I had my headlight and door handle replaced. Very responsive and quick service. Communication in person was sometimes unclear but overall it was a good experience and seemed fairly priced. read more

I had two dents in my BMW, one being further damaged by another vendor, that were repaired by Dick's Auto Body. The repair was perfect and done on time. The price was very reasonable and according to the estimate. I highly recommend this body shop. Another bonus was that the shop is near the Red Line metro station and did not need a ride home back to N Virginia. read more

Had a pretty seriously dented panel and door. Repairs were quick and looked great. The price was reasonable and exactly what was given in the estimate. I hope to never use another body shop, but if I do, I'd definitely go back. Bonus points for being in a really convenient location for bike and Metro after you're without your car. read more

I had already selected another provider, but Dick's autobody responded very promptly and politely.

I had a hit-and-run to the driver side of my car. Take a look. The side is caved in so much I couldn't open my door. It needed a new hood and whole new headlight. How much would you say it would cost to fix this? Probably more than $4000. Yoon fixed it for me for $2500. Why go anywhere else? Sure I got the car back a little dirty, but if you want the added fluff, you'll be paying for it elsewhere. read more

Terrible experience. The car came in after being detailed upon pick up the interior of the car was filthy and COVERED IN DIRT. I asked Yoon to clean it and he wondered around in circles. He did not have a vacuum or any cleaning supplies. The communication during the repair was poor. He even used a piece of the damaged weather stripping around the window FOR THE REPAIR instead of replacing it. I've never experienced anything like this. read more

I had gotten into a little accident where my fender was dented and ripped, and my wheel liner had ripped off as well. I went to a couple of places, and Dicks Auto Body was by far the cheapest (nearly 40% cheaper than the next nearest guy). The fender and wheel liner looks like new. Mr Yoon, the owner of the body shop and main repair guy, also gave a life time warranty! Mr. Yoon is easy going, fair and honest. He'll take care of you. I highly highly recommend Dicks Auto body. It's been two cars since our last trip to Dick's Auto Body, and we were glad that Dick Yoon is still in business despite the departure of his beloved neighbor the mechanic Tony Lee. No nonsense here. The job gets done well and the price is well below what you would pay elsewhere. If he is too busy with other work when you arrive, he gives you a specific day to come back. And that is is sometimes too busy is a sign of quality -- it;s because others are on to the secret. read more

Look no further, Yoon is excellent for car repair, just go! Like many people here, I dinged my car badly on a garage post. Dented and scraped driver door and front panel, and broken mirror. Yoon did a beautiful job fixing it all like new and really fast - Monday late afternoon drop off, car was ready by 8am Thurs morning. I paid cash and got a price $300 less than next higher quote. Yoon doesn't speak much English but is friendly and expert in his work. You can trust him to fix your car like magic and at the best price in town. read more

Wow!! This place is as good as it gets and Yoon is amazing. Important note: It's a sole proprietorship, he works on all the cars himself and he only accepts cash or check. The Damage: I hit a pillar in my garage and did a pretty good number with dents and deep scratches on my rear door and rear quarter panel. The Estimate: I checked out 4 different places for price estimates and Mr. Yoon's was by far the cheapest ($300 cheaper than the next lowest estimate). He gave me the quote and said he's swamped this week, but to bring my car in 4 days later. Which was great, and honest. I didn't want to be without my car for longer than I had to be. I brought it in 4 days later, he said to give him 2 days with it and after the 2 days had passed he called me first thing in the morning to let me know it was ready for pick up. The Repair: Amazing. He cut costs by repairing the panels instead of replacing them, and looking at both the panels you would never guess that there had been an accident or any damage to them at all. I was downright giddy about this. When it came time to pay, he gave me the exact price he had originally quoted- absolutely no run arounds or bs. The Extra Mile: I drove all the way to work and was impressed as I noticed he had cleaned the floor mats and washed the exterior of the car. Furthermore, as I walked away, the back of my car caught my eye. For 3 years I have had small surface scratch on the bumper. It had been painted and was completely gone. Out of curiosity, I checked the one other scratch that had been on my car for years- also repainted and gone. My car looks brand new. Overall: You will not find a better repair, better person, or better cost elsewhere. The shop is only 2 blocks from the Brookland-CUA metro station so it was super easy to drop my car off and take the metro home. I will absolutely bring my car back if there's ever another issue. read more

Straight up, direct, transactional, no frills and on point. Mr Yoon asked what he needed to know, assessed the panels (yep, two), provided a quote and delivered back a complete car in the exact time he estimated. I went to another auto body shop before deciding on Dick's because I thought I needed more "polish" and while I got formality and more professionalism, the 2nd estimate included extra costs for bells and whistles that I wasn't looking for. Very pleased with the work at Dick's Auto Body. I'd go back, but I'm hoping not to scrape the side of my car again. read more

For all you haters out there, stop being such high maintenance typical DC people. I'm from here originally so I claim the right to complain about you. I am 100% satisfied with the work done on my car. Yes, Mr. Yoon is a sole proprietorship. That means that he does everything himself. That means that he also cannot accept every single person that walks in the door on his or her schedule. If your time is flexible, i.e. you can still drive your car, and Yoon asks you to come back next week... Go back next week. I dropped by on Friday for an estimate. Yoon gave me one and asked me to drop off my car on Monday. I dropped off my car before work on Monday and picked it up Thursday. You can't even tell that my husband ran into a pole and messed up the entire driver's side mirror and door. I'm so happy that I'm taking my car back in the spring for some other minor damage that is purely cosmetic but driving me me crazy. Just for comparison, the dealership quoted me $2300+ to replace the door and repaint 3 panels so that the entire car "matched". Another body shop near my dealership quoted me $700 for repairing the door plus the cost to repaint it. Yoon quoted me $700 for repairs and paint job of the one door. Guess what, his paint job matches the rest of the car. He even washed my car for me. WORTH EVERY PENNY! read more

You get what you pay for. If you are cost conscious, want some major dents and scratches fixed, and aren't too hung up on details, Mr. Yoon is your guy. My car had a couple large dents and major scratches. Mr. Yoon was able to take care of all the damages. The only flaw is the new coat of black paint has some bubble bumps and doesn't quite match the original's color. I won't lose sleep over that bit of detail. Overall, very happy I found this place. read more

OMG! Dick's Auto is THE BEST!!!!! Dick's Auto is near the New Barnes & Nobles next to Catholic University. Located to the left of Lee's Auto.Yoon doesn't speak english so he can't up-sell you. I don't know shit about cars so - when I look back on it - we're even. The broken tail light and bumper (which was hanging on by a thread) was caused when my partner backed the rear of the car into a pillar in an underground parking lot. Damn you, Trader Joe's! My partner objected to getting the car repaired. He said the tail light is slotted into "brackets" which were out-of-whack. We need to go to a dealership. I told him ... hell no, I am not going to be ticketed and/or stopped by DC cops. He was mad. I went to the repair shop. Yoon and I could not have talked more than 10 minutes. I point to the damage and say how much? Yoon asked if I was fine with Chinese parts? Sure, what's the price? He said $160. Includes the bumper? He said he will fix it. And, he only takes personal checks (no credit card). I'm fine. He took the VIN, the make, model and year of the car. His office has the Korean version of the Sears Christmas Catalog. He ordered the part that day, I dropped the car off the next morning, and picked it up that evening. OMG! He repaired our ghetto cruiser back to a respectable car. The side that was repaired matches the undamaged side. The scratches where the paint peeled were gone. You can see the crack in the bumper if you really look close. But heck, it was $160. And, I'm felt SO GOOD when I showed the repair to my partner. He apologized. I still don't know shit about cars. But, Yoon will help you at a reasonable cost. read more

Thank you Yelp for finding Dick's for me! I knocked my side mirror off in a garage - stupid! I called and the guy quoted me $200 which I thought was a really good price. I was also sort of stressed because I needed my car in a couple days. There wasn't anything the guy could do, but he promised to do the best he could. Well the car was ready and finished 24 hours after I dropped it off! Somehow he managed to acquire the part very quickly! I will say his English isn't the best, but he's really nice and the price can't be beat. Also as previously mentioned no credit cards - check or cash. The service was outstanding though! For $200 not only did he fix my side mirror, but he also washed my car inside and out. And he cleaned my headlights!!! I admit they were really dirty. While I really hope I never have to return if I need body work I will gladly return. And I highly recommend this place if you need body work!!! read more

While I doubt that the kindly middle aged Japanese man who owns it is actually Dick (he probably bought it from the original Dick back in the day) there is no doubt that this is the fastest and FAIREST auto body shop I've used. Dick owns and runs the small two car garage shop in Brookland. (two blocks from the Red Line Brookland Metro station). He evaluates the damage, talks about your insurance options (mine is pathetic) and quotes you an extremely fair price. I'm used to haggling over car repairs under the assumption that everyone is trying to take your last two pennies....but here, I haven't had to haggle at all. I've been there twice and my husband once for some paint. The proprietor does all the body work himself. As an added bonus it is ready on the morning he tells you it will be ready. No calling several times as your car falls lower on the priority scale. The only thing he doesn't do are credit cards. You need to pay in check or cash. If you need some mechanic work done at the same time, Mr. Lee's Garage operates out of the same lot. Very convenient. And I think they do a lot of work together. If you need auto body work, Definitely check it out. He's worth it. read more

My wife messed up the back corner of our car by backing into a pile of construction material that was behind our parking spot. She brought our car to Murphy's Auto Body Shop first, and got an estimate of $801.84. She brought it to Dick's Auto Body Shop for a second estimate. Mr. Yoon said it would cost $300. Too good to be true? We dropped the car off yesterday, and picked it up this morning. The work Mr. Yoon did was beautiful, like an artist. No new parts needed; he just fixed up the old ones. The man who works in (or owns?) the shop next door was sweeping outside; he told me that Mr. Yoon takes great pride in his work, "rare these days." Mr. Yoon showed me that he had also, in passing, scraped off our old registration sticker. We also noticed, afterwards, that another scratch on our car had disappeared. He's a magician, and a gem. Thank you, Mr. Yoon. read more

This is the best place to get your car fixed. I swiped a metal pole in my alley trying to get by. I was really bummed about it, and I proceeded to get a bunch of different quotes. They were all in the $1200 range, and I was irritated at myself for having dinged my car. As a last resort, I looked to see if there was a shop on Yelp, and there were some very positive reviews. I went over to Dick's. It's a sole proprietorship, and the owner works on the cars himself. He looked over my car, and quoted me $400. He told me to bring back the car in a week, and he fixed the car like new in a day and a half. It looks great! He only takes cash or checks, but he is worth it. read more

I saw there were high Yelp ratings and stopped by Dicks. It's a little hard to spot from the road. You have to actually drive into the parking lot of Lee's automotive repair then you will see Dicks to the left. Anyway, my car had been damaged the day before while it was parked so I wanted an estimate to get the bumper repainted. I was given a quote of $500 and was trying to schedule a time for repair however another customer came up and he rudely walked away to help them while saying to me that my repair was expensive. I found myself standing by my car wondering what the heck had just happened. I waited for a few minutes but he didnt come back. I am giving Dicks two stars because he wiped the bumper down so the damage was less noticeable but I go by first impressions. Treating me like my business wasnt as important as the person who came by after me left me with a feeling that me and my vehicle will be treated that way all the time at Dicks so will try somewhere else. read more

Yoon did a fantastic job fixing a large dent/gash on my rear passenger door. Not only did he turn it around in 2 days he did it for a really reasonable price of $700 plus he applied some touch up paint to other areas of the car as a favor to me. The dent ran across two panels and would have easily cost me around a $1000 at other locations. His work was high quality and I definitely recommend his service. read more

Mr. Yoon did an amazing job. I visited the day before Christmas after someone did a hit and run on my car, and Mr. Yoon immediately got my door opening properly. I made an appointment to get the work done after the holidays. He magically restored my damaged car to nearly-new condition without replacing the part, and his charge was (less than my deductible and) about 40 percent of the estimate I got at a fancier body shop (which would have replaced the part). He completed the repair ahead of the time he promised. He was friendly. The shop is just a couple of minutes walk from the Brookland Metro station. read more

You know those folks that do great work, charge less than the other guy, and leave you HAPPY after an auto repair? I can't say I did before, but I do now! Working with Yoon has been the single most positive experience I've had with an auto shop since arriving in DC four years ago. My wife and I recently purchased a Honda Fit with some damage to the driver's fender and bumper, and I had gone to Capitol Collision for a quote. The recommended work came to over $1400, and while I'm sure they do a good job, it was more than we wanted to pay for a purely cosmetic repair. After reading about Dick's on Yelp, I took the car over the same day. Yoon quoted me $600 for the job, and given the reviews we decided to go for it. I dropped the car off Monday, and he called me Wednesday at 8:00 AM to say the car was ready. Fast! I admit, I was apprehensive walking onto the lot--what would $800 less than the other shop look like?--but when I saw the work, I was truly impressed. Such a beautiful job. If you hadn't told me there had been a problem, I never would have known, and Yoon did all this without replacing the fender panel ($$) like the other place had proposed. My father always told me that a good auto body repair person was like a magician, and now I see why! Amazing. Yoon even cleaned up the rear bumper scars and corner scratches, something I hadn't mentioned, and when I expressed my surprise and thanks, he demurred: "Just touch up, touch up." What a guy. He doesn't take cards, and he prefers cash, but this seems a small concession for such quick, quality, and friendly work. Truly a find. Thank you, fellow Yelpers! read more

I called asking for a second opinion on my car's "diagnosis." The owner made it clear that he was very busy, but could see my car for 5 minutes. When I stopped by he made me a top priority and immediately got under my car to look at the situation. He gave me an instant assessment and some recommendations where I could go to get the fix I need. His English is not very good, which was harder to understand over the phone and better in person. Seemed pleasant and friendly. read more

My husband and I were in DC visiting family. Our car was was broken into- the perpetrator had smashed the thank and passenger window. Like several of the other reviewers here, I banged up the side of my car in a parking garage, scraping off the paint to the point where you could see the metal. I found this place here on Yelp, saw all the positive reviews, and decided to stop by. Yoon, the proprietor, gave me a very reasonable price, and told me I could drop it off the following week. I did; the work was done within one day, and there's no sign of the scrapes anymore. Yoon did a great job, and I'm very satisfied with his service. I'll definitely be coming back here if I need auto body work again. read more

Yoon, a very nice Korean man, is the owner and, as of now, the only person working at this shop. He bought the shop from Dick a couple years ago when he retired, but had worked for Dick for over twenty years. I found his quote MUCH cheaper than the Nissan dealership ($800 vs. $2,000). Its definitely worth getting quote here and I can attest to Yoon's superb work. Just an fyi, he does not accept credit cards so bring your checkbook, cash, etc. read more

I screwed up and scraped my car against a pole. Took it to Yoon for an estimate and said $1000. Another body shop quoted me at $1500, so I obviously took it here instead. He also changed my oil for no extra charge. I dropped my car off Tuesday and it was ready to go by Friday morning! I hope I don't have to go to an auto body shop again anytime soon, but if I do I'll be dropping by here. This place looks kinda dingy and unofficial, but they work! He only takes cash. read more

From the moment you meet him, you know he's 100% trustworthy. He did some work and said it would take two hours. Sure enough two hours later and we were on our way. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!! - WE NEED MORE STARS for this one: Let me start by saying I honestly have found my only location to take my car, truck and anything with a motor repaired. I got an estimate for almost $1000 for a side swipe I received from an older guy while parked at a gas station. Found Yoon on Yelp and decided to check him out. Immediately while pulling into the gate he laughed at the dent and said "is that it"? I said yes and how much would it cost. He gave me a price that made me immediately ask when I can drop my car off... Long story short, I think he is a ZEN CAR master, he not only finished my car in what seems like a couple hours, have saved me a few extra dollars from the check the insurance company cut. I've already scheduled to bring my other car in to get a few dings fixed. Hell I may even grab my moms care and get hers a makeover too... Don't search any further. This is your one stop shop. Still trying to figure out how my truck phone called my new phone late in the evening that night though while my car was parked there. I drove to the shop thinking someone was trying to steal it and there she was parked and perfectly fine. LOL.... read more

Highly, HIGHLY recommend! I was definitely wary at first since there was no paperwork whatsoever and the estimate was verbal, but Yoon quoted me $800 for a big repair that Infiniti would have charged me $2200 for (the bright red color is hard to work with and match, and Yoon had to remove both the bumper and side panel). He was fast, and I cannot even *tell* there used to be a enormous scratch on the bumper and panel above it. He even touched up my hood where a rock had carved out another scratched for free. Wow. I came here last week because of the high yelp rating for some minor work on my buick enclave. Yoon spent time with me, gave me a quote, and told me to come back the following Tuesday. I was concerned he had written nothing down, had a disorganized (to put it mildly) dirty office and didnt have my number. He said "dont worry. i remember. Just call me now and ill have your number" Then gave me a dirty business card. I called. I said see you next tuesday. He confirmed. Forward one week: I take off work, arrange for a rental car and head to Dicks for my appointment to get mine repaired. Yoon had quoted me 4 days for the work. I show up and he says "next week is better" I explain all of my costs of time and money to come on our scheduled day. He laughs at me. Says its another tuesday. Gives me a higher quote and calls me by a different name. The experience was awful! Same day I went to a different body shop (Capital Auto Body) who worked me in since I was upset. They did great work and I now have my car in excellent shape 1 day before Yoons quote. DO NOT GO TO DICKS. YOON REALLY LIVES UP TO THE NAME. read more

Yoon is a master. I had hit a post trying to get into an awkward parking spot and really mucked up my passenger side door. Yoon meets all the expectations written about him! He's fast, efficient, cheap, and most importantly, does really high quality work.
