The contract process was straightforward and I appreciated the flexibility and payment structure based on project milestones rather than everything being front-loaded. After Moe's initial site visit and evaluation, it became clear that a more comprehensive rebuild approach for most of the structure made more sense than piecemeal repairs. Moe explained the long-term benefit of rebuilding the deteriorated portions together rather than replacing isolated components now and potentially dealing with additional mobilization and repair costs again a few years later. I called around 6:30 pm on July 2nd and I was told that the "dispatcher" will get in touch with me very soon, but nothing happened. I called again on July 3rd in the morning for up date. I was told again that the "Northwest Builders & renovation" will get in touch with me. This time, I got a call back from the company half an hour later, telling me: "The dispatcher can no longer do the job", without providing any reasons or explanations. If "Northwest Builders & renovation"can not even do the "visit/estimate" , how do you trust this company to do the job ? Comment : Not serious/not professional company.

I contacted Natan from Northwest Builders and Renovations in Walnut Creek to get a bid on a kitchen…read moreremodel project. I chose his company over the other one that bid the project because Natan gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing, especially for the part of the project that involved a load bearing wall. He is a hell of a salesman. He agreed that they could provide everything the other company had bid but this was not the case. When we met for the bid, Natan assured me that my kitchen remodel project would take two weeks and that the cost was firm. He told me I could have any cabinet finish and quartz I wanted. I even showed him a sample of what I wanted the cabinets to look like and he agreed. Once it was time to order the cabinets it turned out I only actually had a choice of 7 cabinet finishes and none of them were like what I had showed him. For context, both the other contractor I talked to and Home Depot had samples of the finish I wanted so it wasn't like I had chosen something outlandish. Timeline: They demolished my kitchen on May 11th and work was finally completed 6 weeks later. I would not have proceeded if I had known it would take that long. My kitchen, laundry, living room and garage were unusable the entire time. There were also boxes and other debris all over my deck as well as my dishwasher sitting out on the deck uncovered. I got up in the middle of the night when it rained to cover it. There were many days when no one showed up and one time when no one showed up for 9 days straight. I begged him to keep the project going but he told me they couldn't because the countertop was taking so long to cut. That turned out not to be true. At the end of the 9 days the quartz cutter came to measure the counters and told me they had only just received the quartz and would not start cutting it for 2 days. Besides, there was plenty of other work like putting on the cabinet doors and finishing the laundry area that they could have been doing while waiting for the countertops. That is when I stopped trusting what I was being told. Cost: I agreed to pay an additional $2000 for an additional slab of quartz because I didn't like the plain grey countertops they wanted to use. It ended up to be more than was needed for my project so Natan suggested that I pay an additional $2000 to install the quartz all of the way up to the bottom of the cabinets instead of a 4" backsplash. I declined. He did it anyway and did not charge me. I had to pay an additional $4200 to replace the kitchen floor. When he quoted the project we agreed it did not need to be replaced because I had just replaced it 3 years earlier. It got hacked up when the bottom cabinets were installed and a patch job would have looked awful so it needed to be replaced. Communication: Communication was really poor. I had no idea what was going on or when anyone was actually going to show up to work on the project. No one told me they were proceeding with the white cabinets and grey countertops until I asked when I could pick the cabinet finish and quartz. They encountered a problem when opening up a wall but didn't discuss it with me until I asked 5 weeks later and it turned out that they couldn't do what we had agreed. Project Management: Natan said that either he or his project manager would be onsite every day to supervise the work and ensure it was done correctly. Neither one of them was ever there when the workers were so I basically had to make sure things were getting done. Natan kept asking what was left to be done. Had they come, I believe many of the issues could have been avoided. His crew clearly needed guidance. Natan had promised that his team would be on site to receive delivery of the cabinets on 5/14/2026. They were not. I was unable to be there so had to have a neighbor come and receive the delivery. Good thing I have Google Translate because that's what I needed to talk to his workers. Quality: The main issue was everything being installed backwards. My washer dryer hookups were installed backwards. The HVAC control was installed backwards and I had to pay an HVAC tech to come fix it. My dishwasher was hooked up backwards and spewed into my sink when it emptied but Natan refused to have someone come fix it so I had to pay a plumber to come fix it. Garbage disposal was also incorrectly installed. The kitchen was painted a different color and you can see the old color half way down beside the refrigerator and beside the dishwasher. The baseboards were just hacked off at the end rather than being joined at an angle and exposed the raw wood and some are flat and others molded so look like scraps were used. There's more but you get the idea. In the end, my kitchen is beautiful and if they worked the way they did the final week when they wanted me to sign off on the project and pay them it actually could have been done in the 2 weeks that he promised.
