Rudy and Rudy Jr. gave us a personal tour of their nursery. Around every corner was a surprise. The nursery is misleading. It looks like any other house on the block, but we couldn't look at all the plants because the yard was so huge and filled with plants. We bought this cycad along with a rare Silver Madagascar Palm. Don't ask me for the scientific names. Both Rudy's can name every plant.

An incredible hidden gem. My dad loves weird special plants, especially drought-tolerant ones --…read moreMadagascar spiny trees and ocotillo and other succulents from Africa and Central America -- and has zero other hobbies, so I'm always looking for them at Christmas. This place has the best and widest selection I've ever found, including HUGE (like 20 foot tall) and super rare ones (like, one of a few in the world with a rare mutation worth $30K), but also including a lot of more reasonable but still super cool plants at great and fair prices. And it's run by the world's kindest and most helpful family, Rudy Sr. and his son Rudy Jr. You should know: The address here is the family's house, which has a half-acre of plants and greenhouses behind it. They also have an acre of bigger stuff maybe six blocks away (Rudy Sr. drove me there). It doesn't look super professional -- there's no sign and I was hesitant to walk in (I called from their driveway) but I'm so, so glad I did. Rudy spent an hour showing me around and was incredibly helpful.

Don't know about their prices, but the quality of their plants seems good…read more The selection of plants is good if you are looking for 5 gallon size and up. The owners, and the people working there are all real nice. It's more of a professional nursery as opposed to a retail set up, there are no prices marked, and they don't have a checkout, accessories, cute garden statues or anything like that. What I do see is customers with their landscapers looking at plants for their projects. The nursery has a "California Nursery Stock Certificate" for Interstate/intrastate travel. This means that their plant material and premises has been inspected and found to be free of serious plant pests and diseases. (I got that off of their receipt) I guess their plants also automatically pass those out of state inspection places on the road. I know they have those inspections because, one was happening on the day I went there. I'm guessing that's a good thing. The office is just a trailer with some concrete blocks and plywood for steps going into it - watch your step! Why am I a fan? Here's why -- for the last 2 years they have generously loaned us the plants to decorate the stage for the graduation ceremony at the school where I teach. I pick out what I want (I fill my entire truck bed with plants); even some 15 gallon palms to frame the stage. I keep them overnight, we use them for the graduation in the morning, and I return them in the afternoon. They help several other schools with this as well - and they never ask for anything in return, not even credit in the program! Also, they help load and unload the truck. That's awesome, so if you have the need for plants and are in this area, stop by and check them out, maybe at least to say "thanks" for helping out the area's schools!

This nursery has mostly outdoor plants and stuff that'd be great for your yard like fruit trees…read more There are some plants like the snake/sanseveria that you can have inside, but i would say this is mostly for outdoor. We got a very cute little money tree for $10 inside a cute pot! We went to another nursery and saw the same size trees/smaller than the ones at Temple for about the same price but sold without a nice ceramic pot, so this was definitely a better buy here. We also got this really cute little bamboo that was also sold within a nice ceramic pot for about $10. When we got to the register we saw the same bamboo in the same pot behind the register, but it looked healthier. I said to my boyfriend, "Do you think we should ask to get that one instead?" The cashier overheard and grabbed the nicer bamboo and got it ready for us! He even grabbed some of the stalks from the other bamboo plant we originally grabbed and transplanted it into our new pot to give us even more/make it look bigger and nicer. Again, he did all this without us even asking or saying anything so this was super nice!! They also have cheap pots here that are very traditional chinese looking with the painted flowers and birds. We bought a beautiful pot for only $9 here with a cute little drip tray that almost looked like a teacup saucer at restaurants. They also had some $3 small pots that would be great for succulents. The pots were kinda dirty and covered in spiderwebs, but honestly the price was good and they were still in great condition so i didnt care LOL They had some funny little animal pots too with frogs and elephants. This place was cute and affordable and the staff was nice to us, so id go back again! Just wish i had a yard so i could get some of these fruit trees! Parking was easy. They have a little lot, but the spots are a little tight. It wasn't an issue, though! They also take credit card here.
