Very disappointed. Delivered through door dash. Delivery was great. I ordered the pork rib platter with two sides and a brownie. I also added two drinks which were good. The baked potatoes casserole appeared to be made with old potatoes. They were brown, tasted overcooked, and did not taste like they had cheese, bacon or green onions in it. The Texas corn was very thick creamed corn and too spicy. I could not finish either side. I was looking forward to the ribs; However they were mostly fat and had a lot of grease on the bottom of the container. When I ordered the blondie Brownie I was thinking it was a blonde brownie made with white chocolate, not chocolate brownie with white chocolate flakes. I couldn't taste the white chocolate. I've had Dickey's before at other locations and so I thought this would be good. I will talk with the manager tomorrow since I ate as I worked and could not take the time at work to sit down and talk with them. I could not enjoy my meal as it was not good. In all I could not eat but about 1/3 of the meal. The drinks were good. I ordered a sweet tea and Lemonade to mix for making an Arnold Palmer. I'm not sure I will order from here again. read more

I've been to Dickey's a few times and always had a great experience, but it's been a few years and this time around it was depressing. I was craving some brisket and decided to visit since it was near by. I ordered the two meat plate (double brisket) and I didn't even bother to check my food until we had left. When I opened up my food, I was so disappointed to say the least! The portion was so small. It's nothing compared to what it used to be. The brisket was terribly dry, so dry that I could barely swallow it. It was definitely not worth the $17. read more

Have been to Dickeys several times in the past few years. Always have loved the brisket sandwich, serving size very plentiful for the price we paid. This time noticed prices had went up, which I understand most places have had to raise prices. But the amount of brisket we normally get was cut in half, compared to what we were use to getting, the sides had also went up quite a bit. The taste of everything was still great just felt like with prices going up we should have got as much as we normally got, and it wasn't just mine it was everyone in our party. Employees are very friendly and attentive. But one thing I've noticed the last few times we have been is the dining room and bathroom floors are really dirty. Not talking about food on the floor just dirty, like needing a good mopping. Hope the next time we go things will be different. read more

I place an online order at the Hickory, NC location on 2/24/24. When I arrived at the store the manager stated they closed early and did not make my order. I requested a refund and the manager stated I would have to call corporate. I completed the online form requesting a refund on 2/24. I have called 833-326-0606 multiple times and emailed customer service. I just want a refund for food that I paid for and never received. Online ordering is a fraud at Dickey's. 8 days ago, I placed an online order and dickeys offers a 20% discount, it did send me a discount code to my phone, I paid in part with a gift card I had, at the end i still did not see the discount but i didn't dare to back out afraid to lose the funds on the gift card so I paid the remainder. The total of the order was a little over $107. When I arrived to pick my order up, I told the cashier about the problem, her reaction was "I'm sorry but that was the online system I can't help you" After about 5-10min waiting she came to me and said we are short on ribs, can you order something else? So I think short, they have some ribs and want to fill the remainder so I told her just add some wings to it. Not long after that she placed my food on the counter without the wings, leaves it sitting there while the wings are cooking, a good 10-15min pass before those are ready. The drive to my house is less than 5 min, we unpack the food to eat dinner. ALL the food is cold, fries are soggy and greasy and no ribs at all. I waited 2 days to file a complaint with Dickeys, a day later I received an email from them, I will copy and paste it here. Dear xxxxxxxx, Thank you for taking the time to notify us of your experience with Dickey's Barbecue Pit restaurants. We greatly appreciate your feedback. The driver was great, no complaints there. My complaint is the food. I loved Dickey's and ordered the Pit Dip sandwich because I love their riff on a French Dip. What I received was a large bun with 3 pieces of meat (and a small tip), 4 pieces of onion, none of which were caramelized, and absolutely no cheese at all . That is not worth the $17 even with the 2 sides. On the positive side GrubHub did credit me for the sandwich, but that doesn't make up for the disappointment in the meal. read more

I ordered food at 6:30 on their website for takeout. When we arrived at 7 the doors were locked and no one was there. I called the next day asking for a refund but can't get ahold of anyone just a pre recorded message stating their phone was down but leave ur name and number and you will receive a call back. I received no call so I went in person and the cashier stated we are going to through a management change call again tomorrow. Called again no one called back once again. It has been over 2 weeks now with no resolution and no refund! Business hrs are wrong and they don't care about the customer, I will never do business with Dickey's again! read more

I truly wish I could leave a 0 Star Review because of how much of a joke this "business" is. Their hours are inconsistent and not updated on their website. I've drove out of my way countless times on a Saturday afternoon to find them closed with absolutely no indication to why, when the website says it should open and forget about trying to talk to someone on the phone to order or even check if they are open. I haven't had a single person answer any of my calls over the last year. Don't get me wrong, the food is decent enough to go out your way for but absolutely impossible to ever find it open to get the food. In my own experience as an employee, I was a cash payed employee that had to visit the restaurant on Tuesdays to pick up my pay. When going to pick up my pay, I was screamed at to "get the f*** out of the restaurant" and "you're not in charge" by the owner Joe last week when defending myself as he told me I upset his business parter/co-owner/assistant and stir up "sh**" in his restaurant when I questioned why she was splitting tips with employees. She told me she was "in charge" when Joe wasn't there, so with her being considered management, all I said to her is that I have never split tips with an owner/manager. This does not justify being cussed out, and I have never even been yelled at by my own husband or father like that. I had to call the police as I was in fear of my own safety at that point. Working here was a traumatic experience for me, as I was hired for Social Media and Marketing and stepped in to help in the restaurant when he could not keep consistent employees. I was kind to everyone, including customers. I'm a new mom and this was my only time out of my house alone. I hope Dickey's as a company works to resolve the issues at this location, as this was not the first incident like this an employee experienced here. read more

Worst service ever. We placed an order online on the Dickey's website for them to deliver. They didn't get our order right. They left out most of the side items, didn't send the drinks that were ordered, we also request sliced brisket on 3 of the sandwiches and got chopped and burned pieces and no BBQ sauce. It's good for "Fast food" bbq! Loved the Mac & Cheese, the brisket and pulled pork was really good and the sweet bbq sauce was my fav.

The problem with this particular Dickey's location is the volatility. Depending on who's working, you could get some of the best BBQ in the area, or you could be hard pressed to eat anything at all. On several occasions, we've gotten to Dickey's just to have the staff tell us (in as much of a dismissive, impolite tone as they could manage) that they were out of nearly everything on the menu (which is curious for 5:00PM, or the beginning of dinner). Needless to say we made other plans these times. Other times, the staff are fantastic, the menu stocked, the food fresh and delicious. Tender meats, delicious sides, fresh sauce and ice cold tea. Certainly one of the best barbecue options in the Hickory area. I wish I could rate this location more highly, but unfortunately it suffers from its consistency and likely will continue to do so. If you do go, hope you get a good staff. read more

Every time I have placed an order with Grubhub, there is a problem. Even today, I talked to them, they said everything they should have in stock. Surprise, poor Grubhub lady calls me and said they are out of chicken and ribs. This was the last straw. This is the 3rd time it has happened. The last time we ordered same issue. Worst Dickeys I've been to. Ribs burnt to wear I couldn't chew them. Hush puppies burnt as well. Brisket was half burnt half ok. The two girls working weren't the most pleasant either. Host I.D. on ticket says 1027. I've been in dickey's all over the Midwest and South and this is the first negative thing I've had to say. On the plus side....they have coke zero on tap. read more

Family Night Dinner We went to Dickeys last night for dinner. We loved that place when it came to NC. We are from Texas and that was closet to home BBQ we could get. We even had them cater our Anniversary dinner. Anyway, Last night we went there and were a bit disappointed. The restaurant seemed a bit run down and dirty. The food was good...but not happy with dinning area. Also, I wish they would put out an area where you can get you own onions, pickles and jalapenos. I feel really bad writing a 3 star review because the store staff was really nice, but regardless it was the worst bbq I had in the entire year so I am giving it a low rating. We got a combination platter that had pork ribs and brisket. I am curious as to how this place has such a high rating. I am sorry to say, but that was probably the worst and driest beef brisket I had in my life or at least in the last 10 years. A moment after we had a bite, we could see a huge disappointment in our eyes, and thought to ourselves why did we order a platter. Although we were starving, we ended up throwing out most of it. Pork ribs were also mediocre and I really don't think that it was wood smoked bbq. I truly believe that I could have made better bbq with my air fryer than what I had at Dickey's. I had never been to NC, so maybe my expectation of bbq in was a little too high and it was disappointing that we could not find a high rating NC style bbq place. Dickey's was the highest rated one in the area. Again, Dickey's is a Texas bbq chain, but I think we were really unfortunate that our trip to NC was a very short one, and we didn't get to try out truly authentic NC style bbq while staying there. After a very long day of furniture shopping NC, I was beat...and I wanted some good BBQ. I pulled my yelp app to look for highly rated BBQ restaurants in the area and I found Dickey's. I knew that this was not a highly rated BBQ restaurant, nor was it located in a BBQ hub like Lexington. That being said, I was cautiously optimistic .....but I was very disappointed. It hurts me to give a substandard review especially since we received a very nice and welcoming service from restaurant staff. That being said, I really really thought the BBQ was substandard. We ordered a combination platter that had the briskets and the pork ribs. While the pork ribs were at least edible, the brisket was so tough that we could only finish a fifth of what we got before we were forced to throw it away. This says a lot especially since we have not eaten anything the entire day and walked over 12 hours. My hungry stomach still wasn't enough to convince me to eat the food. Before I went here, I was warned by Fred B (one of the top yelp reviewers for BBQ in NC) that this area is devoid of any BBQ joints. While I wanted to listen to him, I really had no options to eat in the area other than national chain restaurants. If you decide to go shopping in Hickory, I strongly suggest you eat outside of the area if that's possible. read more

Jumped into the car with my friend and didn't know where to go eat. We literally drove for 10 minutes, trying to decide where we should eat. We were on LR Blvd and I realized we haven't eaten at Dickey's BBQ Pit in a very long time. Suddenly, I was craving BBQ. We walked inside the small restaurant and were greeted by a very cheerful man. I walked to the ordering window and I ordered the 1 meat plate (pulled pork). The cheerful man immediately asked if I wanted hushpuppies and I said yes. I mean, who can ever pass up hushpuppies? My two sides that came with the meat plate was macaroni and cheese and the potato salad. I went to the next window to pay for my meal. It was about $13 altogether. It was slightly expensive for a lunch, in all honesty. I grabbed the sauce that Dickey's provides with the BBQ and went to go sit at a table. Many of the tables were not clean so we ended up sitting at a small table near the bathroom. The seating could be a lot better, but it's a fairly small place. I should've taken a picture, but I was really hungry. The pulled pork was great with the sauce. It was very juicy even without the sauce, which is a plus. The hushpuppies were delish. The macaroni and cheese was the bomb. The potato salad was not something I enjoyed particularly eating. It didn't really have a great taste. The free ice cream was a nice touch. Overall, it was great food. It just needs clean-up and better seating. :-) ...I just want macaroni and cheese now. read more

My friend introduced me to this place while I was visiting from Florida in August 2017 (I know I'm late in writing this review). I'll be completely honest with ya'll...I remember that I liked the food, but something has to be said about what you remember about a place. I gave the restaurant 3 stars because what I remember about visiting Dickey's wasn't the food, it was the SAUCE that drove me wild. At that point, I'd never had BBQ sauce that was served in a warmer-it was divine. I don't even remember what I ordered but I remember that the sauce was thin, a little spicy, a little sweet, and I tore it up.
