The Pokemon section was expansive but extremely overpriced. I understand that Dicks needs to profit, but seeing as they are a retail store, they should sell their things at retail prices. I'm not just annoyed - if they were selling things for an adult hobby at way over MSRP I would be annoyed. But they are charging children hundreds of dollars to pursue their hobby. I'm genuinely appalled that they think it's okay to overcharge little kids who were probably excited to come to Dicks after school and buy some Pokemon, only to realize that their parents see how unreasonable the prices are and decide a few Pokemon packs aren't worth multiple days of work. Dicks probably plans to restock soon, and possibly even up the prices because they sold out. They are actively contributing to the inflation of cards, when selling for MSRP would help bring the market down and still make them reasonable amounts of profit. I assume they will have some UPC/SPCs soon, as that's probably the biggest profit margin, and I encourage them to sell at msrp and bring the hobby back to an affordable price for children. Kids can't afford 280$ for cards. DICKS MANAGEMENT, assuming you see this, I'm not saying you should stop selling cards, or stock less just because of a lower profit. I'm saying you should keep selling them, but not as overpriced crap, as a fun and affordable hobby for kids to enjoy, at a price kids can afford. read more

Went in to buy shoes. This was literally the worst customer service I've experienced possibly ever. The staff just sat there staring- I had to ask for help finding a shoe. They pointed. It was like pulling teeth to get the guy to help. I was going to buy 3 pairs of shoes. Then my husband bought a pair of muck boots and they didn't bother to check the box (nor did we as we expected 2 shoes). We got home and only one shoe. The most awful experience. They didn't even understand sizing across genders and kids! The most frustrating. read more

In town for a soccer tournament out of Philly. Saturday's weather and schedule had us at Dick's. This store had sizes in everything men's. That seem like a statement of the obvious but back in my area it seems you go to Dick's to try on your size and order online because inventory is do picked over. read more

I bought a $300 gift card for my son. Wrapped it up. It was lost among other presents on Xmas day. Tried to cancel it and put money on a new card. Not possible. Have the receipt. No refund. I was looking for a chair in a specific color which stated "in stock" at many stores, yet when I arrived there would NOT be any in stock. A friend offered to pick one up for me in Charlottesville - I called the store and "Jayden" went to check if the chair was really in stock, pulled it and put it at customer service for my friend to pick up. He was very helpful over the phone, had a very upbeat personality, and great customer service skills. Way to go Jayden, it's hard to find great customer service these days and I appreciate you going above and beyond. read more

I've been a customer of Dick's for years... and I just keep wondering why. Two days ago I went to the location in Short Pump and waited around in the golf section for 40 minutes and was never helped. Today, I came to this location for the same $300 range finder I couldn't get on Sunday. The golf associate looked at me, kept discussing fits with another customer. No biggie. But I'm the only person standing there for five minutes and these guys are just shooting the sh about clubs and the associate still hasn't acknowledged my existence. I'm an avid golfer. I know what I want. I just need someone to literally speak to me for 30 seconds so that they can grab the range finder I want from the back. Too much to ask? Two stores in a row? read more

A phone rep mislead me on a return policy and then refused to honor it in person about 10 minutes later even with a receipt and their word on the phone. The manager ignored my request for them to honor what they said on the phone. I've never given a bad review before but this place is horribly managed. The staff could do better without this manager. Hopefully y'all can figure it out. Order online from a different store. This place stinks in the customer service department. While I was leaving I noticed another customer trying to tie his kayak onto his car. The Dick's employees fled with no knowledge about how to help him. Went in pretty much clueless about the exact knee wrap/ brace I needed. Have been in terrible pain and having issues with my knee. Went through UVA but they didn't have any appointments in physical therapy for over a month to show me what brace and what exercise moves I need to work on. I can't take dealing with this pain and being bed rest that long so decided to just go get my own. I was overwhelmed not knowing what to get but Ethen was very very helpful in making my choice. He too had dealt with some of the same issues and was able to give me his personal feedback on the different options. It helped so much and when I left the store I put it on as soon as I got to my Jeep and ran few more errands. Walking around Wegmans for groceries was immensely better then before I applied the sleeve on my knee. The help I received made a world of difference and the attitude of just wanting to help was great. The stores big and had lots sporting good items and the best staff. Even checking out I was asked if I was helped and got everything I need and they were very happy to hear Ethen helped like he did. Will be back for any sporting good needs! Another little bonus was they carried some of my favorite flavors of protein bars that I have a hard time finding and they had some in a bin on clearance:) at vitamin shop these bars have never been discounted this way so it felt like a win win read more

5th street station is a HUGE store. Pressed for time I stopped in quickly for a combination lock, asked the gentleman greeting where I'd find it. "Back by the bikes," he said. Nope, not there. I looked around for a sales person but all I saw were customers. Where are they hiding the staff? So, I walked the 1/2 mile back to the front to ask the guy to send somebody to help. I did this 2 times in fact. Already 15 minutes has gone by. Finally someone showed up , he couldn't find them either, he called for help and learned they had been moved to the front. So I go to the front. 1 person at the till. Everything known to man was there except a combination lock. I asked the cashier where it might be, as there was so much stuff it was possible I had missed them. His vacant look indicated to me he didn't know what a combination lock was. Finally from out of nowhere a person appeared producing 1 blue Master lock and handed it to me. I said , "that's it, no choices?" He said, NO, this is the only one and the only color." I have nothing against this store in particular but someone in my family ordered me a birthday present they gave me the shipping information but I was having trouble tracking it. So I contacted dicks costumer service but I got Breanna. She was a witch. She kept asking me why it was under a different name and was mocking me. This review is mostly about Alan, in Dick's fitness department. - I can't comment too much about the store since we've been there only twice so far. But we didnt have any issues at the store. Anyway- we went there to look at treadmills and Alan came over for any questions. He patiently answered the couple that I had, gave me his recommendations from his viewpoint, let me try out the one I picked and then left us alone to look over the machines without 'hovering' over us. We went back in two days to get the machine, and their Website had free delivery so he matched that for our in store purchase. He walked us to the register to do the price adjustments with the cashier and gave us the needed information for the delivery and set up options. [I chose the option to assemble it myself after they delivered it to my home]. My machine is running fine so far in the month we've had it home. So seek out Alan if you go to this store area. There's a Field and Stream right next door that connects [inside walkthrough] to this Dick's store if you're looking for sportsman's gear. It's right next to Wegman's in the same shopping mall area. It's a newly constructed mall and there are many new stores opening up frequently too. read more
