I've spent a lot of money on my daughters there the last 3yrs. Softball, soccer, swimming and general apparel, and the last few times I've been in there the last couple of weeks, I am ASTOUNDED how bad the service has gotten. The kids that work there are rude and have no concept of how to communicate. I've never had trouble finding what I need here they always seem to be stocked up on everything and the staff are Topnotch. They're super helpful and knowledgeable. I especially want to thank the guys in the baseball section they really know their stuff when it comes to bats and gloves. They gave me some great advice!Plus, the store is always so clean and tidy. So, I totally know how this store was named. For their employees! They don't need the apostrophe in there though. Why would I say this? Well, I rarely go in there, but every time i have had to, the employees have been the least friendly, least helpful, most prone to ignoring customers staff I have ever seen. I have walked around trying to find someone to answer a question with no luck. One time I made it a point to try and make eye contact with any staff I came into contact with. They all tried to not even look up at me. I walked upstairs and there were 3 staffers talking to each other, not one said a word to me. They just continued to talk. They are lucky they have no competition in the area anymore. I'm not sure how the management condones this type of unfriendly, unhelpful staff, but unless I am desperate, I avoid going to this store. read more

My sister and I came here to grab some pickle-ball paddles that we saw online and had THE WORST interaction with the employees while shopping. Online it showed that the paddles that we wanted were in stock, however, the hook they were meant to be hanging on was empty. We pressed the call button hoping to have an employee check in the back to see if they were in fact available and we were promptly approached by Kurt. We told Kurt everything he needed to know and he said he didn't have a scanner on him at the moment so if we just waited a minute he could help us find what we were looking for. Kurt walked back over to the shoe section (we could see him as it was only about 25 feet from where we were waiting) and proceeded to help a new customer decide on what shoes he wanted. When the customer requested a size, Kurt promptly went to the back and came out with 4 different boxes of shoes, shook the gentleman's hand and then proceeded to get back to stocking what he was working on before we pressed the call button, all the while ensuring to avoid making eye contact with us as we waited in the aisle. In disbelief, my sister and I continued to wait until it was apparent that he had no intention of coming back to help us and I pressed the call button again, causing Kurt to slowly turn his head to make eye contact with us. He came back over shaking his head and said "Sorry guys, there's no one working in this department. Some things are out of my control". Kurt then asserted that he would go to the back and see if the paddles were there, re-emerging 1 minute later (not an exaggeration) to inform us that they weren't back there and that they "must be in a box on a truck somewhere" and were "not locatable". It became even more clear that he was avoiding helping us so I informed him that I would be finding another employee to help us and he offered to call the manager instead. When Cindy got to us she offered to check in the back (Kurt had failed to mention any information to her) and she came back out 2 minutes later holding the paddles. I told Cindy everything that had happened with Kurt to which she replied "I'm sorry you had that interaction, I can't control what my employees say". I have never, in my life, had so many people (who work in customer service) deflect the responsibility of their actions or words without any hesitation. This interaction reflected poorly on the company, the location and these individuals. Admittedly, I look very young despite being almost 30 and am very petite in general so I can't figure out if Kurt was refusing to help some "teenage looking" adults or if he was downright sexist. What I do know is that I never got a "bro handshake" and was CERTAINLY not shown the level of customer service that the man looking to buy shoes was. We will absolutely not be back. read more

I usually find places like this over priced and lacking in customer service. My experience today was anything but! What brought me in was a desperate need for a new pair of hiking boots. Geneva Commons has a Yelp coupon for $5 off for a $25 purchase so I thought I would take advantage of it. I asked if Dicks would honor it, and even though they had never seen that coupon before, they agreed to accept it without hesitation! Bonus points! I walked back to the shoe department and at first there wasn't any one around to help me. It was a Thursday afternoon, and they were busy with stock work. Nick eventually came over and asked if I needed any help. HE WAS FANTASTIC!! I'm pretty sure I tried on every hiking shoe in their store in more than one size each. He kept running back and forth between the stock room and the sales floor bringing me different things to try on. Never a complaint or any indication that he would rather be doing anything else than helping me find exactly what I was looking for. He didn't pressure, or rush, he was knowledgeable and pleasant through out the entire experience and I walked away with exactly what I wanted! Thanks Nick! read more

I bought a baseball glove their, and I was looking for the oil you put in a glove to brake it in. I couldn't find the staff, but luckily they have a button you push for them to COME TO YOU. Large variety of Nike athletic wear, North Face, and yoga wear for ladies. Really almost any sportswear related item you'll be able to find. Some items are rather expensive and I've seen cheaper elsewhere. I visited on a weekday afternoon and did purchase two items (did suffer sticker shock at the register). Although the register guy (forgot name) was nice, I was one of only a handful of customers in the store. Several times I was right next to an employee, or they walked past me and never acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. IMO, the management should have their employees interact more with customers. Even a simple "hello" goes a long way with me. At one point I felt in the way when two employees were folding tshirts or something by the North Face area. Anyway, if you're looking for sporting goods of any kind, this is your spot. I went in to Dick's to purchase the Amour compression shirt and shorts. However, their were only a few on display. She told me we could look on the computer. She was extremely patient and informative with my constant asking her to back and forth among screens so I could select the right color and style. I eventually settled on the red shirt and shorts. Then the computer wouldn't accept my credit cards. She suggested I purchase a gift card up front and use the gift card to purchase the athletic Apparel. Rachel is always very helpful and also. This is one of the larger Dick's Sporting Goods locations that I've been to. I've generally found the prices here to be good, and this one is conveniently located in the Geneva Commons with many other stores I'm a fan of so It works out nicely. This location carries snowboards, but not skis. They also carry bowling shoes and bowling balls which I haven't found at any other sporting goods stores. read more

Terrible, when I had to ask the two useless girls working for the fitting room, one was on her phone snap chatting and got very bothered when I asked if they had an item in stock her response was what's out is out and then I asked to try on some leggings she said sure and walked me to the door. I'll keep going to the Naperville one, their much nicer and actually work and they don't get upset when you want to try something on. read more

I am so disappointed in this store. It is one of only 2 sporting goods stores in a rather large suburban area. Don't try and purchase shoes at this location! I have been here several times to purchase running shoes, cleats, and basketball shoes for myself and my teenager. We have waited over 20 minutes just to find a live body to help us. These live bodies are uninformed and on several occasions have outright lied to try and get our business. They have not once had the shoes my son has wanted in the size he requires. Also, they don't stock adequately for the local teams. Before basketball season we were informed that they carry 4 pairs of the nike elite socks in green at a time. This is the local middle school (less than 3 miles from the store) color. They have been out of the socks for 3 weeks as of today! The local feeder youth basketball program requires black and white sleeveless shirts under uniforms the local high school black, white and blue sleeveless yet none of these are carries in any great quantity. Dicks could care less about the local community or the customer. How many times have I walked in the store to have 3 or 4 people great me and then can't find another human anywhere near the shoppers! I cringe every time I have to purchase a sporting good and don't have time to purchase on line. read more
