This is another Yelp win. We were hungry and tried several places in several towns .. Germantown laffs .. Middletown Laffs 2 ... springboro empanada place ... no luck. I said park and lets call and make sure a place is open before we do anymore driving. We were already in Springboro so decided to give this a try. We tried it last week and have been there 3 times already. We have tried the pulled pork, ribs. and turkey .. the fresh cut fried, fried okra and the free ice cream is added bonus. We also got the pecan pie before we knew about the icecream. Everything was good and the service is great. They have lots of staff which is unusually these days. you order at the counter .. the first person takes the meats you are ordering .. the second person get the side items. We switched the bread for corn muffin the first 2 times there wasnt an up charge but last time there was.???? Not sure will switch again the corn muffin is REALLY sweet and we weren't in love with it. The sides have a seasoning that has alot of salt .. next time i think i'll tell them light on the salt. Everything came out super hot and fresh. the meat was tender and no thing wrong .. not fat or grissel ... all good. i really liked it and the price was great. Each time we went we split a meal .. that came with 2 meats and 2 sides. It was plenty. I like that it's family owned and ran. They did a fab job!!! read more

We used to have one by me, and it was one of the worst restaurants on the planet. This one is newer, clean, and seems to have a competent staff. The manager was amazing, he was walking around talking to the tables, you can tell he actually cares. The food is just OK, micro portions, not high quality. Yes, I have to admit the food was very good, but the owner was very HOMO-phobic!!! all MY gay FRIENDS BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! She said to me "If there's anything I can get for you, just let me know" I said to her, "I'll have the cute boy on the right" She said to me "WHAT DID YOU SAY?" I said it again and she was very, very, very opffended! This was my first (and LAST) time going there, because while I was eating I just happened to look over at the counter where they were making the food and she took a picture of me while I was eating!?!? Then she came out from behind the counter and started filming me with her phone. Made me very uncomfertable! Then she started filming me while I was eating. I aks her why she was filming me and gave no answer. I apologized twice and then a third time, but it made no difference. I felt so unsafe after that I through my food in the trash and headed for the door. All the time I was leaving she filmed me and I turned to hewr and said Don't worry, I will not be back. She shouted "GOOD!" When I got to me car she came out with her phone and took pictures of my license plate and filmed me leaving the whole time. BE WARE OF DICKIES BAR-B-Q PIT! ON MAIN ST. SPINGBORO! Went to Dickey's with our family today for lunch. Never a disappointment! Great food & great service! Family had the loaded baked potato with pulled pork, pulled pork sandwich, pulled chicken sandwich, fries, Mac & cheese and onion tanglers (thin onion rings/strings) all very good food! Staff was very nice and friendly- staff member personally thanked us for coming in. Great atmosphere and free icecream for dessert! Will be back! read more

We ate here for the first time recently. I was excited to try them because we love BBQ. I will say I'm really kinda disappointed. They are so expensive especially considering the food wasn't amazing. My kids loved the Mac and Cheese. The fries were good, but pretty standard fries. The pulled pork was okay. There wasn't a lot of smokey flavor that I like with BBQ. My family was split on the rolls. My kids liked them, but my husband was upset they didn't serve cornbread. The sauces are also more watery. The original is pretty spicy, but the sweet was okay. I stopped in to pick up our food because of sports, but the restaurant was cute and the staff was super friendly. We will stick with City BBQ from now on though as Dickey's cannot compete with it. read more

With everything Covid right now, I'm not a big fan of eating indoors right now. My Dad and I stopped in for lunch, with the intent of getting it to go, and taking it home. We both ordered the pulled pork sandwich, with baked beans and potato salad. When we paid, and they brought our order to us, they had put it on trays, instead of bagged to go. Misunderstanding from the young lady who took our order, but there was no one in the place, so we decided to go ahead and eat in. They had several sauces, which we tried about 3. The best was the sweet memphis. The pork is excellent, as were the baked beans and potato salad. I'm usually not a big fan of potato salad, but this was great. Service was great, and everyone seemed happy. I know my Dad is a big Dickey's fan now! A note relative to eating inside....they've done a very good job of spacing tables, and blocking the use of the ones in between. There is also a small outside area. We definitely felt comfortable. read more

What a great experience.. the owner (possible Carla if memory serves me?) is an amazing and friendly person. We were visiting some friends in town and they know my love for bbq :) So they suggested we hit up Dickey's on our way out Sunday morning, plus kids eat free on Sunday, two-fer! We strolled in and had 1 person in line in front of us.. the menu is a bit overwhelming as they have a lot of stuff other than just meat and sides. They have sandwiches, mac and cheese with meat and such on it and other items. I'm pretty easy when it comes to bbq.. give me some brisket and maybe another meat and if it comes with a side, i'll eat it. I ended up with brisket, fries and mac n cheese. Kids got chicken tenders, wife got a pulled pork sandwich. Wife enjoyed her pork sandwich. Had enough flavor, was pulled well and easy to manage and was good in size. Brisket - i knew as soon as the girl (high school kid) cut it that it was going to be a bit rough. She cut me 2 'slices' of brisket that were each about an inch thick and nothing but lean meat. - Brisket shouldn't be cut that thick - makes it look and taste like pot roast. It still had decent flavor, but just didn't do it for me. Owner (Carla) was out wandering around the floor and glanced at my plate and came over to ask how things were. Before I could give her some feedback, she knew and we were off to the races! LOL she knew it was cut way too thick and was not hitting the spot. She apologized and told me to hold on, she was bringing me more/better. She returned a few minutes later with some thinly sliced brisket and some more juicy/fatty (ie yummy) brisket. It was probably 1/2 pound of brisket and was soo much better. I was already full, but obviously wanted to eat it. This one was much better than the 1st attempt. She then popped out a few minutes later with some chopped brisket and said she wanted me to try it this way too.. another 1/2 pound of brisket. and soooo good, but i was full at this point. Throughout this was supper engaging, friendly and talkative (but not too talkative). I love seeing engaged and enthusiastic owners that know their business. Before we left she came over and chatted with the kids asking if they liked their food and the ice cream they had.. She asked out youngest her favorite color (pink) and declared the ice cream shall be pink next Sunday. Always fun for the kids. We will swing by next time we are in town to see if the kids behind the counter have gotten the hang of it. It's a fairly new place and a learning curve to be expected. read more

We placed a to go order. We tried every meat and the good ones are the chicken, brisket and the WINGS ARE FANTASTIC! Skip the turkey and sausage, not much flavor and the sausage was very greasy. The green beans and potato casserole are delicious, the macaroni tasted store bought. We tried the carolina bbq, original bbw and hot buffalo. The sauces are good but they are very skimpy with the amount given... definitely needed more than a teeny little cup. I would come back here again just for the wings! read more

I have not been back to the store but I have had several occasions recently that have been catered by Dickies and I have to say, I may not have loved my in store experience but the catering seems to be top notch! I would use their catering service any time! I wanted to love this place, I really did. Everyone talks about how amazing the owners are and I hate to say it but i'm left completely underwhelmed after my third attempt. We came in at a relatively slow time, the employees were all young but very friendly. I ordered the managers special of the day which contained a pulled pork sandwich, a side (potato casserole for me) and a drink. BF ordered the "westerner" platter with potato salad and macaroni. My sandwich was tender but had absolutely no flavor. None. I added a ton of bbq sauce and it didn't seem to help. The bun is thick and soft so I thought maybe it was soaking up the sauce and stealing the flavor so I removed the bun. Still nothing. The "potato casserole " was really just mashed potatoes and that made me sad. The picture of the westerner looked great, lots of meat with pickles, cheese and goodness. What came out was a pulled pork sandwich on a long bun. There was no cheese, pickles or anything that was in the picture. I told BF to take it back but he was annoyed with the situation and just ate it. The potato salad looked just like my potato casserole and I saw them pouring the bag of artificial cheese sauce into the Mac and cheese so I didn't even ask about that, Blech. The only upside is the free ice cream at the end. We don't typically get dessert but felt like we needed something to salvage the meal. We went for their Grand Opening and were very impressed with the quality of meat! The turkey and pulled pork were delicious! My friend got their ribs and said they were okay, but not great. Their fries tasted good but could have been a bit crispier. The mac and cheese was delicious to me - but my wife and friend both just said it was average. They have free ice cream, which is cool. We didn't get any though. They also have two drink machines - which may seem trivial but I'm so tired of the restaurants with one drink machine that has a line of 10 people at it! One thing that I did find very odd - their BBQ sauce is in warmers and you have to ladle it into a small cup. Impossible for kids to too, and even adults were making a mess. read more

My family and I love City Barbecue, but don't enjoy making the drive to Centerville or Mason to get it. We decided to give Dickey's a try after seeing it pop up on DoorDash a few times and the food is so delicious. My kids are really fond of the ribs, while I tend to lean towards the pulled pork sandwiches. We've also tried the brisket and the jalapeño sausage and all of the meats are tender and full of flavor. The sides are all good too, and I'm so excited to have found some decent fried okra! 10/10 would absolutely recommend. read more

The service is cafeteria style. But they were quick, answered my question . Food quality and quantity were right on. I ordered the owner special. Pulled pork, 2 sides, roll and large drink for under 11.00. They had other specials like pulled pork, mac + cheese and jalapenos called the Iron gut. The only thing I would like to have seen would had been some Carolina BBQ sauce. But the free ice cream cone made forget it. The food at Dickey's is okay. I found the pulled pork dry but adding some extra sauce helped. The potato salad and and mac and cheese were average. Good service, a clean restaurant, and friendly employees is what makes the difference here. I'll come again and try some of the other menu items. read more

Hubby and I visited Dickey's Barbecue Pit last weekend. No one was behind us in line and we needed a minute to look so I asked the guy at the counter (manager maybe?) to tell me what I need to know. He happily told us about all the specials and what were their best sellers - brisket and pulled pork by the way. Hubby and I both tried a sampler plate with different meats so we ended up trying almost everything. The ribs and brisket were our favorites. Least favorite was the chicken. Sides were ok. BBQ sauce was self-serve and the container was HOT. Do not allow children to serve themselves! Everything was good. Service is pretty much non-existent, but that's the style of the restaurant - mostly self serve. All in all, I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to go here again when there are other places that are just as good closer to home. read more

Met with Rick, the owner to discuss catering for my daughters graduation party. He suggested a few items and was extremely helpful throughout the process. Rick called the day before to confirm everything which was reassuring. Delivery showed up on time and to my surprise it was Rick coming to do the setup! He brought everything in, setup was quick and the presentation was excellent. Food was a big hit with all guests. I highly recommend Dickies for any party you may have! read more

I have to say I was really looking forward to trying this place but the experience just wasn't there. You are corralled through line and your first opportunity to see the menu is when the "meat guy" is asking you what you want. I blurted out brisket and the "sides guy" was already hounding me to make that decision. I got green beans and baked beans. I included a drink for a whopping total of $15...for lunch! That's not really all that unusual though for good bbq. The brisket was nicely cooked but I felt it lacked smoke and seasoning. No rub? I am not one for sauce and good bbq doesn't need it. The green beans had great flavor. I enjoyed them. The baked beans are what I judge every bbq place on and I ate two spoonfuls and pushed them away. I was not a fan. They tasted like plastic. I deliver for door dash, they're always polite and smells amazing, so tonight I decided to give it a try for my family and the food is just as fantastic as the service. We got to try some of the sides before we ordered and they were super patient as we made our selections. They made sure we got free ice cream even though we ordered to go, my nephew thought this was just the greatest! The manager helped us out to the car because I had my 3 month old with us also. When we got home it was soooooo good. They made sure we got a lot of Sweet BBQ sauce too. All the meat was super tender and my 2 year old niece loved the turkey and she's a picky eater.
