I have heard tales about this place. I heard it used to be a great spot until the new owner took over. He is a total sleeze and gives big insecure loser energy. I literally just started going because it was a convenient stop on my commute. But on my second visit to this place, I witnessed an incredibly uncomfortable interaction at Card Addiction. I saw a similar story on google reviews and it may be the same incident, but I also wouldn't be surprised if this has happened multiple times. I saw the owner publicly accuse a customer of stealing a $0.50 die. The customer earnestly apologized and tried to explain the misunderstanding. The owner would hear nothing of it and instead began repeatedly calling them a thief and spewing such hateful energy at them it made me sick. Everyone watching could see that it was an honest mistake, yet this sorry excuse of an owner doubled down on this narrative he had in his own head. It was so off puting as a customer to see a representative of a business in our community failing to show any kind of professionalism, common sense, respect, or basic decency. No business owner should treat customers with that level of hostility over an honest mistake, much less a 50 cent mistake. Publicly humiliating someone over most things is generally distasteful and an in this case an abuse of power. Buyer beware for this establishment. The other post on Google got a response where the owner once again defended his disgusting behavior and doubled down further by going as far as to accuse the person who posted the review a theif as well. If this review isn't proof enough, then the lack of remorse, humility, and most importantly accountability in the response to feedback should be the nail in the coffin for this owner. read more

Would give this place zero stars if I could. I saw this booth at Frank and Son's today, and the owner (Kevin) was extremely rude and condescending. For the 30th anniversary of Pokemon this year, my girlfriend and I decided to complete the first edition Base/Jungle/Fossil set. There was a girl at the booth (might've been his daughter) who helped us out and made us write down all the cards we needed. After we wrote down all the cards we needed (about 60 cards, holo and non-holo), we left while they began looking for them. We gave them our phone number as well. After about 2 minutes, we were called and told to speak to the manager (Kevin) directly. Because the value for these cards were so high, he wanted to make sure we really in fact wanted the cards and knew how much they were going to cost before looking for them. He said that unless we wanted to buy all the cards, they weren't going to take them out because he didn't want to have to "pay his employees only for us to walk away" LOL what? You want us to agree to buy all the cards even before you take them out? Without even checking the condition? What on earth are you smoking? Also, did I forget to mention he charges a TEN PERCENT fee for using Venmo/Zelle/Card?? That's laughable man. He then proceeds to tell me there's a near mint Charmander 1st edition Shadowless for 2k on TCG Player. "Are you prepared to spend that much?" he asks, in the most condescending tone. Stop judging your customers man. My gf and I are Software Engineers who make a decent amount of $$ from working in FAANG. I know how much these cards cost, and I'm prepared to spend that much. You don't need to speak to people like that. You lost thousands of dollars you could have made just from disrespecting us. This shop might have the cards you're looking for, but they're so stingy and rude that buying any overpriced cards from them isn't even worth it. Even if he sold me the cards I needed for half the price, I legitimately wouldn't even buy them because my mind has created such a negative association with him and the cards already, that having them in my binder would just make me sick. 1/10 -- Decent shop and employees, but HORRIBLE experience with the owner. The shop itself is decent and the employees were friendly, but my experience with the owner was extremely disappointing. When selling cards or sealed product, I found his offers to be heavily based on the lowest listed price rather than what I considered a reasonable market value. He also appears to take the lowest listed price as the basis for his percentage when purchasing cards. More concerning was the way the owner communicated during the interaction. He repeatedly talked over me and raised his voice in a demeaning manner rather than having a respectful discussion. I would highly recommend comparing offers elsewhere before selling cards or sealed product here. Went over to sell some cards at Frank A Sons - I've collected for decades and wanted to liquidate some of the more valuable cards. My collection priced at about $8000. Realistically there are a few cards in the binder that aren't near mint and my valuation. Is modest. I'm not new to how much cards are worth. I approached Kevin's booth and walked him through the collection. He asked me what I wanted to do and explained that I'm open to selling what he would be interested in. He said he was busy and asked me to write my number down. I left my number and he said he'd call me when he was ready. I walked around for an hour and came back and asked him if he was done. He hadn't looked at anything. He then says I got you. Pulls out my cards and says that he'll let me know how much he'd offer. Since it was close to closing he suggested I meet him at his shop - that it was close. I waited then drove over. He wasn't there. By that time I had invested 3 hours. I asked for Kevin and the guys at the shop said that he usually stops to eat. I waited another hour then called his number. He stated in about needing to eat, that he's worked at the show for hours. At this point I was frustrated and angry at the lack of consideration. I told him I was going home and told him to call me with an offer. He finally texted me at like 11pm telling me to give him a call. Texted the following morning asking for an update. He told me to call him. I did at about noon. He made an offer of $2300 for the cards. I told him I was closer to 5-6k realistically. He pressed talking about card condition and that it was going to be hard to sell the cards. I told him I'd be down to pick up my cards. He made that difficult as well saying that he wouldn't be available until 8pm. I went down and picked up my cards, he basically said that no one would pay more than his offer. I told him I would have been happy with 75% of the value. (By my math he still would have made something like $1500 out of the deal). He was rude and quite frankly insulting. Beware of this guy. read more

I'm new to the whole TCG sphere and was honestly a bit scared to go to my first card shop as a newbie. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly employee and we casually struck up a conversation about the wind opening and closing the front door. My main thing was to find a Pokemon gift for my girlfriend and with how scalpers are these days, I was happy to find any kind of booster packs and tins at all. The same employee helped me pick out a nice tin and some top loaders to gift my girlfriend and all at a fair price. Compared to eBay and other online sellers a lot of the stuff offered here was either at or below the average prices. It's a bit scary getting into a new hobby and the employees here created a welcoming environment that makes me want to come back again and continue collecting. read more

I didn't go to the actual store but the booth they have in Frank and Sons Collectibles in City of Industries. The guy who I spoke to who's name is Kevin who is the owner of the store if I'm reading the reviews correctly is completely rude and a bit of an asshole. Asked him for the price of an expensive card. Tells me a price and won't show me the card unless I commit to buying it. I say I'll come back because I want to see if any other booths in the area would also have this card. I come back after and in a condescending tone asks me if I have any other questions other than asking about said expensive card. I stated no but wanted to ask if he could come down on the price of said card. He bluntly just says no and then dismisses me. It's one thing if I tried to offer a lowball price, it's another if I asked if he had any room to budge. Especially when he quoted someone about prices from eBay and tcgplayer but won't give me an option to do the same. I would say as a whole, I as a tourist that was just visiting the california to see some card shops I wouldn't go to them unless you wanted to be treated badly and am surprised this guy is still in business. read more

The owner, Kevin, ripped us off. I came in with a list of about 60 cards for a budget deck. Some cards were clearly crossed out because I already owned them and communicated the cards crossed out were already owned and they confirmed it was fine. We agreed on a $65 max budget if it went over that, he wouldn't pull more cards. He handed me a sleeve full of cards without going over what was included, what was missing, or confirming anything from the list. When I asked if he was able to get everything, he said my list was "too big." That's fine but what's not fine is what happened next. When I reviewed the cards, a majority them were not pulled and about one third of the cards that were pulled were cards that were crossed out on my original list cards I already had and made clear I didn't need. Instead of properly correcting the mistake and refunding the difference, he argued and only gave us $10 back. And argued they were not crossed off the original list, when I have screenshots I'll share later to where they clearly were. For a budget deck, the total should never have been close to that amount in the first place especially considering the wrong cards were included. It felt careless at best and predatory at worst, especially toward newer players who may not double check everything on the spot. I hate to mention attitude as well but he came off as not at all welcoming. I won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. Came in here to buy yugioh cards for my son. There was only one person in the store sitting down besides us. The young lady behind the counter was super nice and was trying to be helpful. The other man by the name Logan however, was the complete opposite. So unfriendly and passive aggressive but the moment the other one person in the room had a question, his attitude changed and was nice to him. Not good service, not good attitude, over priced 2 to 3x for smaller end cards. Didnt bother giving sleeves or top loader for our cards we bought. Had to buy them. I took my wife and two little brother. They overpriced there smaller cards because they have a "minimum". We are talking about cards market .90 cents and they initially told me 2 dollars which is over double and then when he rang me up he said 3 dollars because of a minimum and the moment when I told him you said 2 earlier, he was like I could do that. The reason they upcharge is because he said they dont get too much pokemon.... also other cards shop give you sleeves and top loader. We spent about 44 dollars and they didnt give us sleeves or top loaders for the cards we bought and when I asked, they wanted to sell them to us. read more

Such a great card shop! Stopped in this weekend and hit the shop. Great Singles and some ETB's to chose from. Prices were actually really good considering SoCal area, its usually high at these shops. All American stuff no Japanese. I was able to park easy (lots of space) and found a couple cards I wanted I picked up a Shiney Charizard and Rayquaza and they didn't price scalp they even gave me a decent deal on both cards together. They were both in great shape, I ended up buying more and pulled some great cards. Its always awesome when a shop remembers why we all do this and it makes the money and time all worth it. Great card shop prices are very reasonable with how many new fans so expect to pay a little more because it's instant access for a great selection of cards and supplies. For those mentioning their service and not getting attended, if you see an available worker at the cash register walk up to them and say hi it's not so hard. People like myself often go in the store to browse Yugioh card singles that are on display and I take my time reading and looking up the cards on my end. It's not their fault use your voice and maybe you'll end up making a friend, these guys have great knowledge on the card game and give advice on deck building and card buying suggestions. I went looking for a Pokémon card and I told the gentlemen who helped me: "I'm looking for a gift no more than $50, could you show me cards in that range." He brought out a few cards and I picked a Raichu. I was excited and thanked him for the help. Later that day I decided to do some research and found out the card he sold me goes for $20 MAX. I understand making a profit since it's a business, but the markup I ended up paying is just theft at this point. I was a beginner collector excited to purchase my first card for a friend and instead of gaining a customer they decided to scam someone. I had a horrible experience today with the manager running the stand at Frank & Sons, I believe his name was Kevin. I came in looking to sell just 4 cards with no real expectation of a price and first thing that happens as soon as I approach and say "hello." He refuses to even acknowledge me or greet me back. After waiting for a few minutes and just looking at my friends, as i'm about to walk away he says "just wait i'm busy" as he is texting on his phone. After waiting a few more minutes he finally asks "what do you want?" In a rude tone. I showed him my binder with the 4 cards and asked politely if he could check them out and to see what they would go for. After looking at them he asks me "what do you want for them?" And like I said I had no expectations or knew what they would be worth, so I just pulled out my phone to see what tcgplayer might price them out to be and as soon as I did that, he said to me, "what's the point of even looking up a price and me wasting my time telling you a price if you're gonna walk around to other stores? Go find a price then come back." then immediately handing me back my binder and proceeded to go back on his phone. I LITERALLY had no price in mind and would have just liked to get rid of the cards no matter the price, but the rudeness and just horrible customer service was insane. It's your business and i'm sure you get other people but there was no one there at the time so I don't understand what led to me being the target for the rude behavior especially if i'm just trying to do business. You are a grown man and acting like that is immature and scummy. Unfortunately I see I wasn't the only one to have to deal with that behavior from the same guy too. Immediately took my business that wasn't needed to the next vendor, got a price, and sold the cards I was hoping to sell. Simple and they were actually genuinely nice. It doesn't cost anything to be kind. If you guys go Frank & Sons, there is SOO many other vendors who are actually respectful and supportive. This place just has no respect for their customers and I can see why out of all the vendors at the time, this was the only one empty. Save your time and effort to the vendors that actually care. If you're looking for a chill, tight-knit Digimon card game TCG locals, we finally have a good one in Orange County. 15-20 people a week! Friday evenings starts around 7PM. Only reason this is a 4, and not 5 star is because the Store itself double books tournaments with Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments that are naturally big so space ends up very tight especially sharing with random people who just want to play casual games of non Digimon/YGO that night. I ask questions of cards I don't understand and they explain it to me as plain as water. The prices are super reasonable! Everyone is so nice and they help me right away ! Went here to pick up some One Piece TCG singles. Store had a big selection catering to a plethora of card games, like Yugioh and Digimon. They also have a lot of seating to sit down and play. Customer service was attentive. The only gripe about this place like many other reviews state is the pricing. They charged $3 for a few common singles that were each listed on TCG as less than $0.10. $3 is no big deal but the point is that they're seriously overcharging and probably made me pay for their shipping, They didn't pennysleeve my cards either like other card stores do. I'd stick to Sugoi Stuff in GG where they actually price match TCG. read more
