After 10 years...wow, an update. This UVA merchandise store is a staple on the corner. Signage is something impossible to miss. They are not the official school bookstore. The store is small with packed in super inventory. I was asked if I needed help. I was directed to the ball caps and found exactly what I was looking for. However ouch on $40+ for a cap. Checkout friendly and smooth. Glad I can upgrade them from a three to now a four. I could have purchased much more with lots of items I liked. read more

Lots of UVA branded items packed into a central, yet small, on-campus space. Tons of apparel, especially shirts! Inventory is pricey but they do have frequent "Sidewalk sale" items ranging from $5-$30. Parking can be tricky. read more

Mincer's - Sports Wear Near Me - Charlottesville, Virginia

Mincer's has some pretty nice UVa gear. It's a fun place to look around and stroll, but not my favorite UVa merch shop. I've got a few things there I didn't see anywhere else -- my favorite is a navy baseball hat with many V-Sabre logos stitched all over the cap. The prices here though are quite high. There tend to be a few good sales, especially in the right back corner where they have mark-down items, but overall it can be a lot to spend. You're also right near the UVa Bookstore, which has a wider selection and which raises money for student financial aid. read more

Does not reply to customer service emails and does not pick up the phone. Horrible customer service, will not use again... Edit: finally got in touch with Mincers via messenger. They were very honest about their issues and then posted on Facebook. Should have done it earlier, but, still deserves credit. read more

Terrible customer service. Ordered a sweatshirt that never arrived and was told I would not get a refund. I was accused of being a liar even though I have two degrees from UVA. Over priced and absurd tactics that should never be allowed at a place like UVA. It is rip off and I hope all Hoos look elsewhere. read more

Took longer to get my National championship than expected but good communication and arrived in great shape

Mincer's is UVA's unofficial clothing store. It's a family owned and operated shop and doesn't officially have any connection to UVA. I don't know if anyone has ever thought about the fact that they have no official affiliation to UVA because no one cares. But they sell only UVA gear. It's the place to go for any UVA shirts, sweat shirts, hats, accessories, car decals, key chains, baby cheerleading outfits and more. The University Book Store is too expensive and so I recommend getting everything you need here. They have the official stuff and then they also sell t-shirts that are printed for Mincer's, which are as good as official, and cost a few bucks less. Although they are a small shop (I wish they were a big bigger and could carry even more stuff than they already have), it's jam packed and thus you will find what you want. All I wanted was a simple "Virginia" t-shirt and I had to call for an opinion because I couldn't chose from the 7 I had to choose from. Ok, maybe I'm just incredibly indecisive. My point is that they have lots of choices. The staff are friendly, the other patrons are friendly. Stay away if you hate the colour orange. Their store hours are longer when there is a game or event on. read more

If you want UVa memorabilia, clothing, ball caps, etc. --- they probably have UVa toilet seats, too, although I didn't see them/look for them --- then Mincer's is the place for you. Conveniently located at the Corner for at least the last 50 years (it was Mincer's Pipe Shop back in the 1960's when I was at UVa --- ah, the memories of those sweet pipe tobacco aromas), the store is definitely on the normal walking tour of the Grounds for the average tourist or prospective UVa student and his/her parents out getting a feel for the school. A great selection of UVa stuff, a nice store layout, and friendly and accommodating folks --- this visit, the only thing I wanted that they didn't have was a 2012-2013 ACC basketball schedule. A very nice store, but I still kinda miss the old pipe tobacco aromas, the Gauloise cigarettes (required when you had a date for a Big Weekend from Quebec City), the always hot and thick black coffee, the place to quickly pick up some pencils and a couple of Blue Books before exams, and the big stack of the Sunday New York Times. Mincer's is certainly the most prominent Corner establishment in my UVA experience. I first discovered the place as a First Year Man in 1959. As others have mentioned, the aroma of good tobacco is missing today. In my time it was known as "Mincer's Pipe Shop". I smoked many tins of Mincer's #9 pipe tobacco. I later found a similar smoke when I worked in Manhattan - Wally Frank's Sweet Clover Club. Fortunately for me and those I meet, I do not smoke anymore, but I have fond memories of Mincer's at that time and the aromas. I live in California today but continue to visit Charlottesville. My wife and I willl be there later this month and we willl surely visit Mincer's for it is the best place to procure UVA goods. We both need another orange shirt. read more

I ordered a sweatshirt from Mincers to replace an over loved sweatshirt of my UVA grad as a Christmas present. Not only did I have to email them twice to find out if they shipped it but when I received it the quality vs the price was extremely disappointing. It was a Columbia brand in the past. Now it is a made in Pakistan knock off version at a ridiculous price of 50 bucks. The lettering is also cheap. Please don't order it. You will be sadly disappointed. Luckily, I ordered from the UVA bookstore when I didn't know if the Mincer sweatshirt would arrive before Christmas. The difference between the two sweatshirts is incredibly different. The one from the bookstore only cost 5 bucks more. I did send a message to Mincers to complain. Given the recent reviews I don't anticipate a response. Believe the bad reviews. I wish I would have read them or noticed the off brand before ordering. read more

Can't leave a message (voicemail is full) and they haven't returned my emails sent to designated customer service email address. Order hasn't even shipped. Wall-to-wall merchandise dedicated to one of the freakin best Universities in America. (Uh, yeah, I went there, duh). I placed an order immediately following the Championship game at 12:45 on April 9. I kept checking on order status and was informed that all orders would ship on Friday, April 12th and would be sent 2 day delivery. Well, it is now the next Friday, April 19th and no order. Checking the tracking through USPS says that a label was created but they have not received item. I have sent emails to customer service twice this week with no response. I have called the customer service phone number (as well as both local store numbers) many times and nobody answers the phone and it goes to a voicemail box that is full. So much for customer service...it is non-existent. read more

Most awesome UVA apparel store that I saw during my time in Charlottesville. I'm a Syracuse alum so this brought back memories of Manny's, except it is UVA's version. In a great area, with other cool shops and restaurants. If you can't find your UVA gear here, you won't find it anywhere. read more

When I was an Undergrad, Mincers was the ONLY place to get ALL your "UVa" stuff. Yes- they are expensive- but they only sold the BEST quality! I STILL have my old UVa Sweatshirt- 25 years later! read more
