This sporting goods retailer was founded in 1948 and is the largest in the U.S. There are about 724 locations. They're known for selling sports equipment, accessories, footwear, and apparel. I've bought family members golf gear, myself a punching bag and boxing gloves, clothes, and sneakers. This particular one is located in the Shops of Farmington in Canton, CT; there's plenty of parking. The store was huge and organized. Staff was extremely lazy , clueless when approached and completely useless. The management was the equivalent of speaking to someone on a hidden camera show , a true embarrassment to their brand. The totally empty store says it all perfectly , crying stay away with the strongest of echoes. Definitely avoid this hole like the plague. read more

Waited long enough to have someone open one of the fitting room doors. No acknowledgment from anyone. I'll buy my shorts somewhere else.

I am a college student. Three friends and I (all age 19-20, young but not children) came in on a Monday evening to look at and try out putters. We asked an employee for four balls and he gave us two since supposedly that's all they had. We were calmly and responsibly putting for probably 4 or 5 minutes when another employee or manager came over and told us that we needed to put the balls and putters away with a rather rude and demeaning attitude. I'm not sure what we were doing wrong, or if the putting green is only available to older, obviously wealthy customers. It doesn't take much money to buy a putter from the cheap selection offered, not a single putter is more than $399, making their selection mostly low-tier. Despite their low-quality putters, we were deemed unworthy by the judgemental employees. Several months prior, we were perusing the store and we noticed that we were being followed by a late-middle-aged employee with a shopping cart. He continued following us for at least 15 minutes, until we left. This store is badly run and seems to hire obnoxious, pompous, and judgemental employees. Anything other than coming in and immediately making a purchase seems to be intolerable to them. They have also disabled writing new reviews on Google, presumably since they were getting so many similarly negative ones, as they deserve. As a result, I have written this review here. read more

Do not come here if you want to get your fishing line reeled on. We figured we'd try to get our line on at dicks since it was close by. But the person doing so put the line on very loosely causing major issues while trying to fish. Once we took it off we realized it was not tied at the beginning either. read more

One of the worst places I've ever been in.asked where items were and was told by an employee and the store manager they don't do that. So, when you shop here I guess it's fend for yourself,unless it time to pay then they're helpful at taking your money. Place earned the title of their store. read more

Store is spacious, clean well organized and there is always someone willing to help. This is our go to place for active wear.

The staff were super friendly, Zach and Jordan especially. They recounted their soccer days and helped me pick out the most perfect cleats!! What a crap hole. The store is always half empty for gear in camping, fishing, hunting etc. And now all the firearms are gone. It looks like another Sports Authority. Amazing store!!! Came here to get sporting clothes with my mom!! I liked the sporting clothes! I got a adidas sweater!!! Which was really nice we got my bother a nice sweater as well!!! I looked at the hydroflasks! I saw some kids playing hide and seek I was laughing because they were playing music and they were in the escalator the whole time lol!!! My daughter and I went to Dick's with the intentions of purchasing cleats for field hockey. With much disappointment they don't even carry field hockey cleats. AWFUL. This is the Walmart of sporting goods. I took my son to get LaCrosse equipment. The staff is USELESS. If you can find anyone who actually works there. The place is the size of Costco and maybe they had 2 people on the floor. The shoe guy disappeared for 15 minutes looking for the right size cleat only to return with nothing. Told us he would "come find us if the size we needed "appeared". Really? What the heck does appear mean? Was he hoping it would pop out of midair? They had very little selection of other equipment and nobody who knew anything about Lacrosse to help w/sizing gloves, shoulder pads ect. After wasting almost an hour trying to figure things out, we yelped Lacrosse Unlimited and they had everything. The staff was knowledgeable and put everything together for us. Huge store, never a problem finding what I need.

This is your Average Dick's, though I feel like it was a little cramped. The men's section seemed tiny! Or maybe its because it had two escalators in the middle. Either way, I didn't find the clearance section to be very full, and I had a hard time finding what I wanted. I have been to better stocked Dick's in the area. I also found it out of the way, mostly because I'm from West Hartford. I think I'd rather drive out to the Berlin Turnpike rather than go out here. But at the same time, this plaza has better/more interesting shopping like Sur La Table and J.Crew. read more

Wow, store was pretty much empty. I walked around in the sneaker section for 10-15 minutes and no employee was around. I would've bought some sneakers and hiking shoes EVEN THOUGH they (Dicks) no longer support the 2A and the NRA, but no one was around to help consumers, so why the hell should I wait around ? DICK's is HUGE! Wow, you can get everything you need for your sports need. Service was good, though I felt like most workers there are just hanging out waiting to punch out. Huge parking lot and located near all great stores. read more

I need to comment on the AMAZING service I received today at the Dick's Sporting Goods in Canton, CT! I bought my son a bike from here a few months back and we had some loosening of the handle bars that needed fixing. I brought the bike in this afternoon and I was met with assistance with Tyler in the bike department. From the get go Tyler was ready to help and had a great attitude. His customer service was beyond exceptional! Tyler was knowledgeable and knew exactly what he was doing. He quickly tightened up the bike and then proceeded to check the whole bike over to be sure it was in working condition! I will be sure to return when bike tune ups are needed to the Canton store! Terrible customer service and over priced! I went into dicks and was looking for a baseball glove. A lady came up to me and asked if I needed help, I said yes. She then called for someone to come to sporting section and walked away. 20 minutes later... I'm still waiting for someone to show up. I then walked out of the store and will never go back. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We were picking up a bike from the service area (took them forever to find it). Brought it to the register where the cashier said she was closed. Really? Then turn the light off that says "Open". We moved to a longer line. Another customer went to that first cashier, the closed one, and got rang up. It might be petty, but it's also damn annoying. This is a big Dicks. It is always clean and prepared to help out when my wife is in need of something we don't have at home. I find it a little pricey but it's the only Dicks around for her to get what she needs without me doing all the work. This is a giant store. 2 levels full of stuff. Kayaks, tents, life preservers, etc. You name it they have it.

This place never keeps things in stock. Don't expect to get anything you need when the season is in full swing. A joke of a sports place!

Horrible Company. Save money and buy your sporting goods elsewhere. Overpriced and low quality.
