We can see why most people give this place such high ratings. My wife and I went there a few times before we met Almog - the tennis player. Let's just say that we didn't make the best use of our time until we connected with Almog. If we had met him the first time, we'd have given five stars!! We had done our research; and we knew what we wanted - you gotta do this people. If you don't know what you want, you can't blame the store for being lost. They have soooo many choices. We can also say that other local stores don't have as much variety; and they don't come close to what DD can do in terms of options and pricing, if you are talking to the right people. We went to most major local stores and they weren't even close. Throughout the process, Almog was extremely patient; and he took the time to educate us without trying to sway (sell) us one way or the other. He didn't waste our time by pushing options we were not interested in. So our advice - do your research first. Know what you want. If you are a bold risk taker, maybe buy something online. We were tempted; but we decided to buy what we could see with our own eyes. Personally, I was watching how my woman was reacting to each stone plus I was studying the GIA certificate. Almog did the rest with his connection to the store management and getting us the best price. One more thing - for bigger than average ( larger than 1.5c) stones, unless you are a gemologist yourself, go for a GIA certified (no other certs!) diamond. You will be able to compare how other stores stack up. We are very happy with the diamond we bought and with their customer service so far. My husband bought me a diamond & emerald ring for our 20th anniversary. Unfortunately, because of the design we have had problems with losing stones and some breaking/cracking - it happens. Most importantly, the manager Lev has assisted us during every step and has treated us amazingly well. We are pretty good customers of Diamonds Direct but he has treated us like royalty and has been singularly focused on our happiness. Wow not sure why the negativity in these posts? My wife and I went there for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. We did not buy and the salesperson was understanding when I said we were going to continue to look. We loved the Mamosas they served and the sales person was very knowledgable. I had an excellent experience buying an engagement ring at Diamonds Direct. My brother purchased his wife's ring from DD in 2010, and recommended I check out the store. I had the pleasure of working with Sylvia when I stopped in. She was extremely helpful, and spent several hours with me looking at different cuts and quality of loose diamonds. There was very little pressure to purchase on the spot, and I was even encouraged to take my time in the decision-making process. After coming back to the store with another diamond, I had the opportunity to work with Barak. He was very reasonable and easy to work with. I can't say enough good things about Diamonds Direct! My fiance had a great experience shopping for my ring there, and they were also great with working to get the price down since he was able to pay for the ring in full when he purchased it. He got a ring that was 2.5 sizes larger than my size, and DD ordered me another ring at no charge, and let me keep the old ring (with a ring guard on it) so I could wear it while we waited for the new ring in my correct size came in. I purchased an engagement ring for my prospective fiancée from Diamonds Direct in Raleigh. My sales rep was Laura Gallardo. Diamonds Direct offered a wide selection of high-quality diamonds and settings, and Ms. Gallardo's expertise was particularly helpful to me in choosing the perfect ring for my budget. As luck would have it, I noticed a very minor problem with the ring after taking possession of it. My post is going to tell you how Diamonds Direct resolved this problem to my complete satisfaction. I believe that whenever a problem arises between a customer and a company, everyone at the company is presented with an uncommon opportunity to demonstrate their genuine commitment to the customer by working together to solve the problem. This is what Diamonds Direct did to solve my problem. On the same day that I telephoned Diamonds Direct to alert them of my problem, I received a call from both Ms. Gallardo, my sales representative, and Lev Shnaidman, the general manager of the Crabtree store. They could not have been more helpful. In addition to their many sincere apologies, I was assured the problem would be resolved immediately. Mr. Schnaidman and Ms. Gallardo emailed me an overnight FEDEX mailing label to return the ring for repair (a $50 expense for Diamonds Direct), and they both stayed in touch with me every step of the way. Ms. Gallardo even came into the store ON HER DAY OFF to receive the ring and walk it over to the repair department. My experience with Diamonds Direct was fantastic. My husband and I went into the store to simply get sized for rings that we were planning to order online. I wanted to try on a full eternity ring as well as a half eternity ring to figure out which style was best for my lifestyle and personal style. Our salesperson was Austin. Austin was nice; charming; not pushy; and actually spoke to my husband from an understanding male perspective. I was already extremely decisive about carat-clarity-color-cut; metal; and setting. My shopping experience was fairly quick and Diamonds Direct was willing to match the online jewelry vendor's price and had better diamond specs than online! In the end, I custom designed a beautiful 5 carat, double row, 3/4 eternity band. My husband and I were ready to pay upfront so there was no pushy money exchange or pressure to leave a deposit as some others have stated in their review. Our custom order was placed a few days before Christmas so we were told and expected that it would take longer than the average turn around time for custom made pieces... It took 5 weeks total. Brian Dedrickson (Store Manager) was an absolute doll to followup with. I emailed him several times to make changes and/or ask questions, he was so jovial; honest; sincere and professional. When I received my ring it was fantastically made to my expectations and was even made with higher clarity grade diamonds than I originally ordered! As an extra token of appreciation we were gifted a bottle of wine from Diamonds Direct when we went to pickup my ring. After our outstanding experience at Diamonds Direct I strongly recommend that you visit their store before purchasing an engagement ring, in my now educated opinion they are the best jewelry store in town. After months of listening to commercials we decided to start our search at Diamonds direct. When we walked in, we were properly attended to and introduced to our wonderful diamond expert, Lisa. She asked me what sort of diamonds I was looking for, and what size. We instantly went around the store (the selection is huge) and spent over two hours trying on rings. She was incredibly good at helping me narrow down my selection, and instead of asking which was my favorite would ask me which was my least, which was an easier call to make. When we sat down with the final four rings she found out additional information for us about what the companies could do in terms of making matching bands (I like very uniquely shaped rings) and she was able to provide all of the necessary information. When I finally made my selection I didn't like the diamond that was set in it. She was able to speak to the manufacturer and discover they would make me a custom ring and we could select a diamond from their huge selection. She brought in three diamonds, all a great size and cut for the mount. When we selected our diamond I felt very informed, and like we were getting a great value. She even ask me to step away so she and my boyfriend could discuss price. I felt incredibly well taken care of at Diamonds direct. I felt like my wishes and desires were being respected, and honestly I just felt like an incredibly valued customer every minute i was in their shop. At the end of the day we were excited about the selection, but we like to be informed consumers so with absolutely no pressure we walked out the door. For the next 5 days we visited 8 other jewelry stores. We honestly didn't find service or selection that came close to diamonds direct. Even though I'm still glad we got to look around and really make sure we were making the right decision, I am so happy that Diamonds Direct was there for us. I recently purchased an engagement ring for my (now!) fiancé. All was great with the buying and resizing processes! Jonathan was wonderful from start to finish. He provided me with an education on the diamond I was buying and made me feel completely comfortable about the ring. My only complaint would be with the information provided on financing. I was told at the time of purchase that the financing company would send me one letter - key information so I could monitor the mail and keep the ring a secret. Anywho, I stopped in to look for a classic watch along the lines of Longines or Baume& Mercer; simple, classic, understated, elegant and professional. After waiting for service or to even be noticed, they sent the manager/owner over to discuss watches. I explained my desire for a simple non-flashy understated watch. He then proceeded to explain they don't carry that style but they do have Breitling watches (Tag Heuer, etc) which he forced me to look at. Breitling is the epitome of old man bling. Perfect for a fat midlife crisis man of 50+ who drives a convertible Mercedes and has the ability to purchase the highest quality dates/escorts. Every watch he proceeded to show me was so prodigious and blingy my shirt and blazer sleeves wouldn't fit over it. I felt like I had Batmans belt wrapped around my wrist. Not one watch had the simple "classic" look I sought out. As they mentioned, that's not the look they are going for; caters to the wrong crowd. Give her your budget and she will help you get the most bang for your buck in a no-pressure sales environment. I felt bad when I continued to come in over and over and not make up my mind on what ring I wanted but she took it in stride. While you're shopping they will offer you tea coffee beer or wine :-) no sales pressure. Just honest shopping at its best. Unfortunately, I had to award Diamonds Direct one star because none was not an option. I was doing a favor for my best friend's soon to be fiance, by picking up an engagement ring he recently purchased and had resized and a wedding band to be customized to sit flush against the engagement ring. I stopped by after work with the original receipt and my friend had called the store letting them know I was kindly picking up the ring on his behalf. After being treated like a common criminal (coming straight from work in a suit) having my driver's license copied, personal information written down, and watched like a jewel thief, I was told I could not leave with the ring because I owed them $624, even though the receipt clearly stated paid in full, in cash. Please note we are not talking about a $50K diamond here. In short, the manager magically appeared and told me he would "waive" the $624 and I would be getting a "FREE" wedding band to complete the set. I happily leave. When I get home with the rings, they don't match, haven't been sized, and do not sit flush together as my friend had been promised and waited 3 weeks for. To top it off, he had already paid for the set. Apparently Drea the sales associate had already sold him the wedding set and then Mr. Manager tried to screw me out of paying for a $624 unmatching band the width of a paper clip (that was rang up on the receipt as $400) AGAIN. The most entertaining part of the experience was the previous receipt had two items on it (of course because the wedding band had not been paid for according to Mr. Manager). They printed a new receipt, with three items (none of which the price was $624 for), with all prices changed in order to total the amount my friend had previously been screwed out of. I wouldn't give you $5 for tinsel and cut glass these con artists deal. It is obvious they do not want repeat customers. read more

Girlfriend and I went into the store at Crabtree and we made it clear to the so called "Diamond Expert" this was our very first time searching for potential engagement rings. I advised him I wanted my girlfriend to choose at least 2-3 different rings/settings so it would at least be somewhat of a surprise. I also made him aware that this being our first store I was not ready to make a decision today. Well needless to say the process went downhill form there. Diamonds Direct makes it feel like you are at a used car sales lot. After she had narrowed down a few choices she liked I got pressured into telling "J" what I was looking to spend. That's fine to an extent, but then he pressured me to put money down in order to hold the stone/ring. After initially explaining to him I need to figure out financial numbers, he calls over a manager who proceeds to make me feel even worse. She goes on to brag about the ring, and where they lost me and made me feel like a worthless customer was the comment in regards to a down payment. She suggested I put money down to show that "I was serious" about the ring. How dare you say that I have to put money down just to prove I am serious. I am there with the love of my life to begin with and this should have been an enjoyable experience for both of us. For your company and associates to insinuate that because I am not putting money down on one of the first three rings we see, at the first location we have visited, is an absolute insult. First class service , I went during their slow times, during the day , of course go in with a budget but be prepared for them to up sell you, it's their job, I went in with a 2500 budget and walked out with a 3200 ring, and couldn't be happier , everything was great but 4 stars due to Wells Fargo sending thier card and paperwork to our house that could have ruined the whole surprise , they should wait till I atleast get the ring , I got the paper work 2 days before getting the ring ; read more
