Been waiting to give this newish spot in Hampton a try, and glad we did. We love Indian food, and usually have to drive to points north or south of Hampton to enjoy. We dined fairly early on a Friday evening and the restaurant quickly filled up. Since they are not located on the beach, there is plenty of parking. This location was formerly a pizza hut, but they did a nice job converting to a pleasant dining room. Service was very friendly, pleasant and efficient, and we enjoyed all the food we ordered. As others mention, portions are large (we took food home), and we found the prices to be fair, given the ever increasing cost of food lately. We started with an order of Pakora and onion bhaji. When the dish arrived I thought we were given the wrong order as the plate had what looked like patties, and not the usual shape of these items that we have had at other Indian restaurants. Appearance aside, we found them to taste as we expected. Perhaps a regional difference? We stuck to some of the more common dishes we have ordered so that we could compare to other restaurants. Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer were both delicious. The menu has everything that you might expect as well as some dishes I've not had. Extensive Biryani and Tandoori offerings as well. I stumbled on this gem while on vacation. They were very busy on a Friday night, so I ate at the bar. I figured it was a good sign when I saw an Indian family waiting for a table. I had samosas, palak paneer, and peshwari naan. Everything was delicious, and the naan was in my top 2 ever. Destination India has just opened another location on Lafayette Road in Hampton, formerly The Bench, Fast Eddie's & Pizza Hut. Their other location is in Derry, which is a popular local spot for Indian cuisine. The place offers dine-in, takeout, online ordering, and DoorDash delivery. The place was redone inside which offers a full service dining room and a small bar/takeout counter. They offer a selection of appetizers, meat dishes, vegetarian dishes, tandoori specials, biryani/rice dishes, breads/naan, lassis, and desserts. The pricing is moderate and the same menu as Derry. I stopped by Destination India in Hampton after an appointment in the area. I decided to get takeout and ordered in person. The owner and marketing director introduced themselves. The owner recognized me when I stopped in for food pickup in Derry and I've also enjoyed their chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, and samosas over there. On this visit, I ordered the Navaratan Korma ($17 plus tax) with rice, Paneer Pakora ($10.95 plus tax) and Rasmalai ($6 plus tax), which was all set in 20 minutes after ordering. I did not order naan since I already had some bread at home. I headed back home to enjoy my food and the main dishes were still hot. The Navaratan Korma had a mix of vegetables & nuts in a semi rich creamy sauce with nice flavors, over the rice. The Paneer Pakora were fried battered paneers with a firm texture (sort of like fried cheese curds) served with green mint and tamarind chutneys for dipping. The Rasmalai dessert had 2 cottage cheese dumplings soaked in a creamy condensed milk, rose water & nuts. Overall, the food was very good, just like at the Derry location. I would stop by this location again for Indian food if I happen to be in the area. read more

The HOT Chicken Chettinad (Chicken cubed and cooked in freshly ground pepper, South Indian spices, fresh curry leaves and cilantro.) was great. Delicious flavors and a very tolerable heat level. Next time I'll try the Indian Spicy heat level. Peshawari Naan (Naan filled with assorted nuts, coconut, and dried fruits. The perfect savory bread.) was delicious and paired well. Laccha Paratha (A multi-layered whole wheat bread Tandoor baked and brushed with butter) was just as good as the Nan. Yum. Bhindi Masala Medium (Deep fried okra with tomato, onions and bell peppers in kadai masala.) was delicious and fresh. We loved it. Aloo Gobhi Mutter Medium (Cauliflower, potatoes and peas in an onion, tomato and coriander spice blend.) was also delicious. The cauliflower was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The mint chutney is amazing and i wish it came in larger portions. Haha. The rice was great. The food was great, the employees seemed nice, the food is ready quickly, and i look forward to returning. This is not only gourmet Indian food. It's just gourmet food. Judged on every element the food gets five stars. The service is top notch as well. The rice is done the way Indian rice should be done not the way it's usually done in other Indian restaurants. Each dish has a unique and authentic flavor. Meats are cooked to perfection. This review is for their takeout. We've ordered here many times- and you typically have to wait at least an hour for takeout- even when the restaurant is not busy. They don't have a good process for keeping track of orders or completing them in a timely way. The Clover system they use gives a time estimate of 25min and it's usually double that estimate - sometimes longer. They don't show any desire to change what they're doing- or communicate better with customers. It's proven to be so unreliable- takeout is for convenience. And this is very inconvenient. It's too bad because the food is good. The contact email on the company website sends error messages and doesn't appear to be working. The owner did provide a gift certificate. We hope they can improve this side of the business. read more

Heaven in Hampton! Absolutely the most delicious meal I've eaten in ages. Scrumptious, authentic Indian food is available now right here on the Seacoast. I moved to Hampton not realizing there were no local Indian restaurants. I lived in London for 2 years & got turned on to Indian food. This food rivals anything I have ever eaten. My son had the Chicken Tikka Marsala & I had the Lamb Korma. Sensational! We had the Onion Kulcha & the Cheese & Garlic Naan. Stupendous! My other son wasn't able to make it but we have a date for our next visit. We will definitely be regulars. If you haven't tried Indian food, now's the time. We stumbled upon this gem on our way home from the beach. What a wonderful place! The food was really well prepared and delicious. I started with the mixed green salad, which was huge and very fresh. I also had the coconut shrimp curry, which had was complex, wonderfully spiced and very satisfying. We also had samosa, which had just the right amount of spice. Amazing people, great experience! Truly fantastic. The best dish was the mussels. It's not a dish you normally see in Indian restaurants. Rather, it's a fusion dish that blends Indian flavors with the local food of the New Hampshire sea coast region. At this price point and location, my expectation was that the mussels would be slightly over cooked. They were not. They were perfection. It was a dish that would not be out of place on the menu at Ettan, a Michelin Guide listed Indian fusion restaurant in Palo Alto. The chef is still young. I hope he does more dishes like this. There are many Indian restaurants that repeat the same Indian and British Indian favorites. They have those dishes on the menu and everything was great, but those mussels were something special. read more

This restaurant recently opened and we were eager to try it out. We love Indian food and weren't disappointed. The food was delicious. I got Mango Chicken and my boyfriend got Chicken Vindaloo. Both were perfectly cooked. The Naan bread was wonderful, full of coconut, nuts and dried fruit. The wait staff were very attentive and knowledgable. Generous portions. I spoke to a neighbor of mine whose husband is Indian and they go to India frequently. Her husband said this is authentic Indian food as served in India itself. Beware of the spice levels. Even her husband says the hot is really hot and he gets medium. I have had hot and once Indian hot at other Indian places. Destination India's Hot is like other Indian Restaurant's Indian Hot, aka crazy hot. I had the Chicken Vidaloo Hot and it was so hot it had no taste, i.e. crazy hot. Next time I'm getting medium. The only reason I give it a 4 star vs. A 5 star is because we ordered Aloo Paratha and it was drenched in Ghee, very greasy. And I ordered Papadam and the condiments were served on a Wasabi tray, very little amount and not able to put on the Papadam. The condiments should be served in a small clay pot for each one with a small spoon like other Indian restaurant's do. However I will return because the service and quantity are good. read more
