If only there were 0 stars... believe the worst reviews you read about this company. I wish I had because the worst happened to me! The owner, Eric, wrote a contract to move my entire house for a flat rate for an out of town move. There was one large piece of furniture that he said might not fit on the truck and I said if it didn't fit we'd leave it. No mention of any other concerns. His truck got full well before that piece but instead of getting another truck they announced they were leaving the remaining furniture/belongings in the house and told me it was my problem and I would have to pay for additional services. Out of desperation to get the contents of my house moved, I offered to pay to rent an additional truck. The supervisor said yes, but Eric said no, that I would have to pay more money and wait 3-4 weeks to get the rest of my belongings. The price he quoted to get the few remaining items was over 50% of the original estimate. Extortion!! This was all a setup to get more money out of me. I had no time to argue with them because my closing was in less than a week. (And he knew this) I rented a truck myself and picked up the rest of my belongings but it was 8 hours of driving to do so... this was a NIGHTMARE! Deceptive practices and dishonest owner! The packer and 2 of the 3 movers were great except for one that did damage to a doorway while moving into my brand newly renovated home and complained a lot. The owner of Devries promised to send somebody out to repair the damage that was done but over 2 weeks later not a word from Devries. It was a local move, 3 miles down the road (6 Minutes) yet they charged me for an hour of travel time. read more

DeVries did an amazing job. Eric came in to estimate and provided us with a realistic cost and offered to drop off boxes in advance for our portion of the self pack. We took advantage of their friendly service. Moving day went off exactly as planned. The crew were "Rock Stars"! They were extremely professional and worked hard to cater to our personal needs and requests. Angela runs the office and provides excellent communication. Who kidding who. Moving is no fun, but DeVries made our experience as good as it gets. I highly recommend DeVries! read more

They started out awesome. Ashley was very helpful and prompt answering questions we had about the quote and the move. Moving day came and they were great moving everything out of the house we sold-- very careful and courteous too. When they arrived at the new house to unload, they were the same courteous crew but unfortunately were NOT as careful. They had a few accidents that damaged some of our pieces-- one that was completely irreparable and irreplaceable-- a very large, handmade Greek terra cotta pot. They didn't take their time trying to figure out the best way to move it over an uneven portion of the porch and slam dunked it on to the porch instead. It completely shattered. According to the head guy on the job, the item should have been prepped differently for the move. However neither Eric nor Ashley said anything about it to us in all our discussions before moving day. Nor did they go over our insurance options, which seems strange since they were moving some items that probably are not routine items. It does have a small paragraph on the contract, but I trusted them and thought they had our best interests in sight from the communications we had before the move. Basically no one cares about your stuff. It doesn't hurt them if they break it. They were VERY willing and prompt to pay out their cheap insurance coverage which amounted to $63 for over $1000 worth of damaged and unrepairable property. That's just not ok. Why should they be careful? Most of The guys who worked the job were trying hard (except for one who could've cared less-- he ran over and broke a sprinkler with a piece of furniture and didn't bother to fess up until I saw it and asked them about it. He tried to fix it but couldn't so that was another thing we had to take care of.) He was lazy the entire day too. I feel bad for the guys who tried to work hard leaving a bad review, but I cannot in good conscience let my experience go without notice to others who may be considering DeVries. They talked a great game, started out on point, and failed miserably in the end. Maybe it will be different for you, but i suggest you don't trust them with large, valuable, breakable items. read more

Although DeVries is the local agent, I would like to point out to other consumers that Wheaton World Wide Moving is the predominant party with which you will be dealing. Our experience with DeVries/Wheaton as a whole was not a positive one, and if anything, it caused us more stress, not to mention a missed flight back home, and further financial expense. I have submitted a formal complaint to BBB as a result of the poor logistics and execution with which our cross-country move (with pets!) was handled. I wished that I would have been more savvy in researching the other reviews before hiring them. Please look elsewhere for a mover/carrier if you value your time, peace of mind, and pocketbook. read more

If you care about your personal belongings, I urge you not to contract with Devries Moving & Storage of Jupiter! Terrible experience, and I will be contacting an attorney to recover my losses. My furniture and household items were stored at Devries facility for about a year, in a supposedly climate-controlled space. When Devries moved everything into my new house, we encountered the following problems: --The movers did not protect the new carpet, resulting in serious stains and soiling --There was extensive moisture damage to the diningroom table --Several pieces of furniture were damaged --Several boxes are missing --75% of the pieces to a $5,000 chandelier are missing --The beds were improperly assembled The damage to the furniture far exceeds the amount of the moving bill. Eric Devries, the owner, is refusing to take responsibility for the damages. read more

I had DeVries move my larger pieces of furniture into my storage unit today in Jupiter. Yesterday, the owner Eric came out and provided me a quote. The movers this morning showed up on time (actually a little early) and were friendly and did a great job. Everything was wrapped up nicely and moved without any damage to my furniture or walls. They took everything and unloaded it to my storage unit and organized it neatly. The cost matched the quote I was given the day before. Would use them again. read more

Worst move of more than 15+ I've had. 3 days of packing went ok. Day 1 of two days of moving went ok, the last day was a nightmare and because everything wasn't packed another half day was added. The move was from one home to another just 5 miles away. The problems....each day we had at least one crew member different. Not a big deal except each time it was the crew Forman. Second problem, even the crew didn't know who would be there the next day as evidenced by them telling us that they would be there and then not showing up. Third, on the "last moving day" the reduced the crew by one member from 4 to 3 and one was told she was to be a packer. She was not there to carry heavy loads thus really reducing the team by two. Realizing early on this was going to be a problem, I called Eric Devries to ask for more support. I did this also at the suggestion of his team. I reached his assistant and I asked her to have Eric call me. No call back occurred all day. I called again around 5 pm when I realized this was going to be a very long night if these people didn't get help and I didn't want to miss the closing of the office. Again I reached Eric's assistant. Again I left a message to call me. One of the team even gave me Eric's cell, which he didn't answer and the messages were full. So my wife and I pitched in and proceeded to unload the truck for the next 5 hours. I also jumped the truck when it's battery failed and ultimately found that several items were left behind because they didn't have sufficient packing materials or space in the truck. Where was Eric?? Well, I was able to speak to him finally at 10:00 pm when the truck was unloaded. How did that happen?? I told his crew that I wasn't paying the bill that night as there were items left behind so the move was not complete. Further, I was pissed that my wife and I had to help move for five hours when I was paying his business to do it. Eric miraculously answered his phone and wanted to talk to me. I didn't pay until the job was complete. And I'm still pissed that my wife and I had to help to get the job done. I attribute the failure to poor planning and poor leadership.. I would highly recommend you steal away from these movers till they can assure you corrections have been made to both the planning and leadership issues. read more
