    Wine and Appetizers

Located on the bottom floor of the Airbnb I booked for Dublin, I managed to visit a number of times. Whether it was lunch or dinner, I found this place very pleasant. The atmosphere is great inside, warm and welcoming, although I spent most of the time in the patio. They have a good selection of wine, and a good selection of Italian favorites and daily specials that change from day to day. They also offer a number of desserts that unfortunately I didn't get to try but sure looked good. The waiter was great, explained the daily specials, gave a few recommendations, and overall gave great service, maybe a bit relaxed but that is normal in Europe, unlike American restaurants that are profit based and try to get you in and out the door ASAP. Will be back on my next trip to Dublin

This small and intimate restaurant is just blocks away from the bustling Grafton Street. Quiet atmosphere, great service, lovely ambiance (real candles!). We had salmon, rigatoni and penne pasta for mains - all delicious! We also splurged on dessert (carrot cake was wonderful) and wine. The waitstaff were lovely and attentive. We loved this place so much that we booked it again and came back for our last night!

Ate here following a friend seeing a great write up for this restaurant in the papers. Having read the first review, a little apprehensive but I've walked passed and noted it's cozy atmosphere a few times so agreed to our dinner catch up being here. Inside it does have a nice cozy feel to it. Seen promptly as I walked in, albeit it was not busy, was offered a table and the menus whilst I waited for my friend. Waiting staff were pleasant and polite although the were some language challenges as the waitress's English was not good (by her own admission). Whilst not an extensive menu the food on offer sounded yummy. The pasta dishes we opted for were cooked nicely, not over cooked sloppy pasta. Portion size was suitable, not left with either forcing it down so as not to waste, or hungry after. Also a generous pot of Parmesan was left rather than an offering of a sprinkle and swiftly removed like it was rare truffle shavings which some restaurants do. The only delays in service was our own doing (too much talking) as food and drink came out within reasonable timeframe. We came for dinner but I noted also open at lunch time. I'm only a visitor to Ireland but feel this is also the type of place I'd feel comfortable coming on my own. Price wise was reasonable.

Our group of four ate here last month and were impressed with the cute space and cozy atmosphere. We ordered a bottle of Italian red and flipped through the menu while we waited. We each ordered starters and by the time they arrived our wine had not yet been brought out. 20 minutes without wine is a bit much (especially with only 4 tables full in the restaurant) but after we reminded the waiter he sorted us out. I had the bruschetta, fettuccini bolognese and the tiramisu. Each dish looked lovely but if it weren't for the photos I would have forgotten each of them by the following morning. I wanted to love this place but the food was average and the service was somewhat poor. Pass.

Usually, the dining room comprises an underground hideaway that is quite sleek and intimate. However, due to the lockdown measures, we had to do outdoor seating directly on William Street while we were there. The experience was still beautiful, thanks to the surrounding scenery. The cocktails were grand between the P61 Signature Cocktail and the Hugo -- both prosecco-based cocktails. The former was delicious between the peach puree and prosecco, while the latter was a little more tart with the elderflower cordial. For dinner, we kicked things off with gluten-free bread with a trio of dips that were quite tasty. The Tortellini I ordered was exquisite and scrumptious with how it was prepared between the goat cheese, asparagus, red onion, wilted spinach, cream sauce, and bacon. I applauded this lovely dish with the last bite. I devoured the warm almond flour brownie for dessert, served with chocolate sauce and gelato, which my wife could also enjoy since the dish was gluten-free. Overall, Platform 61 was a great way to conclude our second Irish journey. We will return, especially to enjoy the underground dining area.

The ambiance is very nice as well, romantic but also good for a fun night out with friends. 10/10 recommend adding this to your itinerary for dinner!

For starters it was some of the worst service I have ever encountered and certainly the worst service for a Michelin Bib Gourmand. For starters my server was ill acquainted with the menu. She had no idea what the cheese foam was other than it was served in a bowl. She brought a wrong starter and insisted I ordered it when I did not. I ordered my steak to be medium it came rare. By the time my main entree had arrived I was exhausted from dealing with this rude, combative and surly individual. The plate of still mooing meat didn't help. I just asked to take it home. Nope, she said we don't pack anything to go. I asked for the manager at that point who pack up my meal and I was finally free to escape from restaurant hell. As for the food, Bread, Cheese foam, Argentinian Steak, It was average and overpriced. And all the bread was easily day old. One and done. Spare yourself the one and just be done.

Bread was fine but second dish served in oyster shells so I thought they brought the wrong dish? Just ok they said. The Seabass was good I got the check and couldn't wait to get outta there! My first thought was "who comes to Dublin to go to a wine bar?" but my first thought was totally wrong. I absolutely loved La Cava! It's such a cozy intimate restaurant. It gave me lots of West Village (NYC) vibes. Be careful when looking for the restaurant because you can walk right by it, It's a little place right off of Grafton St. It's also located downstairs! Such a hidden gem! We did the 3-course pre-fixe. The burrata was amazing, so fresh! The service was excellent. You were given plenty of time to enjoy your food without being rushed for the next course. The duck was perfect, and the lamb was delicious. For the dessert, the creme brulee was grand. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this restaurant. The prices were reasonable! I highly recommend having dinner here if you're in Dublin. Note, the restaurant is small, so you'll be sitting very close to other people. Personally, this didn't bother me, but some people might not love that. But be aware, that they don't accept AMEX!

I was by myself so I sat at the bar. Just a few seats and quite cozy. Perfect!! Had the pleasure of Jon taking care of me. Started with a sparkling rose' while looking at the menu. Decided on the 2 course Prix Fixe. Chose the mussels and then the fish duo. Of course had to have wine. I honestly can't get enough of this place. Can't wait to return!!
