One of my son's main wishes was some privacy from the neighbors who overlook his back yard and rather than extending the block walls above the legal height I decided that hedges would do the job. My criteria were fast growing, color, low maintenance and water and I decided on "Purple Hopseed". I called a lot of local nurseries hoping to find them at 6' high but that was prohibitively expensive with 15-gallon plants and nobody seemed to have them in 5 gallons. I stumbled on Quartz Hill Garden Center and spoke with Kiersten the manager, she was incredibly helpful and responsive and tracked down 37 five-gallon Purple Hopseed plants that she could get in two days from a reputable supplier. She told me that they would be 3-4 feet tall and I resigned myself to the fact that we would have to wait a year or two for them to grow and expand. Kiersten gave me a good discount so I ordered them and you can imagine my delight when they were delivered and were actually 6 feet high! I was actually getting 15-gallon size plants for a 5-gallon price (see photo). Kiersten was also a very helpful in recommending other local resources and she was an absolute delight to deal with. Chava, the salesman at Paradise, was incredibly helpful showing me around the yard and helping me make good choices, he even helped me calculate the quantities I would need. Having decided on what I needed I shopped for pricing with other local suppliers, Paradise had the best price by far and delivered at the agreed time and date and Chava was very easy to work with. He didn't speak English very well. I see listed below that they take credit cards and have free delivery. I was told they only take cash and they offer NO DELIVERY!!! NOT EVEN PAID!!!! They do have a huge lot of plants, mostly trees and their prices are very good. I'd like to buy a tree or two from there, but would have to figure out how to get them home. I only live just over 1 mile away, but they have no delivery and I don't know anyone with a truck. It maybe cheaper to pay more for a tree somewhere else and get a free delivery.
