If I could possibly give negative stars, I really would. I tell Ed that I never want to work with Dewey Pest Control ever again and he tries to get me to stay by offering multiple options - variations of "we'll credit you one month of service!" to "we'll change your technician!" No, Ed. I don't think you understood me when I said the first time around that I /NEVER/ want to work with Dewey again. Not only do I need to yell at someone or say that I will cancel in order to get a house treatment like the services paid for, but I receive a bill before I even get the service. Oh, also, did I mention that there was a $75 cancellation fee that I wasn't informed of ahead of time? Yeah, there's that, too. I called the billing office to ask what's up with the invoice and ask to cancel. They tell me they can't cancel the service because it's set up for a full year. I tell them I'll cover the cancellation fee and this girl tells me that she /CANNOT/ cancel and that I have to talk to the technician. The technician who only came by to pick up a check and didn't do a service - how can I even trust a guy like that?! I talk to Ed again and he asks why I want to cancel. Not sure if I've already highlighted how poor the service and the experience was overall, but I gave that man an earful. Had to call multiple times to cancel. Just today, got off the phone with Grace that said she'll send out the cancellation billing even though I called 3 business days ago to do that already. Watch out for this company. Having recently acquired a rental property in the city of Whittier, I've gotten familiar with this particular branch of the organization quickly as I worked to establish a new account. We've already had an existing working relationship with other branches over the years, so would we expect anything less!?: The Company - Founded by Ray M. Dewey in 1929, it began as a one-man operation that has since flourished into an organization of hundreds of technicians, crew workers, inspectors, fumigators, and office personnel. In 1977, Steven R. Dewey purchased the company from his father. Today, this family-owned business has 32 branches throughout California. They offered a slew of pest control services based on one's needs. Standard Monthly Service ($51.00) - This chosen service treated the given property once a month for general pest control of a myriad of critters (ants, mice, roaches, spiders, silverfish, etc.) which included up to two units, any laundry and storage rooms, and the entire exterior. Sadly, this didn't include bedbugs or bees which were expensive separate charges. This specific service was just right for the particular 8-unit complex this branch covered. Be advised, there was a one-time clean-up initiation fee of $125.00. Service - From the time I called and usually spoke with one of the many friendly and helpful Customer Service Reps. (especially Grace) at the end of the previous month to schedule treatment for the following month to having dealt with the technician the date of the treatment, everyone along the way has been easy to work with and professional. When you made an appointment, you were usually given a 2-hour courtesy window, which wasn't bad at all. A special acknowledgement went to Joe who would be the primary Technician for this property since we started a couple months ago. His affable, cheerfulness, efficiency yet attention-to-details (his service calls lasted between 10-20 minutes total), extremely informative knowledge, and patient demeanor were always appreciated. Overall, although Baldwin Park's Dewey Pest Control branch has only served my family for a couple months, and I was impressed top to bottom with everyone I've dealt with, and enough couldn't be said about Joe the Technician. Sure, there were potentially cheaper options elsewhere - and probably could've stayed with the previous pest control company - but whenever possible I liked to support small family-owned businesses, and I've already had exceptional service with other technicians. We had the worst ANT PROBLEM! First time Michael came out, I called back after a week. The second time was a little longer, called back after 3 weeks. The third time he came, I freaked out after he left. There were sooo many ANTS! I had to call him. He said not to worry, that's what he wanted! He did tell me before he left, that he found the nest. He told me that I need to wait about a week. If we still see the ants, to call. Well, no need! BEWARE: If you are a regular paying customer that expects service regularly. I have been a paying customer of Dewey for almost ten years. I had not received service since July 21, and it is now December 21 and was trying to get service before the year ended. I have paid every month of this year. When I called, they told me that they had canceled my account because I have not had service, even though I had paid all along. They told me they had tried to contact me for service which was NOT true. They told me they had tried to come out to service but that was NOT true, as I work from home and am here every day with ring cameras. Noone ever showed up. They told me they emailed me but I could not find an email and when I asked them to produce one for me, they told me that they changed systems and could not show me. They wanted to charge me $200 to start up a new account even though I paid every month to date. I DO not wish this type of service on anyone. Don't waste your money with these people. They are not customer-friendly and have terrible customer service. DO NOT USE THIS service. There are many others out there that are less expensive and that are customer friendly. read more

Currently on their every other month service and there seems to be issues with the service every time. Had an appointment from 10-12 today. Called at 11:45 and was told that the technician was running behind schedule and would be here at 1pm. I know they are late because they aren't here. A simple phone call at 11 would be nice. On previous appointments, asked to be called before the technician arrived to make sure our dog is inside to get the backyard treated and no phone call and the no treatment because the dog was present. Every time I call the office, I'm told they will make notes for the technician. Seems like the technicians don't read the special notes. I did not seem to have the same experience as others with this company. I wanted to order service for my home, so they said they would charge per quarter for a quarterly service, and that the first service would be a bit more. I agreed and scheduled for them to spray my home inside and out. As such, I would have to be out of the house, so I would have to take my baby to my parents home for the day while I went to work. Then the problems started. First, they came Tuesday, the day before they were scheduled. I informed them that it wasn't possible for them to perform service as I still had the baby home with the in-laws. They agreed to come back Wednesday, when they were supposed to come in the first place. My father in-law was the only one home on Wednesday, so that he could let them in. Then I received a call stating that I would have to pay BEFORE the service was performed. Had they informed me of that sooner, I would have left cash there with my elderly father in-law. So they refused to do the service that day and agreed to come again on Thursday. On Thursday I had my father in-law ready with the payment, baby out of the house, and expected the service to go smoothly. When I got home from work my father in-law informed me no one had showed up. When I called Dewey at 5:30pm, they told me they would send someone in an hour. They weren't able to come between 9am and 11am because there was an emergency at a commercial location. To begin with, I find it hard to believe there was a "pest control emergency". I'm guessing I got put on the back burner because they did not want to lose a larger commercial account. Worst pest control people Ever. We paid monthly service on 6 rental properties my family owned. At 2 properties, they got hit with roaches 6 mos AFTER these guys had started. Another property had bees start a hive in one of the walls. In all properties, 24hr survellience of common areas proves they Never Once showed up...but you know what did? Their bill. They even threatened to report me the credit bureau when I brought up why I believed we shouldn't have to pay their bogus charges And continued to charge after I had cancelled multiple times over the phone, then email, and finally through certified mail. If you own a business or commercial property, keep looking. These guys are not the "it" guys you want to turn to when you need work done, unless you're just looking for some tax write offs.
