Hands-down the best comic book store experience! This was hands-down the best experience I have ever had at a comic book store! As someone new to comic books, walking into a shop can sometimes feel intimidating, but the environment at Comic Book Hide Out is simply second to none. The staff is incredibly friendly, inviting, and highly knowledgeable. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and completely at home while you shop. If you are an amateur like me and don't exactly know what you're looking for, there is absolutely zero pressure. Instead, they offer gentle nudges toward the best content that perfectly fits your personality and needs. The entire staff is phenomenal, but I have to give a special shoutout to the owner and the GM. They are the best two people I've encountered in a business setting in a very long time. Adjacent to the heart of downtown Fullerton (where street parking and lot parking is free on Sundays), this cool little comic book store offers a decent mix of new and old comics. The staff was very knowledgeable about comics and eager to banter about them. Prices are slightly high but the selection is top notch. The walls are covered in original fantasy/sci fi art and the bathroom walls are 360 degrees decorated with cool posters. Comic book hideout is an amazing little spot that hits the mark for any comic reader!!! I really enjoyed this shop and its dedication not only to the fans of comics but they have a great spot in the back for kids and other activities along with indie artists artwork. I may have to hit them up and see if they would be willing to put some of my illustrations out. I was a let to get all my usual comics and more, the staff is very knowledgeable and it was great just talking with them. The shop has a hide out vibe which is cool and I think they could even re organize it a bit to make it feel like a lair !! That would be awesome. But that's coming from a guy who loves TMNT and has always wanted to make A turtle lair comic shop. Prices were perfect even for some of their exclusive covers and. Backlog comics. I also love that they get in the blank covers for artists. I live in Corona and I have not found a good shop out here so I have to travel out and I'm glad I found this one. I just won't be able to come down as much as I'd like to. But I appreciate the foundation of where this shop Began , the amazing owner who established a shop Dedicated to the heart of comics and the appreciation for indie artists. I've been to the store a few times. I really enjoy going there. I don't live in the area so I'm not a regular. But I love the layout and vibe of the store. They have a very large new issue selection. Nice sized back issue selection with a lot of key issues. Nice selection of figures. Very large store for the area too. When I was there there was somebody working on some original art for the store. She was really talented. The female owner sorry I wish I got her name was really nice to talk to when she wasn't trying to figure out the register system. Next time I'll spend more time there small talking. I like the vibe of the store. read more

Love this spot! After going around seven different comic stores in the area and feeling very discouraged and disappointed at each one, I came to Comic Book Hideout seeking just one thing: Winter Soldier comics. I was at my wit's end. Several other comic stores didn't have any in stock, were closed on their supposed "open" hours, or just had the worst customer service. I had just spent an entire day going to different comic shops, getting ignored or dismissed by employees... and then I found Comic Book Hideout. Not only did they HAVE Winter Soldier comics, an employee (Nate?) went above and beyond to sort through every box to find me issues that even had the barest minimum of Bucky Barnes cameo. The issues were in great quality and reasonably priced, too. I even managed to find another elusive issue here that I've been hunting online for MONTHS. Comic Book Hideout felt like a reward after all the suffering and frustration I endured at all the other, neighboring comic shops in the area. Comic Book Hideout was a really cool place! I want to start this review by saying that I know absolutely NOTHING about comic books. I do, however, have a son and wanted to take him to see if there was anything cool to pick up. He is sort-of into super heros - but nothing too crazy. I wanted to show him that there's a lot of different kinds of comics (Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo, Super Heros/villain's) and see if anything peaked his interest. The workers at CBH were so very, very, nice. Sometimes places can be kind of elitist - and we didn't feel that at all here. My son is very into Captain Underpants, and while they didn't have anything specific on him the man working at the counter was nice enough to see if they had anything by that author and gave some recommendations for comic books for younger children. Fullerton is a hell of a drive from me (SFV!), but if I am ever in the neighborhood again I would make a point to stop by and support this business. read more

My friend Ophir introduced me to this comic book hideout where they sell DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and independent comic books. They have comic book writers I know from cosmic lion productions after, I visit Long Beach comic con last year. Other than that, I love reading Superman 78 and Batman 89 as an alternative continuation of the first 2 movies instead of the last 2 sequels of poorly written. Anyway, I don't mind Superman and Batman 3 and 4 in general as a kid. The service is great for selling comic books to own as a fanboy. The values of T-shirt sales are great for their own merchandise. read more

I revisited the Hideout yesterday to see if there had been any changes since my last visit. The service is still exemplary and the person who helped me was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. There's still a great selection and some gems (priced as such) to be found in the back issues bins those willing to go on a bit of a hunt. I'm happy to report that pricing on open-order-variants/b-covers is cover price, as it should be (at least for the books I purchased). Unfortunately, that's all that seems to have been improved. There is still a ridiculous markup on back issues. I found books that go for $1 in every other store that were priced at $5 which is like asking $50,000 for a 1992 Honda Civic; just because it's not new anymore doesn't make it a classic. It doesn't help that another comic book store (which I won't mention here) has opened nearby that does not apply a markup on every book finds itself in the back issues bins. Ultimately, the Hideout is a good place to get new issues, including open-order/b-cover variants, but I can't advise casually buying anything more than a year old unless it's a specific book that you're hunting for and you're willing to pay a (sometimes steep) premium to fill a gap in your collection. read more

Found a comic that was priced, and before checking out, the store owner believes it to be undervalued, so decided to increase the price. Maybe just me, but it didn't sit right with me. My new favorite comic book store. I had a great experience here today. I'm getting back into reading and had just previously visited another store that was very dissatisfying. Coming in here was the complete opposite and a breath of fresh air. The store is aesthetically great and what you'd hope a comic book store to be. I was warmly greeted immediately upon entering. Employee Nate gauged to see if I needed help finding anything and I let him know I was getting back into reading. I had asked about a specific run and he showed me exactly where to start. He then recommended a few others and was very personable and not overbearing. I left with a couple new books one of which Nate had recommended. This place was excellent and I will definitely be coming back. If you're looking for a good local comics store, this is the one! read more

When we moved here this became my local comics shop and it's been that since. (Though there wasn't much competition. The other place I'd been to didn't have the breadth of selection that I was used to.) This was the last physical place of business I went to before locking down for the pandemic. Quarantine sent me off the schedule of visiting the comic shop once a week like I had for most of my adult life, though it's been years since I've bought comics regularly, but it's always been nice to stop in when I can. Now this is my place for occasional gifts, and they usually have a great book I can give. Not much for back issues, as much as they try -- no place short of a warehouse could be -- but they've got other stuff like Magic TG cards and toys, so there's always something neat to find. The interior is stimulating and lots of stuff for comics and pop culture fans. And Glynis and Funky are great folks who run a friendly shop, so this is surely a gem in Fullerton. read more
