Return regards to returning a bike, I picked up an alternate location, show the barcode, and this jerk wanna be manager, who is in his 40s and a manager at a sporting good store.... Named Brian was a hands-off jerk. Ask kindly for store credit for a bike that is not 24 inches show the in-store barcode label and he still stated that there was nothing that he could do, remind me to never go back to Dick's, no wonder why they have two stars at this piece of crap location. read more

It seems like they're constantly out of stock on a lot of thing's even popular brands you expect to find. The shoe selection was pretty weak and the baseball gear section was a real letdown especially since it's baseball season I was hoping to find some Bruce Bolt gloves, but no luck.Honestly, I'd recommend checking out the Schaumburg or Lombard locations instead. They usually have a much better selection and seem to be better stocked.I rarely encountered any staff who greeted me. It might be worth looking into improving customer service. read more

I was there today to purchase shoes like I always do at Dick's because of the great service we always receive from the young lady in shoes. Today another rep stepped in to help me. He brought me the wrong shoes and then walked away to talk with his gym buddy. I patiently waited because as a disabled vet I need the proper support to help me walk. After being ignored I went to talk to a manager. I explained the situation and was given no resolution or assistance in helping me make my purchase. We needed a tube replaced in a bike tire. Brought it here and the guy acted like he knew what he was doing. He tried putting a racing tire in a standard comfort bike and then realized it was too small. At this point, he told us they didn't have any tubes in stock that would fit this bike. After a month long hassle, with a replacement treadmill also being broken, I am updating. The managers at Dick's were helpful and responsive throughout the ordeal, and it was not an issue to receive my refund. I don't recommend purchasing a treadmill anywhere at this point in time. I wonder if Sole and NordicTrack are using refurbished parts in their manufacturing due to the post COVID supply chain issues. Also, the third party vendor Dick's uses for delivery, assembly and repair is a nightmare and a half to deal with. So in summary, don't buy a treadmill. read more

This review would easily be 1 star if it wasn't for Sammi (sp?) in the bike dept. This girl deserves 5 stars alone for excellent customer service and the following reasons: 1. Her enthusiastic and friendly demeanor 2. Her extensive knowledge about bikes and the fact she shared this with me willingly & effortlessly. 3. As soon as I approached her, she stopped what she was doing and listened to my concerns, answered all of my questions and immediately made me a priority. I can't tell you how relieved I was to run into Sammi after my experience here the day before. I was sure the outcome of my return visit would be the same. Over the course of the summer, I've stopped at this store numerous times to look into replacing my bike and try some out but the problem was they didn't have many put together. So, I came back again and again in the hopes they would have a better selection of the type I was looking for. Yes, I went to other locations also and ran into the same issue. On virtually every visit, there was no one around. I had to go to another dept., find someone and was told either no one was available or left for the day and the associate who was available had no knowledge of bikes. Way to waste my time.. I came back on Labor day and again there was no one around. Found a young guy who very dismissively tells me "I know nothing about bikes and the guy that was here left for the day and we're understaffed, so you might want to go to Woodfield or Oakbrook." Really?? This kid could care less about helping customers and his attitude royally sucked. I ended up spotting 2 bikes, took them down and got a feel for it. The one bike I tried had handlebars that were completely off center. At this point, I decided to order the bike online. It was the right bike at the right price. Came back to pick up my bike a few days later and Sammi was in the bike dept. Boy was I happy to see her! She assured me she inspects all bikes that go out and noticed the handlebar issue on the one I was interested in. It was fixed. This girl is a keeper. I hope your reading this Dick's because unlike the associates I have run into at your store, this was the ONLY girl who truly helped me with my purchase. She takes pride in her job and it shows. Your team could learn a few things from her. I can honestly say I despise each Dick's location I've been to and have had nothing but horrible (or no) customer service. I feel like there's a monopoly on big chain sporting goods stores. There just aren't many around anymore. Sure I could go to Trek, but I'm not worthy of $1k+ bike just yet...Local bike shops are great, but also more than I wanted to spend. I came here directly after I had left the nearby Sports Authority to compare their selection of Bulls merchandise. Holy OMG, Dicks blew SA out of the water! They have a huge selection (although, the SA is apparently closing so maybe this is not an apples to apples situation). The selection was larger, but the polo I bought from SA was $15 more at Dicks. They had a lot more/different options so I ended up getting a top for myself and one for him. They also had Nike Tempos on sale for $24 which is a pretty decent price. read more

I've been to this location before and it always served as a 3-star location. Apathetic customer service and limited stock. Purchased a brand new Tennis racquet and strings at this location and wanted it strung as well. At the counter, the cashier rings me up, but can't find the folder that has the forms that need to be filled out for stringing. They spend half an hour looking for it while everyone behind me is waiting. Four other associates are standing around watching, including the manager, and nobody bothers opening one of the six empty registers. Finally, the cashier takes my name, number, and the tension of the racquet down and tells me that stringing shouldn't take more than two days and someone will call me when it's ready for pickup. Four days pass and I call the store. Turns out there is only one person in the entire staff who strings racquets, including, but not limited to, repairing bikes. Now he tells me that he won't be able to touch my racquet for another week. Looks like I need to find another location. read more

This store just opened in the past month. I was really looking forward to going there after visiting the store in Lombard. Well, it's not like that store, it's MUCH smaller. There are 2 other sporting goods stores within 2 miles of this store, so I thought they would do something spectacular to distinguish themselves. I couldn't find anything that great. I went looking for kids under armour and found an ok selection after asking 2 different people about it. Then I found what I wanted in the women's section, but not in the kids section. A salesperson wanted me to buy the women's one (which cost $10 more). There were plenty of the sales people around, but like any place that's new, they didn't seem to know much about the store. There were plenty of checkout lines available and the clerk even let my son, who was fascinated with the scanner, scan our purchase. So this place isn't bad for a quick trip to pick up something, but for a wide selection of stuff, go to the Lombard store! read more

I went to see if they had any NB Minimus shoes to try on; my pair is on the fritz after about 2 years of usage (mostly weightlifting but a little running too). Turns out they didn't have them. I originally purchased my NBs from the DSG in Lombard. This one is very clean and I'm glad the staff wasn't overzealous towards me, but I was disappointed they didn't have my product. They do have a good selection of apparel and team sports gear, but I advise against getting a bike here. They don't do the best job with maintenance. read more

I made the trip here today to get my daughter cleats for her fall softball season and I should have went to another location. The customer service here is awful. When we walked in the door we were promptly greeted by a man that I can safely assume was the manager, as he was the only one in a uniform. He directed us to the rear of the store to the shoe department. We arrived in the shoe department and I self directed myself to the shoe department because of the four employees in the area 2 were helping customers and the other 2 were busy talking amongst themselves. After 5 minutes of standing and waiting for someone to check in with us I grabbed a girl working in the department telling her what I was looking for and what size I thought my daughter needed. I could have given her an accurate size had a foot sizer been anywhere around but no such luck. The girl disappears for another 5 minutes and then comes back and checks in and I tell her what works, what does not and ask if she had the bigger size in a different shoe. She rolls her eyes and tells me she thinks she has what I am looking for. This time she promptly comes back but never checks back to see if the cleats fit and if we were taking them. The checkout was pretty quick and smooth other than the cashier not bothering to greet me but rather talk to the people behind me the whole time. When did places stop wearing uniforms so people could identify who works there and who does not? While I can appreciate the more relaxed atmosphere I did not appreciate the girl "helping" us in the shoe department shorts were barely longer than her butt and the cashier's sweats that were hanging off of his. Next time I will make the trek to Woodfield or Algonquin. read more

I took my bike in to be repaired on a Saturday. I told them I needed it in one week. When I had not heard back by Thursday I called, only to hear that my bike had not been worked on. I was told that it would be worked on the next day. However, Friday afternoon, nothing had changed. The clerk was mocking my frustration and the manager was indifferent. Luckily, I was able to get my bike partially serviced at a local bike shop the next day--in time for Bike the Drive on Sunday. I don't recommend this service, unless you want a cheap price and don't care when/if your bike gets repaired. Also, I would worry about the quality/expertise. I would rate it zero stars, but the system wouldn't let me. read more

I used to love this store, everyone used to know everything about their products and were super friendly. You could go to any department and someone would be there to greet you and ask if you need help. Now it is completely different. I went their once during the Christmas season and outside of the place looking like a bomb went off, where were the employees? They were all on their phones or talking to each other. No one asked if I needed anything. I could tell you some of these peoples life story by how much they were talking to eachother while I am waiting for them to start ringing up my items. So I go in there again today, the place is dead, hardly any customers are in there. So I make my way from section to section, you know else wasn't in there the employees. I see one person walking to the front on his phone. No one in footwear, lodge, apparel, or fitness. I found the golf guy to help me after 20 minutes of waiting. Mind you I dont go into a store and expect to be waited on but when I go in I would like to know someone works there, and if I have a question someone knows the answer. I went there to look for football stuff for my two kids and was greeted at the door which was nice. We went to the football section and tried to find an employee to help us. An employee from the lodge section walked by and said he had no knowledge of football but he kindly called another employee to come help us over the mic. About 15 minutes go by and no one comes. I was starting to get a little ticked off. Another employee by the name of Chris walked to us and asked us if we were doing okay. Even though he wasn't an associate from that section, he helped us tremendously with sizing everything. He apologized for the lack of attention from the others and would make sure they would know for next time. A big thumbs up for Chris. They need more employees like him. read more

I will not go back to Dick's in Schaumburg. I asked a clerk in clothing to check a price as the shirt had no tag. She told me I need to go to front and have a price check. So I go to front, and ask a male clerk if I need the checkouts or desk for price. He says you have to go inline as I do not have a scanner. I stand in line(not checkout lanes) but like a service desk checkout and no hello, nothing just the price(very cold). From now on I will shop at Bloomingdale Dick's. They are smaller but I get help from anyone. They will actually get your question answered for you. My husband received excellent help in the golf Dept. of both locations. Bloomingdale seems to have many young employees and they are all super helpful, maybe they actually enjoy their jobs more than Schaumburg employees. read more

Came to this store on a Wednesday afternoon after the new year, the store was not crowded but it seemed cluttered with sales racks in the center aisles and boxes in different departments that clerks were sorting through. I was on a mission for wool hiking socks for my son who was returning to college in Wyoming. I was not greeted by anyone which used to be the case when the store first opened. Normally, I don't mind, but on this visit, I wasn't sure where the socks would be--near the hiking gear? Near the shoes? Nobody to ask, so I made an educated guess and headed to the shoe section. Rows of shoes on sale were cluttering the area, but eventually I found the socks. Again, nobody to help or to ask questions. No worries, modern technologies at my fingertip, I checked out the socks online especially the customer reviews to determine the best sock for my Eagle Scout son (yup, I'm bragging, but also to give the idea that I needed a good quality hiking/backcountry sock). Because they were no longer organized, I checked every single sock for the pair I found and wanted on Dicks.com. It was not available in the store; I selected another style and again searched the racks for the right size! The entire hour in the sock section, not a single employee greeted, approached, or helped me! With 4 pairs of socks in hand, I headed to check out. To my dismay, there was one cashier checking out a customer. Two other customers were in line waiting. An employee was unloading boxes in the department next to the registers making interested noises (which was the reason I noticed him in the first place). After several minutes of waiting and another customer in line behind me, I yelled ... yes, you read right, I shouted, "can we get another cashier up here?" The single cashier at that point noticed the line waiting and got on her com's requesting help. The grunting, noise making employee came to the rescue. When I commented to him about the wait and that paying customers should be priority over unloading boxes, he agreed but indicated that he wasn't on cashier duty and that they were understaffed. If I had more time, I would've gone to the Dicks in Batavia or an entirely different sporting goods store. read more
