I want to like these guys, however... I reserved a small tractor two weeks in advance. When the day came for them to deliver they informed me my rental wasn't available. They offered to upgrade me to a larger unit that was missing some functionality. I agreed. I had to call for pickup early to avoid additional service charges when a tire came off the rim. It was apparently under inflated. There were indications that the setup was rushed when they couldn't deliver the tractor I reserved, turns out that the box scraper was apparently installed improperly and didn't work well. I paid for a whole week but only had it for 5 days due to no fault of my own. read more

I was on standby to begin an underground electrical project because I didn't yet have the assortment of components needed. For an hour or so I had searched online sites for several of those components to no avail. I called Karl's Hardware without great hope (thinking, "How would a smaller, local store compete with the bigs regarding product availability."), and boy was I wrong. They had nearly everything per my "wish list" and beyond that offered better variety (e.g., in lengths of electrical wiring) than the big stores. Even still, while I was indeed amazed with the inventory, that wasn't the best part. It was Aubern that took my initial call and met me in person as I arrived. She very proactively found almost everything with a problem-solving-can-do spirit. She located items quickly, coordinated with other staff to confirm specs, found alternatives for the rare item or two that wasn't in stock, and helped me find my most cost-effective bundle of parts when all was said & done. This little hardware store is awesome! They absolutely have always had what I needed, even when I was skeptical that they wouldn't. Very friendly and knowledgeable service. They do get busy at time so you just have to be patient sometimes, but their service out weighs the bigger stores like HD and Lowe's. This is definitely my go to hardware store. read more

I've tried on several occasions in the last two weeks to enter the gun room. Every time, the door is locked or "he may be out to lunch". Even after coming back hours later, he's still at lunch. Crowded merchandise, can't find anything! Asked clerk behind counter, 'Where could I find a putty knife?' Clerk 'Go to last aisle, turn left to back wall. It's somewhere on that wall.' Spent about 5 minutes walking up and down that wall, never found that putty knife. Went back to counter, no one there! Better luck and less time consuming to drive to Lancaster and hit Home Depot or Lowe's! read more

The service in the nursery was very helpful. The plants were in poor shape but I found what I needed. The prices for potting soil were fair.

When the kind people at the Jeep dealership did not replace a bolt on our skid plates properly, I found myself calling all over the AV to find a replacement. With each call, I grew more frustrated and thought I was going to have to get online to special order it. Finally, Fastenal recommended I try Karl's. I had to laugh because I was willing to drive 50 miles south to find a part that could very well be within a mile or so of me. I arrived at Karl's, my friendly neighborhood hardware store where I frequently rent tools (saws, hammer drills, etc.) and buy supplies including Borax for those pesky ants, and found my way to the helpful guys in the back by the guns. I explained my dilemma and without missing a beat, one of them walked with me out to my car, got under the Jeep to see what we needed, and then proceeded to find the bolt and washers amid the giant wall of hardware. Since the last reviewer brought the Shooting subject up, this place used to sell guns also , and the area used by all the local shooting enthusiasts just happened to be located on a piece of desert property the owner of this store owned part of. Just recently he stopped selling guns and Now he has posted all the property around the shooting area as CLOSED NO TRESPASSING Guess it was okay when he sold the guns to most of us who shot out there ! As for hardware they have everything under the sun there, if no one else has it then you will find it there! Service is at an Exceptional level and price well lets say at the price of fuel now a days for small purchases its about what you would expect. Amazing selections of hardware, and more than the big chain hardware stores I have come to dislike. This place usually has it from rentals, power equipment, nuts & bolts of all types, keys made, hand tools, power tools, plumbing parts, electrical parts..and Guns & Ammo. The gun store was closed while they waited for another permit but it is open and better than ever before. The best part is when you ask someone if they have a certain item..they don't repeat back what you said and stare stupidly like Home Depot, they answer right back where and get you someone to help you with it. The hardware store in Mojave is theirs too and good thing. Plus there is another one down the east bound 58 owned by them. After giving the folks at Karl's hardware my full faith and credit--then spending a few thousand dollars, I fell in love with the attitude of these guys. Gone for me were the Home Depot and Name a Big Box days of poorly trained and incompetent boobs. By choosing to drive, however, the nearly 50 mile round trip it takes to get to and from my farm to Karl's, I knew I'd have a substantial investment of my time invested each time I needed something. With that I'm mind I went ahead and made a few--okay, something like 5 round trips--to get my brand spanking new, DR Power chipper/shredder, repaired. First it was the intake manifold weld breaking, causing the manifold to literally "fly off" while operating the machine one early morning. Needing it fixed right away, I chose to spend $400 and have the team at Karl's fix it, rather than "wait" for the warranty work to be done. Okay, shit happens. I get that. I run manufacturing companies all over the country. Then, after spending two more trips and another $400.00 on my $900.00 new unit--which, because of Tom's original commitment to help me going forward, I actually gave Karl's an extra $100.00 over the price they were selling it for, the weld cracked on the exhaust manifold. Voila! Another flying manifold! Another discover of another cracked weld from my new piece of shit. An "American designed," "CHINESE manufactured and sourced," horrible piece of engineering and workmanship. Cool, I thought. I get to drive another 50 miles to get this brand new piece of shit fixed. This time, rather than pay out of pocket again for warranty work, I told Tom he could have the unit for a week while he waited for the warrantied parts. Oh, did I fail to mention that after six to seven weeks I still hadn't received the parts for the new chipper next set of blades/hammers that I had to order, because the "brand new" blades on the "brand new" DR POWER, CHINESE MAnUFACTURED and sourced POS wore down over the 6 months I used the unit? After bringing the unit it, I told Karl's to please fix everything while I was out of town. But when I returned, not a creature was stirring at Karl's, not even a mouse. I guess they "forgot to order" any parts for the poor little chipper/shredder. I'd have to wait some more time to get back. Neat! I love waiting. "Not okay!" I said to Karl's over the phone. "Tough shit," they fired back, "there's nothing we can do." So now I'm without my machine for nearly three weeks, waiting on parts fir two significant repairs, and have heard that Little Bo Peep has indeed lost her sheep and has no idea where she's put them. I've heard zero, zilch,nada. No call, no update, no word on when I'll have to drive my last 50 mile round trip ever to Karl's Hardware in Rosamond. It will also be the last DR Power unit to set foot on my family farm. Gone forever in my mind are the brands of both Karl's and DR Power. Don't bother buying anything from either brand. They've lost their way and forgot where they put it. As for DR POWER, you'd be completely out of your mind to buy anything made, designed, or built by these manufacturing clowns. I run manufacturing companies, I've seen these charlatans masking around as "American manufacturers" before. They wrap their brand around Made in the USA, then source and build everything from, name your favorite Chines, Korean, Vietnamese country. Don't waste your time with these knuckleheads. Not many choices in Rosamond. The previous times I have to say I was shocked by the high prices. Today, however, takes the cake. Went in to pick up a tape measure. Yes, it was absurdly overpriced. But I just recently found out they offer a military discount. GREAT, that will take the sting out a bit. However, when I look at my receipt it reads "Military Discount 5% 0.00" Sorry, but if you claim to offer a discount, then do it. Otherwise, don't bother. I don't appreciate being gouged by astronomical prices AND lied to about a military discount. read more

I called them today and let them know I was willing to drive quite a long distance (from San Fernando Valley) to purchase a firearm. The lady on the phone was not helpful and very rude. Stating "the only way you can find out what we have in stock is to drive out here". Really?! And many times purchasing less than I would have at Home Depot. They have what you need, it will fit, and function correctly. I have been shopping at this business since 1978 I want in yesterday I needed a clamp so I brought one took it home a found out I couldn't use it because it was to small ...so I went in today and wanted a refund I was told that its a tool and they don't give refunds on tools ..this is when the clerk moved some items on the counter that was covering this notice that they don't give refunds on tools ..there is no posted notice anywhere saying this for the customer to see ..so how is a customer to know??? The rental prices are reasonable. Definitely the place to go when you have questions about something or only need 5 nails to finish a project. My husband loves their gun section. I've been shopping there since 1984. In that time, there's only been six times that I walked in and didn't have what I needed. I've probably been in there hundreds of times. They've got it all. Rental yard and gun store inside as well. Recommend to ask for assistance as you come in as it's packed from floor to ceiling with the north wall layered with multiple sliding panels. Reminds me of an old country store. If I'm not in a hurry, I'll just roam the store looking at the higher storage locations to see what they packed in there. Sometimes slightly higher costs that Lowe's/Home Depot, but it's less expensive for me if I figure the time and gas spent to go get it in Lancaster,as I live in Rosamond. Carl's hardware is little gem in Rosamond. There are always lots of employees to help you out. Plus they have heavy equipment to rent, a nice nursery, and of course guns and ammo. They do have a slumber department down the street and they will deliver lumber to you. This place is so convenient instead of driving to the big number stores in the valley.
