What a nostalgic vibe it brings, filled with vintage comics, funky pop, and cool finds. The boys came for some Pokémon cards; it's a little pricier from Japan, but the store offers affordable treasures. My son gives it a 5/5. The boys and I are genuinely happy. Found MOLD in action figure! Seriously disappointed after purchasing a Nightcrawler figure, got home opened the package and found mold within the creases. Paid $60 for it, without knowing it was molding because we couldn't see inside the box. Never coming back :( read more

Always a great place to go when I'm looking for some MTG cards. They let you look thru the bulk yourself and they always have a great selection of boosters and singles. And it's not even their focus!!! Staff is always so great some of the nicest people ever, I had turned away from other shops because the staff in these spaces could be rude or somewhat elitist or Cynical and I almost turned away from the hobby as a whole but the folk here are so nice and welcoming that they single-handedly kept me in. Amazing value and prices for singles and honestly very fair prices for their boosters. They do buy x for x deals on their boosters and it helps you save a bit! read more

Went in today in hopes of seeing some good items only to come out disgusted and disappointed by the complete ripoff that this store does. I noticed a One Piece Franky funko pop in the shelf, however, it was a RESTOCK of the original mold that was just sent out by Entertainment Earth not too long ago. This can be seen by the unpainted nose and yet this store charges a ridiculous amount of $145.00. Whereas the original one can be bought for roughly $60~ on eBay. It's ridiculous that you need to fool collectors into buying a pop that they can get for $12 somewhere else just to make a profit. Do better and quit fucking screwing people out of their hard earned cash! I urge you DO NOT COME HERE to buy any of your collectibles because most likely everything else will be damn ripoff like this one! Be careful. read more

Great selection but one thing I questioned was why were all the older comic books in bags with boards and all the new comics were un-bagged.. I thought when I purchased a few new books he would place them in bags but nope! He stuck them all in a grocery bag and sent me on my way. I go to other comic books places and all their new books are bagged with backboards. So I'll probably go back to those shops next time. This place did have a great selection and was well kept. Disappointed in this place. Always try to support local places like these but they're outright price gouging now. Wanted to buy a pack of Pokemon 151 for my kid because he loves the old school Pokémon's but they charge $20 for 1 pack now while other card shops charge around $12-13, which they charged before. Now they're just trying to take advantage of the hobby and being greedy. It's all good, there's better card shops around that I don't mind paying a few extra bucks to, not 4-5x msrp. read more

So I'm definitely not surprised to see that people have commented on the customer service here, bc it's consistently awful. The cute lady with the accent is the best one by far, if you're lucky enough to come in when she's there then ur good, but the other employees all give off that vibe of being annoyed by your requests, or else they do that thing that retail workers do sometimes where they talk loudly to each other in an almost performative way. Either way this isn't the place that makes me feel comfortable browsing. I used to come in mostly to buy things for someone else, but have gotten into comics lately & I like to browse, pick out titles that look appealing & flip thru looking to see if the the artwork appeals to me, looking the titles up on Goodreads to see what my friends have said etc etc, & sometimes I carry around 2 or 3 titles while deciding, but when I pull another to flip thru I'll set them on the shelf bc I need to use my hands. On more than one occasion the dude with the hat has rudely commented about it saying not to leave things places bc they're very meticulous about having their stuff in order, and even tho every time I've told him that I'm not leaving them places, I'm just setting them there for a sec while I look at another title, he continues to make the same comments & hover around, pointedly putting away things, it's gotten to the point where other people have left titles out or on top of the rows & it makes me awkward if they're in my vicinity bc I feel like someone is going to come over & sigh dramatically & assume it was me that did it. If you value customer service, this is not the place. The guy in the hat that looks like Tobias Menzies (Frank from Outlander, Edmure Tully from GOT) is about as standoffish & rude as it gets, so if ur looking for a place with employees that can give you recommendations, steer clear of here if hat guy is around. If u just wanna pop in and out & pick up what u already know will be there, new issue releases etc, then this place will work fine. They're on the expensive side, & their inventory if pretty minimal, they carry almost exclusively new stuff so this is not the place to go to look for older stuff. Basically if you live close by, & just need to pop in for the comics you want to pull this is that type of place, but don't come here to browse, or to find obscure or independent titles, or for friendly comic book convo cuz this aint the place! read more

Their Pokémon booster packs have to be absolutely weighed. I've never gotten a hit from this place buying singles. Also the price gouging is insane. I want to love this place but the card stock is pitiful and when they do have stock it's way over TCGplayer prices. Staff is alright. Earlier today my family and I visited this store and I was very disappointed by the customer service. First, we walked in and the man at the counter didn't even acknowledge us (like most comic store vendors do since they're smaller businesses). Second, after waiting patiently to be rung up while the man at the counter chatted away with another customer, I was completely ignored so a Caucasian customer who came in way after me could be greeted and attended to prior to me. Due to this, I placed down the item I was waiting to pay for and quietly walked out with my family. When the man at the counter noticed this, then and only then did he acknowledge us. This is a pretty amazing little store. Located off Bellflower Blvd and Sterns, across from a CVS is this little comic book store. Do not park in the back where Trader Joe's is. There's no entrance on that side. I walked in and was amazed at how many Funko Pops they had. Like many Yelpers, I agree that there was a lack of the warm and fuzzy customer service greeting. Look past that and help yourself to browse through their collection. The Pops are in categories from Movies, TV, Disney, Marvel, etc. The high end collectible/ vaulted ones are behind the glass at the front of the store, but if you're lucky you MAY find a not so mint copy on the floor with the commons. I did! I wanted the King Arthur from Holy Grail for $25 but the woman suggested I poke around the floor for another copy for $11.99. It was a needle in the haystack but I found it! They currently have an incentive for Pops. One is $11.99 but buy 2 or more and get it for $10 each. Buy 5 and get a deeper discount of $9 each. The catch is they can't be exclusives or over $13. I was able to find 5 Pops, in which 3 were Vaulted but in the common section for $9 each. Don't let the fact they're not warm and gushy workers stop you from coming here. If you want something, SAY SOMETHING. This isn't Disney where they greet you with that saccharine smile. I'll stop by here again. read more

Amazing Comics is a store I frequented more as a kid than at present but has always left a lasting impression. Walking in these doors took my breath away with nothing but comics, figures and collectibles in site. Wall to wall this place is filled to the brim with comic books and collectibles of all of our favorite heroes, heroines & villains. I often frequented this amazing shop looking for rare and hard to find Star Wars figures that I could not get elsewhere. These amongst other collectibles such as Magic The Gathering & Comics always had me eager to come back. Although most of these collections have since come and gone, I still get the same warm and fuzzy feeling inside every time I step through these doors. As I look back as a collector now, the store itself still has a great variety of options for avid collectors, however the pricing is what does hold them back a bit from reaching the next tier of great comic stores. Unlike other stores around, deals here are often hard to come by. The comics are rarely offered up in discount and the toys are a bit more than other stores I have discovered in recent years. The service provided to me both as a kid and adult here are a bit lackluster as I am rarely asked if I am finding everything or need help finding anything. The workers are usually behind the counter but are not typically quick to assist, at least in my experiences. As a whole this is still a great store (although there are better) and I would recommend checking it and see for yourself if this is the store for you. read more

This is one of the better Comic Book stores I've visited in the Los Angeles area and in the South Bay. I read reviews about the "service" and, sure, there's no greetings when you walk through the front door, nor is there any proactive inquiries to offer help... but for me, as a shopper, I sort of enjoy being left alone and not hustled, so if I need anything I ask, if I don't need anything, it's nice to not be bothered... so, that's a "plus" in my book. I ended up not buying / purchasing anything the day I visited, which also makes me feel less pressured to buy something/anything when visiting a store where they seem so casual. From that standpoint, I didn't ask for any assistance or help, so can't comment on that aspect of their customer service. What I liked about this store is that they seemed to have a good diverse variety of: 1) Current Comic Books - very organized. 2) Recent Back Issue Comic Books - incl. a $1 and $1.99 bin with recent potential treasures and other more expensive back issues. They also carry those "variant" cover releases so popular in the Y2KX generation of this decade of gimmicks marketed by the publishers. 3) Magic cards - 'tho I don't play nor understand it, they seemed to carry a lot in a showcase. 4) Action figures and statues - all sorts of characters 5) Collected Editions and TPB (Trade Paperbacks) - They have huge a section where a lot are more than 50% off, including some of the rare "Marvel Masterworks" hardcover (out of print) normally $50+, but sold for $20, as the store's best "hidden gem" treasure find for collector's out there. 6) Archival supplies - bags, boards, boxes, etc. Plus, they have some non-sports trading card sets and other things. I even saw some vintage Marvel glassware here. The only thing missing really missing, which most stores don't have are the vintage comics from the silver age (or even bronze), which is always nice to see in a comic store, but understandably it's expensive inventory to carry and collect dust if there's no customers to buy them, plus they're not so easy to acquire (at least to good ones at good prices). I've read reviews on this store, some negative. The main comment I'd say for improvement is to get better lighting, as it's a bit dark and dreary, 'tho it's super clean and organized (unlike some comic shops which are cluttered). Better lighting will showcase the merchandise and bring up the energy a bit here. Even the front door seems "unfriendly" ('tho I do understand the need for tint since their worst enemies are shoplifter/thieves and sunlight, so that minimizes exposure to both) in that you can't really tell if it's open or closed for business, and could use some friendly fung shui to it. Parking is easy here since it's in an outdoor mall environment with a huge parking lot. read more

This place is not for local customers. Every Wednesday, new releases are cleared out by other local comic book store owners for their shelves. If there was an issue you could not get a hold of, I bet you can find that exact same issue at "Pulp Fiction", marked up because they bought the supply for the week from Amazing Comics. The rest of the collection that is left, is damaged goods being sold at full-price. For instance, some Local Comic Book Store Day foil variants are damaged at the spine and color breakage right on the cover selling, at above cover price. If you are lucky to find what you're looking for, it is not guaranteed to be a copy in acceptable condition. You might get lucky if the store decides to cover up the damage with a price tag. To make matters worse, eventually if you explore the store long enough, you'll discover an 'unmarked' section beneath the back-issues, that is 'reserved' for store employees only. Don't touch those! Apparently, they're highly sought after issues that staff sets aside for their own speculation purpose. Forgive me for not understanding fully, but how is that a professional business practice? If you don't want visitors to look through those boxes, they should not be there or there should be a clearly marked sign. So, if the new issues are 'Reserved' for other comic book store owners and employees every week, and the rest of the collector issues are 'Reserved' for staff at Amazing Comics, then what is 'Reserved' for the local customers and visitors? Trash. It's embarrassing to see this in the community. In fact, miss me with that shiz. I'll skip out Wednesdays now, I don't want to see "Red Hat Guy" getting verbally abused by "Pulp Fiction Girl" again for not pulling her specific issues. This place is pretty good for casual browsing. I come in here just to poke around maybe pick up some miscellaneous things every once in a while if I'm in the area. I can understand some reviewers mentioning how the staff sometimes keep to themselves but that doesn't really bother me. I'm usually in here to just browse and would actually prefer to just be greeted and left on my own to check out the merchandise. Whenever I've needed help the staff has always been responsive and got me what I needed. Overall not terrible if you're looking for a quick browse. read more

I've been here a few times and it is a great place. They have comics, graphic novels, figures, busts, posters, cards, POP toys, and they even have plastic sheets for .18 for when you buy comics without one. I've been to another comic store, and they have a bigger selection of comics, but I still prefer Amazing to them. The overall atmosphere is nice, it doesn't feel like I'm walking around an indoor garage sale like some comic places. I think the Marvel to DC to independent labels ratio is pretty good, it doesn't seem like the store is playing favorites. I would suggest you regularly visit if you're trying to get all the issues for a certain comic, because there's no guarantee that the older issues will be there in the $1, $2, or $5 boxes. My family and I walked into the store three minutes prior to closing time to purchase one specific item that was in stock (and in sight) and we were asked to leave because the associate "had to close at 5pm" - poor customer service. Employees putting their priorities ahead of the customer's when store hours were posted online and in front of the store. We traveled several miles and visited multiple stores prior to going. If they wanted to close earlier the store hours should be adjusted accordingly. read more

This a really cool comic store in Long Beach! This was my first time here and I really enjoyed my first visit. There is a great selection of everything: obviously tons of comic books and graphic novels, fun pins, Pop! dolls, adorable plushy dolls and more! They have the biggest selection of Pop! dolls that I've ever seen. Definitely come check out the collection of the Pop! dolls if you are a collector. There is also a lot of super hero and movie figurines that get really expensive. $100 plus for each... they are pretty awesome but I don't think I would ever buy one There isn't a whole lot of customer service here. I personally like to shop alone and browse through items without someone hovering over but the woman working did not even say hi when we came in and seemed kind of bothered when I asked her questions and didn't smile at all. I've worked in retail in the past and I always said hi when people walked in. It's just good customer service. But the guy who we paid with for our items was friendly so that's good. I will definitely be returning to this comic store. They have a lot of Harley Quinn items (I am obsessed with Harley Quinn) so I was drooling over all the plushy dolls and awesome figurines. The comic shop from my childhood but luckily not my main shop. I'll always have a soft spot for amazing comics - it was my childhood comic book shop and you know that shit is sacred. However, comic book shops have changed for the better in the past 10 years and it feels that amazing comics is still somewhat behind the curve. They have a good variety of books and they have an awesome selection of toys and collectibles. The problem is they seem like they don't order enough books to keep themselves fully stocked. They run out of stuff pretty quickly - and not even good titles either! The staff here used to be the real versions of the comic book shop guy, Jeff Albertson, from the Simpsons. If you made the mistake of asking a question the best hope you had was just getting ignored. Thankfully the staff is better now, but not enough. It's kind of a mixed bag - some of the employees can be pretty friendly and others are still stuck in the 90s. I hope the shop is here forever - I really do appreciate it and they do have an impressive collection. Just be sure you know where a few other comic book shops are around the area and don't take it too personally if they act really annoyed with you for mixing up the Green Lantern with the Green Arrow. But seriously, you should know the difference. read more

I've become a new regular to this place, whenever I can make time to hunt for Funko Pops! I usually would call the store over the phone first (since I'm a city away from this place and I've been told in the past that they don't carry some older Pops). HOWEVER, they do carry a few older ones if you're playing catch up as a Marvel/DC collector in particular. The store staff is pretty thorough and organized--not to mention honest about their inventory. I happened to notice their comic selection is mostly some of the modern comics (which I don't mind at all!), but I haven't bothered to check if they carry any back catalogue like Metropolis Comics or Atomic Comics. Non-Funko figures are also pretty broad in terms of selection, both new and old (think 90s Toy Biz era stuff from Marvel). I've also bought from their selection of single Pokemon cards in the past, however the selection for those isn't too big (about 2-3 boxes iirc). Overall the selection for figures/new comics/Funkos is the highlight of this place, and I'd definitely give it a visit for Free Comic Book Day, or any other day for that matter! read more
