Don's has the classic gas station setup, a ready to eat counter with BBQ and Cajun options, snack aisles, and fridge full of Cajun specialties. We ordered cracklings, boudin balls and crawfish pie. The boudin balls were the stand out. The cracklings were fresh and crunchy, but the seasoning is underwhelming. The crawfish pie missed the mark completely, not much crawfish, very doughy and the seasoning was pretty bland. Compared to the undisputed champion (looking at you, Billy's) with huge lines 24/7, Don's is a good option if you're willing to trade some of the quality with the convenience of no wait time.

On my most recent visit, I got their in house made beef jerky, homemade pork skins, the boudin balls and some jalapeno honey mustard to take home. All of it wonderful. One of my buddies who I was road tripping with, was smart enough to bring a cooler. He bought frozen boudin balls, a few pounds of boudin, some smoked sausage and some sort of stuffed chicken. What's a boneless stuffed chicken? Well. Just that. When I came into the store earlier, I could clearly hear employees in the back arguing with one another. The situation was loud enough to be heard from the shopping area, and I found it to be very unprofessional and quite disturbing while I was trying to shop. As a customer, I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect, especially from a local grocery store that prides itself on serving the community. Hearing employees raise their voices and argue openly gives a negative impression and makes the environment uncomfortable for shoppers. Because of this experience, I have decided to take my business elsewhere. I recently shopped at Rouses and found the staff there to be noticeably more professional, courteous, and friendly. The cashiers were polite, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant -- exactly what customers hope to find in their local grocery store. I am thoroughly disappointed with the experience I had at Nunu's in Youngsville, and based on this incident, I am unlikely to return. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the behavior of the staff to ensure other customers don't encounter the same issue.
