I received the run-around from both the store where I made the purchase, and NB corporate. Got a great pair of walking sneakers here. They do a full scan of your feet and ankles and recommend the best type of shoe for you. They feel so good on my feet and support my arches that are beginning to fall. I also love the blue color and the selection that had in my size. 1.) Just to warm you up: I am doing a 49-Day challenge a la Tyler English Fitness in Canton and was in need of proper foot gear. Tyler English himself recommended us to get New Balance sneakers that are close to bare foot for his type of workout. I am doing a metabolic group coaching session that incorporates strength training, so sprints, squats, burpees, sled workouts, jumps, etc. will apparently be suitable for the shoe I bought (uploaded a picture of my neon green and blue shoes for example). 2.) What your eyes may see: It's a new place. The sneaker section for men appears rather limited. There is a rack for cross training, a rack for long distance, and a rock for casual footwear. They had a nice computer monitor in front of the store, which apparently displayed a foot and areas of that foot where a particular shoe would be suitable for. More info is needed to gauge this type of equipment, but that was what I saw in passing. 3.) The foot wear: I bought a pair of cross training sneakers. They were almost like barefoot, and the soles were made by Vibram, the same people who made those Five Finger shoes (they look like gloves..........except for the foot!). I'm a little more flat footed so initially it felt like there wasn't much support, but given the type of exercise I'm doing, I was assured that there would be no issues. The class I am doing is 45 minutes, with 35 of it being the actual workout. The staff said that if I were to do long distance running then it would be problematic. 4.) Staff: The guy who worked with me was named Frank. He was a very knowledgeable and helpful guy. He fitted me, and got me my shoes pretty quickly. 5.) Impressions: This is my first time ever purchasing New Balance shoes. I will have to come back to buy a footwear wardrobe for this fitness class! Each time my family and i need new shoes we come here because they always make us feel special. I do expect a certain level of service out of any higher end retailer i go to but most places make it seem scripted, fake and distant. I purchased a new pair of shoes back in April, seven months ago . Customer service was fine. Shoes had to brought in from south Windsor store(size 14) and were shipped to me within one week. However, now i find both soles are becoming detached. Rendering the shoes unwearable . I spent $126 on the shoes and another $30 on inserts. I fully expected to get more wear for my money. I go walking every morning and lately I have been experiencing heel pain. I went into the store and explained my problem to the salesperson, who was able to make an informed reccomendation. Dropped in two days ago to try on and hopefully buy some hiking boots. They did not have my size (no problem) but said they could order them. I asked if I could try them when they come in and was told I had to buy them first. Really? The boot I want is all over the Internet for as low as 1/2 their price. But my size is hard to get. That and service are why they can charge full price. But to insist I have to buy a boot I don't know will fit is bad business. read more

Terrible customer service. Brought back a damaged shoe which the service rep confirmed. Shoe was worn minimally, 12 times perhap, and I'm told "the tread is compressed"(huh??). $180 shoes and torn collar and New Balance/Avon, CT says "too bad". I sent my dad in recently to get some new shoes after his doctor told him to get some new balance. He has nerve damage in his feet from diabetes and has been struggling for years. He recently stepped on a nail and had an infection that was driving him crazy. After stopping by I can honestly say I've never seen him so happy. His limp is completely gone, and they gave him diabetic specific shoes and inserts. Everyone there was super professional and knowledgeable. They gave recommendations on things he could do to help and i would absolutely recommend anyone with issues to go see these guys! read more

I came in and was very pleasently surprised at the service! They were very friendly and knew their stuff. I had an issue with a pair of shoes and without question or hesitation they fixed them. They then used a machine to scan my feet and determine what shoes would be best for me and they work great! I am very impressed and will definitely be coming back here in the future. read more

Worst Cust experience. The sales person kept talking over me and would not let me tell him what my issue was. The first time I had come to this store I had a great sales person who listened and told me to bring my shoes in and they would help with my running shoes that the sole was coming apart. They will listen to your needs and steer you not necessarily to the most expensive shoes, but to the ones that fit your body and your running needs best. Can't say enough good stuff about this store. The people here do not know running at all. I went here hoping to find shoes to ease my pain of shin splints while running. They gave me a shoe and arch inserts. After paying a boatload of money to go to physical therapy, I found out that it was the shoes New Balance gave me that caused all the problems!! I bought a pair of sneakers at New Balance which caused rubbing. I had only wore the sneakers for a day and went back to see what they could do. Delaney helped me and was terrific. He remeasured my feet and concluded that another model of sneaker would eliminate the issue. I tried on the new model and they felt much better. The sneakers were swapped out. After wearing the new sneakers for 2 weeks, I can confirm that the rubbing problem has been eliminated. Delaney was very professional, has a great personality and was happy to help me. Just got back into running after years of recovery from a knee surgery and some less than ideal experiences with plantar fasciitis, and these guys know exactly what they're doing! I was working on doing a couch to 5k and heard about the shop from my doctor. I came in and was helped by Dino, he was incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable. He measured and scanned my feet on a computer, and looked at my alignment as well to make sure we were going we were protecting my knees to the maximum! I tried a few pairs, he suggested, to compare and also bought some inserts that honestly make a world of difference. He did tell me they would take some getting used to because my body hasn't been in a good position in a while but after the first week I can say for the first time in years that I'm running with no pain! I would absolutely recommend checking this place out if you have any sort of pains, or if you're just looking for the best fit for what your body needs! read more
