We went out on Thanksgiving night to purchase a long gun. It was a little hectic but not as bad as it could have been. My paper work said the 5th Of December I could pick it up. We went in and they had on young kid working the gun section he seemed a little flustered that he had to call the manager over. The manager helped us with picking up the gun and he was very short with us had other customers to deal with in a different location. But other than that our experience was good. I will definitely go back and purchase another gun or sporting goods when in need. read more

Don't buy a gun at this store!! They do not stand behind there products . Always willing to ship them for you to get a repair but will not give you a tracking number to follow. Manager says it is store policy so you are stuck wondering and guessing where it might be. No help from staff what's so ever.. read more

The service keeps getting worse over time. Not worth it! This store is always low on supply and they have the worst customer service. My family comes here to load up on Nike Metcons since we do a lot around kern country with fitness and today we walked out and needed up buying directly from Nike instead of buying in store. Unfortunately, Dick's Sporting Goods on Rosedale Hwy, Bakersfield, Ca, does not have their sale items set up correctly. There were some items on the shelf with blue dots/50% off. Items taken to the check stand and the cashier stated that the items are priced incorrectly. This is very illegal in the state of California. The cashier stated that the "blue dots had been moved". Basically accused my husband of moving the dots? And asked with he was doing with the items?. The cashier very was rude. They were fishing lures that he uses all the time! They were on sale so he was going to purchase them at a sale price. He is a professional and would never ever do anything like that! Bar NONE, Worst buying experience of my life. In April of 2019, I purchased an Olympic Weight Set, A Rack and a Bench for about $1500. I was emailed that the equipment was ready in store and I went to pick it up. When I arrived they could not find my Weight Rack (which is sort of an important piece of the pie ya think!!?!) I was told that there were none in stock and was told to take the weights and bench home then they would special order the Rack and it would arrive on the next truck. I then asked if I could just take home the floor model and they said that they are not allowed to sell those. The business side of me thought it to be ridiculous to potentially lose a customer over something so ridiculous. So, in the interest of not causing a scene and because I was supposedly going to receive the rack on the next truck I decided to wait patiently for it to arrive on the next truck. Well, the next truck became the next truck after that and the next truck after that. I grew impatient and decided that I was going to return everything from the purchase. Dick's then informed me that I was not allowed to return weights (again weights that are unusable without the associated rack). I am now irate. Someone from the store was able to calm me down promising that the rack was on the NEXT truck and he could see its tracking in the computer. So I calmly left thinking that I would be able to have a complete gym in a couple days so I could blow off my frustration by working out. Rack still didn't show up!!! I had a trip out of town the next week and was unable to raise hell at the store after a month and a week of promises. Upon my return almost 1.5 months into the ordeal, I finally received my Rack! Took the rack home and didn't have time to put together for a couple days. Well today 6/11/19 I finally began to put the rack together with much excitement and anticipation. On the very last step of assembly I came to find that the rack was missing the final pieces to my puzzle!!! Already the worst purchasing experience of my life, I calmly called Dick's to see if they had extra parts in stock and if not could I take the parts from the floor model (which cant be used or sold as established when I attempted to take the floor model home in April after not receiving the first shipment). I was told that there are no extra parts, I couldn't take them from the floor model and they couldn't help me. The gal on the phone says, "Maybe you should just call the manufacturer or something, there's nothing I can do!" I am now pissed. I ask to speak to a manager. "Uhhhhhhh there's no manager on duty she only works early in the day but she wont be able to do anything either...." Well, tomorrow is the day I get to speak to the manager about how terrible their service is.... Should be rather interesting.... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! If i could rate them a ZERO I would! The only reason Dick's Bakersfield even has a couple stars is the inability to leave them zero, thus skewing the data!!! Even with the automatic 1 star boost they still have an F rating with their customers.... That should say something to corporate!! read more

Great selection. That's about it. That's all they got going for them. I am not someone who gives bad reviews often. But the experience that my husband and I had today warrants a 1 star. I will never shop at this particular location ever again. Incredibly bad customer service. And I mean absolutely atrocious. Lots of floor staff were seen milling about but they either weren't trained or didn't care enough to do their job. No greetings to ANY customers coming in whatsoever that I observed. No offer to assist a customer if they needed help finding anything. Not a damn thing. When my husband found what he was looking for he went up to the cashier counter while I stood by the entrance. I wanted to see if the cashiers would actually acknowledge him. NOPE. He literally had to wave the shorts he picked out in front of the 2 girls manning the cash register to ring him up. Neither greeted him and continued their conversation while one of the girls half-assed rung him up, dumped his shorts in a bag, and carelessly handed it to him. Well geez girls! Very upset with their idea of "clearance". I needed some work out T-shirts and found one inside their tent sale "clearance". I had to interrupt a boy sitting in a folding chair texting on his phone to find out if I needed to take it inside to purchase it. I bought it and was happy. When home I realized the mfg price was exactly what was on the orange "clearance" sticker below it. (I know, why didn't I notice it before...too hurried) so I called the store to find out why it was in the tent clearance but didn't have a discount at check out. She took the numbers and said it registered as the same price I purchased it for, so it probably was put in the tent by some customer. I remembered about 7 of these shirts being on the rack in the tent so the next day I went in person to check it out. I saw the other shirts and asked a different young man, who was at least folding things and not texting, why the shirt didn't have the 25% clearance price like all the large signs were promoting. He took me to one of the signs and pointed to the very bottom of the sign where you could barely see a print about 1/8" high stating......wait for it......, "if the item ends in .93 or .97" REALLY? I left as the young man who said nothing else but walked back to his folding job. I am now and so are you...warned. I will not be returning. We have other sports stores who have the same if not better merchandise. read more

The salesman promised us our treadmill would be available for pick up in 5 CALENDER DAYS. we paid for it. called the store back in 8 DAYS and asked why we had yet to receive a phone call about our treadmill. Supervisor of sales associate said it was a mistake on his associate's part, but it actually takes 10-15 BUSINESS DAYS! Sears can DELIVER in 7 CALENDER DAYS, FOR FREE! No customer service at all. Went in looking for soccer cleats for my daughter, and the sections was bare, so I had to go search for an employee for help, finally found one and asked if he could check to see if they had the sizes I needed in the back. He gave me this look, as if I had just suggested he walk across broken glass barefoot. Then walked off, presumably to check of they had it. Came back and of course they didn't, and I asked if they had any kid sized cleats in the store at all, he said no and walked away. No effort made to help or suggest anything. I had a small item to purchase so then made my way to the checkout, where only one man was working. I waited, since there was a group of kids arguing with him on the price of a knife. Cashier knew I was waiting to check out but no other employee was called to help me pay, so I waited about 5 minutes until the group left. Then i walked to the cashier and no greeting, no eye contact from him, just silence. I paid and left. So shocked at the lack of courtesy and customer service in this store. I get that we all have bad days, but if you don't like your job then give it someone who wants it. Won't be coming back. read more

I went here for walking shoes that didnt hurt my feet. After waiting for about 10 minutes I was "fitted" by some impatient youth who didnt run and didnt know the shoes very well. He wanted to oversell with shoes and inserts. I said forget it and took my business someplace else.. It was a terrible experience. read more
