As they say, a good mechanic is worth their weight in gold. Dickerson automotive is certainly a great mechanic. But I appreciate most about Dickerson is their transparency and their prompt communication. After performing work on your vehicle, they will reach out and make sure that everything is still going OK and that you were happy with their service. While they are working on your vehicle, they will stay in frequent contact with you and send you a report on what they found before you pick the car up so you know what to expect. I have found their prices to be very fair, and they have even suggested at times that I get my work done that I needed through insurance as it would probably be cheaper for me, and I appreciate their honesty. I took an older Honda that was overheating they replaced the radiator without checking the engine for damage. After they replaced the radiator It still overheated I took it to another mechanic and they tested the engine first and it was bad. Will never go back. read more

The whole experience- 3 separate occasions with my Toyota, Tundra, 2008, 4x4. Start from the bottom for chronological order. *Believe me Dickerson's Automotive, that this review will help you tremendously. I'm just not the customer that had the type of work that you liked doing. 2/16/2022- DICKERSON=In the ship for transmission issues. Receive a checklist of little maintenance tire shop inspections. Then a call saying that they believe the transmission is internally damaged. Willing to replace the whole transmission, but not anything internal. Quote=$5,800.00 for a rebuilt transmission. ME (not believing my transmission is Toast). Remove transmission oil pan, and replace a $86.00 part. Transmission is working perfect, even though I didn't know that's all it needed. 1.5 percent the cost to fix!!! 7/20/2021-DICKERSON= Looking into my 4wd not engaging. Access the transfer case 4x4 motor (that was replaced last year(4-5 hour job)), take a look, and after not seeing a problem put it back together. Tell me I'll need the other 4wd actuator, on the transfer case. ME- (not having for money for the new part, decided to leave it). On my extra time, fiddled with my actuator. Timed the high/low 4wd engaging gear and it works perfect... not joking!! 9/12/2019-DICKERSON=Only replace the 4wd actuator motor, and it works great! ME- Call Dickerson to see if they can do anything for my truck, after calling 3 other places. Whoever the guy was that answered the phone was the best. He educated me on the possibilities, and no one else that I called even sounded like they were a repair shop. The truck just won't move. Acts like it's always in neutral, and tries rolling away after only turning the key on...SCARY! *My first experience was awesome. The only repair that worked out regretfully. I truly appreciated the person that I was talking to in the office. This is when I needed them most, and they helped me greatly. Conclusion- Dickerson's has too many customers and only wants the easy work. Have a serious problem? I only have a 33% chance of repair. 2019 they had time to look at the ACTUAL problem. 2022 they are only into simple diagnostics. So yes Dickersons, I'm sending customers that you don't want like me away now. You can have plenty of all of those tire shop repairs. read more

I haven't posted many reviews but after various visits for maintenance on 4+ cars I feel they deserve a post for there outstanding service and value. We all interact with various businesses in our day to day activities, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better managed business big or small in any industry. Excellent mechanic shop. Friendly service, did our oil changes on both vehicles, and let me know what services we should consider doing in the future as well. Really appreciated they have toys in their lobby area to keep my very active toddler happy while we waited, along with fruit snacks and juice boxes! The only reason we won't be using them any more is because we've moved up to North Salt Lake City, though I did consider making the drive down because I feel like they are so honest. read more

My wife and I were driving last friday for a long weekend. As we were about 20 miles outside of Spanish Fork on the way up Soldier Summit, a loud noise started from under our car. It clearly sounded like some kind of muffler problem and it kept getting worse. We turned around and headed back towards Spanish Fork. We found Dickerson online and decided to go there. The person behind the counter could not have been nicer. Usually when I go into a mechanic, I get an attitude, they talk down to me. Not here. They were busy and said they could at least get the car on the lift right away to see what was wrong. Turned out to be loose bolts on the exhaust and they tightened them up, we were on our way. No attitude, great service and were willing to help at a moments notice for two travelers that clearly weren't from that area. I live in another town about an hour away in Utah but would be willing to take my car back to this garage anytime. read more

Amazing service. Today I pulled into Dickerson Automotive unannounced, needing my brake light fixed, while traveling between two appointments. Within 15 minutes they replaced the tail light and I was ready to go! I am very thankful for their service today and especially when they only charged me for the bulb itself. No body is perfect, and I do not expect perfection, but I will say I am happier with Dickerson that I was with our other shop in the area. My daughters car split a radiator hose. She took it to the other shop and they wanted $5000 for a new engine because they said it blew the head gasket and burned up the piston rings. We brought her another vehicle and were just going to junk the car, it had 220k on it after all. But then the other shop told us the second car had a radiator leak after doing an oil change. This threw up flags so we brought it to Dickerson for a second opinion. After cleaning up the mess from the leaking oil filter the other shop installed, they found nothing. We decided to bring the other car in. Yup it had a radiator hose leak, but once it was fixed, they couldn't find anything else wrong with it. A couple hundred is way better than the several thousand at the other shop. I will update as time goes on, but right now, they get all my stars..... read more

Fantastic service! I took my friend to pick up her car and had a question for them about my own, they said they would be more than happy to check it out right then and there even though it was on a complete whim! Just a few minutes later, literally minutes, they were done with my car and they said the adjustment was so minimal I didn't need to worry about any kind of charge. The staff is so incredibly friendly, the service is quick and timely, and the overall experience was just delightful. Below is a letter I wrote on 9-2 concerning my history and experience with Dickerson Automotive. After sending the letter I received a response back from Todd Dickerson accusing me of Slandering their reputation. Here is my reply: Thought I'd run your email past a friend of my who also happens to be an attorney. After reading the letter I sent out and watching the video I have he couldn't believe that you would send me an email with the subject heading Subject: Slandering of our reputation My attorney assured me that I have every right as a customer to share my experience with anyone I please regarding my dealings with Dickerson Automotive. He even indicated that not only was my letter honest in what I perceived happened to me but that the tone was positive and not written in an attacking manner. The word Slandering means: the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation. Friday, September 2, 2016 I would like to take the opportunity to share my experience I have had with Dickerson Automotive. I have taken my cars to Dickerson for the past several years. I felt I was paying a little more for their service than I could have found at another automotive repair shop but I liked the people I worked with at Dickerson and the vehicle was always finished when they said it would be. A few years ago I spent over $3,000 on my 2002 Acura RL at Dickerson Automotive. The car had reached 100,000 miles so I had the recommended service done like replacing the timing belt and water pump and I also put new tires on. The parts and labor were under warranty and I planned on giving my daughter the car to get through collage so I thought the repairs and new tires were worth the investment in that type of car. To make a long story short my daughter called and said the Acura had stalled at a light and she needed other drivers to push the car to the side of the road. There was a Jiffy Lube right there who looked at the car and told my daughter she needed a new battery. We bought the battery and while driving it home the car started smoking from under the hood. I work with a friend who is an auto mechanic so I asked him to take a look at the car. Turns out the radiator was shot. My friend advised me that we could put a new radiator in but he could not tell me if further damage had been done to the engine. I had him put in a new radiator and thermostat. We tested the car and found it still leaked fluid. My friend said the next thing to look at would be the water pump. I told my friend that Dickerson had serviced the car at the 100,000 mile range and had put a new water pump in. The car to date has 116,000 miles. My friend suggested I take the car to Dickerson and have them look at it. Here is the part of the story that prompted me to even write this. I call Craig at Dickerson Automotive and told him I needed to drop the car off because I thought the water pump had a leak. The follow morning Craig from Dickerson Automotive calls me and tells me the problem is the thermostat. Craig said it was leaking and for $175.00 they could fix that. I told Craig that I just had a new thermostat put in. He told me to come by and he would show me the leak. I ran over to Dickerson and Craig walked me out to my car. He put a pump on the engine and told me to look at the thermostat and I would see it leak. Well it never did leak. Craig said it must be too low on fluid and that is why I couldn't see it leak. They put some fluid in my radiator and off I went to my mechanic friend who put my new radiator and thermostat in. He was shocked to hear that I was told the thermostat leaked so we both looked at it together. We filled the car full of fluid and there was leak but not from the thermostat. It was coming directly from the water pump that Dickerson Automotive put in. We even let the car cool down and pulled the hose off the new radiator. You could see the fluid coming out of the water pump. I even took a video on my phone as proof. I ended up running the car back to Dickerson Automotive. The problem was the water pump, it was a part under warranty and they did fix it only after trying to get me to pay $175.00 dollars to fix a thermostat that wasn't even broken. (Find out the truth behind the promise) Bottom line: Had Dickerson Automotive been honest at the beginning and told me that it was a part they had put in and that it was under warranty I would probably still be a customer today. The reality is they tried to make me think it was a faulty thermostat because they didn't know I had just had it replaced. Then they tried to show me that the thermostat was broken but that didn't work. They couldn't show me the thermostat leaking. They wanted me to pay $175.00 out of my pocket to cover some of the cost of repairing a problem that I had already paid good money for to get a warrantee through Dickerson Automotive. This is the only place we take out cars for the last 14 years. Their honesty is unsurpassed. I had taken my car somewhere else and was charged $600 for something that only cost $40. Dickerson's are timely in their repairs and even have a lounge to wait in. They let you know what is going to be fixed and how much it will cost. I have loved going to Dickerson Automotive. They have taken great care of myself, my family and friends. There is no one else I would recommend for working on your car or truck. When my wife's van broke down a she limped it into their parking lot just to have a hose blow on the radiator. They all raced out of the shop to get my 4 girls out of the van and to help anyway they could. I would definitely not recommend. They told me I needed thousands of dollars in repairs. When I took it to another shop before spending all that money, I was told that my car needed a few minor things, but not the large items Dickerson said I needed. It pays to shop around. We moved to Spanish Fork a couple of years ago and, to make a long story short, settled on Dickerson Auto as our go-to repair shop. However, our last experience has left us wondering if we've made a mistake and need to shop around again. A warning light came on in our daughter's car and a mechanic near her said it was a transmission problem. We, of course, thought that Dickerson could look into it for us and give us a good deal on the repairs. We were shocked not only with an outrageous quote on the transmission, but with the claim that 3 of the 4 wheels (not tires, but the actual wheels) were damaged and needed to be replaced adding hundreds of dollars to the quote. We have since had the wheels checked at two different tire shops and there is not one thing wrong with them. We also have a second quote on the transmission for substantially less (more than $1,000 less) than their quote. All of this has left me believing that they were just trying to scam us and are not the reputable, honest shop we thought they were. We will be taking all of our future auto repair business somewhere else. read more
