We always stop here at least once during our visits back to my old hometown. Service and staff are always friendly, especially Steve. Warm and inviting. Only giving a 4 because sometimes the food is hit or miss. Maybe it's the pig's fault? Anyway, I'll always come back because Steve makes you feel like he TRULY appreciates your visit. read more

I would like to consider myself a BBQ aficionado. While I hail from Columbus, Ohio, I have sampled tasty treats from Kansas City, Oahu, Omaha, Austin, Dallas, and Memphis and little known villes in North and South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Low and slow is the way I like to go. With that said when I went to Dickey's everything but the meat was the star of show. Great fresh waffle fries, awesome green beans with bacon, tasty baked beans, and a unique Baked Potato Casserole. Really loved the taste of the green beans. Free ice cream cones were a nice treat. The coke machine that turned out unlimited flavor combinations offers something for everyone. I give this portion of the meal a strong four. We got two, three meat platters so I had a sampling of their pulled pork, sliced beef brisket, sliced turkey, sliced chicken, and ribs. Of the five, I enjoyed the pulled pork as it was sitting in juice and was moist and tender. The rest of our meats were dry and somewhat tough. They were all held in a warmer and I really have to ask how long they were in the warmer and why are they not washing, basting, or soaking them in their juices to keep them moist. Wrapping up portions in the saran wrap is not the way to go. The rolls were somewhat dry, chewey and perhaps a little stale. I give this portion of the meal a low two with the pork saving it from being a potential one. The parking lot, restrooms, and dining room were clean and tidy. The employees were friendly, greeted, said thank you, and seemed to be working hard behind the counter and keeping up with the dining room. The location is easily accesible to the west of I-69 on route 12. I am willing to go back and hope I caught them on a bad day with the meat. If you own a BBQ joint, the meat must be the star of the show. Anything less than your best should be as disappointing to the employees as it is to your customers. The better you do, the better your business will be and the easier it will be to sell. read more

Called in a takeout order. Was clear and patient with giving order. Told it would be 45 min for wait. No problem, gave an extra 10 before I went to pick up. They had my contact info......55 min later when I arrive I was informed that they were out of wings and forgot before they took my order....In the 55 min before I show up to pick up order was I contacted? Nope. Just when I arrive and told it would be an addition 20 min for any replacement. Green beans were half full on a medium sized order with water full to the top. Forgot the dipping sauces for the brisket and the 1lb of brisket order was 8 oz of fat. read more

Walking up to the restaurant the dumpsters are overflowing and the bathroom hallway floors were sticky and had flies. I really wanted to like this place and the fun concept. The side choices were great and the combinations were easy to understand. Unfortunately the tables and benches needed to be wiped down and the food was disappointing. We ordered mac and cheese, green beans, baked potato casserole, onion tangles, potato salad and pork sandwich. There was nothing we would come back for, and we threw a bunch away which is rare for us. Hope they can clean it up a bit and have good success in the future. read more

The place was very clean. The manger was very professional. I've tried to stop a few times at a Dickies in the Northeast. They always seem to be going out of business. This location, I'm told has been open 5 years. My best guess is no one in the Coldwater area knows what BBQ is supposed to taste like. I ordered the brisket first. It had a hint of tuna smell to it, much like Hardee's roast beef sandwiches did before they rebranded. The meat is flavorless and has a moist bubble gum texture. The BBQ sauce was hidden behind the ice cream machine. The pulled pork was even worse. It was a pile of mush and again flavorless. Mac and cheese was average as were the beans. The ice cream was good and free! The pop machine was nice. I think someone who knew something about BBQ could make a killing up here. read more

Food is good. Was disappointed that they don't have greens on the menu. My opinion is that BBQ places need collards greens. Service is very good and again food quality and portions are good. read more

Extremely disappointed. There was only one employee working both the counter and grill. Even though we arrived at 4:15, and there was only one customer in front of us, we needed to wait 20 minutes to place our order. Many of the side dishes on the menu were not available. Once our food eventually was completed, it was cold and unsatisfactory. Avoid this restaurant and go somewhere better if you want a good meal with a pleasurable dining experience. read more

Service is horrible. We placed a to go order through the app. Which means they had a printout to work from. Family XL meal - 1 pound chicken, 1 pound pork, sides - Mac and cheese, fried okra, baked potato casserole. 6 rolls. And added an extra order of brisket 1/2 pound. Not even closed to what we got. Two rolls that had been grilled and were black and charred. A Cesar salad. They were out of chicken, ok no big deal. We approved substitution of turkey. All the meat had big chunks of hard charred burnt pieces. Some mystery container that I thought was Mac and cheese. It wasn't. Not sure what it was. Maybe cheesy potatoes? We did get the actual sides we ordered. Meat portions were all over the place. While we were waiting for food to be ready, the had music on fairly loud. And football with the volume screeching. On top of the kids running loose screaming, I wanted to gouge my ears out. We used to love this place under the old management. We won't be going back. read more

we Ordered a catering package They cancelled the scheduled day and when they did bring us food they were late and food was cold and sucked!

When we had arrived we went inside which has a sign say that they require a mask be worn, and two out of the three employees didn't even have one on while preparing the food. then we had to wait over five minutes for our order to be taken which is understandable if they are super busy but they where not. Then when we sat down to eat the food our pulled pork meal still had bones inside of it, it wasn't in one or two little pieces but there was a bunch of little pieces scattered around in the meet. As well as while we where sitting there we noticed bugs crawling all around on of there window seals. This was not a great experience for my family and I and we can for out a doubt not going to be coming back to this establishment. read more

So sad to say. But this place is disgusting now. The entire time my girlfriend and I were waiting on our food, which took around 20 minutes, the manager was in the back screaming at what we assumed to be a football game or something. The lady working up front laughed it off like it was normal. The chicken nuggets we ordered were wet and mushy. The bun I ordered was handled by the lady with no gloves and unwashed hands, then she set it on the unwashed counter. The chicken I ordered was cold and was drenched in sauce. I also got a small cup of sauce on the side and she must have not gotten the lid on tight because it opened up in our bag and got everywhere. She also forgot the roll that came with our meals. And their drink machine was down and I think has been down for months according to other reviews. And most of all it was so expensive. It was $30 for some cold meat, 7 wet chicken nuggets, and two cups of mac and cheese that are so small you only get like 2 bites. Oh I also got burnt fries that I didn't even touch. Will never return unless some real change happens. Which I hope does happen. read more

Stopped here on a long drive interstate. We were starving and I'm also casing out places to cater our wedding in October, this place was great. The catering has nice options, and the samples were a great variety. The service could have been alot more welcoming, seems there was a little tension behind the bar. The food was AMAZING, and they definitely have the best W.A.B (Wet ass brisket) read more

I would not come here again, the whole place feels dirty and neglected and the food wasn't worth it at all. They were understaffed and out of baked potatoes. The one worker making food said he could put brisket and toppings on mashed potatoes instead, saying it would be "almost exactly the same". I'm agreeable so I said sure, and was then given a dirty tray with the greasiest, saltiest brisket I've ever had, slopped onto a pile of a bland, watery instant mashed potatoes. That and a can of coke set me back almost $18. I ate about half and threw the rest away to avoid a stomach ache. The coke was the only thing that tasted right. read more

Excellent brisket! I love that they serve the bbq sauce hot. The westerner was huge. So many choices! We will definitely be back!

Great food terrible service and dirty on the inside. Surprised that they are letting this go downhill so fast. They just reopened under new management. Took 15 min to make order. After 12:00 and nothing ready. Absolutely no urgency at all on the part of the employee. No way I have time to get food from here for lunch. Kinda sad. read more

We stopped at the Coldwater Michigan location today. There were 2 people working. 2 young men ahead of us and 3 already served. We ordered wings. The 2 men ahead of us got their order, and the one behind us got his order and we were still waiting. There was no toilet paper or paper toweling in the mens or women's bathrooms. We got our wings but the side orders were wrong. We had already been there over half an hour so no I don't want to wait for anything else. And the wings? They were so salty we couldn't eat them. We brought the wings home, rinsed them off and drenched them in BBQ sauce. At least then they were edible. The tables hadn't been wiped, and there were no extra paper towels handy. Even with a coke dispenser, they were serving canned soda. No. We won't be back. read more

It's such a bummer when you see a place go downhill the way dickeys has. This used to be one of my favorite stops in coldwater, now it is disorganized and the quality of food has decreased tremendously. When you charge a premium price like dickeys does you have to deliver with quality as you can see from the photos I paid $3.50 per side, got no chives or cheese on my potato casserole, got half orders on everything and the fries were more like a quarter of a order and were saturated in grease and soggy. I had to repeat my order many times to the staff and they were out of a few menu items. I know the management has changed but it's been months since that happened and you can tell whoever is running the place doesn't care about the details, from a messy counter top to open beers in the office clearly visible to the customer. Overall it was a uncomfortable and irritating experience and I will not be returning. read more

Stopped here on the way back to Ohio from Grand Rapids I ordered the 3 meat plate brisket ,pulled pork and kielbasa With potato salad & green beans ,when the man behind the counter Cut off a chunk of brisket he then took a cleaver & turned it into pulled Pork style yuck! I'm used to having it sliced was not given the option Flavor was ok,pulled pork was decent had nice bark to it ,the kielbasa Was really good nice and smoky, green beans were awful ,potato salad was edible after 3 packs of black pepper.overall was just ok,not the worst Q I've had but no where near the best either. read more

Stopped in while on business and went with the 3 meat platter, I chose turkey, and two orders of brisket. I enjoyed both meats very much, even without sauce. The cafeteria style setup for barbecue is unique to me, but didn't deter me from enjoying my meal. For sides I went with the creamed spinach and waffle fries. The creamed spinach was amazing! Overall the meal was great and left me stuffed. The free soft serve vanilla ice cream, which I used to fill in all the cracks after gorging myself, is a nice touch. UPDATE: Unfortunately I am needing to downgrade my review. While the food still tastes great, my last visit was quite a shock. Not only were they out of beef brisket and spicy sauce(at 6pm), but the menu had changed (no more meat platters) and as a result the prices had gone up. The meal that used to cost $18 was now $24, because everything had to be ordered separately, including the sides. I understand that prices go up over time, but when you have menu that is doing well why would you swap it out? Time will tell if the swap to a sandwich based BBQ joint will work for them, but for me it doesn't work. read more

Beware yelpers that the menu ordering/pricing changes now mean that everything is a la carte. I ordered what Is ordered before a 3 meat platter and 2 sides for 12 bucks---or so I thought. My lunch partner had a single meat platter. The bill reached 25 bucks---see photo attached. When I mentioned to the discrepancy to the server she brushed it off with a "well, that's corporate for you. Don't even have Internet so I dunno." No offer to charge us the earlier prices. OK. Onward. My brisket and ribs were room temp. The meats being cut in front of me all wound up on a fat encrusted scale then onto my tray. Ugh. Two cold meats, a high tab, and no customer service. Looks like the Dickies I earlier enjoyed has receded into the culinary wasteland of the town that surrounds it. Head down the block to Applebee's. Would give negative stars if I could. read more

What in the absolute F&$@. Walked in to order. Once we ordered the women behind the counter started to prepare the food. During that time she coughed twice. No face mask, didn't even try to cover her mouth. Can't comment on the food, because we literally turned around and walked out. This would have even been gross prior to COVID. I'm still disgusted by this blatant display of terrible customer service. read more

Brisket was great !!! And the staff was super friendly! Thanks Dickeys Coldwater . This place does it right . I'll be back for sure .

The customer service gets 5 stars for sure! They greet you with a smile and a group "Welcome to Dickeys'!" I don't eat too much barbecue, but my grandparents LOVE this place! I can tell you for sure, the chicken caesar salad is awesome (especially if you're a cheese lover like me!), as well as the deliciously seasoned waffle fries! The price is right and did I mention you get FREE ICE CREAM with your purchase? It's self serve, right next to the sweet tea! YUM! I'm a huge fan of macaroni and cheese, so I was delighted to find that you can add any side to your meal. My sister and I both finished our mac and cheese first! They also cater! This would be fantastic for a family reunion or graduation open house! If you want barbecue for a great price and friendly environment, Dickey's is the place to go! read more

I'm only giving them 3 stars for the simple fact is the amount of food you get for the price you pay... their BBQ is good, it's Not slap your momma take my money good, but good. Great food and friendly people! Had the brisket plate with Mac and cheese and waffle fries. It was all fantastic!

I stopped by for lunch with a co-worker and it had to be one of my worst experiences ever! Sorry this is a little long. There was a family of 6 (2 adults/4 children) and one person by herself in front of us and we waited in line for at least 10-15 minutes just to place our order. I'm not saying the person waiting on me was rude but he wasn't overly friendly either which intimidated me a little because this was my first time here and I really didn't know what I wanted. I finally just point to the lunch special on the wall and say I'll take that. He prepares my very small pork sandwich, slides it down the counter to sit in limbo while the one person, one register is checking out the family of 6, then she has to check out the lady in front of me. Your not just paying at this point, you are also ordering your sides and she has to go get them. Skip back to the part where I stated I was behind a family of 6 so you know I'm getting a little annoyed, not at the family, at the process and the amount of time I've been waiting. Finally the lady in front of me is being taken care of, I'm next and I feel like I just hit the lotto. While I'm standing there the guy from the family of 6 returns with a tray of food he received that he didn't order. Yep you guessed it, it was mine! So now it's my turn and the guy behind the counter askes me what I ordered, I tell him and he reaches for the tray. Now I believe this guy is the owner of this location, but I'm not sure? If not he's management. I look at him and say "I don't want that, it's been returned." He just looks at me like huh? So I say it again and add "I'm not taking that" he just looks at me and I said "I don't want it" and walked away. This guy didn't say I'm sorry or can I get you another one, nothing. He just waited on the guy behind me like this was every day stuff and he was used to upset customers. The guy behind me was the guy I came with so I got to sit there and watch him eat. I sat at one of their tables for another 20 minutes watching my co-worker eat and not one person came over and apologized or offered me something else. Note: my co-worker wasn't impressed with his order. Just want to thank them for ruining my lunch hour and I'll never be back! read more

Great spot for some decent BBQ, it's a bit expensive for the quality of meat and how much meat you get. It's also not incredibly hot/warm.
