there have been better deals on shoes (Hokas, Nikes) then I've seen in other stores. I wanted to give a special shout out to the 'heavy lifting' crew that helped me with moving a ping pong table. They attempted to place it in my van every which way in the freezing cold, which was unfortunately too small. I came back the following day and a couple of the guys did remember me quickly brought out the table, and they were very friendly and extremely helpful. read more

The service is normal for any large retail store nothing good nothing bad. Dicks has a large selection for most things perfect for getting cleats the football section is small for how popular the sport is. They also only have kids sized shoulder pads and helmets. Prices are normal for any large store some things are a little overpriced like anything in the workout section. read more

12/26/20 - My wife is @ Von Maur so I wondered over a couple of doors to Dicks Sporting Goods located to the south of the Old US Naval Air Station Tower. Ton of bike stuff now that it's too cold to ride. I just popped in to browse but there are some things I need but not immediately. I was looking at bike helmets & a cushion for my seat. While I was looking 3 employees stood a few feet away talking to each other and completely ignoring me. Possibly they sensed I was in no hurry because of the time of year but it would have still been nice to have one of them offer assistance. Dicks has a great assortment of sporting goods. Everything from men, women & kids clothes to such a wide variety of sports equipment. Assortment of exercise equipment to weight training, boxing, & martial art supplies, but they are a bit pricy. Excellent Service!!! Andrew and Aldin were so helpful and friendly. I needed a certain color and size of these Nike joggers and Andrew offered to have them shipped to my home for free. He also looked up other locations I could find them at and he even put the order through for me so when I arrived at the other location, I just had to pick them up at the front. It was so easy. Brought a golf club purchased on line back for a return. It was hit twice. It was in pristine condition The guy at the front stated that the policy is that once it's unwrapped it can't be returned. He sent for the associate from the golf section, who reiterated that, and told me if I'd bought it in store, they would have wrapped tape around the face so it could be tested. I asked him how the tape would go on without the club being unwrapped. He didn't respond to that and told me that there's "fine print" online in the purchase section that states the policy. He offered to get the mgr after I showed him the returns screen from their website. He returned, without the mgr, and said they wouldn't take it back. I left the store, knowing I was being lied to , went home and contacted customer service, who not only quoted their policy of not rejecting returns just because items are unwrapped, as long as the item isn't damaged; but they actually sent me their corporate policy in an email, which is directly the opposite of what the ...people..at the Glenview store told me. Exactly the opposite. So the clerk at the front, the golf associate and the phantom mgr lied directly to a customer and completely violated their corporate policy. I was given a recourse to return the item to another store, or mail it back to them. I returned it to the Niles store , where the entire return process took about 3 minutes...no problem at all. Do NOT shop at the Dick's in the Glen in Glenview. The associate's are disingenuous at best, and one cannot trust ANYTHING they say regarding items for sale or corporate policy. I would give zero stars if possible. read more

I walked into the store looked around for a bit. Went to the shoe area. Another group of kids walked in. While me and my 2 friends were looking around we were rudely kicked out by what seems to be the manager. She yelled at us you can get out. After doing nothing. I told her Ma'am I am just trying to get shoes ignored me and kicked me out. Though I am a kid I was still treated with no respect while minding my own business. My daughter always goes there, and never complains but today made me upset. She said "I was near the yetis and I had my Starbucks on the cooler. Then a worker came up to me and asked me to take my Starbucks off of the cooler." And I'm fine with that. But it's the way she told me after she took the Starbucks off the worker acted like they were doing something near us to like bust us again. She said the worker kept looking at them and when they started to dance as a joke the worker IMMEDIATELY looked at them and said "no no we are not doing this today. We aren't standing in here and doing TikTok's and hanging out in here, just for fun." So she walked out of there embarrassed for no reason. This is so outrageous, for just having fun. read more

SAVED by that Columbia coat hanging there with my name on it! Oh yes we did score the last coat in blue (and lady who almost fought me for it, there was no freakin' way you were going to get it)! I might have gotten the stink eye for taking the last size in the winter coat for my son, but we prevailed after great challenge. Two boys, same age and same size, with the request for different styles and colors - I challenge anyone. We thought we were done when my hubby scored two coats at the Schaumburg location the other night, but my son just wasn't sure about the color. So, we headed here in desperate measures to find the same style, same size but in a different color. A couple of shopping tips - if you see something on the Dick's website, do not expect it to be in the store. I still love this place - a lot. In fact I love it so much I want to actually force myself to like sports. Everything they sell, from what I have experienced, is top quality. You might think it's expensive because of all the name brands, but they have great sales. Come prepared for independence and with all your research done. The staff is a little hands off, so you might find yourself alone with questions and wondering where the heck the boys coats are, but be patient, because the great product outweighs the service. Really big store and selection of gym shoes. The staff was friendly and they helped me pick out a knee sleeve for my run this Sunday. The place is clean and they have pretty much everything a sporting goods store should have. I love the outdoors so I always look at the kayaks and camping gear. Prices are reasonable and you can price match. Will come back to get more knees sleeves and soccer gear. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at the professionalism in the bike shop at the Glenview store. They were able to source and build a bike out of the box within a couple of hours and it was overall a very smooth experience. I almost always find things that I'm seeking to buy, and often find things to buy even when there's nothing in particular that I need. From soccer cleats, to outdoor, zero-gravity chairs, to boxing gloves, to golf shirts, to college-spirit wear, to CUBS and Packers gear, to winter parkas, Dick's has a nice version. Dick's carries a reasonably-prices, good-quality house brand, as well as the popular contemporary brands: Under Armour, Adidas, Speedo, Merrell, Nike, etc. Clean stores, plenty of merchandise, and mostly helpful workers. read more

Shopping at this place was very good and easy to buy anything that is always great for working out clothes to wear anyone could use. They have everything you can think of for any sport. Outdoorsmen and women. They carry a different brand of apparels, shoes, outdoor and indoor sporting, and mostly they have heavy equipment to choose. All kind for sporting is in here. It was very conveniently at the same time for a shopper who like's everything is on one store. Like me. The employee here is polite, helpful, they helped me to find my size on the shoes, very personable, knowledgeable if you have question they can manage to answer it, and very professional at all times. So the good news is, they have a lot of SOME types of products. We happen to be looking for Ice skates for two adults, one male, one female. It took us a while to get someone to help us. When we did, he gave us incorrect information (we found out later). I do understand it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so I would give them some slack... however, it was not busy. Everyone seems to need help... so while they have a lot of product out where it can be self-serve, it seems they either don't have the sizes out, or the products aren't easy to find... or something. In the end, we walked out with nothing. I guess I will try another place. I'll check out Sorts Authority and other places on Yelp! read more

There was very poor service. I was going in with my friend to buy a football and there were a few other kids i the store. I assume they were being irresponsible beacuse when I entered there was a lady who worked at the store yelling at them. she then proceeded to yell at me and my friend and tell us to "get the hell out with your friends! I already told you once and I'm not going to tell you again!" I then proceeded to tell her that I had just entered the store intending to buy a football because mine had popped. She then presumed to say "okay" and let me and my friend be. Later we walked out because we didn't have enough money to buy the football so we asked our friends outside for money. I then re-entered the store and headles towards the footballs. When I was about half way through the store the same lady then began to yell at me and tell me to leave. I asked her what I had done since she hadn't kicked me out before. She then said that she wasn't going to take that "b*llsh*t" and that I could go join my "hooligan" friends outside. I told her that I was going to leave and when I turned around another customer started yell at me and proceeded to swear at me, telling me to "get the f*ck out right now." I asked him what I had done to him and he proceeded to get right in my fave and to tell me that I had disrespected the employee and I needed to leave. I asked him to please treat me with some respect because I hadn't done anything wrong to him or the employee and that I was about to leave. He then told me that "you are a child and you don't deserve respect." He then told me that I was lucky that I was a child or else things would be happening very differently, say that he would meet me"outside in the parking lot." The empl seemed to think this was acceptable and didn't say anything about it. I then proceeded to leave the store. I chose to give this review one star due to the utter lack of respect from the employee, service that I received, and very irresponsible actions and disrespect that I received from another customer. read more

Bought a $400 Callaway driver here. And called head Golf Tech Jeff Rose and scheduled a fitting for Weds July 18 at 6pm. Guess what? Jeff wasnt there. Bush league and unprofressional. Rather than re-schedule, i simply returned the driver on the spot. When Manager asked me why i was returning and i explained, she didnt say a word or apologize or anything. I always seem to find what I'm looking for at this Dicks. After shopping at several sporting goods stores I found myself here the place I should of been first. The merchandise is of a higher quality and the store is huge. I was able to find a really a nice tennis racket grip and shock absorber. Unfortunately they do not string tennis rackets here. As far as accessories and equipment you could not ask for more. Staff is helpful especially is you just bought some really heavy stuff. They will drag it out there for you and get it in your car. I like that they have a wall for rock climbing very cool experience. Bottom Line: They have a huge selection of stuff. read more

Please, please, please - go somewhere else if you need a-n-y repair work done on your golf clubs. Entrusted the Golf staff with the simple job of replacing a grip on a premium putter - only to have the club returned to me bent at a gruesome angle and beyond repair. In calling the store manager to complain about the issue - I was told he'd seen the putter lying out on one of the desks, so surely it wasn't mishandled - which seems awfully careless to me. I like their assortment of sports gear and apparel as much as anyone - but the abysmal customer service/care will surely have me taking my business elsewhere. read more

Awesome deals, selection, and prices.. I was actually caught off guard by it. I got a sweet burton wind breaker zip up that would be like over $90 downtown on clearance for $54. Sadly I don't love this location. We live very close to this location and our kids bike ride here because it's in the Glen and it's very convenient. I'm a stickler for good customer service and here, they truly disappoint. I've been disappointed by them in the past but I've never left a review because I felt like maybe it's just a bad day but how many bad days can everybody have working at this store? For the most part they have what you're looking for but on occasion I'm forced to go to a different and further location. My son buys all of his gym shoes here And the last time he settled for a pair that was meh. OK so let's talk customer service. I had to practically beg someone to come and help us in the shoe department while I clearly saw three Associates huddled together chatting. When I asked if someone could help us, they all Looked at each other hoping one would speak up and go help. Finally after the awkward silence a gentleman came and helped us. We found a pair of shoes we liked all white but there was a smudge on them he made it seem like it was going to be an awesome deal that he take 10% off of the shoe which is kind of a joke because of the dark smudges on it it plus you could tell it was clearly worn before. probably be more than 10% off of an all white shoe but my son wanted them so bad that we just kind of stuck with it. Moving on, off we went to pay. Skye took care of us, but not without an attitude. God for bid I ask her a question on the price! It's not like she works there or anything! I realize two days later that she made a mistake on the receipt after I clearly asked her and questioned the same thing that I noticed was a mistake. Skye... You're a damn joke find another job! Maybe one that does not require interaction with customers. I called livid and Christina suggested I come into the store and she would take care of it. She apologized for the terrible customer service coming from skye, and took care of the issue. If everyone gave the same customer service as Christina, I wouldn't be writing such a shitty review. Will this be the last time I go in there? No. It's just too damn convenient. But if I have the choice and I'm in another area, I will definitely go to that one over this one. Check your receipts and also check the clearance area they tend to slap on any tag on one pair of socks and you end up paying what you're supposed to pay for a six pack on one pair just double check everything don't count on customer service. While the Northbrook branch quoted $11/pair and requested to leave them for several days, the gentleman in this store went above and beyond to get them done within a few hours, and only for $5! I love this store - I've shopped here countless times. If an item is out of stock, they bend over backwards to help you find it easily online. The reason for this review is to applaud Scott H in the bike department. He's helpful, kind and an expert at what he does. He has helped us order, assemble and tune up a few bikes for our growing kids and most recently he helped me select the first new bike I've had in more than 20 years. Thank you, Scott H! read more

Customer service is horrible. Regularly I get home to find security tags still on my clothes, employees seem to avoid you, employees tell you to wait somewhere while they go get something and they never come back, don't think I've ever had an employee throw me a smile or act remotely enthusiastically about helping me.
