Devocion used to be incredible but their quality has sadly declined a lot recently. The drip coffee has been so bad (burnt taste) I've dumped it and bought new ones elsewhere. And pour over is now very inconsistently offered. Often when I get to the front of a long line I'm told they're not doing it today. When I do get a chance to order it, the people working aren't excited to make it. I understand they take a while to make, but if the staff doesn't like making them, simply remove them from the menu. Hopefully they improve and I can start returning. I'll try again in a few months. read more

I was on one of my rare adventures to Brooklyn to check out the Smorgasborg and it got quite hot, so the lady and I decided to find a place to grab a cold drink. A quick Yelp search showed that Devocion was nearby, and the pictures made it look really nice, and my fiance had been wanting to try Devocion, so we made the short walk there. The first thing you notice upon entering is an almost spacious industrial look. When you get past the initial entry hallway, the space opens up into a large, spatious, naturally lit area. There is a large skylight, foliage and umbrellas around creating an interesting contrast between the industrial and the natural, and a good amount of seating. The prices at Devocion are quite good as well. I expected a place looking that nice to be on the more expensive end of cafes, but I was wrong. It helps explain why Devocion is popular. Good atmosphere, lots of space, free wi-fi during the week, and good prices. Even with all that space, the popularity makes it quite difficult to find a seat. Filled seats with a steady line of people ordering drinks means you need to be quick in grabbing the rare spot that opens up. It was hot so I was in the mood for some nice cold brew. The barista was quite friendly when I asked what the differences were between their few cold brew options (I am by no means a coffee expert even though I love to drink it). I went with The Connoisseur, which is Devocion's version of nitro cold brew. My fiance went with the Strawberry, Apple, Mint Aromatica. The cold brew was good, but I regret putting cream in it. Next time I will stick with plain cold brew. The Aromatica was a disappointment. I don't know what I was expecting, but it tasted like diluted fruit water; not very flavorful or refreshing. Overall, Devocion deserves a three star rating. The space is great, but that's about all. There are no real specialty drinks on the menu to set Devocion apart, and the standard drinks they do have are nothing special. Go here if you want a nice space with good prices, but not if you want to be wowed by what you're drinking. read more

I had been itching to try devoción for a while now but was never in the area. I arrived 5 min after they opened and there was a line already. That got me excited since it's always a good sign. Staff was helpful explaining the menu (did not know the honey latte was not made with honey but is actually the type of coffee/coffee bean?) Any way, I had a latte and it was so frothy and delicious. It had been a while since I had a coffee that tasty. I also tried the guava and regular croissant. Also, not to be dramatic but the best croissants I've ever had in my life. Very cozy place to drink your coffee! I will be here often! Location: It is in Williamsburg, the interior is very nice, with natural lighting, very cozy with their seats and sofas! Good for groups or by yourself! Nice plants inside the cafe, perfect for pictures! They also have machinery that shows how they grind the coffee! Service: Didn't really interact, its a order and go type. Food: TORO LATTE: really silky and coffee flavor. HONEY LATTE: coffee with the hint of honey. Nice latte art! Get some pastries as well! Devocion is so awesome because they roast their beans in their store front. It smells delicious once you walk in. Huge space with lots of seating to hang out indoor and outdoor! I love that they sell beans and they're all delicious. We tried their guava croissant which was so good, it wasn't overall sweet. Our go to drinks are cold brew, oatmilk latte, and their OJ. read more

Overpriced and overcrowded but the coffee here is on point. Not sure what it is with Colombian coffee but the flavor and aroma is unique and strangely satisfying. It's curiously smooth and goes splendidly with a buttery croissant. The space itself is aesthetically pleasing with a wall of greenery giving it an overall retro Artistic vibe. My only gripe is that they do not offer wifi on the weekends. Understandably it's a business and they have the highest foot traffic this time of the week and likely want to discourage people from occupying space for extended periods of time but considering the prices they charge this kinda comes off as stingy. read more

This is my favorite cafe in New York-- this location in particular (other locations in DUMBO and Flatiron). I understand that these may be fighting words, especially in a place like Brooklyn, but take a chance on my review and visit! It is hard not to feel claustrophobic in the city, but it is safe to seek refuge in Devocion's Williamsburg's spacious location. The exposed brick interior, natural lighting from the skylight, backdrop of greenery, and reliable/speedy WiFi inspire not only an Instagram story feature, but also a productive work day. That being said, I have only been able to grab seats on week day mornings. If, however, you wanted to pay a visit on a weekend, it may be a safer bet to To-Go & Sip, a couple paces West on Domino Park's waterfront. So onto what you are investing in: They boast their roast as the only company that roasts their coffee (in-house) after 10 days from leaving their Bogotá, Colombia origin. Their drips ($3.25), cold brews ($4.75), and lattes ($5) have all been rich and strong with flavor, but without the crippling acidity and heart palpitations. I have also tried their "Aromaticas", which is a Brazilian love affair of herbal tea and fresh fruit. I am not usually someone who enjoys tea, but the steeped fresh fruit and herbs amplified the taste in the most lovely way. I was recommended, by the barista, to try the Pear/Wildberry/Peach/Sweet Lemongrass concoction ($3.50). Although I usually gravitate towards coffee, when I re-visit at a time unsafe for caffeine, I will definitely purchase another Aromatica. P.S. I haven't come here in like 4 years, but the coffee was as good as I remember! I came on a Sunday around 1pm, and the cafe was entirely packed. I tried the iced latte with oat milk which was really smooth and refreshing but strong. Their iced teas are also really good and would recommend the apple spearmint one. read more

I've heard about Devocion for a long time and was thrilled that I finally got the chance to go. Devocion is a Colombian coffee shop with multiple locations throughout New York. I stopped by the Williamsburg location for an afternoon and had the most lovely experience. Their coffee was delicious - I got an iced latte and it passed the vibe check - being that it wasn't too milky and you could actually taste the flavor of the coffee. It was quite crowded on a Friday afternoon but I was able to snag a seat and never wanted to leave. The coffee shop has a ton of seating and is so warm, inviting, and cozy. I loved the couch in the middle on top of the rug with the plant wall in the background. Incredible vibes all around. I of course had to leave with coffee beans and they're some of the best that I've had in New York. I can't wait to return soon!! read more

Beautiful atmosphere, the live vegetation wall is breathtaking. Make no mistake, this coffee shop stays BUSY, so if you intend to stay and enjoy your drink be prepared to wait for a table/seat. I purchased a cortado and cheese chive croissant situation. The cortado was made perfectly (from a former barista) and the croissant was unlike anything I've ever had, straight blissful. A super cute coffee shop in Brooklyn just a street away from the water! We ordered a pumpkin bread slice, blueberry scone, 2 hot mochas, and one iced mocha. The iced mocha was definitely the best. The regular mochas didn't seem to have chocolate, but the coffee was still delicious. A place that would make me take the trek to Brooklyn for. It's in a quiet part of Williamsburg and you almost miss the sign! There's a long hallway before you enter the actual cafe part. Wooden furniture everywhere but super bright because of the open greenhouse type roof and a wall of just plants in the back. Small selection of drinks, and they serve pastries and a few toasts. Came at 8 on a workday and basically all the seats were taken with people working and there was a constant flow of customers. Ordered a cappuccino. Strong! I am a sucker for roof windows, industrial/exposed brick wall, green, faux plant wall that helps you pretend that you aren't living in the 6th mass extinction and that you AREN'T living in a very urban city that lacks foliage, ya know... the typical hipster aesthetics. And I got a cortado, which was really tasty, not bitter by any means. They serve the cortado is a glass that has Devocion's brand on it But y'all! The outlet situation is abysmal! They only have outlets on the sides of the walls, none in the center nor the back. I'm like damn, can white people gentrify efficiently? OMG, I love it here. This is def a place you can come to get work done. I do suggest, however, coming earlyyyy! By the time I arrived (around 11am) every single table was taken. I had to literally run across the shop when I saw someone putting their laptop in their bag preparing to leave. Lucky for me it was right next to an outlet too. Obviously come for the coffee not just to work. I ordered the carrot cake and an oat milk latte, both were divine! I contemplated ordering another latte but I didnt want to be wired all night on caffeine. I was there for about 7 hours. From 11am until 6pm. At 6pm it is less busy and still a great place to work. This was a magnificent coffee shop and I have heard so many great things. We went around 3:30pm and there was a small line to get coffee, but we took the time to take in the breathtaking interior! There's an incredible skylight that gives the whole place an amazing glow. There's also a beautiful wall of greenery in the back, adding even more to the whole place. I ordered the nitro cold brew which was good but not amazing. It did the trick however, and it only took about ten minutes of waiting for a table to open. We had a great time chatting over our coffees, and it was fantastic because the place never got too loud even with all the traffic in and out! So far nothing to say to bring down the perfect 5 star rating. Space is huge. I like that it is unassuming at the front-- all black with a tiny yellow sign up high. Once you open the door, you'll walk down a hallway that will open up to this huge spacious lounge area with great music and a casual inviting vibe. This Sunday morning it's mostly parents with babies and some like me here just to pick up a quick cup of joe. The Americano is smooth and tasty. This is definitely not Manhattan. I was really excited to try this place out. The interior is very cute and I love the cozy feeling yet it is still airy with the huge skylight. They didn't have many food options, and so I got the nitro cold brew and a regular croissant. The drink was probably the height of my index finger...and cost me $5. I was disappointed with how little I got, and coming from SF I am willing to pay for good quality coffee, but this tiny size was ridiculous and the coffee was alright. I will say the croissant was actually very delicious, I was sad they didn't have their chocolate ones in stock, but if I ever come back I would try that. This is a pretty good study spot as well, so if you live nearby you could check it out but I would not go out of my way for this coffee shop. read more

I decided on coming to the source after having a cortado made by a local vendor, Weekends, who use Devocion coffee. It was a last min decision passing by. I love the open windows to the roasting process as you walk in. Your senses are hit as you walk in the door with the aroma of fresh roasting coffee. Next you see an open window of the cupping in process! It's interesting seeing them and only usually seeing videos of it on the internet. I was really interested in their espresso machine they used but I felt like I would bother the barista by keeping much more of their time when I asked them what it was and couldn't understand through her accent what she was saying. It is the manual lever pull machine I recently learned about. I really enjoy the pull it gets and I'm intrigued by it! I will be looking it up more on my blog latteshots.com. The coffee was aesthetically please with beautiful art but I carried it out for my morning walk to explore the city. I definitely think it was better at the beginning of the hike rather than the later. The place was crowded and as I said, a little fast moving at 10:00am on a Thursday. I like Devocion. It has that hipster, elegant flare to it that you can't get from other boroughs or towns in Brooklyn. It's a "hidden gem" but... not really. It's a pretty popular place that gets overly crowded and loud. It's definitely not my top coffeeshop to go to but it's a great location to bring friends to if you can grab a seat or table. The interior is really why you come here: natural lighting, leather coaches, open-space seating, and vines and greenery on the walls. It's so different and pretty that it concours the overpriced coffee and sweets. I do love it. It's just not a go-to work space to bring the old laptop to. Drinks are great. I don't recommend the infused fruit drink, however... it's pricey and just that- water with fruits. Definitely try their strong coffees. They have a stamp card system if you are a regular. Wowza. I'm not even sure where or how to start this review. I walk into a large space. Wait a second. I walk in and first pass a huge coffee roaster. I then get to this huge common area. The roof has a massive skylight that lights up the entire spot. I see folks relaxing and sippin' java. Its like coffee nirvana up in here! I walk over to the register. There is a wall of glass cabinets that gives the register area an IKEA vibe. You can also see the huge roaster on the other side of the register. Listen, all this stuff sounds great. The big question is, how does the coffee taste? One word. Complex and Rich (I know its two words genius, relax!) Devocion has a coffee menu where they'll have two beans that are roasted on premise. Next, choose how you'd like them: Pour over, Latte, Espresso, Macchiato Now if you follow me on Yelp, you'll see when I'm in Long Island I check into Starbucks. Guess what? I "hate" Starbucks. Its a necessary evil when in Long Island. Long Island needs to open 300+ Devocions! This is how coffee should be prepped. Roasted on site with a choice of how you would like your coffee beverage The bean I chose was the Honey bean. The hipster barista is telling me the bean itself is grown around other plants so it will pick up the flavor characteristics. Great! Here's a tip, don't grow any near garlic... So I order a Dulce de leche Dough Donut (You can't fool me) and a honey bean latte. I sit down and notice the sun is strong in the middle of the dining room! Forget a tanning booth, I can drink my coffee and get tan! The coffee is spot on. Dough Donut is equally incredible.
