It's been a few years so I decided to give this place another try. Arrived at 11:40 am and was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. I was seated immediately and my waitress came with the menu. She took my drink order and explained the beer sizes. After the waitress delivered my beer I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla. I waited around 10 minutes and my food was delivered. It looked delicious and it was! The waitress came to check a few times on how I was doing and if I needed another beer. One is fine, thank you. The tall beer and Chicken Quesadilla came to $19.07. I was in and out within 20-25. Service and food were excellent! I also really like what they did with the inside décor. There were tons of pictures of places around Coldwater. Even old antique ones. There were also pictures of the local sports teams. I thought it was pretty neat. read more

Arrived at 4:30 pm on a Friday and there were about six (6) tables occupied and several patrons at the bar with food items. Was eventually seated, place our order and I ordered a half Rack of Baby back ribs with fries. I asked for a light coat of the sauce to be applied to the order of ribs. All food items ordered arrived, I cut the rack of ribs into segments and when taking a bite of the first (1st) rib in from the end it was only warm at best. the fries were also just warm as was the plate. I chased down the managerial staff and explained along with showing them my dilemma. They said that they would replace it with whatever was my choice. Since I was there for RIBS, I asked for them again. What was presented was all hot, less amount of ribs with the coating being more like a floury coating than a barbecue sauce. The french fries had a lot of pepper on them also. Our waitress liked to carry on a long conversation a lot with a couple of the customers present before us and those who arrived after us, thus may be causing the order food to sit in the kitchen prior to being delivered to the customer. read more

I am not sure why the reviews are so low on this Applebees. We have had great service and the food has been good. It is one of the better Applebees I have been to. We travel full time and eat out often so I believe the rating should be higher. Bartender Jayce has been wonderful. read more

Hot food was hot, salads were cold. Our server was pleasant and quick. Very accommodating and polite. Although it was quite busy, we were seated within 10 minutes of our arrival. We were able to leave the restaurant within an hour. read more

In Coldwater for a month on business, I gave this Applebees 2 separate tries. My first order was their salmon, and as you can see in the pics, the portion that I got didn't remotely resemble the menu pic. It would probably be sufficient for a 10 year old. Furthermore, it was quite overcooked. Trying to put that experience behind me, I tried again today with an 8oz sirloin medium rare. I get that it's Applebee's and I wasn't expecting a Ruth Chris steak, but does the pic even look edible?! I will add that on both occasions, the girls working mobile pickup were prompt and pleasant, but if the food isn't even close to being acceptable, what's the point in good service. Will definitely have to explore other options for my takeout needs moving forward. read more

I originally was going to give this a 2 star for food quality and cleanliness, however the waitress resolved some of our issues. 1- my husband ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and the waitress misunderstood him and brought the wrong sandwich. He informed her and she apologized and brought him his correct food. 2- I ordered the brisket tacos that I have had before at a different location and enjoyed. This time they were cold, messy, and just overall not good. I didn't say anything though because I felt bad so i just ate my onion rings. The waitress noticed and asked if i did not like them and I said sorry I do not. She talked with the manager and when she came with the bill the removed my meal for the inconveniences. That was nice I suppose but we we not from the area and really have no reason to go back to this one specifically. Try a different spot. read more

It was my first visit to the Coldwater Applebee's, and we visited that location because the one in my town is not very tasty or friendly. The food was absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! Actually witnessed a not so "polite" woman and the manager on duty or general manager. I believe her name was Jill... The woman was literally yelling at the hostess about another guests parking job. I've worked in the restaurant business for 13yrs and I've never witnessed a boss being so calm and professional!! Kudos!! We will definitely be back and word of mouth goes a very long ways! This place is a joke. The staff don't seem to care about their customers at all. We walked in and sat in the bar area and waited 25 minutes with no one coming to help us. This Apple bees is very inconsistent. Couple months back they were doing fine and the food was pretty good. But then I order online and did the pickup method. I waited over 30 minutes after saying I was there. I called couple times and finally someone picked up and said I had to come in side to pick it up. They said it's been ready for the last 25 minutes. After that I have gone inside a few times and the food just doesn't taste that great anymore. It taste old and has no effort into it. They used to be a decent place to eat but they keep going downhill. read more

We're in town visiting. Ordered lunch for pick-up, so this is about that experience. My wife placed the order online, and they gave us a pick-up time. My wife also called to confirm a side order, so it seemed they knew about the order. It was close by, so it was easy to arrive at the pick up time. When I arrived and described the order, they recognized it, but the lady came back out to let me know that the order had not been released to the kitchen. So I settled in to wait, watching some Big Ten softball tournament action. They asked if I wanted a drink while I waited, so I had some water. The check came, I paid, and the meals came with the change. Now having to wait 15 minutes is not a serious issue. That said, when an establishment gives a pick up time, but that turns out to be the time they start the food because you've arrived, I might suggest a gesture of contrition. The tiniest offering would have put it out of my mind completely. As it is, any (unlikely) future online orders for pick up at Applebee's is going to come with a follow up call to the restaurant to confirm the food is actually being prepared, not just on their order screen. My wife polished off her salad, my daughter really enjoyed her burger, and my tacos are good. All the sides were correct. It's fortunate, though, that we're at a hotel where we could get forks to eat with, since the restaurant didn't include any. That seemed odd. We did get an online order discount since my wife registered online, but I doubt she'll give much attention to email from Applebee's. read more

Not very impressed with this visit. We reserved a table through Yelp, but apparently, it never got to them even though I did get a confirmation text. They did seat us right away. Our table was sticky, even after it was scrubbed. My guess is that the tables need to be refinished. Our server, Christy, was excellent! There was another server that seemed to be too busy to wait on her tables, as she spent most of our time there talking to customers at another table (my guess is that they were friends). We rarely saw her waiting on tables. If this location is short-staffed, she should not have been visiting. Christy was doing her best to keep up. She couldn't - but that's not her fault though. The food was very good and delivered hot to our table. There was a minor mix-up with the pricing. We ordered off of the 2 for $30. It was not entered properly, but the manager did an excellent job of fixing that problem. This location has come a long way from the horrible service and wrong orders from a couple of years ago. The Wife and I visited early as usual to beat the masses. The only thing we don't like at this eatery is the noise. This is a widespread chain across the U.S. And we have visited several over the years. This one is the best in our judgement. We started the early evening with tall top shelf adult beverage then moved on to boneless chicken wings, French onion soup and a wedge salad. We had dessert which is unusual for us. We tried churro s'mores !! A chocolate concoction which was recommended by our wait person. She was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. read more

Service used to be shaky in the pre-COVID world. Last night was a total mess. We ordered online. Received confirmation that the order was received. Paid online. Said it would be ready in 15 minutes. When my husband got there, they didn't have the order. He waited over an hour for the food. There were other angry customers in the parking lot. Will never order from there again. read more

This has got to be one of the worst places for service I've ever been to! Took my daughter and grandchildren here for late lunch. The restaurant wasn't too busy, only half full with no line. We were seated immediately but after 18 minutes still had no waitress even take a drink order. During that time waiting we watched others come in after us, be seated and had their drink orders taken within 10 minutes! I have a confession to make. Applebee's is my favorite chain sit-down restaurant. It may be mediocre, but it's CONSISTENTLY mediocre, which is better than many a terrible experience I've had at a Friday's or Chili's. My parents have a house near Jackson, Michigan, and I live in Chicago, so the Applebee's in Coldwater is a convenient lunch spot on my way home. Pros - My fiancee and I usually get the two-for-$20 special. That's two just-OK (but never bad!) entrees and one appetizer for $20. Since I live in Chicago, just writing those words blows my mind. That's a crazy deal. - The service is usually pretty good at this location. Everyone is always very nice, and we're typically seated promptly. - It's right off of I-69, making the location super convenient. Cons - Well, it's Applebee's. It's never going to be GREAT. It's kind of like the seventh man on a basketball team. He's going to give you his minutes, and some nights he's going to get 2 points and some nights he'll get 12. But he's never going to take over the ballgame, and you sure as hell aren't going to give him the last shot in a tie game for the state championship. - Like most suburban chain restaurants, Applebee's suffers from the "no blank wall space" decorating style. Seriously, just a couple pictures would be nice. We don't need a poster of Taylor Swift, a Buick hubcap, and a stuffed fish. If you're traveling through Michigan, and you're in the mood for an affordable meal that isn't fast food, this Applebee's is a darn good option. If you're not traveling through Michigan, you should consider it; it's a beautiful state. read more
