I love clams and seafood. This restaurant is in walking distance to my apartment and I was curious if the food was good or not. Overall, I like the food and drink. Sangria is on the lighter side, baked clams is good, Scungilli is my dish and I like it. I didn't see much of Italian place that has this dish on the menu even it suppose to be a regular dish in Italian restaurant. It was easy Sunday and I walked in with out reservations.

Walked in and were immediately and amicably seated. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and had a family vibe. The sauce was delicious ! Had a real warmth and depth to it. Tasted homey. The food came in good portions and was very good. Will definitely be coming again !

I had a great dinner at Desy's. I started off with the Baked Clams, and loved them with the Spicy homemade red sauce. I then had a garlic linguine with Shrimp and Broccoli. Great service at the bar, and the Christmas decorations looked great.

There is no better place in the area to get good quality and variety of shrimp. Desy's is the place to be hands-down! I've come here multiple times over the last 5 years with coworkers for lunch, birthday's, etc., and this last visit was no different. Inside, the vibe is pretty standard, and doesn't stand out enough to be unique, but it just has a basic Italian restaurant vibe. The staff, although seemingly small, are always nice. You may have to ask for water for the table or more napkins, but this place is known more for the food than the service. Staples - fried shrimp with penne pasta with oil and garlic; sautee shrimp You MUST ask to try all three of their spice levels of red sauce to dip in their bread while you wait. I truthfully love their mild sauce, but their medium spice sauce has just the right kick to bring some excitement to your taste buds! Their menu is vast and the portions are always generous and presented well. I've met some friends and family here to eat, and we've always enjoyed ourselves. Come hungry, and come thinking of shrimp!

The fried cheese was amazing the three side sauces are sweet medium and hot all three are great but the spicy is the way to go!! Shrimp and spaghetti is the champion here hands down make sure and tell them spicy if that's your thing calamari and pasta was also very good chicken farms what you expect at a wonder place like this can't go wrong the kids will love it can't wait to come back

    Mussels

Listen, I'm a regular patron at Desy's Clam Bar. The food reminds me of home (New Jersey), the decor is comfortable, and the service typically is excellent. However, my most recent experience left me shaking in my boots with anger. It started as one might expect at a restaurant like Desy's -- mussels diablo and a glass of red wine for myself and my dining partner. Our server realized the house red they typically had by the glass (a Cabernet) was out of stock and offered us a different type of wine instead which we accepted. The wine arrived quickly and we were more than happy with the taste and quality. When we sat down we asked for two glasses of water that never arrived, perhaps that should have been a sign we'd be taken for a ride. After the mussels came the penne with sausage and broccoli rabe, another superb dish that left me with nothing but kind things to say. We ordered one more glass of wine for the table and split it between the two. A few sips in our server came back and asked if we'd be interested in purchasing the bottle as she had opened it for us and there was "only a glass left", she let us know it would be $10 more than what we had already ordered. I asked how much the wine was per glass and our server said "$10 each". Again, with our faith in a woman who had already served us a delicious meal, we accepted. We enjoyed another glass each from the bottle, but before we had even made it half way through our server arrived again looking antsy. She said that the owner pulled her aside to let her know that the bottle of wine of wine she had opened was more expensive than she thought. It was actually one of the most expensive bottles they had in the restaurant. She said the owner wouldn't charge us full price, but that we'd be expected to pay $90 despite accepting total responsibility for the mix up. We empathized but said we were uncomfortable paying more than double the price we she'd said initially. Our server went to the back of the restaurant to discuss it with the owner and returned letting us know that the bottle was $150 but because the owner was willing to charge us $90 we were getting a good deal -- when we objected she let us know we'd have to pay at least $60 and that the rest would come out of her pocket. We asked why we'd be charged $60 when she had said $40 originally ($10 for 3 glasses each plus $10 for the bottle) she said what she meant by $10 more was an additional $10 per glass. What a switch up! We told her we felt bad, but again, that we weren't willing to pay for the restaurant's mistake. She offered to charge us $50 again and we agreed before she flipped the script and said "okay so $60?" I reminded her she just said $50. Our server proceeded to roll her eyes and try to make us feel guilty by explaining she'd have to pay for her mistake. We paid $50 but left a 24.48% tip due to the clear distress in our server's eyes. The saddest part is I love Desy's and will be back, I just pray no one is taken advantage of the way we were.

Good bread to start out with. Clams oreganato were good but did not have a crunchy topping. The seafood salad had a good variety of seafood, including clams, shrimp, squid, The portions are big for the price. The flounder was fresh and flakey. The chicken parmigiana was crunchy and covered with cheese. So was the eggplant parmigiana. The cannolis were some of the best we've ever had. No cheesecake or spumoni on the desert menu or wine with the meal.

The food just isn't good. It's not horrible but about equal to the average meal you make in 30 minutes at home. The sea snail is inedible.

Our server Sam was really knowledgeable and gave us a lot of recommendations. We ended up going with all of his favorites which were the sugar snap peas, the bigeye tuna and gnocco fritto, white asparagus and soked sablefish, the soft-boiled egg and blue crab and finally the steelhead trout. Sam was wonderful to also suggest us really delicious, salty, fresh and wild white wines to pair with our dishes. Everything we had were perfectly cooked with bold flavors. I could definitely taste the care and detail put into every dish. For the smoked sablefish dish, the sauce was so delicious, we asked for some toasted in-house sourdough to soak it up. The pavolva dessert at the end with the surprise paired wine was the perfect ending. I can see why this restaurant is well loved and feel very lucky and grateful that we could have an opportunity to dine here. Thank you so much Sam and team for a wonderful time! On my second visit, the thoughtfully designed space felt just as inviting. We sampled the rest of the menu after loving everything last time. Standouts included: Delicate Long Island fluke, perfectly portioned for sharing Squid ink deviled eggs - so good we ordered them again Deceptively simple lobster rice, bursting with flavor Revelatory yellow fin tuna - I'd return just for this The mackerel's fishiness may polarize, but the skin's easily removed for milder tastes. Desserts shone, from the millefeuille to cherry panna cotta with contrasting jellied top and luscious pudding beneath. Only quibble: a spoon would serve the panna cotta better than a fork for scooping every drop. When we asked, they graciously brought one, even noting they should consider always doing so. Reservations are scarce for good reason - Four Horsemen is a gem. I'll gladly vie for a table again to see what other creative dishes emerge from this kitchen. With just a bit more attention to small details like cutlery pairings, it would earn that final star.
