First off all, WOW! The massive collection of board games, Warhammer and D&D miniatures was incredible; the biggest collection i have seen in a collectors shop. I picked up 6 miniatures packs (12 characters) for a super low price of only $35. The manager gave me a military discount and was excited to tell me about some of his favorite games. My husband and I came into town for a few days and randomly found this shop. It is an awesome shop with tons of tabletop game options and more. Met the owner, Tuan. Super cool and knowledgeable guy. Absolutely one of the best hobby stores I've ever visited. The store is clean, super organized, and easy to browse. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and genuinely helpful without being pushy. Out of all the game stores in Orange County I've visited, Dice House Games is undoubtedly the best one by miles. As a DM for D&D and (thanks to this store) newly a Warhammer player, I can speak to the fact that this store's selection for both games surpasses in quality, quantity, and presentation most other game stores in the area. Their restocks are frequent(seemingly weekly) and always introduce new product, which makes the trip there a no brainer if you live in the area and worth the time if you live farther. The owner is friendly, knowledgeable about his stuff, and truly embodies the vibe of a FLGS -- top notch customer service, a welcoming environment, giving advice where needed and genuinely caring about the quality of your experience with whatever hobby you choose without being pushy. The selection is amazing, and I always look forward to coming here purely because of the amount of quality product. Miniatures of all scale and need are neatly stocked on racks that appeal well to the eye, and they're not afraid to try new product styles. I've always been intrigued about D&D prepainted booster boxes online, but typically the ones I find at other stores are older or more beat up, but here, they're the newest, fresh-off-the-line boxes, and I just had to get some. The owner is very receptive to requests, and at checkout, has asked numerous times what I'd like to see or what I'd want to have stocked myself, which is amazing and has definitely as a whole fostered a loyal relationship with me and this store. The pre-order system is also very nice, offering discounts from MSRP with good communication and a fantastic one-man customer service model that accommodates requests very well and corresponds effectively with consumers. I am tremendously glad to have found a gem of a store so close to home and am long overdue for this review, and hope that this game store continues to keep their friendly vibe and expand to bigger and better things. This store is amazing!!! The selection of available games was soooo broad, not only the variety of games but also many, many expansion packs for base games. I also felt that the price of items was very reasonable, perhaps even a touch cheaper than I've seen elsewhere? I didn't do a direct comparison but nothing gave me sticker shock. The employee knew the stock incredibly well too, and was able to help us find what was needed. Finally, the selection of available figures and miniatures was much better than I have found anywhere else, including online. Loved how well organized this place is - they have a vast selection, yet it's still easy to browse in store. The layout made it easy to see what they have. Their board games are also cheaper (by ~10%) than other average game stores. We called ahead to see if they're letting us play some board games in store, and we were happy to find out that they offered demo games in store (even more collection in the bathroom lol). The bathroom collection was pretty impressive, so definitely check it out if you plan on hanging out there for a bit (& if you don't mind spending time in the bathroom). It was hard to get into the bathroom since there were things blocking the doorway. It was my first time trying out a demo game in store so I was glad that the whole experience wasn't as awkward as I'd imagined (aka no one staring at /judging us while my bf and I learned how to play 7 wonders duel). If I remember correctly, spongebob was the showing playing on TV while we were there. If we lived closer/in this area, I could definitely see us frequenting this store often. The guy (not sure if he's just a worker or the owner) was also helpful in suggesting other game stores in the area that might be carrying the game we were looking for. Very cute shop. They have a few tables inside where you can attend events or just play your own private games. There are two long walls filled with board games on the right and role playing essentials (books, miniatures, paints, etc.) on the left. The board games are organized alphabetically which was very helpful. The selection was also very diverse and you can definitely find more exclusive games here. We are here a lot. My husband just went through his old Magic cards and got rid of ones that weren't part of a deck and sold them to this store. They were so upfront about which ones they were interested in and very fair with the pricing. You could either get paid out in cash (for a lower amount) or in store credit. We are on a serious gaming kick right now and absolutely LOVE board games so he picked the store credit. What I love about this place is that you can try out some of the games before you buy. They have Buffy the Vampire Slayer playing on the big screen on the wall, and tables through the middle of the store that make for a very relaxed atmosphere to just sit and play a demo version of one of the many, many sample games they have out for you. Another thing to love about this place is that they always have a recommendation for another game you should try based on what you already like. We went in there asking for a deck-building Euro-style game, and they not only knew right away what that was, but also what direction to send us in. The walls are littered with games and the pricing is really competitive with online sites. 5 stars for these guys! If you are into Magic, they do host gaming tournaments on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Prizes and promos, too! The schedule is available on their Facebook page. I won't be entering since I'm pretty sure I would be embarrassingly terrible at Magic, but my husband could probably give you a run for your money. No matter your level of "nerd" this is a really comfortable atmosphere. They have everything from party/social games, to the latest Kickstarter releases. Pro-tip: this is a GREAT date idea. Go together and pick out a game. Buy a bottle of wine and go home and play. You'll learn more about each other in a short amount of time than you ever thought possible. read more

I've been looking for a local game store with a good selection of dice. I've tried a few other places but their chessex dice selection always left something to be desired. Dice house games has a fantastic selection compared to everywhere else I've tried. They have 2 to 3 shelving units dedicated to dice. Chessex, die hard dice, metallic dice games, mini dice, q-workshop and more. They have two full shelves of polyhedral chessex dice and two full shelves of 12mm and 16mm d6 blocks. They have chessex lab dice. I also noticed a glass case full of MTG cards, so now I have to come back with my boyfriend of course. I overheard the guy behind the counter telling a customer that they don't stock dice cups because they've never found one worth the cost. I appreciate a store looking out for their customers. I really like this place and it feels so dang friendly. My one complaint is that it was swampy in there when I was there. They had the door open and fans going, but it really wasn't enough. This is a really good small game shop. They only have a couple of tables to use, but they have a good selection of games.

I grew up in a Midwestern college town and the local gaming shop was the cool place to hang out, so having one nearby now is a comfort. The original Dice House was a few blocks away when we moved here but now it's a drive away (in a city I don't even know since I rely on Waze to get there) and I've gone there more often. It's a great place to find games and things to do (if it's something you've heard about, it's not too obscure for them to carry or order), and a better selection than a department store (also good to support a small business). They also give a discount and recommendations if you're not sure what you're looking for or want to try something new (and there's plenty). There's a lot of great stuff for gamers, but if you're getting a gift for someone that might not be then it could be limited. Though anyone can play and enjoy games and there's something here for anybody (and if there's somebody who defies even that then I don't want to know them). They have game meetings on many nights and weekends, and I'm always bummed I can't go but I usually have something going on and it might be out of my age range anyway. Also look on Facebook for some of their gaming groups (for board games and RPGs, last I looked) for people to meet and game with. As an avid board gamer I look for variety and quality. Dice House rolls natural 20s on those fronts. The wall of games seems smaller than you thought until you notice that it is well-organized and has depth and variety of games and expansions. Yes, you can find a few mass-market games, but this is a great place who say "I've heard about this Gloomhaven thing?" and want to learn without high pressure. Games span the years with classics and the new hotness. Prices are good and the games keep evolving. It's always worth a re-scan. He includes games that were on Kickstarter, not just the mainstream. TLDR: this store has the most anti-social, awkward and unhelpful staff I've EVER encountered. I walked in, and found an associate behind the counter. He didn't greet me, so after waiting a moment I opened the conversation by asking if they had a certain game. He looked at me, sarcastically said "no" and continued on with whatever he was doing behind the counter. My career is in sales. If I don't carry the exact product/model someone is looking for, I either; A. Find out if I can meet their need or solve their problem using something I do carry B. Recommend the dealer/company where the client can get their needs taken met. Clearly, the management at this shop needs to tell their store associates to treat customers warmly, and try to meet their needs. Dice House has forever lost out on my business. Perhaps I would have gotten better service if I had more lip piercings. read more

While the store is a bit on the small side, they have a ton of board games and is really well organized. A line of tables splits the store and there's usually people playing board or card games. I made the critical error of using the wrong analogy or terminology during a conversation and was corrected by one of their regular gamers (yes, some of them can be an odd lot). Nice store, parking can be a bit tricky since ther'e not a lot out front and it's timed (buy who enforces it?) but there's plenty just outside the Smart and Final (or whatever big store is next to the bank). read more

AMAZING!!! New releases are 20% off for a few weeks. Met the owner there along with a worker and they are helpful and kind compared to a previous shop I've been too. Don't let the small store fool you, they are stocked with almost any new game or current popular game you could think of, such as a whole shelf of Zombicide and their expansions with add-on. While most other shops don't offer promos, this shop is still offering promos for any games new or old. They got tables in the center of the shop for anyone to play on and they also got games for anyone to demo or try out on one of the shelves. For the owner, thanks! Been looking for a set of dice since my wife and friends are wanting to seriously get into D&D so I decided to look around the area for game shops. Stopped here after school last week just to look around. From the outside you would barely have an idea this is a game store. Not only do you pass the turn into the shopping center really quick if you're going west on Chapman, but the building is one of those with multiple storefronts only distinguishable by the signage above the door. That said, I was was very impressed with the interior and atmosphere. Almost every square inch of the walls were covered in shelving with neatly organized boxes of tabletop and card games filling them. I could have spent hours just perusing their selection and had no idea so many games likes these even existed! The way they had them placed on their sides, rather than on top of each other, was also very visually appealing and made pulling one from the shelf to view it infinitely easier than some of the other stores I've been to where you had to dig through stacks of games to get to an interesting-looking one near the bottom of the pile. The center of the room had tables and chairs for people that had come in to play. It was interesting eavesdropping on a dungeon master to see how he went about creating the setting for his players and handling npc interaction. There was at least one group playing Catan, and I believe there was another table playing Magic or some other card game. Finally made my way to the D&D wall. They had an entire shelving unit dedicated to dice and, despite this, I still wasn't able to commit to a set! They even had the metal dice, themed dice, and gemstone dice (not sure I need a $70 set of hematite dice, but it was interesting to see that they are available somewhere other than Etsy). Another shelving unit was dedicated to figures, another to books, another to Pathfinder, etc. Looking forward to the opportunity to come back with my wife and friends so they can see what the shop's like and to finally settle on a set of dice! read more

So many games, so little time. I was a little concerned from the outside that this shop would be small, but alas, wrong again, Billy! Dice House Games is a treasure trove for those who love any kind of analog games. Every Munchkin, Flux, MTG, etc. you could imagine. Shelves of miniatures and books for RPGs. Most impressive to me is the treasure trove of board games that fill shelves from floor to ceiling along the right side of the shop. They arrange titles alphabetically, from A to Zendo (which is also a great evil game). We didn't have a ton of time to play demos or play anything at the tables they have in the store, but I will definitely make the drive again when I have some time. Another thing worth pointing out is that their prices are at least 5% lower than what I've been able to find online. This is a major plus if you hate Amazon as much as I do.
