Brooks, Moving and Haul is a rip off and they damage your items. I was scheduled to to move on 07/26. they sent 2 guys John and Michael. Michael was inexperienced and need guidance from John the entire time. John the "experienced" mover damaged my bed. First they don't wrap your furniture, he moved my couch with no protection when I asked him he said it's not needed, had my couch all over the floor of the elevator and then all the corners got damaged and ripped. it was reported someone was to get in touch and still have not heard from anyone. my bed was not reassembled incorrectly and he washed my screws so then I had to get a task rabbit to come in and help. Their truck leaked because it was raining and it damaged my headboard (it was soaking wet). They are a moving company and charges you for tape that they need to wrap the protection over your items. A 1 bdrm apartment that only had a bedroom set a sectional couch and a tv stand took 5 hours. there were no boxes to move. A $477 moved turned into over a 1K with damage and no follow ups. I would never recommend them and warn everyone to ignore the reviews on their website. they are all lies, notice your not able to leave a google review. Avoid This Company I'll start with the only positive: Ivana was wonderful. The initial consultation with her was professional, clear, and gave me confidence I was dealing with a competent company. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. Brooks Moving and Hauling turned out to be an absolute disaster. It was painfully obvious they intentionally moved at a snail's pace to inflate the hourly bill. The so-called "foreman," Ronny, spent most of the job on his phone. Zero leadership, zero urgency, and he wouldn't let the other two movers do anything without his approval, which meant three people standing around while time (and money) burned. We specifically requested that beds be dismantled and reassembled. Despite that, I had to argue with the dispatcher just to get the bed frames put back together. After the move, I had to follow up to address these issues, and Nikita said she would get back to me--but never did. No accountability, no resolution, just silence. Only after emailing and her calling her back did I suddenly pop back into her memory. Nice! They claimed it was "reasonable" that it took 7.5 hours for three men to move only large items (beds, couches, tables, etc.). For context: our previous move took 6 hours and included every single item, from the 17th floor to the 2nd floor. This move was just large items from the 2nd floor to the ground floor. The comparison speaks for itself. To make it even worse, Ronny destroyed our bed frame during reassembly. He rushed the job, didn't even screw the pieces in properly, and left me with a bag of unused hardware. The bed is damaged and unstable--see the photos attached for proof. Aside from Ivana, this company was unprofessional, inefficient, and dismissive when problems were raised. Do Not Use Brooks Moving & Storage -- They Held Our Belongings Hostage This was by far the worst and most unethical moving experience I've ever had. Brooks Moving & Storage quoted us a move at $539/hour for 2-4 hours -- with no mention of a flat rate (which they later admitted could have saved us significantly). Their movers stayed over 12 hours and still didn't finish the job, forcing us to extend our stay at our old home and costing us $1,446 in additional housing. Then came the final insult: They refused to deliver the rest of our belongings unless we paid an extra $2,900 on the spot. We were held hostage. That's not an exaggeration -- they had our furniture on the truck and wouldn't unload it until we paid the surprise charge under duress. This is coercion, plain and simple. To top it off, multiple items were damaged or destroyed: collectible Xbox games, a broken couch, desk, table, and cabinets. We haven't even finished unpacking yet and keep finding more. When I researched further, I discovered multiple reviews describing the exact same tactics -- dragged-out hours, surprise fees, broken belongings, and holding property hostage. This is not an isolated incident. It's a business model built on deceit and intimidation. If you're reading this to help decide whether to use them: DON'T. I hired Forward Van Lines in April 2022 to handle my move from Washington, DC to Boca Raton, FL. Due to delays with my new home, I arranged for my belongings to be stored with them for over two years (April 2022 to August 2024). Throughout this time, I paid regular storage fees and the final delivery fee when my items were delivered. When my belongings were finally delivered in August 2024, a valuable box containing artwork worth over $5,000 (including an original John Lennon piece) was missing. I contacted Forward Van Lines to resolve the issue, but they couldn't explain what happened to the missing items, nor could they provide proof of delivery. After multiple attempts to follow up, they stopped responding entirely. To make matters worse, I discovered that the delivery fee had been charged under the name Brooks Moving and Hauling, which, as it turns out, is the same company as Forward Van Lines. Despite this connection, neither company has taken responsibility or provided any assistance in resolving my issue. I have had to file chargebacks and seek legal action to recover part of the money I paid. This company has demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. I've a long distance move. When "C" answered the phone, he asked me for an inventory list, so he could quote me an accurate price. I said; "I don't have that yet, it's a 1 BR, 500' apartment with not a lot of furniture. Probably 65-75 boxes. He was insistent, a bully, could not give me a ballpark, and he was rude. A couple of weeks later, after I'd already hired a company and had my inventory list, I thought I'd give them a final shot, because it's always helpful to be informed, and check off all of your boxes regarding possibilities that may or may not work. "C" came back to me with a price that was over 2x what every other moving company quoted. Dishonest and extremely poor service provided. Not recommended. After reading their reviews, I booked the company Brooks Moving and Hauling (also part of Forward Van Lines) for survey of my apartment. The people involved and I spoke to were: John Hamilton, Christian Skiperdene, Guy Maman, Christal Robertson. I am providing these names as they were all involved in my move management and were responsible for the epic fail and horrible service provider. Here are some of the points where I feel I was misled, and ever overchanged despite the initial pac ist estimate and work contract mentioning the costs signed. 1-) Survey was done by Chris Skiperdene. He reviewed my whole apartment in person and my storage cage. There was total transparency from my end from day 1. He provided me a detailed survey report with costs estimates. After several competitor surveys I carried out after Chris, I decided to go with Brooks as they promised a "worldclass" service with no compromise in quality despite the fact they came out pricier than other providers. On of the most I professional aspect of Brooks was always asking for other companies quotes and breakdowns (actual preliminary contracts) to adjust or revise their quotes. 2-) Day of move: was a Saturday after July 4th. I agreed as they couldn't give me my initially asked days Monday and Tuesday 7-8July. Despite making myself available on Saturday, the team that arrived was totally not prepared. I was helping them pack, give active guidance as they were total amateurs and looked like they had really never packed or moved items before. First day it self they broked few furniture pieces. Later at the end of the day when I went to do a full survey, I realised they had only packed my stuff in blanket and not cardboard boxes. They owned up and said they thought it was a local move and not international. The guidance and request was very clear from the time of survey and signing of contract. 2-) after apologising and wasting 1 full day, they started on Monday to do damage control and were ready to relive all blankets. To save them time and day, I asked them to keep the blankets on and now cover them with cardboard for sea freight compliant. The guys agreed. Guy Maman and John Hamilton were notified of this mess. Guy came over to my apartment to check what could be done to expedite and damage control. And promised he had moved internationally several times. 3-) The team took 6days instead of 2 to finishing packing and moving it to local storage intermittently. Worst even, after 6 days, they still left some of my belongings in the apartment and left trash inside the empty apartment instead of cleaning it as agreed. Again I raised a complaint and they said they missed it and can collect it from the apartment but I had already vacated the apartment. The apartment building penalised me for trash inside the apartment left by Brooks. 4-) the storage I had rented at Cube smart, they could have taken more than 2 trips. When I asked them, they tried to save the money and left my belongings in the truck for 3 days in Florida peak summer heat and humidity (including my artwork and antiques and some food). I later found out, They wanted to keep the truck as a basis for last payment from me before releasing it to storage. In anyxase they had to do 3-4 trips due to bad planning and estimating and bringing a smaller truck. 5-) finally they called me and gave me the big shock. Then quote and cost had trebled. They charged me for their inefficient management and slow as a slug job and use of blankets on day 1. When I argued that we had a contract of agreed price, they refused to deliver my belongings to the storage. Ultimately i agreed to pay twice the quote as I feared the loss and further damage they would cause if I didn't. 6-) I had rented 1 big 20x10ft unit for my belongings based on my discussion with storage company but also with Guy Maman. That estimate was argued by their main moving lead guy on the job (not naming him). But sadly I listened to him as he told me has moved so many times, he knows how big or small is the space. So I rented more units to store rest of my belongings from apartment. Once again, thank you, in the day of move to storage, when I went to storage to inspect, I found they had not used half Of the 20x10ft storage due to lack of common-sense as that unit had two doors not one. So missed the other half. Surprising given they should have guessed the unit was not 20x10ft to begin with. They had only used 10x10ft of the big unit. So I asked to move the other rented unit stuff to this half empty 20x10ft unit. The staff refused to move and asked me to talk to management. When I complained to John and Guy, nothing happened. In the end they are only after money. They don't care about your belongings. Won't recommend it to anyone. Stay away. Get some one more professional for peace of mind. read more

I got radio silenced for hours until they said it will come when it comes. Then the truck was broken and only one person came to move the stuff when I paid for multiple people. I had 3 companies quote me in person, and this one did not. Rates quoted for moving me two buildings away with no big furniture (bed, dining, living) were from $470-$560, and was guaranteed that the work could be done in two hours. The quote included truck, travel time and 2-3 men. However, I needed to move that Friday and they could not accommodate me. I went with Brooks moving with a phone estimate of $597 (gave me a $50 discount upon asking), 3 men and a truck, and had a sense from them it would be done in 2 hours. Moving out was extremely slow process. At one point, I was just waiting for them and could not find them and then went to the truck. One of the men unfortunately was extremely slow, older and could not lift, move as quickly. I was told they could not unload till I paid, and they charged me an extra hour because it took longer. The unloading was quicker because I was upset. Plus it took several calls and emails for them to provide the right insurance. Should have done my research before hiring them. I will not hire them again, and do not recommend them. Do your due diligence. read more

I used brooks moving company to move from miami to Jupiter. The movers themselves did a good job, other than taking some of my hard alcohol and putting it into drinks that I gave them. Upon completion of my move, I had a solid marble side table that was broken in the move and even had full responsibility taken with the movers themselves when they saw the broken furniture. Because of the photo I took, the moving company denied breaking this piece when it went to claims. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I paid $10,000 for a full service relocation from Florida to Tennessee with Brooks Moving and Hauling in July 2023, and what I received was nothing short of embarrassing from a company who calls themselves professional. While the loading at the origin went smoothly, everything beyond that time was nothing short of a disaster. Brooks failed to provide any labor at the destination which resulted in me unloading my own truck and reassembling all furniture that was disassembled by Brooks. Furthermore, my dining room table was damaged while on the truck. While I can recognize that issues occur during moves, the way Brooks handled this issue was irresponsible and unethical at best. From the moment I notified Brooks of the issue, the Customer Service rep (Theresa) was combative and immediately defensive. I simply requested enough of a refund to replace my damaged dining room table ($1,800). I was told that Brooks could offer a $500 refund for the damage which was beyond any legal obligation as I did not choose a full valuation protection (To be clear, I was never formally offered the full valuation protection, however it is listed in the agreement which I did sign). I believe this to have been a woefully inadequate adjustment to a $10,000 move where no service was provided at the destination, and I asked to speak to the owner (John). To this day, John has refused to speak to me on the phone and simply listen to my experience with any level of understanding. Upon further escalation of the issue, Brooks revised their offer to $1,000 which was contingent upon me signing a document that prohibited me from leaving any review of the company on any platform. I refused to sign the document as I will not stand by and let anyone else become a victim of a company that treats their customers this way. The issue could have been resolved by simply replacing a damaged table, and I would have been satisfied. Brooks will not honor their settlement offer since I am unwilling to relinquish my right to post a review. Brooks states that their contract covers "labor issues" and therefore I was not due any refund as a result of services not provided. Be warned, they will do the same to you, and I implore anyone reading this review to get your relocation needs elsewhere. As someone who has relocated nine times in the past ten years, this was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever had, and the fact that Brooks advertises a business built on customer service and integrity is laughable. My sister hired Brooks Moving & Hauling to move her from Indiana to Florida. She's not one to post reviews, but the experience was so good that they deserve a share. She wasn't having success with Indiana movers, so they contacted Brooks based on a friend's recommendation. The team from Brooks was great throughout the entire process. They were available to answer questions prior to the move and did a final walk-through via facetime a few days before to make sure they brought all of the needed supplies. On moving day, Jeff and Jake showed up on schedule. After a quick walk-through I heard them strategizing how they were going to load the truck to ensure that everything possible could fit. (She underestimated how much she had, which I understand is a common issue) The two of them didn't slow down all day, except for lunch because we insisted, and they couldn't have been more pleasant and professional. Based on how the truck was loaded, it was apparent that they knew how to maximize space. Jeff and Jake were joined by Trevor a few days later in Florida to unload. The experience was the same as loading day. All three of them were pleasant, professional and so efficient in their approach. I doubt if any move goes off without at least one glitch, and this was no exception, but the Brooks team was quick to communicate and resolved it without our involvement. The driver of the truck almost caused our vehicle to crash on the FL Turnpike NB mile marker 90 on Sunday 11/20 at 1pm, license plate starting with 57D. The truck driver was wreckless not only with our family but multiple times with others. Happy to speak to the company to discuss how they can prevent future wreckless driving by doing more safety training. I used them five times for moving during 2020/21. The first 3 we're fine but then there was a change in staff and numbers 4 & 5 moves were not good. They had a new hire who looked about 16 who was unconfident and clumsy. Always the owner wanted cash - some up front and the rest the day of, usually after the job was done. On move number 5 the guys broke a shelf clean off the wall and gouged out a couple walls. The owner became nasty when I asked that they fix these first before paying him. Told me the "law protected him" and if I didn't pay up they'd drive off with all our things. We ended up having to pay them before they would unload. It was painful to watch the young kid. They then made a half hearted attempt at fixing their damage - this was a rental so I bore the cost from the landlord. Stephen Brooks was disagreeable and nasty. I have a few more moves for my kids this year, but wouldn't ask them again - and he was mean enough to let me know he wouldn't be interested. I'd like to say that I have never felt it was appropriate to write a bad review in my life but I had to here. I don't think this is the same management with the same 5star review. The owners shady business practices are finally catching up to him, and lately, he's blaming it on a fictional name. I feel robbed of my hard earned money like I don't have three kids to feed. It's appalling how he's bullied me for "his money". I feel like I was getting threatened by a mobster. If you look at all his replies to distraught customers. It's about him covering his butt stating clauses in his contract that he made you sign to get what he deems his subpar business deserves. I'd love to see how he replies to save his own skin. Read his replies. Real backhanded. You don't see his true colors until it's time to pay up. I'd advise everyone to read the FINE PRINT. This guys a real arsehole. Overall pretty decent move. Excellent experience. Honest, caring movers at a very fair price. Veteran owned. Can't recommend them highly enough. They took great care with every item and both homes.
