I've dealt with several different shipping companies here before I settled on DHX. Other companies. Never call when you tell them to before they show up. Go to wrong delivery addresses. Lost shipment and dodge my calls for weeks. No follow up and communication. I was getting frustrated trying to find someone reliable who can just do the job right. DHX was my last resort. Ask for John, he is extremely on point and follow up was great from the whole team. Driver was kind and friendly too. Will be sticking with them, after dealing with a world of other services I was losing hope that I would find a company here that could do the job right. If you are getting a mainland company to arrange their own shipment, make sure they don't choose their own, route it to DHX they have hubs in the westcoast. Order a bunch of stuff for our move through ULINE, which arrived a week ahead of schedule. They called me the day after rit arrived in port to schedule the delivery. The driver (forgot his name) arrived on the early side of the window and was SUPER patient with me as I unloaded the pallet to get everything inside. Shout out to Theresa, Maureen, and Dantrell at the Hayward location for making my move of personal goods such a stress-free experience. I apologize Theresa for all the emails! Theresa answered all my questions and quickly provided my quote for shipping my goods. Dantrell helped me grab my personal goods from the car to put on the pallet which I appreciated it very much. Worst shipping company ever! They don't give a shit about your things when it's being shipped. We had a 70" TV and two crates for our items. My husband put the TV in the middle so it wouldn't get damaged but the worker there recommended to have the TV on the outside of the other items which we knew was a stupid idea, but he did it anyway. Everything was fine until 3 weeks later and we got our items. Our TV was shattered and they claimed they didn't do it and they "aren't responsible" for the damages that THEY did! This was my first time using a consolidator freight shipper and I can say that it was an excellent experience. That said, the customer must do her/his homework to understand the process and what is required. I was moving 700 pounds of household items from Hawaii to Arizona. DHX's prices are much better than using a moving company, if you are not shipping a large household. Fortunately, Shyla at DHX walked me through the entire process and without her excellent coaching, I would not have had the confidence to do this. She is superb at her job, both with explaining the procedures, and with follow-up and paperwork. I went to DHX and got a sturdy pallet. It took me a couple of weeks to build and load pallet in my garage. I strongly recommend you watch You Tube videos to understand how to properly stack and shrink wrap a pallet if you have never done so. You must also have your pallet ready for pick up on level ground so it can be easily loaded onto their truck. DHX arrived as scheduled for pick up. My items arrived in Arizona in just 3 weeks! Estes, the trucking company they work with in Phoenix was also professional in their contact and service. They delivered as scheduled, and all of my items were received in excellent condition. We had some household goods that we needed shipped from Portland OR. To Honolulu. We knew we didn't want it to take forever on a boat. About 15 boxes total 435 lbs. Dependable Global Express employee Mari V. Based in LA was amazing walking me thru each process, he kept in contact with me and and got my items transported to their warehouse in California where they where then shipped via Air to Hawaii, the items where delivered on a pallet to my home arriving a day earlier than expected, DHX called the day before delivery to set up a delivery time. Driver gave a courtesy call a half hour before delivery. Everything went very smoothly and all in a timely matter. Would recommend this company for your shipping needs. read more

I have nothing bad, only great things to say about DHX! A friend recently used their service to ship her things when she moved from Oahu to Colorado, & highly suggested them for hassle-free service. Going on her recommendation, I called for a quote. John was extremely helpful in answering all my questions, & the experience truly was quick, easy & painless (which was a welcomed departure from all the stressors moving to the mainland can bring!) We arrived with a UHaul full of household goods, signed some quick paperwork, put the boxes on pallets (4 of them!), wrapped them all in cling wrap, & payed for our things to be shipped from Honolulu, HI to California & then trucked to our front door in Houston, TX. The staff in the office was friendly & welcoming, & from dock to door, our things just arrived in 3 weeks! That's phenomenal if you ask me! And for a price that was far less than any other service we were looking at! I am so pleased with our experience with Dependable Hawaiian Express, and highly recommend them for moving... but I imagine if I was still living on Oahu & needed even one pallet of things shipped, I'd use them again in a heartbeat. The service is crap. They work with Furniture Express HI and it's a nightmare. They tell you the items will fit in your SUV then when it doesn't you're left to pay an additional $100 for delivery or if you return you pay $200 for storage fee. Ridiculous and terrible service. I honestly don't know why anyone would give this company anything less than 5 stars for their stellar service, unless of course they were a competitor or someone paid to do so. I have made furniture for well over twenty years. For my Mainland clients, I have shipped rocking horses, rocking chairs, benches, tables and stools. I always use DHX because they are terrific! They provide door to door service and make this task as easy as it gets. I get a pallet and make a crate for my shipment. Of course, it should go without saying that it is up to you to make sure there is plenty of packing material to secure your articles in the crate to prepare for the sea voyage. They do everything else, from coming to your house to pick up the crate and arranging for a trucker to deliver the crate at your client's home. They will make this arduous task as easy as it gets. I had a 1/4 container shipped from Emeryville IKEA and DHX lost the headboard for my king sized bed. This piece was marked as "accepted" by DHX, but when it did not appear in Honolulu, the company had me fill out tons of paperwork to "file a claim". (For what I don't know as I never got anything from DHX.) IKEA stepped up and was willing to provide another headboard to DHX, FREE OF CHARGE, so that I could get my whole bed - and what did DHX do? Not a lot of freight forwarders will ship household goods overland, but DHX did and the price was quite reasonable. We shipped our keep sakes from Oregon to Hawaii with dhx and let me warn you do not send any thing you don't want full of sea water. We unfortunately shipped all of our wedding pictures, children's studio pictures and some other stuff that was keep sake/memorabilia type stuff and after telling them a flat price tag of $600. and not a sentimental price tag of how much everything cost to buy they sent us a check for $49. I mean here is a company that gave us our stuff back in broken totes that literally was a 1/4 full of sea water and they settle things out at $49. What a slap in the face. Never again! This company is anything but dependable and nickel and dimed me until the end. I was shipping from Honolulu to Copenhagen. Once the items reached the mainland from Honolulu, DHX now said they were not properly packaged and they needed to package said the items with an additional fee of around $500!!! Ha! It already shipped from Honolulu with no problem. I was able to get a lower rate, but still had to pay to get my items 348 USD which is ridiculous since they picked up the items, and already shipped them once with no problems. Also, once items arrived they were damaged and I filed a claim for around 650 USD and they reimbursed 20 USD and that was with the 75 USD insurance I purchased. Do not use this company! read more

DEPLORABLE HAWAIIAN EXPRESS All of the negative reviews on here (well, all of them are negative except one) may be explained by their inefficient business practices, poor employee/employer relations, & EXTREMELY high turnover rate. They spend a fortune in time & money training new employees who end up staying an average of 3-8 weeks.Their drivers don't know how to read a simple delivery order to know how many pieces/pallets they are supposed to deliver, costing more time & money to deliver the rest of the customer's freight. EVERY single person there is thoroughly stressed out & literally obsessed with finger pointing, which means that things don't get fixed, the same mistakes keep happening, & after they're all done arguing & fighting about it, they're too exhausted to actually provide customer service. This also explains why it would have been cheaper to ship a surfboard by FedEx ground than through DHX according to a review on this page.. What you'll really be paying for is a Mercedes like the one he just gave to his daughter for going to college. read more

Matson helped our move by shipping my housing stuffs from Reno NV to Honolulu HI. Then DHX took over to bring our container from the Honolulu port to a self storage facility. Everything moved well up until our container had reached at DHX. A DHX contact person, Naomi, left voice mail by letting me know our container has arrived at the port and asking me to call back. When I call back, she didn't remember my name and said "I didn't call you today. What do you want?" I tried to explain my situation and asked her if there is anyway to hold my container for a while. She immediately transferred my call to somebody without any notice, and of course the staff didn't have any idea and she transferred me back to Naomi. Naomi could not pick up my call (probably being busy) and I left a voice mail asking to call me back and left my phone number. She never called me. In the next day morning, Naomi called me to say "your container has arrived". I knew it. She asked "when do you need us to bring your container, tomorrow or the day next tomorrow?" and explained the delay penalty fees. I told her "Ok, I will arrange the storage place and call you back this evening or tomorrow morning. Please remember my name". She said OK. Then, after I arranged a storage place in the same day in between my work, I called Naomi back (2pm). "I arranged the place I'd like to store my housing stuffs. Can you arrange a driver to bring it there at 1pm tomorrow." Surprisingly what Naomi said was "No, we cannot do that. We need 24 hr ahead notice and booking was closed at noon." ??? I told Naomi that I was going to call back 'this evening or tomorrow morning'. Why didn't she notice me that the booking would be closed at noon. It was very very painful to communicate with Naomi. And, of course I was frustrated because I must rearrange appointment with the storage store and rescheduling my works, then Naomi was rather upset & getting rude, and after I booked the trailer on the morning of the day after tomorrow, Naomi said "OK, thank you." and immediately hung up. I felt insulted and her work seems unprofessional. Naomi may be overwhelmed with the amount of works but, even though, I cannot recommend this company at all because of their poor customer support. read more

I SWEAR I do NOT work for or with this company... Very LONG story cut short: I had a divorce... Sent my Wife back to Hawaii where I met her, from the North East. Packed everything in very large plastic containers banded shut. Over a Pallet Cube.... I called everyone with the weight and dimensions, UPS, FEDEX, Various Independent freight Cos, All the While AVOIDING DHX Because of the reviews I saw here... I then thought I would at least get a quote... It Was Amazing, Waaaay lower than everyone else! "Too good to be True" I thought... backed into a corner I risked it. To my dismay they said NOT to pay until it got to California and THEY weighed and inspected it. "Great" I thought, "Bait and Switch"... I hoped for the best. The day it got to Cali they called me... their final number was LOWER than what they quoted me!! PLUS they shrink-wrapped the whole thing neatly for me. It got to Hawaii unscathed in ANY way! I actually wrote a few of their office members Thank You Cards! I think all these bad reviews are from people who don't know how to pack things for FREIGHT.
