The Ice Cream machine is gone for no good, the fries are baked, not fried anymore, and the portions are smaller. Sorry, not anymore!

Decided to give this new bbq place a try. Being the third time my wife and I ate out today I decided to eat a little lighter. I got just a 1/2 a rack of ribs and the wife went for the pulled pork of which she is a fan of pulled pork. So much so that she will usually opt for that over a burger or sandwich most of the time. We also tried the Mac and cheese and waffle fries. The taste. At the time of this review there was only one review and he kinda ragged on the ribs saying they were salty and soggy. I didn't think that would be the case from looking at them. He was correct. The ribs were a little salty for my liking and were also pretty fatty. I love tender, fall off the bone ribs and these were not that. Dipped in the sauces the meat was ok but not great. They do have 3 sauces, regular, sweet snd spicy and they are in warmers off to the side. I tried them all and they were pretty good. My wife's pulled pork was average. She didn't eat much more than half and said it was ok but not good enough to overeat. The fries were good and the Mac and cheese was good but not great. Overall, I will say there are better pulled pork, ribs and Mac and cheese elsewhere in town. Some people said the turkey is to die for and we didn't try that yet, maybe next time. This isn't a favorite but it's a decent bbq option. I would skip the ribs though and go for one of the sandwiches. Lastly, there is free ice cream when your done so don't forget to grab a cone before you leave. Enjoy! read more

My first time trying Dickeys. I ordered online. My pick up time was 4:50. I arrived and was told to sit while they assembled my order. I sat. Other customers came in and got served. Ten minutes later, I checked again and was told they were working on it. Ten minutes later, I let them know the pick up time was 20 minutes ago. They apologized and began assembling my order. 5 minutes later they brought order, 25 minutes late. You I think the story is over but it's ready to begin. So I drove all the way to Scott. I opened up my bag and found my ribs were missing. I called Dickies back. Spoke with a manager who said she would have the other manager called me back. That phone call never happened. I get it bbq is labor intensive and takes time to get right. Some do ok but most don't. Brisket is expensive I get the higher cost. But damn $7.00 for a half pound of chicken when the whole 4-5 pound chicken cost less than $4. The food here is ok at best but most people should try and do it themselves. I used to live in Dallas (home of Dickey's) and have eaten there at least 20 times over the years...While I know this Dickey's in Lafayette is new, and the employees are still learning, I was shocked at how disorganized this place was, and how poorly trained their employees were. Here is a summary: 1. The guy making sandwiches was so slow that it took more than 20 minutes for the 8-10 people who were on line to get through it and pay.. I know because I timed it. At Dickey's in Dallas, (or any other bbq place) they would've served 25-30 people in that time. Making a bbq sand only takes 30 seconds not five minutes to figure which piece of meat to use, get it ready, slice it. It took at least 5-7 minutes before I figured out how to order what I wanted and the guy to make it. In Dallas it would've been "sliced beef sandwich with mac n Cheese and green beans". Done deal. 2. The menu is so confusing that the customers don't understand it. You order the meat, and then side dishes, or you get a sandwich.... what happened to the brisket or rib plate that comes with 2-3 sides.? 3. When I said I wanted the brisket sandwich, the guy started making me a chopped beef sandwich. I didn't order chopped beef, but he said that's what you get when you order a sandwich. I know in Dallas you order a sliced beef, or chopped beef sandwich so I don't understand this. And when I said I didn't want the chopped beef sandwich, he took the bag of chopped beef and threw it in the trash. Really? I've never seen such a thing. 4. I saw the meat cutter slice a new brisket, taking off the fat and then separating the 2nd cut from the 1st cut. He then sliced a piece of first cut that was at least a half a pound off the side and threw it in the garbage... It was meat, not fat. This guy has no clue how to slice bbq and really needs another job, as he is costing this restaurant money. I know that this Dickey's is new, but they've got some serious training issues here and a menu that the customers don't understand. If it was during lunch and the place was busy, I could not imagine how long it would have taken to get through the line. I will come here again though, as their brisket was actually quite good, although $2.25 for a tiny side of mac n cheese or green beans is a rip off. read more

Absolutely the worst I've never written a review before, but then I've never had food and service as bad as this before. I ordered on-line 30 minutes before I wanted to pickup, when I walked in and I asked for my order all I heard was "Oh, I didn't notice this order. They then started preparing the food to take out. The onion rings were soggy and so salty that they were inedible. The baked potato was that sickly brown that baked potatoes get when they sit too long. The ribs were fatty and I never did get my barbecue sauce, it wouldn't have mattered. In a food rich town like Lafayette, LA, Dickey's won't last long and it doesn't deserve to. read more

Mediocre barbecue on opening day. The ribs were too salty and soggy. The sweet tea is awesome! But the service was great! A great positive atmosphere and smiles from the workers. And for what you see is $21.05 total. Too pricey for that amount of food. I have a net other dickeys barbecue and they were phenomenal. I've eaten there twice already this week!! Although the food is tasty, the flow of the restaurant is overall a little confusing. Me and my boyfriend had to wave to get the employee's attention in order to know what exactly to do. Once we got our food, we were content! It's not the absolute best bbq we've ever had, but I think it's delicious!!! We were introduced to Dickey's in New Orleans and loved it. The staff was always prompt, friendly, and very attentive. Moving back to Lafayette, we were excited to see a Dickey's located here. Passed by for lunch, walked-in, no acknowledgment, and waited for the lady to finish washing her dishes to come to the office to let someone know we were there. This was the worst. The restaurant is confusing to navigate, and the menu is even more confusing. Placed our order, had trouble checking out, then manager caught attitude. Asked for sauce and was ignored. I will give them one more try, but if no improvement is made, it will be my last time. Better bar-b-que from my backyard. read more

Thought we would give it a try, against my better judgment. They didn't disappoint me. Service was poor. Three workers barely spoke up and then didn't pay attention when you answered them. Missed one side order and was told they would bring it out. Had to go ask for it. Then two workers started fussing as to who didn't make it. Meats were fair. Mainly brisket dry and ribs over cooked. Cole slaw was good. Fried okra thrown into grease frozen and stuck in clumps so the middle of each clump was not cooked. Two of the three trash receptacles had paper signs across them telling you to put your trash in a specific one. (I guess they were out of trash bags or the staff was too lazy to want to empty three different ones.). Don't think I'll go back. read more

My first experience here and it was a horrible one. My husband and I felt like eating bbq which is rare for me. We ordered our food through Waitr around 6:40 p.m. with a delivery time of 8:14 p.m. after some time I get a call from an employee at 8:03 p.m., telling me that they ran out of chicken. I understand restaurants run out of things so no big deal and they just substitute the chicken for brisket. I get another call around 8:08 p.m. from the same employee saying they ran out of cream spinach! Ok, we substitute that for a ceaser salad ! Keep in mind my food is supposed to arrive at 8:14 p.m. ! I get my food at 8:30 ! and of course it's lukewarm and my "fully loaded baked potato" and it only had cheese on it ! I called the restaurant to explain that my potato has nothing on it but cheese the employee tells me "they were supposed to call you and let you know we don't have bacon or chives" are you kidding me ?! I ordered a 3 meat plate, paid extra for the premium meat, was excited to have a good meal when I got home....nope The pork ribs are off a piglet, baby back juniors....the brisket was about as much as a large piece of beef jerky, just not as tender Both meats were so dry you could not chew!! Corn tasted like it had been soaking in water all week... Van d kamps beans have more flavor....absolutely could not eat this meal... $20 for a hardtack roll and a drink is what I got. read more

Wow, finally Texas style BBQ in Lafayette. Sides taste like home made. High quality meats and 3 kind of sauces. If you are and ice connoisseur then you will love it, better than Sonic. The ice cream is old fashioned soft serve like my child hood. read more

The food is good but the portions are small. I got the two meat plate and received two small parts of brisket and two ribs. There was a $2 upcharge because I selected "premium" meats. Add a drink to that order and you're right at $17. The service is slow. I think it's a combination of being understaffed and the way the operation is set up. There were seven people ahead of us when we arrived and it took about 25 minutes before we placed our order. I would probably get their food again but will use Waitr. read more

Pathetic!! I ordered Cole slaw and smoked chopped beef. I received fresh slaw drowning in a sugary dressing along with cold, greasy, chunks of beef with big globules of fat. It only got worse when I added the sauce. I have eaten barbecue all of my life. I have eaten the good, the bad, and the ugly. I have driven out of my way in pursuit of good barbecue. After hearing how good the BBQ at Dickey's was, my sister and I tried to eat lunch there. The servers (?) behind the country were totally indifferent. I said that the way the menu was presented was confusing and received absolutely no help in ordering. Once my sister's order was taken the meat was put on the plate and placed by the sides but no one came to ask her what sides she wanted. I ordered a sandwich and was going to add a side but couldn't get anyone to take my order. We ended up telling them to cancel our orders and walking out and going elsewhere--and we were both hungry and anticipating barbecue. If you expect service don't go here. We never even got our orders completed. I'll not go here again--there are other BBQ places where they treat you like a customer. read more

I've eaten here twice now. Both times were for dinner. Both times were around 7:30pm. Both times, I ordered something and was told it wasn't available. When I asked how long it would take to be available, I was told 30 to 45 minutes. I asked "Really? Why so long?" and the response I got was "Well, actually, we ran out." Ran out? Or just didn't want to make more? I settled for items I didn't really want because they were "out" of what I wanted. The first time we ate there, it was obvious they were very ready to close for the night. We actually felt like we were in the way by sitting down to eat an hour and a half before closing time. A young girl started cleaning tables and sweeping floors around us while we were eating. There's not much I hate more than a restaurant employee sweeping or vacuuming right at my table while I'm eating. Then she started picking up chairs and stacking them on the tables. By this time, it was around 8pm. They were still open for another hour. There were still people coming in to place orders and eat. So, of course, I thought "I guess that's why they were out of everything. They just didn't want to make more so close to closing time." Perhaps if they want to start closing the restaurant at 7:30 instead of 9:00....the hours should be changed and closing time should actually be 7:30. So it didn't surprise me when we tried to give them another chance last night and they were "out" of the item I wanted yet again. Look, I totally get that nobody wants to have food waste at the end of the night. But it was an hour and a half before closing and at least 20 to 25 more people came in after us both times we were there. Did all those people have to just take what was left because Dickey's "ran out" of the things they wanted? I guess you have to go for lunch if you want a shot at being able to eat the food you actually want rather than whatever scraps are left in the bins when they are trying to close an hour and a half before closing time. read more

Let start off saying I NEVER EVER EAT OUT!!! I enjoy cooking and creating too much! I always bring my own lunch to work. I'm very weary of eating out these days especially given all the phone/youtube videos of fast food places doing discussing things to the orders. But, I was given a Dickey's gift card so I decided to give them a try. Being a Q master I'm the worst person to take anywhere to eat ...hell, I can't even stand myself sometimes:) The entire lunch thingy started off bad...1)the website wasn't working, 2)I called and asked for a menu to be faxed they weren't able to do it, 3) plus I've been told before that the food was hit and miss. The young lady who answered the phone suggested I could look at a menu from any the delivery services. Ok, with that done I decided to play it safe and get the smoked wings. I mean, how bad could they be...if anything I could doust them with hot sauce and ranch dressing right....WRONG!!! Absolutely fantastic wings from the smell, to the smoky taste, to the dry rub, and to the delicious sauce...I ordered Hot buffalo but I was given the Carolina sauce instead...what a wonderful mistake! Bone sucking finger licking belly full job well done...I even called the location back and told the young lady how much I enjoyed the wings and to please tell whom ever done the wings and or took them off the pit they were on point!!! My husband and I have been to Dickey's Barbecue Pit several times. The food is good from the sandwiches to the barbecue plates. The sides dishes are good also. They have the best fried okra & macaroni and cheese. The other food is worth it also. The service is good. The staff is friendly as well as the manager David. They are always wanting their customers to be happy and have a pleasant experience. We have had other family members and friends that have eaten there and have liked the food as much as we do. I ate here the 3rd night it was open. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE DISGUSTING Bar b que. I had the brisket, It was cold not cool or warm but cold, I brought my tray of food back to the cashier and told her it was cold, I was told that they could give me a box so that I could bring my food home to heat it up. I said NO I am eating here, I was then told to get in Line and I could reorder, I said NO , I had already waited 45 minutes in line to order and another 20 minutes at my table for the food. I then asked the other customers if their food was cold and the majority replied yes, Then a "manager" came up to me and stated he would have me removed from the premises if I did not want to sit down and eat my food. A few of the other customers came to my rescue and stated that they too would leave "unsatisfied" if I was asked to leave. It was a terrible experience and the food was disgusting and the staff very,very unprofessional. I decided to give them another chance and returned 6 days later and to my disgust again the food was cold and had no flavor, I did not eat it and demanded a refund and was told "Yeah right". What type of place are you running ?????? I hope this place has to shut down within 18 months, I hate to put people out of work but for the outrageous prices they charge and the disgusting food and unprofessional Management and staff, this place needs to be shutdown. read more

Ordered 2 meat plate to go. Got chicken and brisket and both were so dry and tough and had hardly any taste at all. Thank goodness for BBQ sauce. Roll was hard. Asked for green beans and potato salad and got green beans and coleslaw. Sweet tea was best part of the meal. Will I go back? No not at $16.00 for that food. read more

This place is way overpriced for the quality of food. You walk in and there is one guy cutting meat. He cuts your meat, wraps up the left overs and puts back in warmer. Then gets the next meet out of warmer, unwraps, cuts off your order, wraps back up and puts back in the warmer. This causes a huge bottleneck. As my husband and I eat our $45 dinner we saw people after people walk out as the manger wondered around with not a clue! People were standing around and one poor guy is working his ass off. Meh, it's decent tasting barbecue. I have been here several times and service was always so slow. Tonight while waiting in line the couple behind me left because of how long it was taking for them to take orders. Every time I've ever gone the meat was barely warm. By the time I eat half of my brisket, the other half is always cold. After waiting like 25 minutes in line tonight behind maybe six people, I finally got to the register to pay and to get my food, when a waitr driver comes in. The driver skipped the line. My husband and I had to stand there looking at our order for like three minutes while the employees got the waitr food, looked for the receipt and an ink pen for the driver, before checking my husband and I out. I really like the taste of the barbecue here, but the wait time is just too much. read more

alright i'll be up front and say it im from houston and have been looking for a decent bbq place around town and im yet to find one that even comes close to real texas bbq. It wasnt horrible and the flavor was ok at best but definitely not texas bbq. Yes i said that twice there is a difference between texas bbq and bbq from texas. Its a dallas chain and have never found there bbq that good anyway and this kind of cements that. We got sliced brisket and the price was decent the sauce was mediocre and the meat was cut completely wrong (with the grain)thats a big no no. The bbq could have got maybe 3 stars and another visit from us but i'd say this will probably be the last. YOU DONT NEED SAUCE FOR BRISKET UNLESS YOUR HIDING SOMEHTING and i had to use sauce and i dont even like sauce. Please dont call this texas bbq and people from lafayette dont say that you've had texas bbq if you've eaten here its not. read more
