I have 2 Glock 30 45 auto. Both firearms have been misfiring. I am not a gunsmith. I walk into Valley Gun Shop, upon entering I look around to veiw my surroundings, I look to the back of the store where 3 people were standing behind the counter, they just look at me, I ask is there someone that can look at my firearm and tell me why it keeps misfiring. The two younger folks look at the man with a beard, the man with the beard stated, "that would be me." I smile, state my name, lay down my pistol case, opening and showing the partially diassembled pistol. The first thing the man with the beard stated was, " this is a lot of gun for a female." I have been using both of these pistols for years. I was shocked. Then he said, don't take this the wrong why, a lot of males have a hard time with these 45's. Hmmm. I thought. I said, I have two, both are misfiring, is this common with these glocks and can I get them check out. Mr. Beard insisted it was too much gun for me, he could clean it, but it looks pretty clean, I can take it in the back and fire it if you want me to. But, it is you not the gun... This really did happen, I could not believe it. Totally unbelievable. No wonder there were no people in the store. read more

I had to have my Ruger rifle sent in to Ruger to be re-fitted for a bolt. These guys facilitated the exchange and made it a painless, straightforward process. I first brought the rifle into the store in a case and explained the issue and what I wanted done. They got some details from me in the store and a few days later, called me to get my approval on moving forward (after Ruger had communicated with them). When they got the rifle back from Ruger a couple weeks after that with the work having been completed, they called me and left a voicemail to let me know. When I returned to the store to pick up the rifle, they got me squared up on what I owed them for everything and I got the rifle home all good to go. This was, start to finish, everything I hoped for, and there were no delays, no hassle, and no surprises. Very happy working with these folks on a process that could have potentially turned into a nightmare with anyone else. read more

Simply excellent. This is a crazy time in CA for anyone wanting to purchase a firearm or ammo. Seems like guns and ammo are the new toilet paper. Terribly small supply and huge demand. And in the face of what are clearly very frustrating times, the staff at Valley Gun are to a person friendly and upbeat. They do their best to get you your gun and your ammunition and they take the time to answer your questions. The store isn't large but its inventory is pretty wide ranging. Whatever need you have , valley gun can meet it. It's a small little shop that has that mom and pop feel and located near downtown near the hospital. There's plenty of street parking.The employees are super cheerful and helpful, answering any questions you may have. Although small the shop has a variety of handguns, rifles , plenty of ammo and accessories. Decorations are pretty cool and funky. Best decoration , tribute to a lab. Dog people are my people. I have come here several times, for my gun certification as well as some PPT (private party transfers). Each time they have been extremely quick and efficient , which is hard to find in a gun shop. This place has been here for 60 years, they are obviously doing something right! The employees do their best to deal with the difficult customers (which I'm sure is the majority of the comments on here) as well as accommodating the nice, patient ones. Not every person who comes in is polite. And you can't expect to be treated a certain way because you've had a bad day. read more

BAD PLACE. Here is my experience. All around just no good, terrible customer service. Certain employees were very rude most the time. They are not very informing at all. Could not answer any questions or concerns. Never once contacted me when they said they would. I always had to contact them. As a first time gun buyer I feel mislead, taken advantage of and miss informed. You would think as an institution like ( Valley Gun ) would be more prepared to a certain level of transparency and information to be able to provide customers with accurate information and keep them well informed of all policies or how they provide their services. They do not. The staffing, and the services are significantly under par to even the most minimal of standard. Most often unhelpful. Valley Gun waisted a major amount of my time and large of amount of my money. As hard working tax paying American it's unacceptable to me the service I received. Had they had better servicing more informed staff or just better staffing in general maybe this wouldn't be the case, but overall such a horrible experience.. Will never go back. DO NOT recommend. I have found much better places to conduct services from. With much better prices I must add. So really ( Vally Gun ) thank you so much for the "help". They work their asses off to make you happy. I like the people who work there. They're usually friendly, sometimes grumpy when they're busy lol, but they're real with you which I appreciate. I overpaid for one of the guns that I bought there, but it was my fault for not doing my research and it was during a pandemic so I'm not really sure how much I actually overpaid by given the circumstances. If you call your most likely to get brushed off. I've called twice and most recent I was told I would need to come in. Didn't answer one of my questions. Just wanted to know what short nose revolvers they had in stock. Told the kid that we were once taught that the most important customer was the one on the phone not the one who's foot were already in the door. Probably the friendliest gun shop for the first time buyer I've ever been in. After basically getting blown off at some of the other places I went to (in their defense, I'll bet there's a lot of time wasted with non-owner window shoppers in this business), Valley Gun treated me like a customer whose business they valued right when I walked in. Ended up taking my certification test AND buying my first handgun on the same day (got a safe too, as they had an outstanding price point on their safes). Ken helped me both initially and at pick up, and was both obviously experienced and incredibly friendly. He answered the e-mail I sent before my first visit, and was just as helpful in store. During the safety demonstration, he gave me a few extra tips specific to what I was buying, which I really appreciated. There was a miscommunication on pick-up day, and I ended up having to wait an extra day to get my piece but the staff were so apologetic and friendly about it that it was hard to be mad. When I came back the next day, I found out Ken had earmarked their last reasonably-priced box of ammo for me so I wouldn't have to spend twice as much on the Remington, which more that made up for the extra 21 hour wait. Their ammo isn't as cheap as you can find elsewhere, but that's to be expected from a small shop in an ammo-shortage. If you're nervous about your first time purchase and need to talk to a friendly salesman, or just tired of getting attitude from some of the other places, I'd highly recommend Valley Gun. read more

Their point of differentiation: they can afford to give you the "one-on-one" advice (particularly useful for "new" firearms purchasers). I have been a customer for over two decades, the owner a man of quality, understanding, and knowledge. I only wish they had a bigger store. I would suggest, however, or this would have been a 5 star rating, that a couple of their staff be a bit more professional and customer friendly. They have a great owner, the best, and I suppose it takes time for the younger to learn from him, even though they've been there a few years. I can ask the owner any question and he always has had the answers. Even with the Covid Crisis, they've continued with integrity and helpfulness, save a little what was written above about a couple staff. With time, they should improve. Important they remember the customer requires information. Love the store. Hope they get through these political, anti-gun, times we live. Our Constitutional Rights are of utmost importance, and we need stores like this. People can support them through these trying times, and for our future. read more
