So she really exposed us to a whole new world. And when we heard that Athleta was now a "thing" for her, we knew where we'd be heading for her birthday present. The Athleta store is located in the Avon Marketplace complex on Route 44. I didn't really know much about Athleta, so I checked out their website and saw their mission statement is "We inspire women and girls to build confidence, strength, and belonging through movement". They accomplish this by selling a woman-oriented product line that includes Pants, Leggings, Joggers & Sweatpants, Shorts & Skorts, sweatshirts, long and short sleeve tops, jackets, hoodies, undergarments, socks, hats, and swimwear. I read that their biggest competitor is Lululemon, and I was also quite surprised to learn that Athleta is owned by the Gap. The Avon store was very neat and smartly designed with colorful displays for jackets, tops, sweatpants and leggings out on display. We had a nice time chatting with their two sales reps about what a pre-teenage girl might like. They were very friendly and fun to talk to. We ended up with a gift certificate that should cover the cost of a top and sweatpants. I certainly walked out of the store knowing more about Athleta than I did before I walked in!

The following types of products can be found at Marshall's; footwear, clothing, bath, bedding, home decor, furniture, beauty products, jewelry, housewares, toys, giftware, and per supplies. I loved their candles and random skincare, and soaps. The clothes were pretty decent if you dig around the racks. The employees were friendly. However, when I went to the register to make my purchase today a grouchy old lady with a huge stick up her a** had the nerve to tell my twin 9 year old sons to not touch the candy bags on display if they weren't going to buy them. I followed up by saying that I've never heard that people can't look at candy bags or show their parents for possible purchase. She said that many customers won't buy an item if it has been touched. WOW! Is all I can say. The nerve. Everything is touched in their store! Candles are smelled, pillows are squeezed and the list goes on. This lady had some nerve and even the manager behind her told me it was fine if my kids picked up and looked at the candy bags. I mean what's the point of having tiny gum-ball machines right next to the register if NOT TO ENTICE children?!!!!! Anyhow, people are just rude and all I can say is that if you're damn near 80 years old and working at Marshall's just chill the F*ck out. You don't need to act like you own the store and try to make up these crazy rules to try and assert your non-existent power. Maybe CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT THE JOB FOR YOU. TLDR: They do not put the proper prices on their tags so when you arrive at the register they expect you to pay a higher amount than indicated on the tag because they have to "go by the price in the system." They hands down have one of the best ski/snowboard apparel selections in all of CT, but with shady pricing like this, I'll take my business elsewhere. In the end I found the same items I was looking for at a place in PA. This is my email complaint: "I just spent about an hour and a half in your Avon store. I had a wonderful experience with the gentleman helping me decide between two different sets of ski pants and jackets. After working it through with him to decide on the final choices I went to the register. I purchased pants and a jacket totaling $620 then I realized that the jacket came up priced at $60 more than it should have. The tag on the jacket says $300 and your system said $360. The person who was ringing me out would not honor the $300 price as shown on the tag. As a result, I returned the entire order. And I'm very disappointed in my experience. I've purchased from you before and I appreciate the large selection of options that you have and I'm really disappointed that because the price was not marked appropriately that I would be the one that would take the hit and not you.

Bob's Sport Chalet, STAY AWAY, don't do business with this creepy owner…read more I ordered two very expensive items and they never arrived. I contacted customer service and the same person, a man always answers the phone. I'm assuming it's the owner. He told me he would check on the order and get back to me. He never got back to me. Weeks went by and finally I contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute. I just happened to be at the post office picking up another package and when they went back to get it, when they came back out the postal worker said "oh do you know you have another package here for you?" The package from Bob's Sport Chalet had been sitting at the post office for weeks. The man in Customer Service never followed up on the package and it's whereabouts. I immediately contacted customer service at Bob's Sport Chalet and was treated extremely rude and yelled at by the same man that I spoke to in the beginning. (The Owner). Bob's Sports Chalet is owned and managed by Bill and Belinda Gonsalves of Bristol CT. The success of the business is by emphasizing the quality of service. I can't believe they have the nerve to put this in their ads in on their website. He very specifically said he would not give me a refund and they don't deal with people who file a dispute. He hung up the phone. I called back numerous times only to be hung up on again and be cursed out. He's a despicable man and a bully! I'm out almost $500, no fault of my own. The owner didn't care that the items were brand new packages and were sitting at the post office and it was not my fault that they were never delivered. I had every right to file a dispute. This is a horrible business and as you can see if you read the other yelp reviews, it's happened to many others. Please stay as far away from this company as possible, if you value your money and have any Integrity. This company doesn't care about their customers at all!
