The customer service is phenomenal, they always have what I need, (I get myself in trouble staring at their extensive Milwaukee collection) and they truly care about taking care of the Quartz Hill community. Interesting business here. Clearly the woman who runs this establishment is at the end of her life and could give not a care about "service" nor the "customer". Signs posted every where about not being so big and still able to have the opportunity to "serve". As there were 0 customers outside myself, the woman working the uhaul portion of the business seemed non to please to have a customer for the day. Express what the need for the van was, told her time frame of reservation, and approximate miles to be driven. After ringing up the order she had a Blanca Mt attitude that I was taking up her time for the day by even coming in. I must keep moving as I need to complete my job. Upon returning the van there was another customer there being helped. Kindly excused myself and asked if she was prepared to receive the van back. With her "terrible day" "life is just terrible" attitude she told me she was with a customer and continued to help the customer. I excused myself again to ask about an expectation of time where she would be able to receive truck. She continued to have the worst attitude in addressing me. Terrible space to do business! If this place is only place to rent a uhaul you'd be better off walking and carrying your goods on your back. Stay Away!! read more

I went into this hardware store looking for a specific plumbing fitting. A lady that worked there opened a package to match up the fitting to make sure it was correct. When I got to the register I was yelled at for opening a package. I explained to the guy that his employee opened it. He again continued to yell at me for opening the package. I have been in DeWolf Lumber a number of times in the past and saw some of the negative that others have commented on, but yesterday was new. I believe the store was bought by a new family. They were very helpful and nice! I needed some metric bolts that neither Lowe's or Home Depot carried and they had them, and were very helpful with me in finding what I needed. I notice all the previous reviews are not recent. If new owners, it may be worth trying them again. True, they are small, but they may just have a hardware item you need that the bigbox stores won't carry. read more

I went in asking for some tape or similar to temporarily patch up a piece of copper pipe that had a pinhole leak. The Hispanic one was texting on his phone and told me to wait. I literally stood there for two minutes waiting for him to help me. He walked me to the copper pipes. I told him I didn't need a pipe, I needed something to patch up a hole for the time being. He told me painters tape would do it. Seriously? I'm not an idiot so I asked him if they had flex tape. (He was looking at his phone the ENTIRE TIME) and he ignored me. I said "excuse me? Do you have flex tape?" He told me again to hold on! I just walked out of the store. So rude!!! Also the time before this visit, I bought a can of spray paint. Got all the way home and it was black, not gold like the lid indicated. read more

The two ladies that work at this store are helpful and courteous. However, the hispanic gentlemen is incredibly rood. On more then one occasion, I've asked him for help, only to be roodly directed to a general part of the store where I might find what I'm looking for. One of the rudest persons I've ever encountered. All the while, he does whatever he's doing on his cell phone. It's as if he wants the store to fail. Fortunately, De Wolfe Lumber is no longer the only small business hardware store in Quartz Hill. I was once a loyal customer of De Wolfe Lumber and would've continue being loyal had it not been for the bad customer service. I now go to Quartz Hill Hardware or drive into Lancaster/Palmdale. In today's competitive market, I want to support the small business owner. Sometimes I pay a little bit more $$. However, small town customer service has been loss at De Wolfe Lumber Co. I rented a uhaul from them that were great people an their store was equipped with everything I needed also got the truck I reserved. The only bad thing I can say about this place is the speed of service I waited about 20min before speaking to someone about the "reservation" and the process took another 30 so I would say I was there for about an hour. I was on time for my reservation but no one available to help me there should be at least two people to assist customers. read more

Beautiful sheets of maple. I know nothing about lumber, but I do know that I will have a grumpy husband if he tries to build something with warped or crooked sheets of lumber. On two different occasions, I have come here to buy maple plywood and both times have been exceptionally pleased with my purchase. The customer service is great. The staff is extremely helpful and informative. And so far - both projects made with the maple have come out perfect. The wood quality is great. Don't bother with the big chain home improvement superstores for wood... support local small business and head over to DeWolfe. The quality is so much better! read more

The owner is a extremely unprofessional and rude. I went in and was there for about 3 minutes just to get a U-Haul box so I parked quick and just ran in, the owner walks in and rudely asked the employee if he was almost done with us because we didn't know how to park. She continued to make rude comments in a loud voice as I walked out. All because I was parked in "her spot" when there were over 10 more open spots. I was in complete shock to see the owner talking to her customers like that. I will never go back here again. I would rather drive 15 minutes to Lowe's or home depot then drive the 2 minutes it takes me to get here. read more

Lumber prices are overpriced! It is close to my house. I thought it is very competive when i bought a lumber. I should get it from somewhere else. I asked if there prices are same but it is 30 % more. Lumber has lots of crack and warp when it was delivered i have to return it. Dissatisfied with the service as well. read more

I have shopped at De Wolfe's Lumber off an on for two years. The lady who works there, possibly the owner, is great. However, the man is unhelpful and unfriendly. I recently went there looking for a gas can. He seemed unwilling to help me, but also to look at the cans myself. I asked him how the safety interlock worked and he did not speak, merely shrugged his shoulders. I asked him if I could return it if I could not get it to work and he responded "no." I then asked him if the one-year warranty listed on the product would require a manufacturer return and he responded by saying "no" three times, putting the can back on the shelf, and returning to behind the register folding his arms. Probably the rudest encounter I have ever had in 64 years with any salesperson, although he has never been very helpful or friendly. Since he is there most of the time, I will simply never go back, especially since there is another hardware store one block away. read more
