One of the Dayton area better breweries... CHBC is always consistent with solid beer. We haven't been back since we've move, but made it in on a Thursday while in town - Same old CHBC. Good beer, good service, and still the same cool atmosphere. They added food a few years back when they expanded, and the menu looked really good. We had some nachos as a snack when we were in and they were solid. I still contend Yellow Springs is far and wide the best brewery in the Dayton area, but CHBC holds their own and their beer. read more

Stopped into Crooked Handle Brewing Co. for lunch, and it did not disappoint! The place has a great atmosphere, and our server Katie made some awesome suggestions. My wife loved her Spicy Mule, and we shared a "Half Nacho" that definitely looked more like a Full Nacho (no complaints here!). Checked out this brewery the other night for dinner. They have a wide variety of beer that they brew. I tried a few of the lighter ones...they were good! We ordered chips and guac. The guacamole was awesome! It's a small place with high ceilings so it doesn't feel small. The staff working the bar was friendly and gave recommendations about the beer. I had a chicken Caesar salad wrap...it was pretty good, but I think they forgot the Caesar dressing because it definitely was not on there. Fun place for apps and beer! read more

My wife and I and another couple went to CH because of their restaurant week promotion. Our server was very friendly, took our order in a timely manner. Our friends got their salads and finished, my wife and I never got ours. When we asked our server, she went to "check", and then brought out our entire order all at once. In the meantime, I had ordered a second drink and they brought me the incorrect drink. In the process of fixing their error, they brought my friend two more drinks (his order was correct), before bringing me the correct drink. Very underwhelming. I'd guess I've been to about 40-50 breweries and this one probably had the least personality. If you're located in a strip mall, at least liven up the inside. It was really just a few TVs and plain walls--I was shocked with how boring it looked. The good that I saw was the live music tonight was fantastic and the place looked rather clean. The prices were fine; not good and not bad. Just fine The service was bad. We visited tonight and when we walked in with our two daughters our options were a bar top staring at a wall or seats at the bar (but with backs for the chairs.) We tried to sit at the bar (and admittedly I didn't think we could sit there with our daughters)--but a waitress was like, "Uhm... no kids are allowed at the bar." It wasn't the message that was the problem (I assumed as much), it was the delivery. No pushback from us, so we found another table. At that table, the same woman was our waitress. The menu had a portion that was a tad confusing about whether it being offered or just discounted during Happy Hour, we tried to order a quesadilla and "WOAH--you can't order from that portion" That, I guess, "rule" seemed a little weird, but once again it was the delivery, not the message itself. She was also slow checking in on us and the food seemed a tad slow as well. I debated between a 2 and a 3 for my rating, but the beer ("Bombs Away") was a solid 2, so I went with that. In some ways I feel like Crooked Handle and I grew up together. I first went when it was a new brewery and I was still drinking Blue Moon when I wanted fancy beer. It was a cool place to kick back with friends, never crowded and the beer was pretty good. They grew, my taste in beer improved. I'd pop by for greyhound rescue meet & greets on their patio. Next thing you know they've expanded to serving food and here we are! Oh my god I hate it. Everything that made it unique and wonderful is gone. It's just another super crowded Springboro eatery. The food was almost good but never quite hit the mark. The pork seasoning wasn't right for the Cuban. The sauce on the tots wasn't cheesy enough. The beer was ok, but I didn't even finish mine and I was ok with that decision. Maybe it's nostalgia, but change isn't always a good thing. Sometimes growth means you lose the thing that made you special and that's what happened here. Springboro has another restaurant, but it lost a damn good brewery. read more

They just recently added a KITCHEN!!! We were so excited to get the opportunity to finally eat here. They have been planning it for quite a while and it is finally here. The menu is really good. They have a great selection of appetisers, salads, burgers, wings, sandwiches, and their special chili. We ordered hummus, cauliflower bites, beer cheese and pretzels, and crooked tots. The hummus has amazing flavor with oil, garlic and herbs to stir in. It came with peta, carrots, cauliflower, and celery. The cauliflower bites were crispy and the seasoning on them was amazing. They came with a sweet chile sauce. The tots were smothered with beer cheese, onions, and jalapenos. I just had the leftovers for breakfast. :) I was impressed with the number of vegetarian options they had. You could even get any of their burgers in a plant based option. I'm thinking they could even accommodate vegan options just by dropping cheese and sour cream from some of their menu items. It's always good to have options. Crooked Handle may not be the largest craft brewery I have been in, but don't let the size fool you! This brewery has great beer and awesome food. We had the smoked wings, cauliflower bites, and the bacon bleu cheeseburger with beer battered fries. All were delicious. Their red chili sauce is money! Their peanut butter porter and coffee beers are a reason to visit by themselves, and they do flights which is awesome. Our bartender Carrie was pretty great too. This is a great little brewery located in Springboro. I've been here a couple of times and enjoyed the beer. I really enjoyed the experimental batches. They were interesting and different flavor combinations that I have not encountered in other breweries. It's even more enticing that you can get flights of 5 beers and try new and different brews. On the last Saturday I was there, they had live music which really added to the ambiance. Still need more? They allow outside food to pair with the beers and I recommend ordering the Naples style pizza from the Dorothy Lane Market next door. It's excellent! read more

This was place was busy, considering the pandemic. We sat at he bar and the service was quick to order drinks, an appetizer, and meal. There are many different beers on tap. My boyfriend enjoyed the PB Porter and Trinity Haze. I'm not a huge beer person, so I ordered a cider on tap. They only had one cider on tap, Ciderboys Raspberry, but it was still good. We ordered the loaded nachos as an appetizer. The cheese was a bit different, almost fluffy. We also ordered boneless and smoked wings. The smoked wings are tossed in their signature dry rub. They were absolutely delicious. So good, that I ate them without dipping sauce. The. boneless wings seemed a bit bland. Overall, it was a good experience and we will be back again. read more

We came here after completing our Christmas shopping to try a new brewery in Ohio. I immediately gravitated to the Peanut Butter Porter. The brewing facilities, bar, and fun zone are not separate rooms which gives you the feeling that you are where the magic happens. As we walked in we saw oak casks aging some of their beer. The establishment is part of a shopping mall with parking outside, and yes the pouring handles are all crooked. If you live close by and want life time happy hour pricing plus your name on a plaque just consider a donation of $1000. There are other levels of contribution with other benefits too. My husband and I took a hike at Clifton Gorge in Yellow Springs, and on our way back home needed to make a stop in Springboro to pick up some electronics. After an enjoyable morning of hiking we needed some sustenance, and this place looked like it would do the job. We weren't disappointed! We started with the smoked/fried wings accompanied by a Trinity Haze IPA for me and a Bombs Away IPA for hubby. The wings were tender and delicious, the blue cheese dressing was perfect and the beers were crisp, clean and just what we needed after a long hike. We followed the wings with a Ruben (pretty much perfect) and an avocado bacon burger (fresh, juicy and ginormous, it tasted like homemade). We made good choices, aided by Tyler, our server. Personally, I can't wait to be back in the Springboro area so we can drop by and have another great experience. read more

We were a little worried as we pulled in the the parking lot and there was not one spot open so we did a lap and somebody was leaving and got their spot. The worry was that the eatery was going to be a wait even though it was before 5p. No worries, we were taken to our table right away. Menus were opened by scanning the card on the tables. Neither of us were very hungry so we ordered the bacon blue burger and tots to share while the lovely Mrs ordered a hard cider that they had on tap. The drink was delicious. The hamburger was a bit bland for me? It was odd that I could taste the bun but not the burger itself. The chunks of blue cheese brightened things up a few times. The tots were amazing though. They were the star of the dinner show for me. Fresh, hot and crunchy. Will we go back? Yeah, but maybe with small a group of people but not just the two of us again. The service was fine. What a great place to visit while in Springboro. I continue to be amazed at the service the staff provides at this location. I know I have not reviewed this locations despite their excellence in service and drinks. One way in and one way out. But most of all there is check in line to get seated. Then there is tab app to reduce contact. You can pay for your tab at your table when ready. Amy our server this evening was prompt, super friendly, and very informative on the drinks available this evening. The bartenders specifically Tricia was great as well. Always a happy greeting with a hidden smile due to mask wearing but a pleasure as always!!! This location is an example of phenomenal service and drink menu that is beyond expectations. They also have a full food menu. We didn't eat this time. Loved the casual atmosphere. Seemed as much like a local bar as a brewery. Right next to the Dorothy lane market on route 741. They have cocktails now so this place is a winner in our books! I'm a cocktail girl and my boyfriend loves craft beers. Sometimes it's really hard to find a place with a great balance. I think this place will be our new regular! They also allow dogs, Atleast used to which is cool in my book. Beers are good and very versatile. They have some snacks and allow food in from other restaurants and of course the delicious DLM which is a must when in the area. Really like this place and their beer. Very dog friendly, sometimes have food trucks and can always bring in Jimmy Johns or DLM. Great atmosphere, comfortable couches or lots of tables. They have a small front patio and on a mild evening, great place to sit without too much noise from road. Inside is simple with a nice long bar. Bonus - their patio is dog friendly. They have a nice selection of beers they produce about a dozen plus another 8 beers from guest breweries. They also have a full bar and a small selection of wines. I liked they have a sitting area with couches for some casual group interaction. Food wise, they have food truck Fridays with a different truck each Friday. Bar service was great. My wife and I came here Sep 9th for the first time and enjoyed ourselves. We had the cauliflower bites (deep fried with what tasted kind of like spicy Old Bay-ish seasonings), the brewhouse salad, and the bacon bleu burger. All were tasty. Nothing I was disappointed with in any way. I would disagree with the reviewer who said the burger is the size of a slider. It's certainly not a 14 oz slab of meat, but I think the oversize bun (DLM) makes the patty look smaller than it actually is. The above food with a couple beers was plenty of food for the two of us to share. As for the prices, well, it's real homemade food, not frozen patties, and it's Springboro, so what do you expect? They've added seating outdoors in the parking lot and the service was excellent, even in "remote" seating. What attracted me to this place was that I saw they had a pumpkin beer and a peanut butter porter on tap. I was worried the atmosphere might not be that unique but I honestly loved it. It's small and they have their brewing equipment up at the front of the brewpub and some local art on display as well which is a nice touch. I was so glad to try the pumpkin beer and peanut butter porter and the bartender even recommended mixing the two which turned out to be a nice combo.
